It’s that time of year again! Time for newly sharpened pencils, first-day outfits and anxiety-ridden dreams about forgetting to do your homework (or was that one just me?) That’s right; it’s back to school season! To echo Briana’s sentiment, where did summer go?! It absolutely flew by! I was dumbfounded when I saw back to school was trending on Yahoo. But sure enough, for everyone from Pre-K to college, the school year is just around the corner. In the spirit of heading back to the classroom, I’ve put together a complete schedule of 8 school-inspired rooms. Look for decorating ideas based on your favorite subject! I promise there won’t be a pop quiz at the end.

8 Rooms Inspired by School Subjects
7:30 AM — Math
Our school day begins with an early math class. Brightly painted red, white and black number blocks are used to offset the bold wallpaper in this adorable nursery. Cute accessories that double as tools for learning how to count — definitely an A+ combo.

8:45 AM — Science
Who didn’t love memorizing element abbreviations in Chemistry class? (Me!) Whether you loved or loathed high school science courses, this unique Periodic coffee table is a great addition to any contemporary living room.

10:00 AM  Geography
Next we’ll be learning about geography! A world map, especially an option as vibrant as this one,  is both a decorative and educational element in a kids’ room. For a different area of the house, try hanging an antique map for a vintage and global vibe.

11:15 AM  English
Finally, at the fourth slot in our schedule, we’ve reached my subject of choice: English! English was always my favorite class and I’ve long dreamed about having my own fully-stocked home library. However, if you’re like me and don’t yet have the literary collection to support such a dream, this bookshelf wallpaper is a lovely way to achieve the same visual effect.

1:00 PM Gym
This lounge area in Mario Lopez’s basement may not resemble your high school gymnasium, but it does have an unquestionably cool vintage gym vibe thanks to antique boxing wallpaper and accessories.

2:15 PM  Art
Remember how in art class, your teacher always stressed how important it was to wash out paintbrushes after you used them? Well, this awesome piece in the HGTV Green Home 2011 “do room” breaks all the rules with a masterpiece reminiscent of messy art class days.

3:30 PM Music
Last but not least, music class! Whether or not you were ever a musician, you can create a cool and creative feel in a room by incorporating instruments as decor. If you coordinate accessories to match the instruments, like the rust-orange throw pillows in this basement living room, then major extra credit!
