It’s that time of year again. Pantone just released their Color of the Year for 2012: Tangerine Tango.
This vivacious, reddish orange hue was chosen for its radiating passion and natural warmth – two characteristics that occur when you marry red and yellow. In the coming year, we can expect Tangerine Tango “to provide the energy boost we need to recharge and move forward.” This bold color evokes a feeling of heat, drama and exoticism, while still coming across as comfortable and friendly. During the cold and dreary months of December, I was wondering if I would see this color in stores, on the runways or in interiors, but I’ve seen it EVERYWHERE.
Tangerine Tango looks stunning in every room setting (as an accent color or splashed on the walls), on every skin tone and on just about every product and accessory you can think of. I’m crazy for this bold beauty, can’t you tell? It looks like I need to alter my Christmas wish list… |

Designer Shelly Riehl David shows how much of an impact Tangerine Tango can make in this small sitting area. Aqua walls help create a balance of cool and warm components next to the chair, while additional hints of tangerine on the wall prints help tie the entire look together.

The best way to spice up an all-white space is to add Moroccan leather poufs in tangerine, of course. Pulled from the rug’s intricate pattern, the tangerine pieces provide just the right amount of vigor. (Don’t you just love that pouf?)

Designer Jaymes Richardson suggests using your favorite color (Tangerine Tango, maybe?) for key pieces to make the color feel more special. Plus, the room will instantly feel more vibrant and energetic with the integration of a bold, new hue.

Not only has tangerine been popping into interiors, but it’s been lighting up the runways, too. Fashion designers from Tommy Hilfiger to Elie Tahari are incorporating this striking color into their spring collections.

And what did I tell you? It looks beautiful on everything, doesn’t it? Pillows, sunglasses and even kitchen utensils are coming out in this shade of orange.

I prefer this color used as statement pieces when its magnetic energy and warmth can really shine.
What’s your take on Tangerine Tango? Would you add some of this luscious hue to your home? Tell us in the comments!
