Colorado or Croatia?
There have been some very interesting comments so far, please keep them coming. Your guesses for the location of the next home have been incredibly imaginative, and have literally ranged far and wide. And they’ve also ranged not very far at all. But I can go ahead and rule out a couple of places for you.
There are quite a few comments speculating on back-to-back homes in Colorado. Locations called out include Denver, Boulder, Frisco, Estes Park and more. One poster even suggested “a different perspective might be the house across the street” from the 2007 Winter Park home.
Even though the state features enough natural beauty and spectacular locations for dozens of HGTV Dream Homes, the 2008 home is definitely not going to be in Colorado. Plus, I think someone’s already living in that house across the street.
And in a land far, far away from Colorado, one comment suggested the next HGTV Dream Home should be a “nice villa built in Croatia.” Interesting suggestion, we’ll keep it in mind, but not this time.
Thanks again for all the comments, we look forward to seeing more in the weeks to come. And don’t forget, the 2007 HGTV Dream Home Giveaway ends this Friday, Feb. 16, and you can enter once a day for a chance to win until then.

A home in Vermont would be awesome.
I think it could be Winter Park, Colorado, again.
I would love the perfect view in my neck of the woods – - near Tacoma, Washington, looking at the water. However, HGTV homes (and most of the winners) don’t seem to have much of a Northwest connection, so I’m not too hopeful.
We have been transplanted in Georgia for at least 30 years now. We might suggest North Georgia for beautiful views, lots of space, waterfalls, lakes, plenty of wildlife, and little tiny towns with great coffee! We still live on the edge of Atlanta, but many of our friends are heading just a little North for retirement and relocation!!
I think and hope, that your next house, will be in the Great Beautiful Northwest, Washington State! There are more than sceneries here, it is an oasis of beauty, in green. Coupled with magnificent sunsets that kiss the mountains, and make them blush! Or maybe, the white carpets of winter time, that sparkle brighter than a summer day! All this with majestic mountain views, woodland wildlife birds and animals. Not to mention, our great Salmon runs! Yep, I think the next location should be Washington! And if not, it should be sometime soon!
T
I think there are a lot of great ideas. To me it should have the four seasons to include wonderful spring and summer flowers and colorful trees in the fall to take a walk and russel in the leaves. Have fruit trees and a garden. Not to hard of a winter though. One that you can see the beauty of the snow on the trees and deer in the back yard. Water for fishing, swimming and boating. Hiking year round. Just to be able to enjoy the beauty of these great United States. Michigan was commented on many times. All of our Great Lakes are beautiful and offer the year round enjoyment. Our economy here in Michigan could also use the boost. Michigan offers some great places for family and friends. It is a water wonderland with all the inland lakes to enjoy also. There is a great park system and also good hunting. I think it is a pretty good all around enjoyable place, except for the economy right now.
I think next year’s Dream House will be an ocean- front home in Maine.
I know where it is going to be. My home town.
Chattanooga, TN
I’m not sure if you’ve had a Dream Home built along the New Jersey shore or in New England…they would both be excellent choices for a grand dream home!!!!
You should have dream home 2009 in Ashtabula OH or near there. There are some really amazing areas there near Lake Erie.
This is ofcourse if the dream house 2008 is not already in Ashtabula which I’m sure there is a very strong possibility.
Thanks,
Kimberly
HI, I JUST MOVED FROM IOWA TO COLORADO TO LIVE WITH MY SISTER AND HER HUSBAND. I AM A 49 YEAR OLD FEMALE WHO HAS BEEN DISABLED FOR 4 YEARS FROM A BRAIN TUMOR SURGERY AND DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH I WOULD LOVE TO WIN THIS HOUSE NOT ONLY FOR ME, BUT FOR MY SISTER, MY BROTHER-IN-LAW, OUR 3 DOGS AND 2 CATS. IT WOULD BE A DREAM COME TRUE. THEY ARE PASTRY ROUTE DRIVERS WHO WORK VERY HARD AND THEY ARE NOT GETTING ANY YOUNGER, WE COULD EVEN BRING OUR AILING PARENTS OUT AND LET THEM SPEND THEIR LAST DAYS IN SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL AND TO DO THAT, THE HOUSE WOULD HAVE TO SHOW UP IN COLORADO SPRINGS, COLORADO.
I believe that HGTV would really have a great showcase of a home, if they now built a green house (one that really conserves energy – following Ed Begley’s example). Can you imagine a fully energy efficient home, including all luxuries and amenities included in your beautiful houses, but a home that would be self-sufficient as far as energy production, conservation and water filtering, etc. This would certainly tie in to Mr. Begley’s program – which is excellent – would give most valuable information on how to build green houses and would certainly break the general image held by popular opinion that a green house must be ugly or not pleasing to the eye.
A beautiful location would be Arizona, although I haven’t been there, I have seen pictures and heard that it would be an ideal location for this house.
A nice ocean view…sunrises and sunsets…water, water, water on either coastline!
The Oregon Coast
I WOULD LOVE TO LOOK OUT THE WINDOW AND SEE DEER, TREES AND A LARGE FISHING HOLE.
All of your homes are so wonderfull that it could be anywhere, but I think it might be in Fla. A change from the cabin in the mountains
Chattnanoga TN has lots to over or Georgia
I’m wondering if they mean water/beach on one side and mountains/cliffs on the other side? Alaska would fit, but like Colorado it’s cold in the winter… so maybe Hawaii!?! Anywhere they choose is going to be beautiful though!
The next HGTV Dream Home will be built in Hawaii!
(Hopefully Maui)
From Winter Park, CO to Winter Park, FL.
A wonderful setting for the house of 08
would be a log home in Leavenworth,Wa.
I would love to win the dream home give away as would alot of other people.
My ideal spot for a home would be in the Tennessee area in Anderson or Knox county. This is a beatiful area.
I think Kentucky would be a great place for a nice dream home. I’m a big HGTV fan. Thanks for the chance to enter this sweepstakes.
Charlie
I would hope it would be in or around Seattle, WA. The great Pacific Northwest is a perfect place for such a beautifully built home!!
Hawaii, more specifically Molokai. If it is my dream home it should be in Hawaii.
I think the most BEAUTIFUL spot would be near the Mt. Rainier, Washington area. That’s my home, and one of the MOST BEAUTIFUL places to live! Thanks, Janet
these homes are truely a Dream come true for someone very fortunate they are Beautifull!!!I myself would like to see a home built in the Smokey Mountains in Tennessee (what a sight for such a wonderfull home!who knows maybe thats where you’ll build the next home!!!
Hi.
I think your next home should be somewhere on the plains.
bring the hgtv dream home to west memphis ark.
I think the new beautiful home may be set in the Midwest, perhaps Missouri, after all it is the Show Me State
Ocean front property.
How about a city location? New York, Boston, DC?? Renovating a historic city home or flat would be interesting!
I think the next dream home will either be in New Mexico or Hawaii. Either would be great.
I can see myself looking out that window at the beautiful horse farms of Kentucky.and watching the pretty race horses run wild.
I agree that perhaps the different perspective could be a mountain view from further away. We have some beautiful mountain views here in Washington state. Perhaps Mt. St. Helens, Mt. Ranier, or even of Mt. Hood in Oregon. Hmmmm.
I think the next house should be in the Flat Head Valley of Montana. It has wonderful views of the mountain’s and great lakes. Great places to Ski and Snowmobile.
The place for the next HGTV Dream Home would be in Smokey Mountains in North Carolina.Thank for the 2007 home; it belongs to ME.
I think Southern Ohio in Scioto County along the Ohio River would be a wonderful location for my dream home.
I think that the next dream home will be in South Carolina – with an oceanview.. Maybe Seabrook, Edisto Island- Charleston area.. It’s Beautiful there..
Let’s build our next dream home in Napa Valley in California. Lots of beautiful weather and great wine – aaahhhhhh, life!!!!!
I think the dream home SHOULD be on the shore of a lake in Adirondak Park in New York State. The views are beautiful in both summer and winter!
There seems to be many beautiful skylines in the State of Arizona The magnificent architecture that HGTV Designers create coupled with the breath taking Red Mountains,I think, would create an irrestable urge to enter for many!
This particular location would combine a usually “warm” climate with a mountainous vacation home! Traveling to this location during any season of the year would be never be a problem.
I live in the Midwest–my dream home would be here and allow me to retire to a wonderful place that we(my husband and I) could share with our family and friends.
Would love to see an HGTV home built in North Louisiana near the Arkansas Border or near the Mississippi River. Plantation style home.
I love HGTV but I would like to see the next home on the east coast. We have very pretty areas along the Atlantic Ocean.
i will love to win a dream come true?
I believe it is in the Lake’s Bsin area of the California Sierra Nevada mountains. Specifically it could be Grizzley Creek or more likely Gold Mountain. There is also a possibility it is nearer to Trucky or Tahoe City. Either way it will include spectacular views of mountains, rivers, snowy peaks, wild country, rural valleys and maybe even trains. (I’m not telling where my favorite lot is that overlooks the Feather River and the Wild Buttes of a huge wilderness area.
Big Island of Hawaii
I think somewhere in upstate New York would be a very nice area for the next dream home—there are lots of beautiful scenic locations.
posted by Mary-Feb.13,2007
Maybe near Seattle on Bainbridge Island. A view of Mt. Ranier and the Pacific Ocean would be awesome!
Hopefully it is not here in Florida …to many storms have destroyed this beautiful area. It would be ashamed to see a dream home get destroyed in a hurricane. I am just being honest. Also the Carolina’s would not be a good place either becuase they storms are bad there too. Atleast near the Atlantic Ocean side.
Somewhere on the coast of North Carolina would be great! In that way I could drive from Michigan to move in. If it was in Hawaii, I would have to go through airport security, with belt and shoes off, and who needs that nonsense; if I already lived in Hawaii, why would I want to move anywhere else?
Michigan – Northern that is – It is a beautiful area, plenty of land, wildlife, all 4 seasons and tons of things to do – always.
If mentioning Croatia is a clue…then I think the Washington state coastline would be a good guess. (There is a very rough similiarity between the two.)
On the other hand, the Southwest has never been represented with an HGTV Dream Home. Sedona, Arizona or Taos, New Mexico would be awe-inspring locations!!
Sedona AZ is one of the most beautiful places in the US, and has so much sun you could probably build a home that was powered entirely by solar energy.
Well, I have looked at all the past locations for HGTV’s DH and it seems to me that a logical place would be somewhere in the middle of the country for a change. The Ozarks, perhaps? Not as rugged as the Rockies or the Smokies but beautiful nonetheless.
Sedona AZ is one of the most beautiful places in the US, and has so much sun you could probably build a home that was powered entirely by solar energy.
I picture a palatial boat house on crystal blue waters, with a floor of glass to view the aquatic life under foot. How’s that for a view with a different perspective?
I think a venture into Aerica’s last wilderness would be a welcome adventure—I’m talking about ALASKA!!! My dream is to retire to Homer, Alaska and I think the majestic views and the promise of a new adventure would make ALASKA the PERFECT place for HGTV’s Dream Home 2008!
I THINK YOU SHOULD LOCATE YOUR 2008 DREAM HOUSE IN THE NEWEST SKI RESORT IN THE NATION, TAMMARACK,IDAHO. ABOUT 2 HOURS NORTH OF BOISE IN THE BOISE NATIONAL FOREST, OVERLOOKING LAKE CASCADE…..AWSOME
Jackson Wyoming would be an awesome place for a “DREAM HOME” Lots of beautiful scenery and wildlife, Great people who make wonderful neighbors. Jacksons is the place.
Florida,Florida,Florida.
If you have ever been to Park City, Utah, you would know what a beautiful location that would be! I love the four seasons and the crisp mountain air is just wonderful. Consider Utah!
My husband and I raised 3 children on 4 acres in Nebraska. Wildlife is plentiful and so are neighbors! This home would be a wonderful place to leave to our children and the grandchildren as a retreat from such a hectic life. Before I leave this world I AM going to learn how to ski and snow board, even if I go downhill bottom first! What a great place to retire and enjoy our wonder years.
Thanks Deborah
It would have to be in Arizona, with sweeping views of the mysterious Superstition Mountains surrounded by pristine Sonoran Desert. Or in Tucson, with the Catalinas in the background.
Still a lot of land down there to choose from.
The winter weather is perfect – Spring and Fall are memorable and summer is the harsh season (so you spend your summer in Flagstaff!)
You intimate a home with multiple view rooms. So why not a different view from each room? For example, how about a home on a hill of one of the Puget Sound islands with available views of the sound, the Olympic Peninsula and the mainland.
I think the 2008 dream home should be maui, hawaii or new york city, new york.
How about somewhere along the East coast.
I would like a dream home in Connecticut. Where I can go and visit family. Also they have great seasons.
A sprawling log home ranch in Montana would be a great retreat for a young growing family or retiring couple. Not too far from the mountains or civilization with all the seasons to enjoy. Close to White Fish,Evergreen,or Columbia Falls with wide open skies.
I would love to see something with lots of windows, a water view, and serene, open spaces inside. Lots of natural light and sleek features. Maybe a little more contemporary.
If guessing right means I’ll win the house, or the Colorado house this year then my guess is Lake Winnepesaukee, New Hampshire.
Mountains all around with beautiful lakes interwining and views for all ages. Boating and fishing along with everything else you could want.4 Seasons can’t be beat.
Go East, TR
Sounds like a warmer view, tropical or ocean front…I’m thinking in Florida or California.
One of America’s hidden secrets is Historic Natchez, Mississippi on bluffs high above the MS. River… Streets lined with moss draped trees, beautiful scenery, rolling hills, and beautiful architecture in every direction…. Wonderful food, and people… Just a few hours away from New Orleans, 1 hr. from Baton Rouge and South Louisiana… This would be a fantastic place for a HGTV Dream Home! I highly recommend it!
The beautiful Adirondack mountans in New York State.
I know that where ever you decide to build this house it would be an awsome sight but I like the coast, so any where along the coast I feel it would be beauthiful, I’m not taking away from all of the other beautiful places in this country of ours, but I like the coast, even though I wouldn’t mind living in Colorado in this beautifull house.
Thank you Ana
I think it should be some where warm next year. Hawaii, California, Arizona, new mexico, Puerto Rico, US virgin islands. All sound good to me!!!!
I grew up in Colorado, and I think you picked a great spot for a Dream House. I now live in Crawfordville, FL and think it would be a great place for a Dream House. Another suggestion is Charleston, South Carolina (my favorite city.) Thanks, Shelly
Again the best view I can think of is wherever I’m looking out the window of my new HGTV Dream Home. However, I do have another place that I think is highly underrated — Often overlooked for its more popular cousin Cape Cod, Cape Ann has just as much natural beauty to offer. Home to Gloucester the nations oldest fishing port and Rockport with it’s well know artist colony. Winslow Homer was inspired by this area’s beauty and so will anyone who takes the time to visit. This would be a great site for the next HGTV Dream Home.
Tennesee, with all it’s natural beauty, would be an ideal spot to spend our retirement years.
My choice would be north central Arkansas- specifically Greer’s Ferry Lake area. Beautiful area with an awesome, clean lake and “mountains” (for the midwest anyway!)
