I hate spoiling TV shows for people, so I won’t say anything about last night’s season 6 premiere of Mad Men other than, “OMG!” Did you watch? Did you love it? Like many of you, I partially watch because I’m head-over-heels for the 60′s fashion and mid-century designs. Unfortunately, it’s becoming more difficult to find those gorgeous solid wood highboys and Danish-modern china cabinets for a steal. People are catching on! Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know that a new pope, Pope Francis, was elected on March 13. The biggest news, though, is that he’s the first non-European pope in history. (Jorge Mario Bergoglio is from Buenos Aires, Argentina.) With Italy being all over the news, I figured I’d take this opportunity to give you a virtual vacay to Roma this Monday morning. Did you hear the news? Carrot orange is our chosen hue for March’s Color of the Month. It’s bold, vibrant and definitely represents the upcoming season to a T. I mean, it was practically a unanimous vote when meeting newcomer Kelly Smith-Trimble pitched the color with a picture of fresh-out-of-the-garden carrots and other spring-inspired favorites. We couldn’t resist!

Mood Board Monday: Oscar Red Carpet Faves

I don’t know about you, but I was glued to the sofa last night for The Oscars. I even took my own advice and threw (well, talked my friend into throwing) an Oscar party with champagne, truffle popcorn and creme puffs. One of my favorite parts about Oscar night is watching the stars arrive on the red carpet. That’s when you get to find out that Anne Hathaway picked out her Prada gown a mere three hours before the show; that Jennifer Lawrence hadn’t eaten all day and is STARVING (as she told Ryan Seacrest); and that Joseph Gordon-Levitt had Sally Field tie his bow tie in the car on the way there. (Stars — they’re just like us!)

Shamelessly Adorable Mood Board Monday: Cats + Kittens

Ask anyone around here to name three things about me and they’ll probably say “she loves cats” as one. It’s true! My friends always send me the latest and greatest cat links from BuzzFeed; I’m always checking in on Lolcats for a morning laugh; and I definitely bought kitty flats to complete my fall/winter wardrobe. (I have this ear warmer, too.) I just love ‘em. I have two of my own at home, D’Artagnan and Mahala. They were both adopted and are now spoiled to death, of course. This week, I decided to ditch colors and patterns and make something that’s shamelessly cute for your Monday enjoyment.

Mood Board Monday: Wintergreen

So, I’m sure you saw our beautiful Color of the Month for February, robin’s egg blue. I couldn’t help but be in awe of Liz‘s wintergreen pitch (it was actually runner-up!), though. I mean, whoa. It’s brighter than mint green but greener than turquoise. You can even say it resembles the Pantone hue Cockatoo. Many of us loved it paired with pink, gold and neutrals and felt it would be a perfect representation of February. But, you know how our Color of the Month meetings can get. Maybe we’ll put wintergreen back into the running for spring. What do you think?
