Every day, I peek at what our online readers are doing. Web data tells me what makes you click. This week, I know what many of our readers want to do in the bedroom — spice it up with striped bed linens and colorful bedding.

In August, a vast number of online users were perusing ideas for white bed linens. As temperatures drop for fall, it’s a great time to layer bedding and add color.

Designer Tyler Wisler suggests, “keeping the main components like the fitted and flat sheets in white or ivory, giving you unlimited flexibility in popping in some personality like a limey-green throw over a simple black quilted coverlet, or layering patterned-and striped-cases in the same color family to interject some eye candy.”

Tyler says, “Bed linens are one of the easiest accessories to get a lot of look without having to change too much. If you don’t feel like making the full investment in an entire new set seasonally (which can get costly), you can switch out the shams from sunny summer yellows, to more golden fall ochers in a snap.”

Nancy Fire, Creative Director and Founder of Design Works Intl/First2Print and Design Director for HGTV HOME, recommends adding a bright color with texture. She says global-inspired fabrics are popular right now. “Our clients love the mix of color and texture, especially when mixed with a larger scale layout. The texture inside the damask emulates a woven technique.”

If you’re having trouble deciding, don’t worry, you’re not alone. Design Happens’ own Grant Dudley recently went on an exhaustive search for the perfect bedding.

As you look for ideas, Tyler says, “Have fun with it! After all, you do spend a third of your life in bed, so make it awesome!”

I’m a single guy in the market for new bedding. And let me tell you, it is not easy to find a masculine look with some semblance of color. I don’t want all this black, brown and navy blue that I seem to find everywhere — come on, not all dudes are afraid of a brighter hue here and there.

It appears that Bed Bath + Beyond has come through for me, though. I’m sold on their Willamsport Plaid collection.

Am I the only person who struggles to find non boring, non floral bedding?

I’m not a mother yet, but I’m already taking notes about great products for tots, so I’ll be all set on the nursery decor front when that day comes. (In the meantime, my friends get to benefit from my research at their baby showers.) One company I’m loving right now is Aunt Bucky, for their perfectly funky crib and twin bedding, not to mention their quilts, apparel and decor.

I have an annoying compulsion to match everything, so I always appreciate when a design has done a bit of the pattern mixing work for me. Aunt Bucky’s stuff has an eclectic feel to it, as though it was cobbled together from leftover vintage fabric scraps, but the color palettes keep it cohesive. I’ve bookmarked the site, but I secretly hope Aunt Bucky will branch out into dog beds soon so I can have a bit of their flair in my place before I even get preggers.

Our very own Kelley Walters was just telling me yesterday about her adventures in beginner beekeeping. I was determined to find a “beautiful” beehive to share with you all.

Apparently, when you’ve got a good design, you don’t mess with it. Beehives won’t be changing any time soon. In the research, though, I found a trove of great bee-inspired designs. This gorgeous bedding with screen-printed bees was among the best. And after watching this beekeeping video,  I think the sheets are more my speed.

Finding a pattern that you adore can be a blessing and a curse. Of course you’re thrilled that you’ve got a gem on your hands, but the life-cycle in the interiors market is nearly the same as in the fashion world: one season. After that, you’re out of luck.

Dwell Studios has listened to their customers who’ve pleaded to have retired patterns back again, and responded with three favorites from their archives. The Trellis pattern above is one of those three that’s on the shelves again with a few tweaks. I quite like the muted color and am gaga over the accent pillow.

More times than I’d like, products that I want to decorate with go on my wishlist rather than actually in my home. That’s why I get excited when I see something so pretty and completely affordable.

It was a pleasant surprise when I stumbled across this duvet cover at Urban Outfitters (UK). I probably haven’t perused their home goods since I was in college and wrongly assumed they were all batiks and papasan chairs still. Their US site has loads of great bedding to choose from as well – nearly all for under $200.

The March/April issue of Lonny has so many drool-worthy pages, but the spread that includes the bed on page 111 is one of my favorites:

Spring 2011 is looking mighty pretty at DwellStudio where the bedding was designed. Isn’t the mix of beige and yellow just so fresh? I’m ready to swap out my winter sheets and blankets for something more Spring-like. How about you? What do you do to make it feel like Spring in your home?