If you want ocean views…how about Newport, Rhode Island. I’d live there any day. It’s close to Providence, Boston, and semi-close to NYC. Not to mention gorgeous. A PERFECT place for a dream home.
2008 Dream Home no matter where it is located will be a Dream Come True for some Lucky Family. All the past Dream Homes have been out of this World. And any family would be lucky to call it their Home. I will keep Dreaming for now. Thanks
Northern Michigan, I agree it is the most beautiful area, plenty of land, wildlife, all 4 seasons and tons of things to do – always. I haven’t been up north for a few years but I’m sure it’s still just as beautiful.
An ocean view with moutains would be awesome!! But you guys have great taste, you have chosen great locations so I can’t wait to hear where it will be.
My husband and I raised 3 children on 4 acres in Nebraska. This is a wonderful state for having all four seasons of the year. Wonderful wildlife to enjoy wether your a spectator or hunter. put a sprawling long home ranch on 5-10 acres and I could call it home for retirement and will it to my grandchildren for a retreat for years to come. think twice…right in the middle of the U.S., you can go any direction to anywhere!
No one has mentioned the vineyards of California, like Napa Valley or Sonoma County. Wouldn’t that be a beautiful place from a dream home? Some of the terrain in Croatia reminds me of California.
almost forgot!!! Calistoga, California. (Or San Fran)
I think that a home along the St Lawerance seaway in NY would be Great. Beauty all seasons, fishing, boating & not far from the finger lakes.
I have Systemic Lupus and a son who suffers from
anxiety, depression, and episodes of Paranoia.
I would love to live in Colorado away from the
stress of the world in which we live daily, as
well as take care of my son, Jimmy. As much as
I would love to live here, my heart tells me to
think of our troops overseas fighting for our
“Freedom.” I feel that HGTV should build it’s
next “Dream Home” in North Carolina where many
of our troops are trained at Fort Bragg. Or
Possibly near Fort Benning, Georgia. This would
give these troops something to look forward too,
and have many of them eagerly entering HGTV’s
new 2008 “Dream Home Contest.
May God Bless HGTV,
and our “Troops”
Next Dream Home must be on a rocky seacoast with beautiful water and sunsets to be like Crotia. My guess would Oregon or Northern California coastline. I’d take either!
i’m living the DREAM! in the middle of oregon!
a little river place, a small town, a big smile!
Hi,
Hawaii or Rhode Island would be ideal for the 2008 home. Both have lots of coastline and personality. If not one of those, please choose a location overlooking the ocean. We’re tired of mountain homes and need a change. A home over- looking the ocean would be so refreshingly beautiful. Thanks.

Feb. 13, 2007
I think you’re looking at Washington or Oregon. I’d probably pick Northern Michigan but the beauty of this area is a well kept secret so shhhhh… Go with the wild Northwest and I’ll support you1
Austin, Texas
You haven’t built any dream home in New Hampshire, this is a tax free state on many items, a beautiful state with the 4 seasons and then some. The White Mountains are just breath taking. Hopefully you will come this way for 2008
A lot of people have been talking about the Seattle area, or elsewhere in Washington. Being an “Eastsider” (the area just east of Seattle) I think that anywhere in this part of Washington would be the best choice. We have water, we have REAL mountains, we have year round outdoor activities, we have JOBS (something you’d need if you actually want to KEEP your dream home) and we have one of the most expensive housing markets in the country. We even have a RAINFOREST!!!
Because the market is so high priced, most people just plain can’t afford to buy in. Our home’s value has doubled in the 4 years that we have owned here, and it was already higher than the rest of the nation. When a condo can’t be had for under $350,000, your dream home really is a dream come true for *anyone*.
Plus, in the Seattle area everything is “about 30 minutes away”, and you have several major cities (and military bases, for more jobs and some seriously well deserving applicants!) close at hand.
So even if this coming year’s DREAM HOME isn’t in the Seattle area, I think enough people have brought it up that you should start planning one here soon, before even you can’t afford to build here anymore!
2008 DREAM HOME IN BRANSON, MISSOURI.
I will love the HGTV dream home at any location! However, I believe that an ideal spot would be anywhere along the northeast coast. A Maine get away along the rocky edge of the Atlantic! I CAN’T WAIT TO SIGN UP TO WIN NEXT YEAR!
NORDLAND, WASHINGTON or ANYWHERE IN THAT AREA, PORT TOWNSEND, SEQUIM, or even PORT ANGELES! PORT TOWNSEND is where they filmes An Officer and A Gentleman. It is a beautiful Victorian town!!!
It will be in Miami, Florida
Colorado ,,of course–or Utah !!
I would love to see the home in New orleans…or along the mississippi coastline. They went through so much with the hurricanes that it would be a nice change to have the dream house in an area where dreams are needed. I live in Florida..a native to all the hurricanes (cold showers and all)…. Im just happy for the ones who’s dream come true! Good luck everyone!!
New Orleans, Louisiana. Lots of culture and fun! It’s all still there and more.
It has to be Hawaii!!
I THINK THE NEXT HOME WILL BE BUILT ON THE EAST COAST LIKE BALTIMORE, BOSTON OR PENNSYLVANIA LOTS OF SPACE, GREAT ACTIVITIES, COMMUNITY MINDED AND BEAUTIFUL VIEWS AT ALL ENDS OF THE STATES
I think an HGTV Dream Home should be an environmentally friendly (”green”) home overlooking Lake Placid, NY. What a remarkable place to see and experience all four seasons and to put up a responsible and sustainably built showcase of a home for the mainstream of America to experience!
I think one of the old strip mine would be a great place for a home.you can see for ever and half a day, lots of ponds for fish and wildlife.I am a retired coal miner most underground so it would be nice to see the sun come up.
If you really want a different perspective AZ has some spectacular views with gorgeous sunsets. However, my ideal local would be the Big Island or the ME coast.
Lake Isabella, California, or Kauai, either works for me!
what about the area from the movie “On a golden pond” that looked pretty.
I have lived in Alaska for 13 years and truly believe that this is A Dream State. That being said, I think a fantastic spot for a Dream Home would be along the Kenai River here in Alaska. A view of the mountains and a wonderful fishing spot would be amazing for anyone who needs a place to get away from it all. It is a sight to behold.
I think in the Hamptons would be wonderful. Of course based on budget it will only be 800 sq ft, 4 rooms, but I’m sure it would be a true DREAM HOUSE. If not there then I bet you’re headed near Lake Tahoe, CA.
I THINK IT WILL BE ON THE SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA COASTLINE.
I have visited my son in Colorado who has also vacationed in Croatia. Both are beautiful areas but I think Washington State is where the next Dream Home 2008 will be built. It has almost everything I would like around me and I can fish for bass just like I do here in Florida.
The next dream house should be in the berkshires on the ny/mass border 1 1/2 hours out of ny city or maybe along the hudson river near saugrities lighthouse
Hello
I live in Florida , Orlando , you do not see house over here like the style maybe are hiden , but will be a great Idea to build a house here in Orlando, Winter Park, Oviedo, Chulota etc. We do not have Mountains but we have a lot pine tree and Area the look country. Will be unique, and that no matter the weather, bugs, etc, I Know house like that can handle everythings. REally will be GREAT to build one over here
The perfect place to build the next dream home would be in Savannah Georgia
I am sure that you will pick the most beautiful area that would best suit the needs of the show. I feel however that you should not build a home outside of the United States unless they are a friend and supporter of the United States, Like Ireland or Scotland. Now a a Dream Home looking out over the cliffs or Ireland or Scotland, well that would be pretty well a Dream.
I am second generation Irish American, I have never been home and my mother who is now past has never ever been home either. Her dream was to someday step foot on the land she was made from, it is so much my desire as well. Someday with Gods help I hope to not only step onto the land, but live there part time as well.
My family have now almost all passed away, and I only have prayers and hopes to take with me, my best friends and daughter and grandson will join me in our dedication to wonderful parents and carry their memories back to our homeland.
So I think everyone deserves a home of thier Dreams, so many of us only have this type of avenue to look upon to help them hold on to that dream, A Dream of a Home beyond compare!
Thanks so much!
The North Georgia Mountains would make a great location for the 2008 HGTV dream home. I never dreamed I would say that after living in places like the coast of Virginia, the Mountains of Colorado and beautiful Washington State.
Building a home in a place that one would never dream of is perfect. The home is where the heart is and I think HGTV could build a home that would warm anyones heart and home where ever that may be in our beautiful United States of America!
On the Florida or Georgia Coast
The pefect view? -A view of the ocean from a tropical island like Hawaii
In beautiful Montana with it’s mountains, plains, lakes. What a view.
The beautiful Big Sky country. Montana
How about Hawaii!!! great location, spectacular views!
I think somewhere’s in the desert would be “cool” we have seen so many different areas, I would like to see what you would do in that scenario!
As the snow is falling outside my window this very moment, I am hoping the next Dreamhome has a fantastic view of blue calm oceam with miles of long sandy beaches, radiant sunshie and magnificent palm trees.
The lovely Ozark Moutains in Missouri would be a beautiful site. Table Rock or one of the other lakes in the Branson Area would have the best of both worlds, water and mountains. In his novel “The Shepherd of the Hills,” author, Harold Bell Wright said when God looked at all he had created and declared that it was good he must have been looking at the Ozarks.
As a young woman I traveled through the mountains of Wyoming and I just dearly loved the beautiful country and it stole my heart. I think that, Wyoming would be a exceptionally beauitful locale for a new home. The water falls, the fresh rivers and rainbow trout, the ruggedness of the place yet, at the same time such beauty. It calls to ones soul and never lets go.
It is time for a wonderful urban location – how about the lake shore in chicago. The home can be very trendy and show off the delights of city living!
Good luck to all, and may the one who needs it most win =)2007/ 2008 is going to be mine. and i like a waterview, lake, river, beach. I’ll pick
west viginia, on a river, own creek for hydro power (net-metered of course), rolling farm land
you pick the color. thank you.
I live in Minnesota and it is beautiful here in the summer. 10,000 lakes and the fishing is wonderful. But I would love to live in Hawaii or Utah where it’s warm in the winter.
With a different perspective? Well The Winter Park Home is in Colorado, with snow etc. So a different perspective… Well it could be a lot of things really, but in a similiar type terrain like Colorado, lets say Lake Tahoe or Lake Mead, A beautiful home overlooking a pristine lake. To enjoy those summer sunsets, and those icy winter mornings.. sign me up. Thats my dream home.
I would love to see the 2008 Dream Home be located near the ocean. How about Bodega Bay, California? All of the Dream Homes have been absolutely beautiful whether they are mountain or ocean estates.
Thank you “HGTV”
I think the next home should be in Big Bear, CA. You can surf and snowboard in the same day. Where else can you do that?
I would love the next dream house to be in a year round, green, warm climate. However, my spouse would love to live in Colorado. I will be here to enter wherever it may be. I watch HGTV religously. I have learned so much. My passion is decorating. I have ran out of rooms to decorate. I would love to work with you on any project.
Marilyn Metcalf in Savoy Texas
I would love to see the 2008 Dream Home be located near the ocean. How about Bodega Bay, California? All of the Dream Homes have been absolutely beautiful whether they are mountain or ocean estates.
Thank you “HGTV”
How about Alaskas playground on the Kenai Pensulia or Some where in the Carson Valley of Nevada Both offer unique styles of living .
I lived in Seattle for 16 years and it is a beautiful part of the country. It is always raining there. I live in Missouri now and it would be a great place for the next dream home in Missouri at the Lake of the Ozarks.
Yes,it should be in the great city of Chicago.May be somewhere northwest of it.Thanks for building this dream houses. It keeps us dreaming and hoping…
By the way,i would love to go to Colorado and live there with my wonderfuul family.I will do that this spring as soon as i win this year’sDream house.
Thanks and good luck to all of you out there.Whoever wins it,i am sure has good wishes and will make good use of it.
I think that Indiana would be a great choice for the next Dream Home. We have so many wonderful things to offer and it is a beautiful state.
I think the next dream home 2008 will be built in the great smokey mountains of north carolinia. I could just lay in bed at nights and dream forever.I think that would be a wonderful place to build a dream home. I would be the happiest girl in the whole U.S.A. if I could live there.what a view that would be sitting by a nice cozy fire at nights.I would love it.
Why ya’ll really ought to consider building that next Dream Home on the banks of the beautiful Suwannee River in Suwannee County, Florida. Stephen Foster made the river famous years ago and ya’ll could put the “icing on the cake.” Way Down Upon The Suwannee River…………
I think a seaside home in New England would be cool or maybe a home in Napa.
You should think about building the next Dream House in the “small city” of Cape Girardeau, MO., a university town located in America’s Heartland on the banks of the Mississippi River. One can definitely experience four seasons in these surroundings, and it offers some of the most beautiful scenery in our country. It’s the place to be!
Jackson County, West Virginia along the beautiful Ohio River for breath taking summer, fall, winter and spring.
I think the next HGTV home will be featured in Northside Georgia, maybe, Forsyth County. Beautiful houses and really nice, cool, peaceful environment.
My Dream Home would be on the Atlantic Ocean, Long Island, New York. With severe breathing and many other health issues including problems getting around without my dear son’s help, i am homebound, but wouldn’t it be great to breathe the clean ocean air, relaxing in a beautiful open airy home, lots of windows on one floor. I live in an apartment, second floor. No stairs would be my Dream come true. I would like to also add Long Island is a beautiful place to live or visit. Close to NYC and all that it has to offer, Upstate NY on the Hudson is unbelievably uncrowded and beautiful also. Wherever the Dream Home is built, as in the past, all the homes and locations are a dream come true. One lucky family will live the American dream, living in a beautifully decorared usually, one of a kind original home, on wonderfully landscaped land. Good luck to all.
HGTV has done extremely well thus far. I would definitely like to see another coast or lake dream home. Anywhere the weather is mild year round and lots of golf and fishing.
I think the great Northwest would be great; (I live in the Lost Coast of Ca.)however, I am wondering if a view of the great Grand Canyon is where the new house is going.
Every year I watch to see where your next offering will be. I would have loved winning last year as it would have put me close to my daughter in North Carolina, but no matter that I didn’t, each time you always present a fascinating location. No matter where you choose there will always be something stunning about that particular site and it will always live up to the caliber that HGTV has come to represent.
The rugged rocky coast of far Northern Maine with Atlantic views to stir the soul would be an ideal location for one to contemplate the vastness yet the very fragility of this beautiful planet we live on. If not this time I hope that one year soon that area will be seriously considered.
A dream home in Saugerties,New York would be wonderful with a dream barn for the horse lovers in this very beautiful area.Close to the Horse Shows in the Sun, also skiing, boating on the Hudson, hiking, biking, just about anything you could ask for.
How about Arizona. It sounds nice and warm. Utah would be nice too!!
Think that it is Montana big sky country.
Northern Arkansas, one of the best kept secrets for all its natural beauty…….
I haven’t read all of the suggestions, however, Williamsburg Virginia/James Town area, in my opinion, would be a nice place to build.
There is only one place to build the next dream home and that would be that Toddlin place of Chicago! A home Sinatra would be proud to own, next to the lake, theatres, parks, restaurants, navy pier, boating, hikng, water sports, art museums, sporting events, close to employment centers, the City has it all who wouldn’t want to live there! Truly a dream home for a dream City.
