Gang, it’s Positive Thinking Day, but let’s face it. All a motivational poster’s likely to “inspire” are some over-the-top eye rolls. This Quote Hook, however, has the potential to put a little spring in your step. (That the name of the product is a grin-worthy pun is an added bonus.)
It’s pretty and practical, and its little daily affirmation hits you just on your way out the door. Now you won’t forget your hat OR your mantra!
While they totally look like “high-class peeps” as Matthew said, you wouldn’t want to eat these guys. Megan, closely followed by Amy PureHome, was spot on with “hooks for hanging garments or hats on.” Handmade “birds on a wire” themed decor is huge on Etsy and at indie-craft fairs, but this modern, minimalist Bird on a Wire Coat Rack from Huset is one of my favorites. (They would look perfect in my yellow-themed apartment…wink, wink…friends and family). If your home does not have a coat closet, what have you found to be the most stylish and sturdy way to store jackets, purses, keys and such out in the open? (Several readers like featured blogger Erin Loechner’s quirky entryway). If you’re still looking for a coat rack alternative, would you use these guys? We’d love to know.

One of my perennial favorites, Blu Dot, made a noteworthy showing at ICFF this year. The company designs furniture that is functional while remaining aesthetically pleasing and not so serious.
Blu Dot unveiled a new line products at ICFF, among them this powder-coated steel and walnut coat rack. Representative of their fresh designs, this piece is more even more refined than previous pieces without losing the company’s sense of fun with its bright, shiny colors. No need for a coat rack? Then use it instead as a modern sculpture.
Finally! A use for all those trophies that end up collecting dust, yet seem too dear to toss altogether.
Over at Design*Sponge, they’re sharing a how-to from Colleen for making this funky hanging rack. (Who else thinks it would be great in Erin’s entryway?) It’s so fun that’s it’s going to have me eyeing trophies longingly at the flea markets.
This week’s “What the…?” is the Baobab Coat Rack by Belgium designer Xavier Lust for MDF Italia. Caitlin swooped in with the correct answer within mere minutes of our posting.
Available only in this shade of milky white, the coat rack was designed to loosely mirror the form of the baobab tree. Design bonus — when there are no coats to be hung, it holds its own as a piece of sculptural art.
