We’re one day away from Derby Day at Churchill Downs, and those not heading to Louisville, Ky. are likely prepping their kitchen with mint leaves and bourbon. Blueberry Mint Julep Ice Pops
The Perfect Gentleman
1 ounce spearmint tea
3/4 ounce homemade mint syrup
1 1/2 ounce rye whiskey (or bourbon)
3 drops coriander bitters
In a mixing glass combine all ingredients. Add ice and stir until cold. Strain over crushed ice and garnish with mint.
To make your own mint syrup: Use equal parts hot water and granulated sugar. When sugar has dissolved, add mint to the water for 10 to 12 minutes, then strain.