I feel the 2008 home will be somewhere in the New England states.
I think down in Texas by the Oasis restaurant, although I do LOVE the change of seasons.
I would like to see a Dream Home built to accomodate an active military family. The winner of this beautiful Dream Home would choose a family from a list of families who have a spouse who is actively serving to protect the freedoms we have here back in our homeland. I am hoping you will consider this idea to honor our military men and women in the armed forces.
How about the beatiful Sunshine State”, yes Florida,up North like in Gainesville ….
thank you for sharing and give every person the chance to dream , with your Dream Homes.
PS: Of course, our insurance rates are ski-high but still, we have people all over who wants to live in florida.Good Luck!
I’ll cast my vote for Sedona, AZ! What a beautiful place that I will remember always! Pennsylvania is my homeland (for 70 yrs) but I would move to Sedona in a heartbeat.
I’m guessing Alaska for the 2008 Dream Home, I guess beacause that is my dream home place my whole life!!!Please?
Mackinac Island, located in the beautiful state of Michigan, would be an excellent choice for the next Dream Home. Any angle from Mackinac Island,
overlooking one of the Great Lakes of Michigan is simply breathtaking.
I wouldn’t mind seeing the dream home built on the outskirts of San Antonio, Texas in Hill Country. A ranch-style or mediterranean home would be absolutely awesome.
I’m still hoping for Nevada side Lake Tahoe. This year, next year, the year after. Just as long as I win it!
I am from Door County, Wisconsin. One of the most low key, but beautiful places in the united states. There are many other places in the U.S. that are beautiful, but i think Door County would be a great place to one day build a dream house.
Why not a totally energy-self-sufficient home somewhere in the south where sunshine is plentiful? I like the idea of Sedona or Prescott, Arizona. Or perhaps somewhere in New Mexico?
Michigan, Top of lower peninsula. Traverse City area, on the water.
I think the site for the next Dream Home should be in the beautiful state of Michigan, on Mackinac
Island. Mackinac Island has breathtaking views over looking one of the Great Lakes. This island location was used to film “Somewhere in Time,” starring Christopher Reeves and Jane Seymour.
Canadian Lakes, MI—-Great Lakes, Golf Courses and incredible wildlife.
I think a great place would be Canada or Colorado. A great view for me would be my home sitting on-top of mountain over-looking valleys and mountains. Being closer to the sky is the limit for me. Sitting on the porch looking out into the wonderful surroundings and overlooking hills. Listening to the birds while on my porch and drinking a big glass of tea. A place that is so quite that you can hear deers walking and see the birds and other animals. A great view for me, is living with nature.
why not on the michigan side of lake michigan, close to north muskegan, with lots of great bass fishing in the surrounding lakes, lots of wild life , thats where my dream home would be
I think Santa Fe would be great!
How about in the mountains again where there are falls and rivers and lakes and a four season state. It would be very soothing and relaxing.
PAGOSA SPRINGS COLORADO !!!!
What a great place for the next
HGTV DREAM HOME.
I think a great view for a home would be in North Carolina, overlooking the mountains. I could just enjoy waking up in my bed and looking out the window and taking all of the nature surroundings in. I think living on a mountain, overlooking the other mountains and valleys, and trees, would be breath taking. Enjoy walking out onto the patio and looking out into the world. By Flora
Let me tell you about beautiful East Tennessee. Interstate system crosses North-South and East-West right here. So drive time, you can reach 70% of the US in a days drive or less. Three mountain ranges…Smokies, Cherokee and Cumberland. Lakes and Rivers all around. From the Tennessee River, you can reach 21 states and the Gulf of Mexico. Property Taxes are low. Cost of living is low. Tennessee is known as the “half-back state” because so many are relocating from up north (cost of living and harsh weather) and going all the way South (FL.) Cost of living again…and yep, bad weather..again.Therefore, they relocate back to Tennessee, specificly East Tennessee (Loudon County has the second highest growth rate in TN at 62%. We have four beautiful seasons and homes are appraising high. Check out Loudon County, TN. or come visit. Its a breat place to call home and just find mini vacations year round!!!
… Ga-ry In-di-ana, Gary In-di-ana, Gary Indiaaaaaana!
Some of you people need to put down the crack pipe. Seriously. The Grand Canyon? The Kenai Peninsula? Yes, my home is free, but I have no job and my heating bill is through the 3 story roof.
Hey HGTV, instead of putting a house in the boonies where someone has to drive forever and a day to get anywhere, how about a downtown condo or a teardown/rebuild in a first ring suburb that has nice views of downtown or a lake or something?
How about somewhere in Ruidoso, New Mexico or South Padre Island, Texas.
I think somewhere near Branson, Missouri. The scenery is beautiful, wonderful lakes, gambling, & very nice people.
Wow, so many choices. but I think it should be in Either Glendo, WY or Cheyene, WY thats where I live! Tyler
Lake Orion, MI
I am hoping the Northwest/Pacific Northwest. Idaho/Oregon/Washington would be nice!
A beaautiful setting would be the mountains of New Mexico – near Taos
Maybe something a little different…a space in Manhattan, maybe? Overlooking Central Park!?!
For some of us, our idea of heavenly wildlife is New York City!
How about looking out those one or two windows and seeing a beautiful red sunset over the azure blue water. The sun will have that glow of fire, and you’ll almost be able to hear it sizzle as it sinks below the horizon. Perhaps the Keys in Florida or Sanibel Island will prevail! A waterfront escape, with dock and boat. Hand me a fishing pole and I’d be in HEAVEN!
There is no place more beautiful than the wooded hills that run along the Allegheny River in Pennsylvania. I would love for the next Dream Home to be perched among the beech and pine trees there so that the rest of America can see what I’m always going on and on about!
The next dream home should be in the great state of Idah. Specifically Donnelly. Home of Tamarack Resort, the first all-season resort to open in the U.S. in more than two decades, has received national attention for its world-class mountain for skiing, hiking and mountain biking; Osprey Meadows, signature golf course; and beautiful Lake Cascade, suitable for swimming, sailing, fishing, sea kayaking, and boating. Something for everyone all year around.
The next home should be in Hawaii. There you will be able to see the most beautiful and breath taking views you only dream of.
How about Nevada!! We live in the desert. A perfect place for a straw bale home. How great for Ed Begley to build a completly green home here. I have always wanted to build one, but don’t have the financial resources. How great would it be to win one.
My granddaughter and I have had great fun “dreaming of our new home in Colorado”.
Next home should be a “green home”. It would be a great example for energy conservation. Maybe you could get the tax advantages as well! You could incorporate wind, water and sun energy. Show us how a “green home” could save us money and possible sell energy back to the utility companies!
Hawaii!
To me – a room with a view is colorful and warm, inside and out. I hope the next dream home will have more color. I know the trend now is earth tones, but growing up in the 70’s my home is like a candy store. Bright colors in the house and outside would a beautiful contrast. Southern California, or the Gulf coast all have amazing views on all sides.
What about in the beautiful open country of Montana, or Lake country, like Minnesota? I think something with a lake view would be great–especially if the living room overlooked a 180 degree view of peaceful tranquility. Build the dream house on an acre or 5, and I’m there!
From my prospective I think the next dream home will be in Missouri, “Ozark country” It is an amazing place to retire, It is also diffently across my street since I live in Kansas.
I think Missouri is a beautiful state. Would like to see the next dream house built in the Ozarks.
I think it will be on the west side of the Rockies looking up.
I don’t care nearly as much where your next HGTV home is located as I do, how much it costs to live there. If a winner must sell the house so they won’t have yearly property taxes to pay and also yearly development fees to pay, then what good does it do to win the house, if it is too expensive to live there?
How about Eastern Shore of Va on the Chesapeake Bay side? Lots of beautiful under develop properties on the creeks leading to the bay.
I would love to see the next dream home here in the beautiful state of Virginia. We have beautiful weather with all 4 seasons and it extends from the mountains to the seashore. We have lovely lakes, the ocean, rivers and anything that you would want…besides Virginia is for Lovers..where else to put the 2008 Dream Home!
Well, I believe there is no place as beautiful as the Smokey Mountains. That is a beautiful place for a Dream Home. Mountains, Deer, bears and birds. Fishing, swimming, boating and shopping only a few miles away. It is all there.
For the next HGTV Dream Home, you are definitely invited to Sweet Home Alabama with it’s beautiful waterways and friendly people.
Hello! Puerto Rico! Beautiful beaches, sun, beautiful island small but giant in heart. Come, I invite you to explore my island you will enjoy!
Near me–in the beautiful Ozarks,
near the junction of Hwy. U and Hwy. HH
near GPS Coordinates
Longitude: -91.95065
Latitude: 37.0939
Then, when you and the Lord bless me with winning it, I wouldn’t have very far to move!!!
I can’t image another home more beautiful than the ones already done by your gifted crew, but I also know they will pick a great spot for the new one coming.
you should concider a place close to the grand cannon. what a view that would be breath taking as in take your breath away. the sunsets and sunrise in Az are the most spectacular I have ever seen.
I think from your comment that it will be in a far off land. I’m guessing it could be China or Europe ,Japan maybe even Hawaii.I’m guessing it will be in another country. I wish the winner the very best of luck and happiness in their new home. Thanks to all the people who made this possible for such an awsome home to be given away.
I think Vermont, with a mountain view, the state is gorgeous!!!!
Well, if I can pick an area that is in the U.S. I would have to suggest strongly a beautiful area such as South Lake Tahoe. I have been to a lot of places around the world. There is something about South Lake Tahoe that is remarkably breath taking. I live in Ohio and due enjoy nature. South Lake Tahoe is like a personal Shangri-La.
The next dream home should be on the coast of Oregon at Cannon beach. It is flat and beautiful. You can see for miles. Haystack rock rises up just like a haystack on the beach.
Ava February 13, 2007
How about in India ? It’s a great country with fantastic climate and what more than own a boat home on the back waters of Kerela !
I think East Hampton, CT by ou beautiful lake.
New Mexico! That would be the ideal place for the next dream home. It’s a magical place to live.
I believe a beautiful home in the town of East Hampton, Connecticut by our beautiful Lake.
my husband and i were long-haul truck drivers for a while and went to many states. there are many beautiful places in the usa. but the place that impressed me the most was new mexico. more specifactly, northern new mexico. albuquerque, santa fe or taos. great weather, low humidity, skiing, hiking, great food and a rich native american and spanish culture. great place for the next hgtv home.
I’m thinking it’s time for a midwest summer home. It’s either that or Hawaii. A Win, win situation. Actually, they are all win, wins!!
I think the next HGTV DREAM HOME could be featured in Summersville WV around the beautiful Lake area with plenty of fishing .camping. water skiing. jetskiing .swimming. and lots of other things to due to have a great time and lots of fun
Posted by Juanita-2/13/2007 11;30 PM
I belive Bigfork Mt./
would be pretty
you could see the flat head lake from your fire place and pretend to see the big sea fish
Go sking in winter boat in summer .
Great place for lots of fun.
great little town for quite in Winter time too.
i think the 2008 dream home should be in a little town in ohio. My home town portsmouth, its a nice little town close to shawnee forest, over looking the ohio river,
Every location you have chosen so far has been a great one,so I trust 2008 will be too. My own choice would be Branson, Missouri. Not only are there many amenities, but selfishly I want to be near children and grandchildren.
Key West, Florida! Can there be a better place?
North Georgia, Blairsville, Hiawassi area is awesome, maybe Lake Placid NY,not Oswego, with 12ft of snow, lol. Wilmington, NC is beautiful, I just can’t decide, but where ever it is built, it will be fantastic as all the HGTV Dream Homes have been in the past, just hope one will be mine!
I WOULD LIKE TO SEE A DREAM HOME LOCATED IN AUSTIN, TEXAS THIS IS A VERY NICE PLACE WITH A LOT OF FRIENDLY PEOPLE AND THE LAND IS JUST BEAUTIFUL. PLEASE CONSIDER. POSTED BY PATRICIA
I think Squamish, BC Canada would be a good place for a dream home. This is the location where the sitcom Men In Trees is filmed. I did some research on-line & the area is awesome!
A niece log home on the Smokies
WE ARE COTTON AND PEANUT FARMERS IN FAR WEST TEXAS – OUR SCENERY IS OF A DIFFERENT NATURE AND THE SUNSETS ARE THE BEST IN THE WEST – OUR DREAM HOME GUESS WOULD BE NOT WHERE WE ARE – BECAUSE NOT MANY PEOPLE ARE TOUGHT ENOUGH TO ENDURE THE WEST TEXAS WINDS AND THE DRAUGHTS AND THE TORNADOES AND THE WEATHER EXTREMES SO —- PERHAPS SOMEWHERE THAT IS MILDER IN WEATHER EXTREMS – LIKE KENTUCKY OR ACROSS THE RIVER IN INDIANA – WHERE THERE IS LUSH FIELDS AND PLENTY OF WATER – WHEREVER IT IS I KNOW IT WILL BE GORGEOUS
I’d love for the different perspective to be an non-nature view. Not everyone is that into nature. How wonderful would it be if they did a beautiful Brownstone with a stoop in New York City. A view of a charming nieghborhood and 24 hour takeout delivery. That’s my dream home.
I have read all the comments. All suggested areas sound beautiful and it would be hard to pick which one is the best. Every year each HGTV home has been beautiful and unique and I am sure any of us wouldn’t have minded winning any of them. I live in Colorado and it has been exciting for the home to be in our state. I really don’t have a preference, I just love the anticipation of where and what will it look like. Of course I hope to win like so many. Thanks HGTV it is fun
I’d build a dream home in the San Juan Islands in Washington or on Lake Couer d’Alene, Idaho.
I think it should be Hawaii or Louisianna
Yes, the Rocky Mountains are exquisite…..How about the Wind River Country on the High Plains, in Wyoming….Rivers, Lakes, Mountains, Deserts, This truly is God’s Country…and Four Seasons TOO!!! We have it all…
Northern California, near Napa Valley
Stay in the USA is all I can say.Be American!!!
I think that Dream Home 2008 should be in one of two locations. My first choice is in TN at “Lookout Mountain” or in Michigan, perhaps near Mackinac. Either location would be wonderful!!
I think it should be Hawaii. However, the focus is on New Orleans and the rebuilding efforts.
A house in Phoenix, Az would be nice.
I think a Dream Home in the Sierra Nevada would be neat. It’s georgous there, only short distance from Sacramento and also a short distance to Reno.
This is so fun! I think HGTV, to which I am addicted, has chosen some beautiful spots for the wonderful homes they have created. So….I think our best bet is to let the staff again decide, but Washington State is really beautiful.
Thanks for the opportunity…
I think the high desert with tall Pines would be similar but very different. Pinetop-Lakeside or Show Low, Arizona. So many stars the night looks like a giant navy quilt with sparkles.
I agree with Teri Jackson,Arkansas border near MS. RIVER OR HISTORIC NATCHEZ, MS.
A dream home in the Knoxville or Chattanooga Tennessee area would be great.
Just to own a home,a place to call home for my wife and children. The tears in my eyes of owning our own home at 43 years old would be a view worth a thousand words. Brian H.
