You’re probably still cleaning up tape and wrapping paper remnants off your floor, but the festivities aren’t over yet. There’s still one more party around the corner, and we’re here to make sure it goes off without a hitch. Whether you’re hosting a New Year’s party or just contributing to the spread, take a savory finger food that’s perfect for casual or dressier gatherings.

Chicken Yakitori:

Chicken Yakitori Recipe

Ingredients

4 chicken cutlets
1 green pepper
1 red pepper
1 yellow pepper
1 Spanish onion
1/4 cup soy sauce
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 teaspoon fresh ginger, minced
1 teaspoon sugar
1 garlic glove, minced

Directions

If using wooden skewers, soak in water for 20 minutes. Slice chicken, peppers and onions into 1-by-1-inch cubes. In a shallow pan, combine chicken cubes with peppers, onions, soy sauce, oil, ginger, sugar and garlic. Refrigerate for 1 to 4 hours or longer. Weave marinated chicken, peppers and onions onto skewers.

Preheat the broiler. Place a rack in a shallow baking pan. Broil the skewers about 4 to 5 minutes on each side, or until chicken is tender. Can also be cooked on a grill outside. Serve on a bed of steamed rice.

Yields 4 servings

Prosciutto-Wrapped Peppers: 

Prosciuto Red Pepper Recipe

Ingredients

4 red peppers, roasted and peeled
4 ounces sliced prosciutto
4 basil leaves
4 black olives
8 ounces fresh mozzarella, cut into 4 pieces
3 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
salt and pepper

Directions

Whisk together olive oil, vinegar, salt and pepper. Add peppers and marinate for 1 hour. Fill each pepper with a piece of mozzarella. Wrap a slice of prosciutto around each pepper. Top each with a basil leaf and olive. Hold together with a toothpick.

Yields 4 servings

Eggplant Caponata Dip:

Eggplant Caponata Dip

Ingredients

1/2 cup extra-virgin olive oil
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 large onion, diced
2 celery ribs, diced
1 red pepper, seeded and diced
2 eggplants, cut into 1/2-inch cubes
2 tomatoes, peeled, seeded and chopped
2 tablespoons capers, drained
1/2 cup pitted green olives
1/4 cup red wine vinegar
1/4 cup parsley, chopped
salt and pepper

Directions

Heat oil in frying pan. Cook garlic, onion, celery, red pepper and eggplant until soft. Stir in tomatoes and cook for 5 minutes. Put vegetables in bowl and toss with capers, olives, vinegar, parsley, salt and pepper. Taste, adding more vinegar and olive oil as needed.

    I’m pretty sure that turned well (at least on the field).

    This suggests the siblings have a familiarity and comfort.
    If Kevin Kolb is the opening day starter next season, he may have more pressure on him than any other quarterback in the league.
