I’m really excited to share more news from the mobile app world! Today we’re launching HGTV Watch, the completely redesigned TV on-demand app for iPhone and iPad. You’ll be able to stay connected to your favorite HGTV shows with full-episode streaming. Need your Weekday Crafternoon and DanMade fixes in a more portable, DIY project-friendly experience? You’ll find the latest videos in those HGTV.com series on HGTV Watch as well.

If you already use the HGTVtoGo video app on your iPhone or iPad, then getting HGTV Watch is easy: visit the Updates section in the App Store from your device and tap “Update” next to the app icon. If you’re not watching HGTV on your iPhone or iPad, it’s free, so what are you waiting for? Download HGTV Watch today! Android fans, you’re on deck. We’re putting the finishing touches on the Android version of HGTV Watch and will make it available very soon.

HGTV Watch app for iPad and iPhone
When you first open HGTV Watch, you’ll be asked to log in using your cable provider. Logging in with your cable provider allows us to share our most up-to-date TV offerings. If your provider is not available, you will still be able to watch some older TV content and all of our digital shorts without logging in. Currently we support AT&T U-verse, Bright House Networks, Comcast XFINITY, DIRECTV, Optimum and Time Warner Cable. We will be adding more cable providers from time to time, so please let us know which provider you want to see included.

HGTV Watch is a great place to keep up with the latest developments on HGTV Star. If you miss an episode, you can catch it there, and you can also watch special behind-the-scenes clips. Then pop over to the HGTV Folio app on your iPad to further inspect the contestants’ finished designs each week. Have you been watching? I’m a big fan of Brooks and his crazy hair and designs, but I also think Tiffany has been completely underrated so far. Who’s your favorite?

Well, hello D-Happ fans! I don’t believe we’ve met. My name is Beth, and I’m the editor responsible for HGTV’s growing collection of mobile apps. I’ll be checking in here regularly with updates about all the HGTV goodness you can find on your iPad, iPhone and (coming soon) Android devices as well as information about how you can integrate technology into your home.

I figured I’d kick my first post off with a BIG announcement. The mobile team here at HGTV today launched a brand new iPad app, HGTV Folio. And I might be a bit biased, but I think this one’s a beauty.

HGTV Folio landing screen
HGTV Folio is your source for gorgeous home interior photography. You’ll find photos of rooms designed by HGTV hosts, like the Property Brothers, Kitchen Cousins, Emily Henderson, and photography from the HGTV Dream Home, Smart Home and Urban Oasis. You’ll also see work by professional designers from around the country and the current lineup of HGTV Star contestants.

I’m not a jealous person. I mean, come on — it’s a complete waste of your energy to long for something that someone else has. Right? OK, that’s how I usually feel. But then, my good friend Felicia over at HGTVGardens informed me that she’s headed to jolly old London, England next week for The Royal Horticultural Society’s Chelsea Flower Show — and, I have to admit, I had a twinge of, “Uh, not fair — I wanna go!” I may have even stomped my foot (no, I really didn’t — OK, maybe I did). Of course, it makes no sense for me to go, but — that’s the thing about jealousy — it rarely ever makes sense.

What is the Chelsea Flower Show? Felicia writes, “What Bonnaroo is to indie rockers, the Oscars to movie stars, and the Venice Biennale to contemporary art fans, the Chelsea Flower Show is to plant people: the most glamorous, most famous, most celebrated garden show in a country known for taking its gardening very, very seriously.”

Be sure to keep up with Felicia’s travels to the Chelsea Flower Show as she takes in a bevy of British gardens and shares them with us (or rubs them in our faces, however you like to look at it).

Have you heard about the latest sensation to hit Broadway? I’ll Eat You Last starring Bette Midler chronicles the life of Hollywood superagent Sue Mengers (1932-2011). Sue, played by the Divine Miss M, was a legend in her time and represented the biggest names in show business (Barbra Streisand, Faye Dunaway, Burt Reynolds, Ali McGraw, Gene Hackman, Cher, Candice Bergen, Ryan O’Neal, Nick Nolte, Mike Nichols, Gore Vidal, Bob Fosse).

Keep reading for giveaway details.

I'll Eat You Last

I’ll Eat You Last starring Bette Midler is currently playing on Broadway at the Booth Theatre through June 30th! For more information, visit IllEatYouLast.com.

For more than 20 years, Sue Mengers’s clients were the talk of the town, and her dinner parties were the envy of Hollywood. Now for a limited time (best show availability is on Sunday, May 12th and Sunday, June 2nd), audiences are invited into her glamorous Beverly Hills home for an evening of dish, dirty secrets and all the inside showbiz details only Sue can tell.

I’m honored that Scott Pask, the set designer for I’ll Eat You Last, is giving a web-exclusive tour to Design Happens of the Broadway set (where we can see Sue’s home decor and tastes really come to life — she loved white flowers, silver and the National Enquirer). Watch the clip now:

As Scott mentioned, Sue Mengers’s real-life house (pictured below) was designed by a name that may be familiar to some D-Happers — John Elgin Woolf. Woolf (1908-1980) built or renovated homes for many wealthy and famous Los Angeles area residents in the 1950s and 1960s. It was said of him in his obituary that he, “…established a new vocabulary for glamorous movie-star living.”

Now, on to your chance to win! Design Happens, I’ll Eat You Last and CB2 have partnered to give you items to help with hosting your very own Sue Mengers-inspired dinner party. To win an I’ll Eat You Last tote bag, script, a Wine Bites cookbook, a one-year subscription to HGTV Magazine and a CB2 Party of 4 Starter Set, simply leave a comment on this post. You can answer this question: What do you think is the key to throwing a successful dinner party?

You may only comment once to be considered, and you don’t have to purchase anything to win; a purchase will not increase your chances of winning. Odds depend on total number of entries. Void where prohibited by law. Only open to legal residents of 50 U.S., D.C. or Puerto Rico, and you must be at least 18 years of age to win. All entries (comments) must be entered between 10:00 a.m. ET on May 10, 2013 and 10:00 a.m. ET on May 17, 2013. Subject to full official rules. Have mercy on my soul. Could our government not have picked a better day to take our money than on a Monday? Don’t they know (or care) that we struggle with the start of the workweek anyway — much-less adding this fun to the mix? Ugh. Hang in there, folks.

Let’s try and offset our inevitable irritation and daydream a bit — let’s envision ourselves in Hawaii — in this oceanfront estate. Heck, maybe you’re one of the lucky ones getting a tax refund this year and can purchase it (the house only costs $11,950,000 — again, one can dream).

Feeling any better? Me either — let’s just keep our heads down and power through this day. Sigh. Ah, Hawaii.

In the March issue of O, Oprah is discussing making over her California home. Ms. Winfrey feels her Santa Barbara house doesn’t accurately reflect her style or who she really is — and so, she’s getting to work with designer Rose Tarlow to come up with a more “lived in” look (or, as I like to call it — “less stuffy.”)

These photos are Oprah’s “Before” shots. If she plans on improving these rooms (they look pretty good to me!), I can’t wait to see the final results.

Oprah's Home Makeover

I’m a sucker for bookshelves. And, wow — these are spectacular! I believe Oprah is changing them, though.

Oprah's Home Makeover

The goal for this room will be to create an elegant and sophisticated space, but allow for warmth and playfulness. I guess it doesn’t do that, already?