I THINK ANY PLACE THEY PICK WILL BE A WONDERFUL PLACE AS LONG AS ITS IN THE UNITED STATES BUT HOWEVER I WOULD LIKE TO SEE IT BE TENNESSEE THAT IS GODS COUNTRY IF YOU’VE NEVER BEEN YOU NEED TO GO IT’S AN EXCELENT PLACE TO VACATION IF YOU CAN’T LIVE THERE.
I have had the opportunity to read many of the comments posted regarding the possible locations for the 2008 HGTV Dream Home.
The HGTV Dream Homes are lovely and I understand that the previous six owners did not keep the homes – they sold them.
The word “dream home” elicits many thoughts in my mind – first and foremost are thoughts of many people along the Gulf Coast that lost their homes in recent hurricanes.
My suggestion for the 2008 HGTV Dream Home Team would be to built not just one home, but several “dream homes” for those that are truly in need.
Every place would be a DREAM HOME to me. There is so many GREAT & WONDERFUL places to build. But for my DREAM HOME, I do LOVE the four seasons. But MY DREAM LOCATION would have water & wooded area aswell. That location is hard to find. Find that HGTV DREAM HOME BUILDERS…. Plus with the TOP ENERGY EFFICIENT MATERIALS. “WOW” that would be the BEST DREAM HOME EVER BUILT.
Your have done homes on the east coast ,west coast, down south, how about Washington state, Montana, Dakotas, ect- SOMETHING WAY OUT IN THE WILDERNESS, OR NORTHERN LA, NEAR ARKANSAS, COTTON VALLEY, COUTRY YET NEAR CITY-SHREVESPORT,LA. SOMEWHERE EXCITING YET COUNTRY!!!!
HAVE to completely agree with the folks that are suggesting eastern/southeastern Tennessee in the Smokey Mountains, or maybe northeast Georgia. But east Tennessee would be best. I have been through there so many times in my life and every time there is something else that can just take your breath away. And right outside Chattanooga would be wonderful, since it is a great place to live. At least, someplace not so cold would be nice. If not in Tennessee or Georgia, then maybe Hawaii. Those would be my dream locations, definitely.
I believe an ideal place would be somewhere in the San Juan Islands in WA state, now that is God’s country there!!!
My dream home would be on beautiful Flathead Lake, in Montana. The location couldn’t be better.
Southern Indiana would be a dream come true!!!
I love all the comments about Washington state! I live across the river from Portland Oregon in Vancouver Washington. The rivers and mountain views would make a Fabulous backdrop for an HGTV dream home. Hope one is coming to our neck of the woods!
I think Pigeon Forge, TN would be awesome! We vacation there and I would move there in a heartbeat!!
i thINK THE NEW HOME FOR 2008 SHOULD BE WHERE IT IS NEEDED THE MOST IN NEW ORLEANS LA. SO MANY PEOPLES LOST EVERYTHING LIKE MY SELF IT COULD MAKE A BIG DIFFERANT IN SOMEONE LIFE.
Another Texas home could be in our great Hill Country area, around Austin! Beautiful!! I live near Tyler, in East Texas, where the 2005 house is built and it is something else! Austin has lakes, mountains, four seasons, and everything you could want for a wonderful place to live! Tks HGTV for the opportunity to enter your contest! Good luck to all, but I sure need this Colorado home!!
Montana!
My vote is for the west coast. Preferably something on Calif’s “central coast” like San Simeon or the hills overlooking San Luis Obispo.
How about Winter Park, FL? Sunny & warm, definitely a different perspective than Winter Park, CO. Hard to pinpoint an ideal view as all of God’s creation never ceases to amaze me with its beauty, be it snow-covered mountains, sunny beaches with rolling waves and palm trees, seemingly neverending fields of wildflowers, or my own backyard . . . God’s presence is all around, just open your eyes!!
Utah….I hear it is beautiful there…Arizonia would be nice too!!!!Lake Meade…Been a tough year for my 3 kids and I…..My oldest has been in the hospital 11 months just got transferred closer to home(she was 2 hours away) and the Middle daughter has been in 5 months now…thank God my Son (the kidney transplant) is doing ok….The Lord Blessed me with three Great Kids , kind and thoughtful of others….makes me not complain so much…this place..2007 dream home would be a great place for us to be together …God Bless..Ellie P
A dream home in the Redwood forest of northern California would be great, or along the southern Oregon coast.
Fripp Island, SC!
Every year I enter the sweepstakes. Every year I see a georgeous house with beautiful surroundings and furnishings. I love the ocean, and would love to see some lucky person win a beautiful dream home on the ocean-possibly me?
I grew up on the coast of Texas, but I would love to retire in the Hill Country. There are all of the seasons up there, it is beautiful,a lot of my friends love it too, and have homes there, and you haven’t looked at it yet, and you should, it is wonderful
Louisiana, the land of meandering bayous,semi- tropical climate, moss draped oaks, hospitality unlike any other place…….an area battered, but not beaten by an ugly lady, Katrina, peopled by those determined to live in this land of abundance. A home surrounded by a wicker furnished wrap-around porch for lazy summer days seating, a huge sunroom with overhead fans gently moving a breeze, an outdoor kitchen for summer fish fries, bar- b-cues and kids chasing fireflies on summer evenings. On cooler days, friends gathering around a long table in front of a fireplace in the copper-clad kitchen savoring bowls of hot seafood gumbo and homemade potato salad while others are enjoying the entertainment center at the end of a spacious open connecting room. Large bedrooms with space for reading and having a demitasse of French coffee with beignets upon awakening in the morning. An invigorating view of the wildlife and palmetto as a pelican takes to the heavens in his search for breakfast……..I recommend that Lafayette, Louisiana be considered as the site for a modified plantation style home complete with iron grillwork. A bit of heaven here in the deep south!!!! Let’s not forget a guest house…..who can resist a “short” visit to this place? Here, family is very important! And at the drop of a hat, carloads of aunts, uncles, and cousins of all ages come to hunt, fish and go crabbing. All share in the pralines, fig pies and pork cracklings from the “old brick” outdoor kitchen. Now this is a real home! Did I mention the multitude of friends?????????? virginia
I would love to have my dream home in the state of Maine. It is beautiful, quiet, clean and centered around the Family Life. Who could ask for more? It has four beautiful seasons and allows for four different ways of life without going to other places to experience what happens naturally in Maine. Nothing could be better!!!!
There are some really great ideas and some not so great ideas for a location. I’ve lived all over the U.S….nothing beats the southern California weather or the beauty of Tahoe. California has my vote–a energy efficient, self-sufficient log home in mountains would be ideal.
I WOULD LIKE TO SEE A DREAM HOUSE BUILT ON THE COAST OF NORTHERN CALIFORNIA. LIKE AROUND FORT BRAGG. WHAT A SPECIAL PLACE…………
Considering that Hawaii and Puerto Rico are territories of USA, why not one of those countries to do the next Dream Home? But your challenge will be to built one dream home hurricane proof (at least for Puerto Rico). It would be diferent, challenging and tropical…Sounds great!
Angel
WELL, IF I DO NOT WIN 2007 DREAM HOME…OUTSIDE OF CHARLESTON SOUTH CAROLINA ON THE BEACH BUT I BELIEVE IT WILL BE IN California.
How about Northern Idaho? In the mountains by the lakes. Or it could be in my home town – Las Vegas – close to Lake Mead, overlooking a golf course or Red Rock area.
I would like to see Utah be a contender. We have the four seasons to utilize. We hosted the Winter Olympics not too long ago. We offer winter skiing within 20 minutes of downtown, rock climbing, all water crafts and the heat of southern Utah, St. George, within 5 hours driving time.
Utah has so much to offer! Come visit us, you won’t be sorry!
I would say if it is far away from Colorado, it could be Hawaii, however, building a house here that looks like the one in Colorado would cost well over $4 Million dollars and there isn’t much land left to build on out here except on the Big Island where the island is still developing. Kauai is expensive, no land left on Oahu, Molokai is nice as is Lanai and Maui.
I think the 2008 Dream Home will be on the West Coast at the Pacific Ocean. Possibly California. I think it will be in Cayucos California
Since all of the Dream Homes have had great views of nature, perhaps the next Dream Home will have a city view. Instead of ski slopes and mountains, the house may be up in the hills overlooking Los Angeles or maybe in the mountains above Phoenix. So my guess is for an urban location with a fantastic city view!
I think that a dream home should be just that. A beautiful house built where the winner of the contest wants their dream home. Maybe even to their specifications. It may not be a multi-million, high tax, home. Just a nice comfortable home where they want to live.
TEXAS. HGTV DREAM HOME IS BIG,AND SO IS TEXAS. WHAT A PERFECT PAIR!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The next HGTV Dream home is going to be in Alaska.
I grew up in and live in Colorado and have visited Winter Park many times. It is truly a locals’ favorite and not a pretentious tourist town. And as much as I love the beauty of the Rocky Mountains, a break from the cold is always nice. I’d love to see a dream home in the Bahamas with a short walk to the beach. Especially right now, in the middle of winter.
In these chaotic times, it would be so wonderful to for HGTV to build an extremely energy efficient home, thus showing the ability to be an educated role model for all those who enter to win a home. This wonderful home should be built in a hillside with a southern exposure so it can take full advantage of passive solar gain. It would be so great to see HGTV using this home to educate people how to build a sturdy home that heats using the least amount of fossil fuel as possible. It would also be very cool to have mechanical steel coverings that could come down over all those south facing windows in case of a tornado or hurricane. The home could include a safe room in the back of the home that would protect the occupants during such challenging weather events. Landscaping should include a garden area to grow vegetables with all the proper equipment to do so. Fruit trees and bushes should be abundant on the property. The vehicle given with the home should also be a hybrid. It would be so uplifting to see HGTV helping us all see the good benefits of being more self sufficient in our daily lives by building a home that exemplifies such independence.
I think a gorgeous place for the 2008 HGTV home would be somewhere on the Maine coast. It’s beautiful, rocky, and untamed coastline has been a classic vacation spot. It’s beautiful sunrises and sunsets over the water, lots of local events, and easy drives to many mountains, beautiful little towns filled with antique shops and a healthy enviornment for families would make the coastline a perfect choice for the most relaxing living. And let’s not forget those wonderful Maine lobster feasts!
Can you say, “California?” You can’t beat San Diego county, especially the Del Mar area, for the views and the climate!
Snohomish, WA
Any dream home would of course be a dream, but how about a home in the last frontier. An ALASKAN ocean home, with fabulous views would be spectacular in our rough and beautiful home!
The perfect location for the 2008 HGTV Dream
Home is the wine country of North Carolina. You didn’t know there is a wine country in NC? Well, there is! It is located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains and is a gooorgeous place to build anybody’s dream house. Come check it out HGTV and all the rest of you in America! It is one of the best kept secrets in the Southeast. Travel I77 and come to Elkin,NC and just ask anybody, they will tell you how to get to dozens of wineries and vineyards in the area.
I have two places…in the Ozark of Arkansas or Hawaii
I THINK THE NEXT DREAM HOME SHOULD BE AT THE EDGE OF BANKHEAD NATIONAL FOREST, IN ALABAMA. THAT WAY YOUR JUST A STEP AWAY FROM NATURE AT ITS BEST. WHERE GOD INTENDED.
I think a home in South Dakota, around the Black Hills would be nice. It is such a beautiful area to live in.
BRING THE 2008 DREAM HOME TO THE JERSEY SHORE,MARRIED 30 YEARS,NO HONEY MOON NO VACATIONS,IT WILL BE NICE TO WIN THIS YEAR,IF NOT, MAYBE THEN,GOD WILLING,THANK YOU
Having read a lot of the comments Everywhere sounds so beautiful. Our country is Beautiful.
We have traveled around to many different places. We do enjoy the wine country in Northern Calif. It is very beautiful there. It is green and lots of trees and the grape vineyards are a site to see. I would love to win one of the homes it would be big enough for all of our family to enjoy.
New Orleans? Better than ever…
I THINK THE NEXT DREAM HOME SHOULD BE IN ARKANSAS,IN BEAUTIFUL FAYETTEVILLE OR HOT SPRINGS, AND I THINK THE NEXT DREAM HOME SHOULD BE IN NEW ORLEANS THAT WOULD BE BEAUTIFUL SINCE THEY HAVE BEEN THROUGH SO MUCH, THIS WOULD BRING SO MUCH LIGHT BACK TO NEW ORLEANS OR EVEN IN LITTLE ROCK ARKANSAS, THEY ARE REALLY BUILDING AND MAKING LITTLE ROCK BEAUTIFUL, DO A DREAM CONDO NEAR THE ARKANSAS RIVER WITH A GREAT VIEW, WITH PRIVATE PARKING AND ABOUT 3000 FEET OF LIVING SPACE. KIMBERLY LITTLE ROCK
HGTV has done 12 magnificent homes in our great Nation. My prefect view would be any where that I could look out with my family and just be in awe of its beauty. Every state is beautiful in its own way and everyone is in favor of their own state. My best guess where HGTV would be building their next house would be, Hawaii.
Based on the hint… my initial thought was a “different perspective” would be the opposite of a mountain view which would be looking down into a valley… and the grandest would be the Grand Canyon… is that possible? My second thought was “view like DH07″ would be a different type of mountain range… perhaps like those in the Southwest… dry and arid, but still fantastic. And my third thought was DH07 is looking at the Western Continental Divide, so perhaps DH08 will be looking at the Eastern Continental Divide. Both are fantastic. I saw both once within the same month… driving along, up, and over. In any case, HGTV will build a beautiful dream home again and, for me, “winning” will mean I can make my dream home possible. Good luck to all of you.
Of course everyone thinks the next Dream Home should either be in the beautiful mountains or near the beautiful seasides of our beautiful country, but no one has mentioned the beautiful desert. Of course everyone has mentioned that the home should be some place near where they live and I, too, would love for the Dream Home to be in Pahrump, Nevada where my husband and I recently moved to get out of the snow. Although Pahrump is high desert it is surrounded by beautiful mountains that do get snow in the winter months. Don’t forget the beautiful desert flowers in the Spring, oh what a beautiful sight! There is a neighborhood for everyone of any means here in Pahrump. Why not give it a look!
How about an HGTV Dream Home in the desert? That might give you something different to work towards. And there are some very beautiful deserts in the USA.
I think it will be in Chatanooga, TN. Perfect spot close to the Smoky Mountains and deer hunting all season long. What could be better. Also climate is perfect mostly in the year. I will ove to vacate and melt away in a quiet zone.
I’d like to see your next home built up on Moosehead Lake in Maine. To me it’s one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been to.
I THINK THE NEXT DREAM HOME SHOULD BE IN OKLAHOMA, IT IS THE CENTER OF THE UNITED STATES, THERE ARE WONDERFUL SUMMERS AND BEAUTIFUL WINTERS, DRAMATIC FALL SEASONS, THE 2008 HOME WOULD JUST FIT PERFECTLY. HOWEVER, WHERE EVER YOU PUT THE HOME WILL BE STUNNING JUST LIKE THE DESIGNERS, BUILDERS, DECORATORS, ETC.
I think the next Dream Home should be here in beautiful North Georgia, near the small, warm town of Dahlonega. Gorgeous any time of the year!
