Book shelf in home library from Cousins Undercover

Yes, today is Valentine’s Day and all of us here at HGTV.com love love, but we also love a good read and a glass of wine! (Or is that just me?)

In addition to V-Day, February 14th is also Library Lovers’ Day. The holiday is more broadly recognized in Australia, but I’m pushing for a celebration here in the States, too. So whether you’ve got a big date tonight or you’re planning a night in, take a moment to fall in love with these beautiful home libraries from some of our favorite HGTV shows.

To me, a library or book nook should be calm, peaceful, and aesthetically pleasing. The room by Novagratz doesn't have anything particularly innovative, but it's a nice room; Cousins Undercover have a cold room with a few books, not a library; the red room hurts my eyes and is not welcoming as a reading room; Renovation Raiders seem to have modernized a room for Thomas Jefferson – again, cold and not comfortable; and the last one by Cousins Undercover is okay, but the books appear to be filler and not real texts … who has that many grey and black books? The topsy turvy, haphazard placement of books does nothing to calm the space. I can't believe these are the "Cutest" libraries in the HGTV Realm. It's a poor representation of a home design station/site.
