We had a little fun yesterday, but now we’re ready to reveal the color we’re really crushing on for April. This month’s color team meeting was a face-off of delicious proportions. The deliberations came down to two fruity hues: Abbi’s crisp, fresh apple green versus Marianne’s bright raspberry. We were torn: Both colors freshen up your home for spring, and they even look beautiful together:

This photo by Tamar of Nest Pretty Things perfectly sums up my mood today: I’m ready to spend the afternoon in the sun, if it wasn’t for the layer of late-breaking snow. Sigh. Decor-wise, this living room from Society Social’s magalog evokes the same feeling. The polka-dotted pillows and fun flamingo wallpaper bring springy vibrancy into the space, while the faux fur keeps the room cozy enough for (yet another) cold night.

As you might have guessed, I’m not too happy with Punxsutawney Phil (or rather, his handler.). What colors are helping you endure this latest cold snap?

Can you believe it’s only 3 weeks till Easter? Time to hop to it and get crafting! For a fun twist on a traditional Easter basket, try a painted pail instead — it’ll look great filled with treats on Easter morning and is just the right size for stashing toys or craft supplies the rest of the year.

All you need is a metal pail, spray paint and round stickers. Get step-by-step instructions here: Easy Kids' Craft: Cute Easter Bucket With Ribbon Roses

The ribbon roses may look complicated but they’re actually a snap. Wired ribbon and scissors are all you need — no sewing necessary. Learn how to make them here:

If you can remember, we chose pink champagne as our Color of the Month last January. We felt it was fresh, bubbly and the perfect hue to bring us into the new year. Exactly a year later, I still feel the same way about this soft and feminine shade of pink. So, raise a glass, if you will, to pink champagne. Cheers!

Months ago, Camille pitched fuchsia in our Color of the Month meeting. A more subdued hue won, but none of us could stop thinking about this vivacious shade of pink. With a summer surrounded by bright neons, I felt it was only right to end summer with a bold favorite that can easily take us right into the next season. Think fuchsia blazers and ballet flats. I’ve never been a true “pink girl,” so I like to use pink in small doses in my wardrobe and home (I may have a hot-pink vase and pillow). But, let me say this, I’ve seen a room covered in floor-to-ceiling fuchsia and it was a knock-out.

The weather may still be saying winter in our area, but the calendar says spring. Our Color of the Month picks for April couldn’t reflect the mood more: violet and pink for redbuds and tulips, and the cool, neutral gray of a rainy sky.

I’ve always been a little bit jealous that men have a chair that seems designed just for their enjoyment of relaxing while they watch sports — the Barcalounger.

This velvet chaise by Graham & Green, however, seems to have been designed with women in mind. Sorry fellas, but this one is for lounging in while peacefully flipping through a magazine.

“Single”, “In a Relationship”, “It’s Complicated”…no matter my Facebook relationship status, this girl loves her some Valentine’s Day. I go all out with cards, cupcakes, gifts and decorations. In fact, if it was up to me, I’d have one room in my home decorated as a year-round homage to the sweetest day of the year. I must not be the only one, because I keep coming across designs that look like they’re straight out of a Valentine’s Day card. Here are five of my favorites:

Pink Feminine Girl's Valentine's Day Bedroom

Isn’t this the most fantastic girl’s bedroom you’ve ever seen? This makes me wish I could be a tweenager again, maybe. I love the wide range of pinks incorporated into this design. And the orange and green poufs keep this space from looking like a Hollywood Barbie dressing room. If this room were a card, it would be the one that makes all of the kids in class jealous. That giant headboard! That glitterific vanity! That cute deer! So many whimsical touches to ooh and aah over. Image from Little Lovables.

It’s two days into February, and I’m already craving spring flowers, springtime decor and tons of sunshine. Fortunately, the weather prognosticating groundhog Punxsutawney Phil and his Southern comrade General Beau Lee, with the help of their fickle shadows, have declared we’ll be enjoying an early spring!

Thank goodness! Especially for those in the path of this colossal storm. So, get your spring fever on with five of my favorite spring blooms and colorful rooms.

Nothing says “Hello spring!” quite like a vibrant shade of orange, especially in the kitchen. I would love to sit back and enjoy those mimosas while gazing upon a vase filled with these variegated tulips. Design by Celia Berliner