I am certain it is either in Seattle on a mountain or hill top with spectacular City/space needle views, and lake views and mountain views or it is in Northern California with ocean views, and and a peak at mt. Shasta and other mts.. Either way the home will need a nice telescope.
Hey nobody ever includes alaska in anything! Palmer Alaska would be a perfect dream home in a perfect place. The mountains are provided!
Tucson, AZ has it all. A solar home built in the foothills of the Catalina Mts or Rincon Mts would be ideal. Count me in for loving Tucson.
Wow! It sure gives your mind a lot to imagine doesn’t it? Good Luck to everyone…the Winter Park home is fantastic.
I would like to see a nice home built in a small community in Missouri or Arkansas
But I would love to live in a dream home on the ocean in Maine!!
2008 Dream House will be in Texas
Missouri is the “Show Me State” and has a lot to offer
Being born and raised in Alaska, I think AK would be a perfect state for the next dream home. Maybe in Anchorage, Eagle River, Kodiak, Wasilla, Palmer….A fishing town would be great especially w/ a ocean or harbor view!
A dream home in Jeffersonville, Vermont would be beautiful in all seasons, especially the Fall. Waterfalls spring from the rocks and it looks like a postcard. I wish I lived there. Wilma from Quantico, MD.
I think Port Townsend Washington would be a wonderful choice. It is a beautiful town with a lot going for it. The Victorian festival every spring shows off all the beautiful older homes and a gorgeous new home would be great there too. The area is full of natural beauty too from the Strait Juan de Fuca to Olympic National Park to the Lavender Fields in Sequim. Not to mention it is not too far away from one of the great cities of our nation Seattle! Port Townsend has the perfect blend of nature, small town charm and a nearby big city!
I think it would be wonderful to have it in Virginia with Chesapeake Bay as a backyard. I went there 2 years in a row w/ my husband and son for a small family reunion. I stopped going because my cousin passed away and had to sell his house. We planned to meet every year for as long as he lived but unfortunately that didn’t work out. I think it would be a good place. I got up every morning before sun came up because I do not have water as backyard so I grabbed the opportunity to enjoy the view. It is breathtaking.
How about Santa Fe, New Mexico area? You could do a grand adobe home on some beautiful piece of land with a sunset to watch every night. It’s also a fun area with restaurants, skiing, shops, sites.
i would like next years dream home to be on a nice beach front in miami where me and my family will enjoy are selfs and wouldnt worry about anything we struggly rite now to make ends meet i would be so happy if i could win next years dream home for my family and i
An interesting view would be an ocean view. I’m guessing Maine!
A new perspective means to me an energy self suffient home near the coast in California on the central coast or Corpus Christie Texas where a new home of a green nature would stand as an example to those along the gulf coast who need to rebuild after the hurricane devastation, Perhaps you could showcase elegant economy in construction techniques and recovery skills implementing what is available aftr a catastrophe of monumental destruction. We lost our home in the 89 earthquake and after we rebuilt using our entire savings and everything we both could earn and our own labor for economy sake, we could not afford to live there. Our age and health forced us to downsize to an older mobile home. We found our way through suddenly inflated prices for building materials, planning commissions overwhelmed, community resources stressed beyond resilience and our own desire to recover regardless of the challenges. In the end – we had a beautiful home but couldn’t stay there. Perhaps you could use the HGTV home as a demonstrator that would give new hope and encouragement to all of us who dream of overcoming the obstacles that life and nature throw all of us.
I would pick Northwest Arkansas or Hot Springs area for the next dream home. It is a beautiful state. Maggie, Louisiana
My suggestion would be Higgins Lake, MI. It’s an up north pristine area. Higgins Lake is the 6th most beautiful Lake in the world…….yes, you read it right…..WORLD!!! Low traffic, beautiful country.
New England would love to HGTV in the neighborhood. Vermont…God’s Country, Maine…Spectacular, Mass has its history. New Hampshire and Connecticut Tucked in between these states would be beautiful to host a Dream Home.
Definitely Sedona, Arizona…one of the most beautiful places to live in the Country…and just a short hop to the Grand Canyon…THE Natural Wonder of the World I can’t get enough of.
KENTUCKY, KENTUCKY, KENTUCKY!
We have the most beautiful state! It really should be here.
Diane
With so many unfortunate people in this country struggling to be homeowners, why not a new approach. 5-10 homes in an area that is working hard on renewing their downtown. The houses can be built using green technology and be a true model for the the area chosen as well as the U.S.A. to move forward in sustainable and ecologically friendly building and growth. Riverhead Long Island is one of those places that fit this description. It is affordable AND close to the North and South Shores. Close to the Vineyards and the Hamptons.
I live in beautiful Hiawassee, Ga. where we have beautiful mountains and lakes. It would be the perfect place for your new home.
On the water in Little Compton, Rhode Island-Simply paradise
Of all the beautiful places in our wonderful country, I think Idaho would be a perfect choice for the next Dream House. We have any season one could want, and great fishing and hunting, with unlimited boating areas, complete with our own seaport (it’s a fact!) plus nearly any gemstone you could desire, all occurring naturally in our mountains and streams. Have you ever panned for gold? Bring your next beautiful home to Idaho!
I currently reside in MD, but grew up in PA on a farm. PA has beautiful country for an HGTV Dream Home, converting an old barn would be beautiful with the original wooden beams. The current home in CO would fit right in, in PA.
It seems like many of the HGTV dream homes have been in the south or southwest. (Colorado, North Carolina, Texas…). As a new resident of Maine, I can tell you that there are few places are beautiful as the Maine coast – especially downeast of Ellsworth, where we live. On the other hand, as a former resident of California, the Mendocino coast has a similar (and somewhat warmer but foggier) appeal.
If you’ve really done your homework, you’d know that just about anywhere in Vermont would be a beautiful place to build the next dream home. It would be difficult to pick an actual town because there are lots of scenic views here. Ever been to Smuggler’s Notch? How about Lake Elmore or Stowe? There are a lot of nice little lakes where you could build a nice home overlooking any of these lakes. If not 2008, hopefully some year in the near future.
West Virginia, Tennessee or Pennsylvania, in the mountains. Would love to retire some place where the view is a lake with mountains as a background. After working in Washington, DC that would be like heaven for my retirement.
I have been all over this country, and honestly anywhere HGTV builds would be a dream. But don’t underestimate the bluegrass of Kentucky! The horse farms are amazing in this state!
I’ve seen comments about Charleston, SC, Arizona…Sedon or Paradise Valley are wonderful! Lake Norman, GA would be fantastic! There are so many places I haven’t seen, but some that I have are truly amazing! I’m sure it will be in a great location and there is no reason to repeat a location. There’s too much beauty in our country!
The mountains of Northern Arkansas would be beautiful. When I drive through the mountains I can imagine myself sitting on a backporch drinking a cup of coffee and gazing at the beautiful mountains that God created.
I think maybe in Arkansas would be nice. More
so either in the Northern Part because of the wooded area or around Hot Springs. It is a nice
state.
I think the next dream home will be in texas or new york, or maybe denver.
Anywhere on the coast of Maine.I would buy my own lobster boat on have the catch of the day 7 days a week! Happy Valentines Day
Why not in the Caribbean? Exactly in Puerto Rico, where the sun shines all year through, our beautifull beaches that got us the name of the Pearl in the Caribbean and above all our people.
Give it a try and you won’t regret it.
Belinda
Well I think you have avoided the Mid-West long enough. I think the next Dream Home should be in Northern Michigan, say Harbor Springs on the bluff overlooking the bay. That would be a BEAUTIFUL setting.
My Husband and I, each year, go to the Sierra’s . Our friends have a log home there. I’m Looking out the window, at Bear Valley. I feel at peace there. There’s always something to do, in every season. So ..I think the next 2008 home, will be in the Sierra Mountain Range. Even we have talked about a home there. That’s my guess. Northern Nevada, Sierra Mountains. C. Krauss
How about a house boat in the beautiful west! Portland, Seattle… these homes are unique and have amazing views!
A beautiful Victorian in
any victorian town would do. A home that blends in with the
rest of the neighborhood, that is the envy of
even the Painted Ladies. A home that looks old
fashioned, but using todays appliances, and
materials, and reproduction furnishings.
Bathrooms with clawfoot spa tubs, fishscale siding, a real
Gingerbread home you just want to eat!
Hi all at HGTV! You should definitely build next years Dream Home on the coast of Maine or near Seattle, Washington. Both are beautiful locations with a lot to offer!4
How about the Jersey Shore? We really do have some of the best beach’s in the country. Long Beach Island would be a perfect spot especailly Loveladies, it has been written about many times for it’s beauty and lifestyle. Come on HGTV it’s time to come to the east coast! Also size does not matter eco-friendly it the way to go.
Thanks,
Debra, New Jersey
The next Dream House 2008 – Indianapolis, Indiana of course. Home of the Super Bowl Champion Indianapolis Colts and also home of the Greatest Spectacle in Racing, the Indianapolis 500.
Hi.
I think a Dream House 2008 would be beautiful built in Vermont or Maine. Those states are just awesome in the fall.
We have posted once before but since then we have read MANY of the comments by others.
It is heartbreaking to say but a majority of people here wouldn’t be able to keep the house. They would have to sell it and use the procedes to pay off the taxes and other related expenses. What ever is left would, most likely cover the cost of building a home that they could afford close to their present residency, job, and family.
This is the case for us. We discussed this to great length and realized we would only be able to keep the home for a short time. We could pretend to be a wealthy couple for a while and then reality would creep in and we would have to start the process of selling the home.
We were raised in the midwest and were taught to live modestly, so our dream home would be in the midwest or maybe even Kentucky (my wife loves Kentucky). It would be on about 20 acres or more and would be a 3 bedroom log home with lots of light, a porch or wrap around deck, modest furnishings and a garden.
This is our idea of a dream home. Many say “if you are going to dream, dream big” but the reality is that in order to dream big, one has to be able to afford to do so.
There are those of us who have a dream home in mind and I can say for us, at least, it has never been a 2.5 million dollar home. To us any home (be it 50,000.00 dollars to 300,000.00) would be a dream.
With that being said, the HGTV DREAM HOME would be the way for many to achieve their OWN idea of a “DREAM HOME”.
I have seen many comments by people suggesting that HGTV build several dream homes with several winners and think this is a good idea.
The people who can afford to keep a 2.5 million dollar home can also afford to build it themselves so building several homes at the same cost of one huge home, would allow several people who couldn’t otherwise afford to build and keep a home, the chance to win one that they could afford to keep!
WITH THIS ONE CLUE IT COULD BE ANYWHERE BUT I WOULD LIKE TO SEE A HOUSE WITH AN OCEAN OR LAKE VIEW. THEN AGAIN A HOUSE IN THE TREE’S IS ALWAYS PRETTY COOL AND UNIQUE.
I’m guess somewhere in the Pacific Northwest. Central Oregon, around the Bend area would be awesome.
Minn. with all those lakes- and a house with NO steps would be nice.
A home designed for and built on Cape Cod, MA would be exquisite. Surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean, Cape Cod Bay, and within the National Seashore; Cape Cod offers fun and excitement for all individuals young and old.
Rock Creek Park in Washington, DC/Maryland- you could be tucked away in the woods and still near a city with lots of culture and historical activities.
The next Dream Home would be perfect along the shoreline of Lake George in New York or Lake Anna in Virginia. Overlooking the beautiful clear water of the lake, viewing wonderful sunsets and surrounded with the backdrop of the colorful mountains. Ahhh yes, I’m there and hopefully so will HGTV DreamHome of 2008.
Must be tropical. I’ve lived in the beautiful Northwest. A “Green Home Hawaii” would be wise. (especially if I get to live in it!)
THERE ARE THREE PLACES I WOULD LOVE TO SEE YOUR NEXT HOME, ONE IS PORTLAND, ME. ONE IN SAVANNAH, GA. AND THE LAST IN ST.AUGUSTINE, FL. I COULD LIVE ABOUT ANYWHERE, BUT THESE LOCATIONS HAVE ALWAYS ENTICED ME.
I entered this contest, because my daughter who is a single mom of two; ask me to for her. I have throughly enjoyed it. The pictures are great, the ideas wonderful.Have ever you ever been to the beautiful Sequachee Valley or North Ga? another favorite on the other hand is the S.C. area! Congrautlations to whom ever wins!!!!!!!!!!!
Annapolis, MD. Sailing capitol of the world. Plenty of architectural possibilities, beautiful views of the Chesapeake Bay. Close to the Nations Capitol. A nice open plan on the water, with a dock and a nice sailboat sitting at the dock !
It doesn’t get any better than that.
Saugatuck, Michigan! Only two hours out of Chicago, 45 minutes out of Grand Rapids. Singing sand dunes, Lake Michigan, great atmosphere. You can’t go wrong!
Designing a RV would be a great idea, then the winner could travel around the USA and see all this beautiful country has to offer. We are full time RVers and we have found many places one would want to live in.
Dear HGTV Dream Home execs — Is it time to find an old historic mansion somewhere in the US that is steeped in history and in dire need of severe restorations??? I would love to see a complete restoration of an historic home and its grounds; surely somewhere in this great nation there is a forgotten historical residence waiting for your expertise.
BOSTON, MASS OR NASHUA, NH OR ANY PLACE IN VERMONT WOULD BE GREAT.
Location for the next HGTV Home would be great in the coastal region of Maine, Florida, California, Washington or Hawaii. The beauty of this country can be highlighted through your homes: coastal, mountains, valleys, rivers. Having folks send photos of their special places to you for selection of HGTV homes would be great.
BOSTON, MASS OR NASHUA, NH OR ANY PLACE IN VERMONT WOULD BE GREAT.
Friendly, West Virginia…w/ Ohio River passing thru the breezeway………………
All choices that I’ve read sound great. Judging by
this recent home,I would say instead of a valley,
it might overlook a lake. I find the green home design would be great to live as well as good for enviroment. Ether way I’m sure the home will amazing. Tahoe,California would nice.
I believe and feel that a home in either Vermont or New Hampshire would exemplify New England’s beauty. The fall foliage as a back drop for your 2008 magnificent dream home would be a nature lovers dream.
I think the home should be built in Florida somewhere around Panama City Beach, It is lovely there year around!!
Marble Falls, Texas, Lake LBJ/Granite Shoals in Texas or any senic Texas Hill Country location.
What about Us? An HGTV Dreamhome would fit beautifully in Darlington, SC. It seems as if we’re always forgotten in SC. A beatiful home, cutomized by HGTV would add style, elegance, and something intersting to talk about in such a small town! And of course, it would make me and my husband extremely happy!
Michigan would be a wonderful spot for the home!! A beautiful state…
It would be good to explore hot water heat with the heat coming through the floor… we just built a home with that feature, and it’s wonderful!!!!
Park Ridge, New Jersey in beautiful Bergen County.
I’m from North Carolina and I’m proud of our beautiful state. We have such a variety of scenery. We have the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains, rolling hills of the Piedmont and the famous coastal areas.
Knowing how the HGTV team operates, they will select a wonderful location they will please the minds and bodies of all.
The 2008 HGVT Dream House, could be set in the beautiful Town of Sadona Arizona. Or even in Santa Fe New Mexico! Just think of the great home the desinger’s would come up with in a desert setting, and what bright bold beautiful colors both inside and out! But not sure anything can top the outstanding home in Winter Park Co.
