Interior designer Nate Berkus debuts The Nate Berkus Collection at Target, online and in stores, this month.
My favorite piece in Nate’s line is the lacquered tortoise shell. Nate’s inspiration for the look came from a real shell that his parents brought home from their honeymoon in Mexico. The souvenir always hung above the family’s fireplace — and, to Nate, shells have reminded him of home ever since.
What do you think? Are you intrigued by the shell, or are you — well, shell-shocked?
One of the really great things about my job is the chance to preview new products before they make it to stores. Usually it’s a candle or pillow but every now and again it’s something unexpected but totally fun — like these pet costumes from Target!
While I don’t exactly plan on taking my pups trick-or-treating, I couldn’t resist dressing them up for fun. Target’s expanded their already (super!) adorable selection for 2012 so if you haven’t considered decking out your dog before – this may be the year.
Here’s my little girl, Sophie, modeling one of the new costumes that just hit the shelves. She’s a 3-year old Schnoodle (Schnauzer/Poodle) and, as you can tell, she’s pretty jazzed to be mommy’s little piggy:
Not to be outdone, Madeline, my 9-year-old Bichon Frise, strutted her stuff as a cheerleader:
Didn’t get your Missoni fix from Target’s collection? (As of this writing, I’m still waiting on the zig-zag socks I ordered to be shipped to me. Frowny face.) Well, never fear. You can make your own Missoni magic on a pumpkin, like artist/blogger Alisa Burke did here!
Paint is a playful way to give Halloween pumpkins some flair without resorting to the hassle and mess of carving. You don’t have to stop at one pattern, either. Alisa gave one gourd a black and white ikat print, and another a colorful suzani. If you keep the color palettes similar, all the prints will look pretty together. If you are anything like millions of design lovers, chances are you were waiting for Target’s website to just let you in this morning. Today is the first day that the Missoni for Target line is on sale and the demand for this iconic fashion house’s zig-zag patterns and bold color pairings at reasonable prices was so high that many shoppers were met with an error page when they logged on to the retailer’s site.
Once I was finally let in, I wasn’t completely surprised to find that a lot of the truly desirable pieces where already out of stock. Obviously I wasn’t the only one thinking that I really needed one of those blankets for fall. Ever the optimist, I’m hoping that Target is holding a secret stash in reserve and will replenish their supplies. Did any of you score some Missoni?
This is your friendly style PSA: The Missoni for Target collection hits stores on September 13! There are over 400 pieces in this collection, but designer runs at Target sell out fast, so it’s best to go in with a plan. Luckily, a sneak peek of the signature zigzagged goods surfaced online yesterday.
Of course, the Italian fashion house is best known for its kaleidoscope knits, and there are some great sweaters, dresses, and blankets in the look book…but I think I’m falling hard for the slick mix & match dishes and that dream of a bike. (I’d gladly brave the taxi-jammed streets of NYC if I could tool around on such pretty pedals.) What do you think? Did Target hit the bull’s-eye with this collaboration?
I want to live the life that the family in this Blue and White with Sabrina Soto ad lives. It’s so casual, so effortlessly cool and so well-designed.
Rarely am I such an easy “get” for an ad campaign, but this time they got me. When I went to search for the blue lamp in the ad, sadly, I found that I’m not the only one who’s fallen for Sabrina’s taste. Almost all her blue picks are sold out. Oh well. I’ll be keeping an eye on their stock. In the meantime, I’m soaking up the rest of Sabrina’s totally available advice on Real Estate Intervention.
I’m obsessed with Target’s designer collaborations, from handbags to home goods. I spent an entire paycheck on their Liberty of London collection (yes, my watering can does match my blouse).
The retailer has upped the ante by announcing their new home goods collaboration with New York designer, John Derian.
You can purchase Derian’s vintage-style accessories and quirky art at Target stores and online starting September 5. If you can’t wait until then, check out the preview sale from Gilt Groupe this Friday at 9am.
Sabrina Soto, host of Get it Sold, has partnered with Target to become their Style Expert at Home. We caught up with her to find out about her new role and her essential summer decorating accessories.
