Cake decorating is an art (I mean, truly), but let’s be honest…sometimes the idea of all those piping bags of frosting (or wrestling with fondant) can be a bit overwhelming. With this in mind, I set out to make colorful candles that dress up even the most basic grocery store sheet cake. They are easy to make and can be customized for any occasion (make the patriotic star candles now and stash them away for your Fourth of July barbecue!). Watch the video to learn how, it’s a real toe-tapper:

I started off making these candles for my daughter Lulu’s birthday but then I couldn’t stop. They are seriously fun to make. What shape would you make?

  1. You can certainly see your enthusiasm in the paintings you write. The world hopes for more passionate writers like you who aren’t afraid to mention how they believe. Always go after your heart.

  2. Unlike many of its department store contemporaries, with the notable exception of Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus is still in operation today under the original name and is still headquartered in the city where it began. The Neiman Marcus Group comprises the Specialty Retail stores division which includes Neiman Marcus Stores and Bergdorf Goodman Cusp (a contemporary boutique format) and the Direct Marketing division, Neiman Marcus Direct. These retailers offer upscale assortments of apparel, accessories, jewelry, beauty and decorative home products. The company operates 40 Neiman Marcus stores across the United States and two Bergdorf Goodman stores, in Manhattan. Neiman Marcus’ largest market is the South Florida MSA, where they operate five stores. The company also operates 20 Last Call clearance centers and three Horchow Finale Furniture Outlets. These store operations total more than five million square feet (500,000 m) gross. Competitors in the luxury retail segment include Bloomingdale’s, Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Barneys New York.

I completely agree with every comment above! I love Property Brothers, but more for their banter and less for "Oh, I could do that in my home!" kind of moments. I do really love Fixer Upper. When I see their after homes, I see ideas that I can implement in my design. I want shows that give me tips and tell me how I can do it on a realistic budget! How do I make my home look homey when I only have maybe $50 a paycheck extra to spend? That's the kind of stuff I'd love to see on HGTV.