Joesph in Cleburne Texas.
Adirondacks NY
A ideal city would be Bossier City, Louisiana. Ideal for couple, younger or older, especially senior citizens. Population of only 50,000. Bossier City offers everything which a metrapolitan city offers plus casinos. Average weather year round. Some rain, occasionally snow in winter, but hot in summer. Bossier City gets my vote.
Edward F. Nadau du Treil
A nice house on San Juan Island, WA would be perfect!
Puerto Rico??
A dream home in my home state of Pennsylvania would be a lovely idea. It is a beautiful state and full of wonderful sites and natural beauty.
I was born and raised in southwestern PA, home of F.L. Wright’s Falling Water home!
Definitely New Mexico. The area around Santa Fe is absolutely stunning!
The next dream home in the lovely countyside of central Massachusetts would be great. Just an hour from Boston and 15-20 minutes to major highways. Peaceful with room to spare.
I would like to see the next Dream Home in Costa Rica. A beach front with the tropical mountains in the back. I have heard such great things about Costa Rica.
I think it will be a picturesque place in Maine. Summer in Maine is beautiful. Winter is Cold and white, and Fall makes your mouth water when you see the gorgeous color of the trees!
A dream home could only be a dream if there was lots of room to ride my horse, so I’d hope there would be National Forest area close by, and sunrise over the ocean is perfect…other than that, as wonderful as those dream houses are, they could be anywhere and be a perfect home. Put that together, and it sounds like maybe the North Carolina shore!
A beautiful home tucked away in the rolling hills of Pannsylvania would be lovely. Wellsboro, PA has the victorian gas lights lineing the streets, old victorian homes…every one has got to visit Wellsboro at least once!
I haven’t seen a single vote for the most wonderful place to live in the great United States, Oklahoma. There are several beautiful lakes and mountainous areas in the state, surely one of them warrants a consideration.
Also, most of the homes are of such a spectacular nature, that the average working man can’t afford to keep them and their dream homes end up on the real estate market. I would suggest building a dream home that a man could afford to keep. Beautiful area plus affordability is of main concern in rural areas. I personally would love a spacious ranch or log cabin with modern contemporary styling in the southwest areas of Oklahoma. Perhaps in the Medicine Park area near the Wichita Mountain Wildlife Refuge. A stunning area to visit, even better to live there. Of course, Anadarko, my home town would be ideal also! The home of Indian City USA, the Indian Capitol of the Nation.
I would really like to see it somewhere in the mid-western states, around the great lakes.
Ok, here is my thought. A home located on the Oklahoma plans. You can have it 100% eco friendly with Solar, and personal wind mills to generate it own power, and a well for water. The home could be almost 100% off the grid, and land in Oklahoma is cheap so you could get maybe 20+ acres and have it like a Ranch!
But regardless of location, you know the home will be great just like all of the other HGTV Dream Homes. MY fingers are Crossed for the HGTV Dream Home in Winter Park as that is my Dream Home indeed!!! Good luck to you all.
Bill W, in Fort Worth Tx
build the 2008 dream home in delaware the first state.beautiful beaches, something for all seasons.
The only possible choices for the next several HGTV Dream Homes would be true dream homes. Not the wonderful expensive and more than beautiful Dream homes of the past several years. They have been Dream Homes of a different sort. The next generation of Dream Homes should be outside the box. 2008: Baghdad, Iraq. The setting would be a peaceful and quiet sunrise to sunset across the desert. People shopping in the busy market places. No fear, or apprehension on their faces. No sirens. No road blocks or check points. Just Baghdad the way it was meant to be. The only thing that will distract from this tranquil scene, will be the bright white markers of the brave men and women who helped make this possible. As our lucky winner will note as he or she lays a wreath at the tombstone of the unknown soldier, “Thank You”. Thats a Dream Home. After that, perhaps a Dream Home on the Moon.
A dream home at the New Jersey shore on the waterfront would be ideal. Enough with the mountains and snow. It’s Boating time.
I am thinking southwest. Like Utah, Arizona, or New Mexico.
If you want Mountains what about either Big sky Montana or The Green Mountains of Vermont !!!!
Please don’t do Stowe or a ski Resort! there is more to Vermont than Skiing…like fall foliage, Summer bike rides, Spring time sugaring.
My Dream home is in Vermont!!
Western Nebraska would be a nice place for a beautiful new dream home. Kathie in New Hampshire
I would recommend the next Dream Home be in the Great Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The UP is a great four season environment and has the best people anywhere.
Everyone has great ideas for locations, but I want to echo those folks that are urging you to build environmentally-friendly, self-sustaining home systems…it’s time we stopped thinking of these as “gimmicks” or luxuries. Also, I think it would be a grand gesture to build in New Orleans..a nice show of support in the wake of their difficulties.
I believe a home in Illinois would be great, because you would have the 4 seasons.
The areas around Pigeon Hole, Tennessee will give you beautiful mountain vistas and lake views, and its one of the fastest growing areas in the country. I could hang my hat there.
Four words – “Hill Country Austin, Texas”
Look into it, you’ll never go back home.
How about lake George N.Y.The summer and winter playland of the northeast.
All the homes are absolutely beautiful. I love the mountains and the ocean..Can’t wait to see the next one…I would love to see one eventually built in the Ozark Mountains.. either in Missouri or Arkansas…It is a local call to heaven from those mountains…
AAAAAHHHHHH…it is in the mountains of Taos,New Mexico. Put my name in the hat for that one!
Many underestimate the natural beauty found in NE Ohio and it may be a surprisingly beautiful place for the next HGTV Dream Home. A home with a view of America’s North Coast, beautiful National Parks, first rate cultural opportunities, outdoor activities from sailing, horseback riding, hiking and climbing through the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, and not to mention the many fantastic winter sporting opportunities –all available in Ohio, the Heart of It All!
Grand Lake in Oklahoma……..beautiful setting, wooded area, great fishing, get a place on the water overlooking one of the largest lakes in OK. And one of the places in the USA that is still afforadable to buy land & house & live. Check it out for yourself: http://www.grandlakevisitor.com/
Looking at the clue, I have narrowed it down to 4 states, Alaska, Montana, Wyoming or New Mexico. hopefully the next clue will help me narrow it further.
A dream home anywhere in Minnesota would be wonderful. We have beautiful lakes, gorgeous falls and all the winter sports anyone could ever want. Even if a dream home isn’t built here you should come for a visit. Becky Christians
A spectacular location for the next HGTV Home would be in the Land of 10,000 Lakes…beautiful northern Minnesota!
I WOULD LOVE TO GET THE VIEWS OF BOTH WORLDS; MOUNTAINS AND OCEAN COMBINED. HOW FORTUNATE TO SHARE SUCH BEAUTY OF SUCH A GRAT CREATOR. WE HAVE SO MUCH HERE AT HOME, LETS NOT GO OUT OF OUR OWN COUNTRY,WE HAVE SUCH A BEAUTIFUL SIGHTS TO SEE AND SHARE RIGHT HERE IN THE “GOOD OLE USA”.
It should be lakefront and has a boat dock and the greatest view of the lake year round!
I think Southern Kentucky Lake Cumberland area be a great location for the new HGTV home to be….
An ocean side or ocean front home would be spectacular. The northeast would be a nice twist. The vineyard is wonderful, but the land is expensive. The Jersey shore has some of the best beaches and Stone Harbour, NJ is a beautiful area on the shore. Lots of sailing and water sports could make it a fun spot. Good luck with your choice.
Being from NH i think a “different perspective”
might be something on the other side of the usa
New England perhaps? Althought i would prefer the beach!
I would love to see the 2008 Dream Home built in northern Minnesota. Warren, MN to be exact. You get to see the beauty of all 4 seasons.
I think the next Dream Home will be in Santa Fe, NM.
The Cumberland Plateau near Crossville, TN would be a choice location for the next home.
Ohhh come on New Jersey people!!(if any from NJ). From all the comments I’ve read so far, pleople have mention allmost all the States of this Great Nation, but not even one mention the beautiful coastline of NEW JERSEY.The 2008 HGTV DREAM HOME could be I don’t know??!! Maybe in Atlantic City coast line, close to the great casinos. Or maybe in Cape May, there is such a beautiful Atlantic ocean views, lots of activities to do with your family, year round seasons(the 4 stations) After all is “THE GARDEN STATE”. But I’m 110% sure that wherever the 2008 dream home will be located at, it will be OUTSTANDING!!!! I’ve been submitting my lucky winning chance since 2004 with that beautifull St. Marys, G.A. dream home…Good luck everyone in this 2007 dream home entries….
GOD BLESS EVERYONE…
We have been to Lake Amistad in Del Rio, Tx. many times. We think they should build a HGTV dream home along the Devils River at Lake Amistad. Beautiful country , water and not too many people yet.
CORONADO,CALIF. WHAT A GREAT PLACE.IT HAS A SMALL TOWN FEEL, WITH A VIEW OF THE CITY (SAN DIEGO) ON ONE SIDE, AND A VIEW OF THE PACIFIC ON THE OTHER.THERE ARE A LOT OF GREAT LITTLE BUNGALOWS THAT HAVE THE CHARM OF TURN OF THE CENTURY HOMES.YOU COULDN’T ASK FOR BETTER YEAR ROUND WEATHER.
Hi,i think it would be nice to have a dream home in the adirondacks. You can enjoy all four seasons
and it’s beautiful there.
I think that you should have the next HGTV Dream Home 2008 in Houston Texas. I just think that when you did Tyler, TX for the dream home, it turned out beautiful! Just think of my idea. Thanks for reading this!
I think it should be an AFFORDABLE home in Washington or Hawaii. SOmething very energy efficient. A waterfall would be fantastic! The beach would be nice too. Whatever it is, it should be a place with lots to do and breath-taking veiws!
Simsbury CT
GEORGIA, LAKE LANIER They have some beautiful spots around the lake. That would be a marvelous place for a dream home.
I agree with the North Georgia suggestion. Dahlonega is an old gold mining town and is a beautiful place not too far from Lake Lanier, the mountains, and even the city if you want. The Helen, Georgia area is beautiful too. I live a mile from Lake Lanier and love to head that direction when I can.
Lake Winnepesaukee, New Hampshire. Sailing and fishing in the summer, skiing in the winter.
I would love to see another dream home in the mountains of North Carolina. IT IS SUCH A BEAUTIFUL STATE. The outerbanks would be nice also.
Nancy Miller
Grove City, Ohio
Big Horn, Wyoming would be the perfect location for the 2008 Dream Home.
I have been in Arkansas and the mist in the mountains is breathtaking. Hot Springs is a meca of tourism and has an old time feeling there. There is a beautiful lake in Hot Springs that would be gorgeous framed in a HGTV Dream Home window.
I would love to see the new Dream Home in Savannah, Ga. so I could eat at The Lady and Sons every week, meet Paula Deen and live in this southern garden paradise with beautiful historic homes. Then I may share my North Carolina healthy sweet potato pie recipe made with Spendor and Smart Choice w/o the bad fats and sugars (and my chicken and cracker stew receipe I grew up eating in rural North Carolina).
Why not Virginia. America’s 400th anniversary is being celebrated there in 2007!
Even though I am from New Jersey, I have Colorado in my heart! I have yet to find a bad view there! Whether from a high rise in Denver,in the Mountains of Winter Park or the South part of the state with its beautiful rock formations, Colorado is beautiful no matter which way you look! I hope the next Dream Home is there as well!
My 2nd choice would be Lake Gaston, North Carolina. Why? The new country music park Randy Partin (& sister, Dolly) is building will change this rural area to a “hot spot” on the map. Lakeside living and only 30 min. from the new “Carolina Crossroads” country music park. Sitting back on the porch sipping tea on a hot summer day watching the boats and the sunset, then off to country music concerts performed by some of country music’s best performers.
I didn’t take the time to read all the comments, but it sure would be wonderful if a Dream Home would be be given away in Northern Michigan…
So many places are beautiful in every state for your beautiful homes. Your decisions must be extremely hard to make..
But Oh Michigan in the North is so beautiful….
The Laurel Mountains near Seven Springs Ski Resort in Pennsylvania is a wonderland of dreams. Spring with pink and white dogwoods blooming in the woods; summer with horseback riding, hiking, swimming; fall with the canvas of colors of nature creating a vision well into winter of skiing, snowboarding, snowmobiling, a white Christmas all make this the ideal, correction, perfect place for the 2008 Dream Home.
Why not beautiful Pennsylvania?
How about Texas, not Dallas or Fort Worth but central near Fort Hood Army Post. In Kempner. That would be nice. Our home is in Killeen but I would definately move, in a heart beat.
I think Barbara is making a terrific suggestion, Winter Park, CO to Winter Park, FL. Located on one of our beautiful lakes with year round livability. Maybe a roofing system with solar collectors for energy efficieny along with elegance and techno superiority…
Somewhere in the vastness of Nevada’s untapped beauty
In Georgia, South Carolina or North Carolina which would great!
I think that it will be somewhere with a city-scape for a view.
Have you ever thought of the midwest ( what a job that would be LOL)
How about a great Dream home that pays for itself? A solar home with water and heat generated by wind and solar power. A home without stairs for the veterans to have a chance, I can climb them every now and then but I couldn’t live in a house with too many. You could build the Dream home anywhere on a few more acres so we can bring Mom and Dad down from North Dakota. And Mom from Maryland. Somewhere warm. We are both prior service and can work in any area. But we are trying for a less populated area, outskirts of Austin, Texas would work. Or even Houston, but the surrounding areas. Think about it.
I thinnk that the 2008 house should set along the Red Rocks of Moab, Utah or Sedona, Arizona. The beauty there abounds all around.
The PERFECT place would be Middleburg, VA~~~located 30 miles from our Nation’s Capital!! This is beautiful horse country and has many historical sites. Imagine having dinner in the same restaurant where George Washington dined. On any given day you could hop in your car and be in the most powerful and interesting city in the WORLD, WASHINGTON,DC.where you’re surrounded by so much of our nation’s history. There’s the Kennedy Center for the cultural events and too many monuments and museums to mention. Have you ever experienced the cherry blossoms in the spring? This area has something to offer during every season. Walk the streets of Georgetown and Old Town Alexandria, visit Congress and then take the scenic drive back to a slower pace in Middleburg and maybe unwind at a local/exclusive spa! You’re 30 minutes from Dulles International Airport, a 3 hour drive from NYC, less than an hour from the beautiful mountians and only a couple of hours to the beach! This is where Jackie Kennedy had a home and housed her horses~~this is a town where the elite blend in with the every day people. A quaint historical township, Middleburg has much to offer even if it’s only to relax amongst rolling hills or stroll the downtown area looking for antiques.
A few years ago we bought some land up on Weiss Lake in Alabama (as an investment and to poss build on one day). Land is still for sale on those mountains, and you get almost 360 degree views of mountains and lake. Lake is hardly ever used, perfect!! Consider that, my friends!
Where ever you would build one of your lovely houses we could make it into our home. We have lived all over the world in the service to our country. We are now ready to settle down somewhere in the land of the free. Freedom is the key to making a house a home, not the address. 163686
Anywhere there is sailing… I’m landlocked and really appreciate water these days!
