Congratulations to this giveaway’s random winner, CPlusE, whose most successful costume to date was a gypsy. Come back on October 4 for another great giveaway.

Halloween is my absolute favorite holiday. I love it all: Decking out the yard with completely over-the-top decor, dressing up as someone else in a fun Halloween costume and greeting friends with intentionally-creepy food and cocktails. Plus, any spider webs that might get missed just add to the spooky vibe.

With just over a month left until the big day, it’s time to start putting up Halloween decorations and planning parties. That’s why we’re giving away this party prize pack from Grandin Road, an online style retailer that cares even more about Halloween than I do. Read on to see the whole giveaway list and enter for a chance to win this prize.

We have a Halloween party every year and our friends do a awesome job coming up with original costumes. My favorite costume so far was the year I was a female gladiator. Halloween is my favorite holiday. Love Grandin Roads decorations and have bought from them.

Decades ago I went to a 4H party dressed as a gypsy, and actually won a prize for best costume! It was the first time I ever wore makeup (yes, it was that long ago!) and I went all out — people barely recognized me.

My favorite costume was the gypsy costume I made for my daughter. She had a puffy white blouse so I made a handkerchief multi- printed purple and gold metallic skirt with a matching kerchief tied on the side. And I made a gold chain belt and hoop earrings with coins hanging off them. She loved the jingle sound they made.

My favorite costume was Mary Poppins made completely from thrift finds and a costume shop going out of business. the best part was how excited the little trick-or-treaters were when Mary Poppins was waiting for them on the porch. Some were so happy they asked for a hug instead of candy – so cute!

I cut up a whole bunch of cereal boxes and attached them to some old, crappy clothes, splattered fake blood all over the clothing, grabbed a fake knife and went as a "CEREAL" killer! Lol

For my 21st birthday (which is on Halloween) I dressed as a president of the US. All my friends dressed as my secret service agents. It was hysterical and we won the costume contest at the bar!

    Bobby soxer, home made.

My best Halloween costume was when I was a "50's girl." I went to school on Halloween, and when I came home, my mom had made me this awesome poodle skirt. She had it laying out on my bed, and I remember being so happy. It looked great, too!

I made a Swamp Thing costume for my son when he was in the Tiger Cubs. I didn't have a pattern, just "eyeballed" it. Got out the sewing machine, stitched it up. Added a little tule & raffia as the swamp grass. Cut out felt leaves & presto… Swamp Thing! My son won the "Best Costume" prize! I still have the costume. My son is now 30 years old.

I dressed up as a Halloween tart, ripped my tights, wore a short black skirt, put on some long silk black gloves and found a super cool bodice which I sewed small plastic luminous skeletons to the outside of the bodice. I wore thick black eyeliner makeup, purple lipstick and back combed my hair rigid followed by spray to make it stiffer!! I was set to go……….oh yes not forgetting my 4" high stilettos !!!!
