Sisal rope was always one of those things we had in the garage when I was growing up, though I was never quite sure what to do with it. (Or why we had it in the first place, for that matter. Camping? Fishing?) After discovering all of these cheap-and-chic sisal rope crafts, I sure wish I could travel back in time and steal a length of it. Check out this rope craft roundup and lasso an idea or two for yourself.

sisal rope bowl craft

I’m blown away by this sisal rope bowl from Centsational Girl. A cheapie metal bowl becomes fashionably rustic when you give it this easy treatment. Genius.

My bulletin boards at work are indispensable, but feel a little institutional. I’ve compensated by covering them with pretty business cards (thanks, fellow Alt attendees!), but prefer the look of this sisal-lattice bulletin board from Woman’s Day. Isn’t the added texture so tantalizing?

sisal rope coasters craft
Use sisal rope for coasters with a coastal feel like Chelsea of Making Home Base did here. The anchor is an inspired, nautical touch.

sisal rope shelves craft

If you’ve got a bunch of sisal rope hanging around, make some hanging shelves! For a cool contrast, hang the shelves in front of a chalkboard wall, as seen on ReCreate.

sisal rope pendant lamp
Behold, a (literally) bright idea: A woven sisal rope pendant lamp! This $30.00 stunner is actually a hanging planter basket that’s been given a sisal rope makeover. Get all the instructions on Design*Sponge.

Which sisal rope craft tugs at you the most? And is there an ordinary household material you’d like to see transformed into creative crafts in this column? Leave your suggestions in the comments below!