Anywhere U.S.A. would be great! We have so many beautiful states.
THE LAND OF 10,000 LAKES!!! NORTHERN MINNESOTA!!! It seems there are several that agree with me. : ) That’s where my dream home will be!
On the Barrier Islands, from the Carolina’s through Cape May, lie a thousand paradises just saying “Come out and play.” With shellfish all a plenty and sharks not 4 feet long my guess includes a Pony from Chincoteague to pass along. Cooling ocean in the Summer, pristine bays to pass the Fall, surprising Winters with more showers than a snow that’s six feet tall. Spring exhilarates the senses as again splendor returns, to the beaches never ending as far as any head may turn.
I would like to see one at or around LakeBarclay
in Ky. or in the mountains of Tenn.
I think having a house on Lake Michigan near the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park would be a wonderful idea. Its locality is perfect year-round because of the beaches in the summer and ski resorts within an hour away.
I would like to suggest New Bern, North Carolina as the site for the 2008 HGTV Dream Home. New Bern has an abundance of natural resources including the Neuse and Trent Rivers and is only 35 miles from the Atlantic Ocean. With the mild temperatures from the Gulf Stream, visitors and residents enjoy fishing, boating, golfing and antique shopping in the atmosphere and climate of a year-round resort. New Bern is also the home of many “firsts” in the state and the country, most notably the Birthplace of Pepsi.
A taste of life in colonial America is ever present at Tryon Place Historic Sites and Gardens (site of the first NC capital in 1710.) Three centuries of history and architertural beauty are just around the corner waiting for your exploration, many dating back to the 18th century. New Bern will celebrate its 300th anniversary in 2010 -What a GREAT celebration it will be with an HGTV Dream Home added to the landscape!!!
Thank you for the opportunity to cast my vote and I look forward to seeing the HGTV crew in my neighborhood VERY SOON.
You have built homes on the ocean, on lakes, mountain views, snow slopes, etc. – I would like to see a loft apartment in the middle of NY city.
I hope the house is built in the western part o Pennsylvania near the Pa Grand Canyon it has mountains, lakes, rivers anything anyone could want in a vacation home
There are two locations that I think would be great. First somewhere on the lake in Hot Springs Arkansas, the winters are mild, the pines are beautiful and you have access to all kinds of little shops. The second is Sedona, Arizona, the weather is great, the sunsets take your breath away and your not for from a major city.

Alabama is the best kept secret in the US. NE Alabama Mountains around the “Little River National Park” area is awesome as are the beautiful white beaches along the Alabama Gulf Coast. Alabama has it all!
With the snow poking down today in Connecticut, I’m hoping your 2008 choice is sunny Florida.
I am sure there are many many places in NJ that would be a dream home,,,think of it,,not too far away, but heavenly!!
I think the next Dream Home should be in up state New York
The great state of Oklahoma in it’s bicentennial year would be a perfect place. We have four seasons, great lakes, caring neighbors and wildlife. You can experience small town life or be in the big city within a short driving distance.
Bend, Oregon….a wonderful place to live with clean air, water and alot of recreation choices!Love those “Three Sisters” mountains!
A dream house boat would really have an ocean veiw and would be very different. I am going with the ocean front property if the boat doesn’t work out. That has always been a dream of mine.
I think the next Dream Home give away should be in New York City. Who wouldnt want a gorgeous house/condo in the middle of the city. It may not have beautiful natural views but it could have beautiful views of the city lights
What’s wrong with a gorgeous home at the beach? Any beach is where I dream of spending my reclining years. I love the ocean, year round. Here in Delaware prices have risen to the point where only Zillionaires can afford a home at the seashore. Oh, to be a zillionaire.
I love entering this contest. Unfortunately, most of the previous winners if not all have sold the house and someone of means has ended up with these gorgeous homes. My suggestion would be to build 10 homes spread throughout the United States, homes that are green and w/ smaller hybrid cars. The contest could be regional, winners could choose which house they were entering for, a local home nearby or their dream location in a far off destination across the country( perhaps near family). The regional winners would get a home they could afford and the pride of helping to save the planet. Just a thought.
2.5 million divided by 10 equals $250,000, surely a nice home and a hybrid car could be built for that.
My guess for the 2008 HGTV Dream Home is a view of the water, either a lake or the ocean. My suggestion for future HGTV Dream Homes is the northern panhandle of West Virginia! It’s beautiful and secluded, with parks close by for hiking and biking, tons of land for hunting and fishing, and there are both horse and dog race tracks nearby for everyone’s enjoyment!
I think a city home in San Francisco or a country home in Napa Valley, CA would be wonderful locations. Northern CA has the best weather in the country as well as the diversity of being able to be at the beach, mountains or in a great city within a few hours.
I think anywhere in South carolina, North Carolina, or Georgia, would be great because I would never move from this great area. I have family in the north east , the south west and north west, and they always say how wonderful it is here when they come to visit. I am always ready to get back to the south east(SC) when I visit any of them. Although there are many beautiful places New Mexico, Idaho, esp. I think the SC, NC, GA would be perfect.
Everyone talks about the ocean view & the mountains, but what about the waterways & orange groves in some of the smaller Florida town. We have a ocean too!
I would love a home on one of the 1000 islands or near the 1000 Islands along the St. Lawrence Seaway in New York state.
A dream home is a home that should be fulfilling the dreams of lots of people who have not get a chance to have a basic shelter…A true dream home should be for the ones who have lost a lot due to natural disasters like by the Katrina Storms and others…
How about building it in Alaska? It would be a wonderful vacation house!
Dream Home 2008. Northwest Arkansas. A growing area but with still lots of NATURAL beauty. Beaver Lake is beautiful.
When we think of a dream vacation most of the time it includes Hawaii. Pick an island and DREAM.
Have no sad story, just a desire for a new home. So I think it will be in Indiana, A new home for me and my husband.
I would love to see something built in Virginia, not too close to DC. Something that has country charm but not too far from shopping and the ocean.
What about a nice beach house in South Florida?
Remember…Virginia is for lovers! And on this Valentine’s day I suggest building the next dream home here in Virginia…near Middleburg…with the beautiful mountains to the west and lots of wonderful horses to see nearby!
I WOULD LOVE THE NEXT DREAM HOME TO BE IN BELIZE A TROPICAL PARADISE WITH LITTLE CHANCE FOR HURRICANE, ENGLISH IS THE MAIN LANGUAGE AND TAXES ARE LOW
I would love it if the next dream home would be here in Indiana, around Gheist resovoir.
I think your next home should be high on a hill in Payson Arizona! Where the eagles soar through the canyons, and just the shear beauty, of the scenery, would make one feel the real beauty of nature. Not to mention living in a dream home, would be the ultimate!
EDENTON, NC. WOULD BE A GREAT PLACE. 1 HOUR TO
VIRGINIA BEACH, VA AND ONE HOUR TO OUTER BANKS,NC
WE ARE RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE. RUAL BUT CLOSE TO
EVERYTHING. BESIDES I AM A N.C. REAL ESTATE BROKER AND WOULD LOVE TO SHOW YOU AROUND!!!
I COULD REALLY HELP FIND THE YOUR NEXT DREAM HOME!
252-333-7540 THANKS BARBARA RENN
I think Sevierville, Tennessee would be the perfect place for the 2008 Dream Home. The beautiful mountains, the colors in the fall when the leaves change, and springtime in the Smokey’s is breathtaking.
Northern Mississippi is a beautiful place. I would love to see a dream home built beside a large pond with plenty of room for horses to be viewed from the back porch with a big cup of coffee in hand.
There are fine architects designing earth sheltered homes. That would certainly provide a new perspective! The home might be partly underground and partly above ground, allowing for the view with a “different” perspective.
Somewhere in New Mexico would be refreshing! Taos, Eagle Nest, Roswell, Santa Fe, maybe even Albuquerque. How about where Smokey Bear was rescued around the Capitan Mountains/Capitan Gap!? Beautiful land there, almost untouched from when “Billy the Kid” was roaming as a young man.
New Jersey would be awesome in the South Jersey area !! WHOA !! There are beautiful homes in New Jersey. We even have a HUGE mansion in West Orange that a Prime Minister stays who.
Who knew ??
My heart is racing with excitement at the thought of dreaming so big, so here goes! Having been born and raised in Scotland’s west coast ~ land of my heart, I will always long for its mystical beauty. Having lived in the U.S. since 1969, I truly found ‘myself’ in this fantastic country ~ land of my soul.
So,wherever you choose to build your next dream home would be fantastic. Thank’s for the ‘dream’.
I think it should be a waterfront home in the San Juan Islands in Washington State. That would be gorgeous!
I think a house under a hill in Montana would be perfect, and yes, I mean under – kind of like a hobbit house! A house on lots of acreage, and a stream running though. Sigh – that would be great.
NEXT DREAM HOME WILL BE SOMEWHERE IN ALASKA, YOU CANNOT GET A BETTER WINTER PARK THAN THAT. DO A DREAM MAKEOVER OF SOMEONE’S HOME THEY ARE STAYING IN ALREADY. THAT WOULD BE AWESOME.
Another vote for Winter Park, Florida. More sunshine, no snow!! Something with a contemporary style. Rustic is nice, but it’s time for a big open floorplan with lots of light.
a great place would be somewhere in the florida keys, very beautiful everywhere you go
I’ve read only one place that there should be a dream home…Door County Wisconsin. There is no other place like it, lake on one side and bay on the other. I’ve lived here all my life and I couldn’t think of a better place for your next dream home. It is called the Cape Cod of the the midwest. Beautiful…God’s country.
how about a house in Pennsylvania, nice place to live also beautiful country
I would love to see an ocean view HGTV Dream Home. Either on the west coast or the East I am not picky. I think it would be wonderful. Just think of all the sea theme nick naks you could get. I love the ocean beach theme and I think a lot of people do too. Mountains are good but I think we need a change.
I think it should be a warm weather state. Arizonia. The mountains near Flagstaff have all the seasons.
Rather than build one home that most people can’t afford to live in why not build five $250,000. homes and give more people a chance at something affordable.
Knowing the amazing locations so far, my guess would be Taos, New Mexico.
There are so many beautiful places in the world, it’s hard to say. Although the Black Hills of South Dakota would be a wonderful site, it would be nice to have a change such as the Napa Valley in CA. That is a beautiful place. Or something along the Nebraska/Iowa border. It’s an unknown treasure there. I live in CO, which is this years site, and of course I already know it’s wonderful here.
There is no question, the next location for a log home sweepstakes should be in the most beautiful national park in the United States–The Smokie Mountains, Tennessee! It may be a repeat but once anyone has ever seen the Smokies; you will want to come back to either visit or build a log home. Believe me, you will love it regardless of where you are from!
Different perspective? Maybe sail-in / sail-out instead of ski-in / ski-out. Somewhere in the Pacific Northwest, where the mountains meet the sea?
BTW, thanks for coming out to play with us!
I am thinking a city view…a completely different perspective than ever before! Lisa
I think Santa Fe, New Mexico would be great since my husband and I are considering retirement in NM.
Well with a view like that you would have to go over the top. Like a veiw of the Grand Canyon.
I think the pines of Northwest Florida Panhandle would be a delight for a new HGTV home.
Chattanooga, TN? Would be my first pick.
I think corbin kentucky, somewhere around the cumberland falls. the only place in the world with a moonbow.
The next dream home should be in PARADISE! Hawaii would be my choice. A dream home in a dream place.
Wow. Let’s see….Maybe a home in Florida!? Or on the coast of Maine!!. Or maybe in Texas!!!
There are so many wonderful places to build the 2008 Dream House. I would like to see a house design that would be “handicap accessible”. Most of the homes I’ve seen are full of stairs and steps. That makes it difficult to be used by people With certain diseasies, or have had some types of major surgeries, or even having elderly visitors.
I would love to see DREAM HOME 2008 built in Bay City, Michigan. As a small girl, I thought that was one of the most beautiful places I had ever visited…even today with as many places as I have had the opportunity to visit it still remains a favorite. I believe no matter the location of the next DREAM HOME it will undoubtably be a lovely place indeed.
How about somewhere along the Pacific coastline? Every day a sunset…. So serene….
The next home will be in Lake Tahoe
No doubt the next Dream Home would be in the Dream Land of Hot Springs, Arkansas. With the beautiful sunrise and sunset over the mountains and lakes it would be a dream house for a dream come true. The lakes are many around Hot Springs and the mountains are changing every season with colors of a painters pallet. In Hot Springs you have all four seasons to enjoy. Hot Springs was made a National Park because of its beauty. DeSoto and the Indians loved the hot waters for health and healing purposes. At the same time, they had the forest and mountains surrounding all the lakes for a wonderful logical place to live. Many people come here for the Beauty and the Hot Thermal Bath’s. More come for the fishing, camping and water sports. Many come for the Horse Races that run in the spring with all the beautiful dogwood trees blooming in the infield.
On Bath House Row, many of the Bath houses have been restored. The Fordyce Bath is now part of the National Park and is in its natural Beautiful state. The waters average 143 degrees. Hot Springs is located 58 miles southwest of the state capital, Little Rock. We are also just a few miles from the only Diamond Mind where people can dig for their future. With all the natural beauty, I could see a Faye Jones, Dream home in this area. With all his windows that open to let the outside in, would make for a Dream Home.
Thanks for letting me tell you about a place for your next home.
Are you going to build the new dream house in New Zealand? I’ve heard it referred to as the land “far, far away.”
A home of my own would be the best dream home. One in the western canadian rockies would be the ultimate. A skiers fun time and Lake Louise OMG can you say spectacular view.
how about chicago because there is good shops and great food.:)
I would love to be able to go back to the Smoky Mountains….so build your new home there! It’s the most serene place anytime of the year.
How about Michigan, Mississippi, or Tennesse? Our country has many beautiful places. HGTV seems to find great locations to build Dream Homes. How about a twist? Build in beautiful areas that have not received a great deal of attention–discover the natural beauty in these states.
I think that it would be great for the 2008 HGTV Dream Home to be in the always beautiful Lake Tahoe.
I think that it would be great for the 2008 HGTV Dream Home to be in the always beautiful Lake Tahoe.
I have to agree with those who have mentioned building several more affordable homes. The homes that have been built are fantastic but not realistic for the majority. There are many beautiful sites for the next home or homes, but building one in Arizona, would be FANTASTIC!! As someone mentioned before, it is a great place for a solar designed home, with wonderful views of the desert (which has its own special kind of beauty), it can be near a major area or in a small town. You are never far from summer or winter activities, Arizona has a lot to offer.
I’m thinking it’s on the Gulf. Maybe South Padre Island. Sounds good to me!

Corvalis, Oregon
I say the house isn’t going to be on land at all. It will be on the water (a floating house)
Thanks HGTV for great entertainment.
My suggestion is not so much where, but maybe to make it a house someone can afford to actually keep. The homes you create are wonderful. But so far, as I can remember, all the winners have had to sell. They are just too expensive for regular people to keep. How about it HGTV?
I am thinking somewhere with acreage, rolling hills, lots of trees and no visible neighbors. Someplace quiet to enjoy all the things God has blessed our planet with…nature at its’ best!
