HGTV Handmade’s Crafters on YouTube (L to R): MegAllanColeCrafts, HGTVCrafternoon, simpleDIYs and Anneorshine

The team over at HGTV Handmade (some of YouTube’s best crafters) has a friendly competition going on with their “White Craft Challenge.” Much like the renowned HGTV Star “White Room Challenge,” where competitors must each decorate an all-white room with very limited supplies, the stars of HGTV Handmade are each decorating super snooze-worthy “white” lamps following just two requirements: One, they can only use what they have in their current possession (no trips to the craft store allowed!) and two, when the lamp is finished, it must still be able to function as a light source.

Watch as this fun challenge gets underway:

(You can watch the complete White Craft Challenge Series as it unfolds by visiting the HGTV Handmade channel on YouTube.)

Fortunately for you, both this week and next, we will be giving away the impressive lamps that were created for this competition (two this week, two next week). Today, we’re offering up the lamps crafted by Marianne and Meg (below).

Two lucky Design Happens readers will each win a lamp. To enter for a chance to win one, simply leave a comment below. This week’s question: What boring decorative items have you made fabulous?

You may only comment once to be considered, and you don’t have to purchase anything to win; a purchase will not increase your chances of winning. Odds depend on total number of entries. Void where prohibited by law. Only open to legal residents of 50 U.S., D.C. or Puerto Rico, and you must be at least 18 years of age to win. All entries (comments) must be entered between 3:00 p.m. ET on July 25, 2014 and 3:00 p.m. ET on July 28, 2014. Subject to full official rules. By leaving a comment on the blog, you acknowledge your acceptance to the Official Rules. ARV of each prize: $50.00. ARV of both prizes: $100.00. I have taken an old knick knack shelf, painted it with Americana chalk paint to bring new life to it. It now is in my bathroom for extra storage and displays my other craft projects to organize my jewelry.

I recently bought a plain black mirror from Walmart and decided to cover the frame of it with some decorative duct tape. The mirror has a completely different look and it added some color to my room.
