I hope everyone enjoyed our live coverage from the Route 127 sale last week. Of course, it happened to be the same day that Twitter went down, so we weren’t able to tweet out our findings like planned, but we did take lots of notes and pictures. Hopefully everyone else had as much fun on their adventures as we did. Here are a few tips we picked up a long the way.
Earlier this week, our friends over at FrontDoor.com announced a partnership with 250 newspaper across the country. Along with enhancing their current listings, newspapers will eventually be able to take advantage of FrontDoor’s offerings of articles and video content from real estate experts.
The first site to launch with enhanced FrontDoor content is San Francisco’s own SFGate.com. The deal covers listing with newspapers owned by Cox Newspapers, Freedom Newspapers, Journal Register Co. and Southern Newspaper Group.
Keep en eye out for FrontDoor coming to a newspaper near you!
The team is packing up the car and we’re about to head out to Chattanooga to start the day. Stay tuned to the blog, or follow us on Twitter – @HGTVDecorating – for all of our updates. Happy Hunting!

While the team is getting ready for tomorrow’s shopping spree across Route 127, we thought it would be fun to put together a little wishlist of things we’re hoping to see or buy. Along with the usual oddities, assorted jerkied meats, and roadside signage, here’s what we’re hoping to encounter on our roadtrip along The World’s Longest Yardsale.

This Thursday kicks off the 127 Corridor Sale, otherwise known as The World’s Longest Yard Sale. What started in 1987 as a way to get people off the highways and onto the back roads of Tennessee and Kentucky is now a 654 mile phenomenon. Starting in Gadsden, Alabama the yard sale winds its way up to Chattanooga, TN (with a brief trip through Georgia) up to Jamestown, TN (the Headquarters of the 127 sale) and continues up through Kentucky, onto Cincinnati, OH and ending in Northwest Ohio. With so much to see and buy, its impossible to cover the entire route over the 4 days of the sale. And even worse, the blog team only has ONE DAY to see as much as we can!
Update 2: We’ll be live blogging over here all day.
Update 1: The blog team just posted our wishlists for the roadtrip this morning.

One of the best things about working for HGTV is knowing that we inspire people everyday. It gets even better when we see what happens when people get inspired to create their own masterpieces. Check out this great weekend project from a mom of 4 kids who goes by Jennwa, that was inspired after watching an episode of Color Splash with David Bromstad.
We love it when we see stuff like this! Check out this exclusive video from HGTV’s $250k Challenge where David shows you how to make your own original painting.
Sadly, this is the last week of our Friday Freebies. I want to thank everyone who’s commented over the past 4 weeks. I also want to congratulate Jennifer Perez who won last week’s set of Blue Wave candle holders with a very touching moment she shared with us about her father. I also want to thank the folks at PartyLite for hooking us up with some great stuff for the past month, and boy did we save the best for the last.
This week we’re going back outside to go out with a bang! Check out PartyLite’s Linear Lites Collection. The new Linear Lites 3-wick holder, a dazzling centerpiece with a glass cylinder insert to protect candle flame when used outside. Along with that, we’ve got 3 Linear Lites Pillar Holders in three sizes (14 ½” short, 16 ¼” medium and 18″ tall) and a Linear Lites Votive Pair for votives and tealights. And of course, don’t forget the candles: one Petite 3-Wick 3×5″ , one dozen votives , and another dozen tealights! All in Citrus Bloom Citronella scent, a tangy and surprising Citronella oil from fragrant Asian grasses combined with the tangy scent of citrus blossoms. A great fragrance for outdoor entertaining.

We’re down to our 2nd to last Giveaway from our friends at PartyLite. Last week’s Coast Lights set went out to Kelly G. with her answer:
The things in my house I am most proud of are the ultrasound photos I had framed after having my children. I was able to pick out some pretty, stylish mats and frames, and they are very cool, personal, and fun conversation starters!
This week we’ve got a set of 3 PartyLite Blue Waves Candle Holder with a box of tealights to go with them.
