This year’s holiday decor is all about being different, don’t you think? This confetti Christmas tree topper is a perfect example of just that.

The holidays are finally here. That’s right folks — no more singing Christmas carols in secret or lying about tearing up at the end of an early Home Alone showing — you are now free to spread the cheer.
Several of our HGTV editors spent Thanksgiving weekend putting up their Christmas trees, so imagine our delight to return from break and see that headquarters was already in the spirit, too:
So while we’re all geared up for the holidays, I bet many of you haven’t put your Christmas tree up yet. Perhaps you’re waiting until this weekend (December 1st is Saturday!) to sort through the decorations; it might be your first Christmas in a new home; or maybe you’re just looking for something new. Whatever your situation is, we’ve created a guide to help you pick out the perfect Christmas tree to light up your home this season.

At first, I was taken aback. But now? I have to admit, I’m sort of intrigued with the look.

Making plans to put up your Christmas tree? Try something new this year! Brian Patrick Flynn suggests a color combination of violet, brown, bronze and white as a great way to add masculine appeal to your home. For proper balance, stick with brown and bronze as the dominant colors, with sprinkles of violet for accent, and set it all against a white tree.
Are you mixing up your holiday decor this year? Let me know how bold you’re going!
I’m a pretty traditional gal when it comes to Christmas decor. But this year, I abandoned all things red, green and gold. My tree is daring, in vogue and pays homage to my all-time favorite color. A purple Christmas tree complete with pink bows, silver balls and cupcake ornaments is the unexpected and fun focal point of my living room. Whether you lean evergreen or artificial, old fashioned or modish, here are some of my favorite trimmings sure to inspire so you can get your tree Santa-ready, too.
