Our July 29th giveaway was all about the world’s most well-designed flags. While there were many intricate designs mentioned as favorites — like Maryland’s history-heavy coat of arms and Brazil’s colorful, geometry-loving flag — it’s no surprise that the Stars and Stripes of the good ol’ U.S.A took the top spot as most-loved flag design.
Congrats to our four winners: Marcia, Kyra, Peg and Geri! These ladies are taking home Union Jack pillows from Henry Road to adorn their homes in iconic flag style. All four have replied to our congratulatory messages, but normally we give our winners two weeks to reply before we choose a new random winner.
The royal wedding, Kate and Will’s tour of North America, The King’s Speech and Harry Potter mania have created a new British invasion. What better way to get your Anglophile on than with these charming Union Jack pillows from Henry Road? The vibrant red, white and blue palette provides a pop of color that’s perfect in traditional and contemporary homes alike. Add a couple of these to your living room, and you’ll be singing “God Save the Queen” in no time.
To be entered for a chance to win one of four pillows, simply leave us a comment in the field below before 12/11c Monday, August 1. (That’s right, there will be four winners!)
This week’s question: When it comes to design, what’s your favorite national or state flag? Wales’ big red dragon? The colorful design of South Africa? How about the symbolic red sun on New Mexico’s state flag?

On July 29, 1981, a 10-year-old me slept in the living room so I could wake up in the wee hours of the morning to watch the entire wedding of Lady Diana to Prince Charles on the family TV. If I had been older, or if my parents had been just as enthused as me about all the pomp and circumstance, I would have thrown a royal wedding party. Fortunately, as we approach Kate and Prince William’s big day, there’s that newfangled invention called the DVR, so I can watch the nuptials on my own schedule. Which makes the thought of throwing a small fete with my anglophile friends even more appealing. (Hey, I’m not too obsessed. It’s not like I’m knitting the entire royal wedding party like some people. Although I do have the perfect wedding hat!) Here are four of my favorite sources for inspiration and purchasable decor for what our friends across the pond call street parties.
From the bunting to the cake stands to the Union Jack teapot vase , I love so many of the options available at the UK party store …and all things nice.
