Remember a few weeks ago when a good part of the D-Happ staff was obsessed with all things watermelon? Kayla made the juicy fruit the topic of her Mood Board Monday. Allie showed us five ways to craft with watermelon. And I even pitched in with a watermelon-inspired Tuesday Huesday. So when Nina, HGTV.com’s entertainment manager, introduced a watermelon-themed Pinterest board to the Color Team, it wasn’t exactly a hard sell. That’s right: Bright, juicy watermelon is our newest Color of the Month!

Juicy Melon Margarita

August is the height of watermelon season: Think big-as-your head slices of fruit pulled straight from the icebox, dribbling down your chin.  Or, if cocktails are more your speed, try this melon-filled margarita recipe.

As lots of folks head back to college, this almost-neon color is the ideal hue to add some personality to a dorm room or first apartment.  Start small with an embroidery-hoop message center or paint-dipped planter

Even though this hue seems ultra-summery, it’s also the perfect transition hue. Pair it with soft gray, dark green or mustard yellow for a bright space that’s perfect for early fall.

Women have been wise to this wonderful summer color for YEARS! Watermelon nails/toes, & lips for summer! Big summer floppy beach hats! Beach totes! Glad to see you choosing it for August. Keeps everyone from giving up on summer color too soon! For the month of August, send summer out with this bright color in ANY or every room w/table linens, accent pieces, vases, paint a basket, etc.. Small diy/craft projects are economical with a BIG SPLASH! I will give summer it's last nod and then FALL HERE WE COME!!

I got a manicure in Rome this spring, and this watermelon red was THE hot color everyone wanted. As soon as we got home I went to the store to find my own bottle. It makes me smile every time I glance at my nails.

It is definitely a cheery color. I have LR chairs the color more in keeping with the color shown for the margaritas. I have been able to bring in coral and a burnt/brick red and it works. I have had these chairs for a bout 5 years now.

Heya! I just wanted to ask in the event you ever have any issues with hackers? My last blog (wordpress) was hacked and I ended up losing several months of hard work due to no back up. Do you have any techniques to protect against hackers?
