In my tree trimming post a few weeks ago, I mentioned I was breaking with tradition this year and going with a purple tree covered in cupcake ornaments. (My pics are after the jump.) Well, after a number of coworkers asked me to bring in pictures of said tree, we decided to share with all of you personal photos of our holiday decor. (After all, it’s impossible not to get caught up in the Christmas spirit at HGTV.) So from the Design Happens staff and our featured bloggers — Merry Christmas — from our homes…literally…to yours!

Merry Christmas, everyone! I hope you’re all enjoying your holiday with your family and friends. Aside from the delight I’m taking in my holiday, today’s other little pleasure is this clever “tree.”

Ho, ho, ho!
This Christmas, go beyond the traditional green and red, and spice up your holiday decor with a brand new color scheme.
Think bright and bold with colors like neon pink and green.
A Funky, Little Christmas
Every year since we were born, my parents have given my siblings and me a special Christmas ornament. Unwrapping each hand-picked treasure is one of my favorite holiday traditions. If I was to offer my parents a hint for this year’s ornament, it would be the Courtly Check Owl from the whimsical home decor artisans at MacKenzie-Childs.

I’m a pretty traditional gal when it comes to Christmas decor. But this year, I abandoned all things red, green and gold. My tree is daring, in vogue and pays homage to my all-time favorite color. A purple Christmas tree complete with pink bows, silver balls and cupcake ornaments is the unexpected and fun focal point of my living room. Whether you lean evergreen or artificial, old fashioned or modish, here are some of my favorite trimmings sure to inspire so you can get your tree Santa-ready, too.
