If you’re a design fan, you’ve likely heard of High Point Furniture Market. Every spring and fall, the city of High Point, North Carolina fills to the brim with designers, furniture buyers and exhibitors, all ready to see the hottest trends in home decor.

Camille and I logged several miles a day walking around the many gorgeous showrooms in High Point last week, and I’ve gathered up the top 10 trends we spotted at this spring’s showing.

Bejeweled and Bedazzled
Think of this as the upscale version of that bedazzling gun sold on late-night TV. The agate trend continues this spring both in real-life slices, like this stone-covered sconce from Emporium Home inspired by the classic Sputnik chandelier, and agate-inspired fabrics, like this custom print spotted at Design Legacy.  This trend also starring: quartz and crystal.

Deep Blue
From Shibori-inspired rugs to floral fabrics to geometric patterns, indigo and navy blue were everywhere at this spring’s market.

Vibrant Orange
Along with all that blue, a complementary color was also on display: lots and lots of orange, like this lush bedding display from de Medici by Eastern Accents.

Shades of Purple
Though we didn’t spot as much of Pantone’s radiant orchid as we expected, the displays we did see featuring this hue were stunning. Our favorite? This painterly vignette at Design Legacy.

The Woven Trend
The oh-so-1970s trend of wicker, rattan and bamboo is back with modern shapes and brightly-lacquered hues. A favorite: The modern wicker loveseat at David Francis Furniture.

And the woven trend didn’t stop with chairs, headboards and tables: We also spotted handmade paper wall coverings, woven gold lamp bases and a folk art-inspired woven Moroccan pouf.

Knotted and Tied

Chunky-patterned knits are hot, hot hot: Think macrame light fixtures, heavy-gauge yarns and soft, textural rugs.

Hand-Carved
Intricate, hand-carved designs are also totally on-trend. Dovetail Furniture featured several pieces with impressive carved detail work, like this scrolled skull, intricate ceramic lantern and decorative heart-shaped stone.

The Nautical Look
We told you how our decorating staff feels about the nautical look in last week’s Defend the Trend, but the design community at High Point Furniture Market gave the look a resounding “Yes!” From fish, turtle and starfish pillow embellishments to carved wooden horseshoe crabs and anchor motifs, the market featured lots of perfect-for-summer pieces.

New Takes on Taxidermy
The taxidermy trend has been around for awhile, and while we didn’t see many (real or faux) animal heads perched on the walls, there were lots of new takes on animal-inspired decor. We saw real and cast animal skulls turned into light fixtures, a cast metal ornamental alligator and even reptile-inspired fabrics. A personal favorite: these large-scale carved wooden octopi.

Another interpretation of this trend: gilded animals. We spotted glam animal accessories, from these gold turtle shells from Worlds Away to a shiny alligator at Gold Leaf Design Group.

Embellished Animal Hide
Real and faux animal hides were all over this year’s market, but many pieces took them past their natural form. From herringbone patterns to metallic accent pieces to a bright metallic zebra print, the materials add softness, texture and shine to everything from rugs and pillows to chairs and ottomans.

Having lived through the 70s, barely, I am not too thrilled with the looks of things! Just the thought of wicker makes me shiver. I will continue with the look I love, and wait for the next change in decor. Interesting looking at all the bling though….

Since home decorative lighting is most useful. That makes housing more beautiful. Above I seen some images of home decoration and that is really so beautiful. But I think if you add a light at the center, then it look more beautiful.

I would definately do the orange and navy!!! love love love. Also I think I will toy with the deer skulls my husband has from previous hunts. He is always bugging me to put them upstairs in the non-hunting part of the house and now with a light or strand of lights to illuminate them, I think I just might let them come upstairs.

Taxidermy can definitely look chic depending on what it's paired with. I love the idea of the strand of lights!