My favorite place in the world is the mountains but I think your next location will be on a beautiful lake. After a house in the mountain that would be my second choice. Lake of the Ozarks or Tablerock Lake in Missouri are beautiful, as are the lakes in Minnesota, but I suppose most people aren’t like me and would love to have a home in a warmer climate.
i think the new dream house might be in or on the shores of a beautiful beach view. maybe virginia beach or myrtle beach in South carolina. maybe even georgia.
how about Chocago for the great view, food, and store (MALLS!)
Wouldn’t it be interesting if the Dream Home family was picked before the Dream Home was built! They could have input in the design and the location. I would choose my home state of Oregon. The beautiful Pacific Ocean to the west and the Cascade Mountains to the east. Possibly Bend Oregon because of the Lakes, Mountains, and recreation options.
It’s just fun to dream about being a Dream Home winner.
What about Cape Cod? Facing the Ocean!
I can picture a New England home on the coast of Maine. One that overlooks the ocean high on a craggy hill.
I would love love love to win a Dream House – especially in Washington or Oregon with good hiking. HGTV always incorporates the natural surroundings and that is so great. I loved all the extra outside areas and the extras in the bunkhouse last year (wall pegs and dog bed) You do the best work and I would be so excited to be the winner of this year’s or next. Thanks for the fun. Laurie
I believe that the next dream house will be in Arizona or Nevada. The desert has some spectacular views.
It must be in upper Michigan in the copper harbor peninsula. Where it is a winter wonderland and a summer joy. Also the Lake Superior is another ocean. A feast for the eyes all year long. Wildlife and nature abound.
We have been trying to find the perfect climate and to us seeing a DREAM HOME on Maui, Hawaii would be heaven. Up-country looking out over the ocean and the mountains. Maui is a beautiful part of our country. We go there twice a year and there is always more to see. You have been building Dream Homes in the US in the mountains, why not give this a try!
We currently live in Montana, we’ve lived in many cities in the US and abroad. This has been the last best place for us for the past 17 years. Bring it on! Montana would be ideal.
I think a home in Maine overlooking the ocean near a small town like boothbay would be great. If the veiw also icluded a light house that would be even better.
DH anywhere in USA– It would be great to be located in the place where we could watch the horses running cross the meadows in the backyard.. It would be great driving through the mountains where it would relax you before you enter the private gate of DH. “Valley of Mountains Dream House 2008″
It would be great to have a HGTV Dream House 08 or 09′ in Kansas City, Missouri area. e.i..Overland Park, Leawood or Olathe area in Kansas are wonderful places to live as well.
A home on a hilltop overlooking the
Ohio River in Louisville or a horse farm in Lexington KY. Include a Box of seats on millionaires row for the Kentucky Derby. You could build a Georgian Mansion and award it just in time for the new owners to throw a fabulous Derby Party. You would be on the guest list of course!
Nashville, Tennessee would be a beautiful sight for the HGTV 2008 Dream Home. The fall colors from mountain tops there are just breathtaking!
I’m in agreement with all those who are pulling for the northwest – especially Washington state. Seattle area – Bellevue – Shoreline – Richmond Beach. I have only recently been introduced to the area through my son, but its beauty is breathtaking – and offers the best of all worlds~snow to the east and the ocean to the west. Plus, the city of Seattle has plenty of excitement, nightlife, and Pike Place Market. What better place for a Dream Home?
Because of the beautiful scenery in UPSTATE NEW YORK, especially in the Fall, I think it would be an ideal place for the new house
I agree wth Brian. Those of us elders that have never owned their oen home would welcome a home . Build several modest homes so anyone could afford one even on very fixed incomes.
A wonderful place would be in Truckee, CA or Lake Tahoe, NV or CA side. the views are breathtaking, the community is great and you are just hours away from ocean as well as dessert and valley. you have all the seasons and you can’t beat the summers, they aren’t too hot and you can enjoy recreational as well as fine dining etc. This area has it all!!
I’ve been contemplating the subtle clue, and all I can see is the Adirondack Mountains….hopefully the next Dream Home will be somewhere in Vermont. It’s quite lovely up there, and the views are breathtaking.
How about Maine, somewhere mid-coast…Belfast/Camden. Ocean and mountain views with very little crime and very friendly people.
How about Buck County, PA? God’s Country.
What about to build a dreamhouse in Holland
so you can show the Dutch that you can build houses like they can do dikes.
And I would love to win this.
Tineke
Overlooking fields of sunflowers, soybeans, and maybe a herd of buffalo in beautiful North Dakota.
The foothill area of the Sandia Mountains in Albuquerque, NM. Great view of mountains, Rio Grande River Valley, front row viewing of the balloon festival in October, view of the Jemez Mountains, close drive to Santa Fe, various cultures, lakes, forests, desserts, and I could go on and on!
High atop the Smokey Mountains, somewhere between
Maryville, Pigeon Forge and Townsend Tn.
GODS country. Right now I Live in Jonesboro Ga;
going on twenty years but I get up there when
time and money allows.Wife and I volunteered at Cades Cove in 1999 and 2000 for five weeks at a time. Loved it!
I think the next new dream home will be in Michigan. Michigan is a wonderful state. No matter where it is built, I am sure it will be awesome. Thank you for building such beautiful homes. It is always a pleasure to watch them on HGTV.
I live in beautiful Utah right now, but I could live anywhere…my dream home is with my family.
Having been born and raised in southern California and then moving to the Pacific Northwest, I now truly appreciate Oregon’s spectacular scenery! I think it should be in southern Oregon (specifically Ashland!) where we have 4 gorgeous seasons and it really doesn’t rain as much as the northern part of Oregon and Washington. It has culture (Shakespeare festivals), lots of tourism, a local ski resort, lakes and rivers. I believe it will be in the northwest.
The most beautiful place in the world is near the Great Lakes, in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Woods, wilderness, and water. A house here would put you in God’s country.
As the majority of Americans are thinking about where to retire, I think the perfect Dream Home would be perched atop a hill overlooking a beautiful, tranquil body of water, in the north eastern area, maybe Cape Cod which offers many activies along with the tranquility of the ocean. The coast of Maine, the eastern Great Lakes and the Adirondacks, Lake George areas would be great locations for a true, once in a life time DREAM HOME!
It definitely has to be someplace warm with easy access to a beach or ocean view. My guess would be Hawaii (or maybe that’s just my dream!! Wait! This is a “dream home”, isn’t it????
Northern California Coastal gets my vote…ocean views, craggy vistas, close to the redwoods, not far from the vineyards…moderate weather… pretty close to ideal…
just a thought–Lake Tahoe is probably the most beautiful part of the U.S. It is truely “God’s” country. I traveled there from Michigan to scatter my husbands ashes. Although one must jump through hoops to build there, it is the most beautiful spot I’ve ever been, and I’ve traveled almost all of the states.
How about building a “dream home” that the common “Joe” can afford?? Don’t get me wrong, I think the people at HGTV are doing a great job finding wonderful locations to build their structures and have managed to accumulate sponsors for these endeavours. However, most people cannot afford the taxes and basic upkeep of these homes. Let’s face it, most people would be happy in a place to call “home” that they can maintain. What about building a “group” of dream homes?…3 or 4 could be constructed, maintain the same sponsors and give a few people what they truly need…Just a thought.
I believe the next HGTV Dream Home will be in Pratt America (Kansas) looking over the Pratt County Lake. HA HA
The Monterey Peninsula, Ca. What a beautiful romantic location. Just to lay back in the sand dunes, watch the sea gulls soar, the sunsets on the ocean, gives me the warm fuzzies just thinking about it.
My choice for across the nation is the shore in North Carolina, or the mountains near Asheville -terrific state.
How about a home in Jo Davis County or near Elizabeth Illinois. This area looks like dog patch USA but a lot of people have moved to this very hilly and scenic area. A ski resort is nearby. It is so hilly that you can stand in one high area and see a cabin on a lower hill and then an even lower hill below that. You may need a snow plow in the winter to get in and out. Historic Galena hosts Gran’s home among other things and is very hilly itself, not far from Iowa
There have been a lot of mentions for California, especially Northern coast and Wine Country. I agree that the west coast should have a dream home. I would also include Washington and Oregon coasts in the mix. I love rain!
I’ve lived in Michigan for over 50 years and yes, we do not have any major mountains or oceans, BUT we are surrounded by the FRESH WATER OCEANS of the earth. We are also blessed and delight in all four seasons of the year. I would love to see the 2008 home built overlooking one of our great lakes, surrounded by our mighty pines that are brimming with wildlife from fox to moose. Please come and visit Michigan, I know that you will fall in love with our piece of this beautiful country.

I think Big Sky country Montana would be a great location. 292962
I think it’s time for a Dream Home in southern California: either the coast anywhere from San Diego to Santa Barbara or the beautiful San Bernardino mountains, Lake Arrowhead or Big Bear.
It’s time to come to Florida, most of your homes have been built in the mountain’s. A nice beach house with a beautiful outdoor kitchen space, lots of hurricane proof windows, swimming area with waterfalls & hottub, boat dock, on the ocean or on the Intercoastal, from Palatka to Key West Fl. Jump in your boat, go to South Beach, Bayside, or Ft. Laudefrdale. This is truely the Garden of Eden. No mountain’s, no mudslides, no falling rocks, no earthquakes. Palm trees, flowers, green grasses and trees all year-round. Croatia may be a clue for Croc’s-at-International Airport. You will have to travel south in Fla. to see aligators or croc’s in the wild. So come on down, the water’s fine.
Okay then, Colorado is out, one down 49 to go.
Thinking, thinking….
On Lake Coeur D’Alene in Idaho!
And it wouldn’t have to be a trophy home either. How about two dream homes, each in different locations, and both valued under a million? Then it wouldn’t seem so extravagant.
My home dream is the home in Tyler, TX. The lake view is awesome. To be able to go down to a Lake for fishing or just to relax. I am not so into the snow.
I’d have to agree with Debra from Michigan. You should check out the beautiful properties available in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Anywhere located from Marquette to further north. The rabbits ear is the home of Copper Harbor and Eagle Harbor. I’m sure there are still a few properties available with views of the greatest fresh water supplier in the world, Lake Superior!! Good luck in your search and if your in my area drop me an email and I’d be glad to provide you a tour of one of the last beautiful get away areas in the U.S.!!
Greetings Neighbors,
I would love to see a Dream Home Built in Carmel, California my favorite place in the world. If it is too expensive than I’ll settle for Monterey, California. They are both beautiful and serene. A place where I go to gather my inner poetic feelings. Humbly, anywhere I would be thankful, it’s great that your corporaton is able to do this.
West By God Virginia! Esp the Smoke Hole region near Big Bend. Some of the places are hard to get to but the views are worth it.
This might be selfish, but I’ve always dreamed of a house at “the shore”, specifically southern NJ.
I’m originally from that area, but never realized what my home state had to offer.
I was fortunate enough to visit the West Coast and various states along the eastern seaboard, but no where else did I find the incomparable fine, white sands that exist along my own home state’s coastline.
I can tell you, no one was more surprised than I was that not all coastline’s were as phenominal than I one I grew up with.
I now live in the Southwest and although it’s quite beautiful here, the sounds of the ocean, it’s breezes and the fine, white sand between my toes, call to me constantly.
Talk about not knowing what you had until it’s gone!!!
Anyone fortunate enough to live in a “dream house” in this area, truly evokes my envy.
Maybe someday, “my dream” to live there again will be realized.
My best to all..at HGTV, you’re certainly are an inspiring group!
As close to Glacier National Park as you can get, would be the first place. Santa Fe New Mexico is next if you can’t do Durango Colorado!!!
How about a beautiful energy efficient home celebrating our national indian heritage in Santa Fe, New Mexico or nearby in the foothills of the beautiful mountains. Looking at the landscape of America we truly live in the most beautiful place on earth!
My husband and I were recently forced to relocate from Pittsburgh to Charlotte and would give anything to move back home. For those of you who have never been to Western Pennsylvania, specifically, Pittsburgh, it is a beautiful area and the cost of living is wonderful. Being able to move back would be my dream come true. Bring the HGTV dream house to Pittsburgh and that would be wonderful. If that doesn’t work, my home away home, Hawaii, specifically, Honolulu, would be a great place to have a second home. I want to win!!!!!!!
I think the location should be in the mountains of either New Mexico or Arizona.
North Coast of California, Beautiful remote rocky coastline. Current residents :Harbor Seals, Sea Lions, whales, dolphins, migratory birds. Extra’s include: Temperate weather, no crowded beaches, many artisians, no pollution, no off shore drilling, laid back communities, room to grow, low crime rate, schools that are not crowded….top it all off with the surrounding giant redwoods, doesnt get any better than that
I would love to see a Dream Home somewhere in Hawaii…………
On the beach in Southern California-best weather in the US
I think a DREAM home with a different perspective would be one with a fabulous beach view, maybe one that sits up on a hill. Anywhere on the Pacific Coast would be fantastic (swim in the ocean, ski on nearby mountains), but the Carolina beaches are also nice
Though I live in Kansas and would love to see one of your exquisite homes built here, I believe the next one will be on one of the coasts.
I think the next dream home should be in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Jackson Hole is such a beautiful Western town perfect for a dream home.
I would like a house on a golf course, wtih a beach in the back ground, and on the other side of the house have a view of the mountains.
I would like a house on a golf course, wtih a beach in the back ground, and on the other side of the house have a view of the mountains.
I think it will be somewhere like Lake Tahoe or Alaska. I’m just a little partial to the South though and it would be nice to have it somewhere in Arkansas.
Let’s support a part of our country that could really use some positive comments. NEW ORLEANS! The commerce that HGTV could bring to the area could really help the economy and image there. I love America! Let’s help the base of the Mississippi heal.
Dec.1, 2006 my two children and I watched our family home burn down to the ground. We unfortunatly did not have any insurance to rebuild. Our long range goal was to achieve a home in the country where we could hunt, fish, garden, build more water fountain’s, basically be us. Before we could accomplish our country home we knew it would be more feesible for us to buy a home in town with easy access to my 3 jobs, Marty and Megan’s school activities. Therefore, we worked 8 years adding on to our home in town and we had a wonderful time doing it, we made 5 different patios including one around the swimming pool we put in. We tucked into a corner a relaxing water fountain w/a cozy flower garden under our mamosa tree,(which held our never ending collection of windchimes). We knew eventually someone would walk into our little part of heaven and appreciate what the 3 of us had created during our family time, and our love for life and nature’s beauty. Now… no one will be able to enjoy what we worked so long and hard on, that is no one but us, we have the memories. And our home in town we no longer can sell for the down payment of our country home we have so longed for and was so close to achieving. We are now living in the country but, it is not in our dream home, it is in my parents dream home that they always wanted. We are very thankful to have them but we long for our own place to call “Our Dream Home” If we were to win our dream home our prayers would be answered and this blessing would be truely appreciated more than anyone could ever imagine. Melissa, Marty, and Megan
Scottsdale Az, I visited this area once and never have I forgotten it. It has everything a dream home would require. Breathtaking views and landscapes as well as lovely people.
A home with large windows facing the beautiful Organ Mountains in Las Cruces, Dona Ana Co., New Mexico would be spectacular. I think the next Dream Home might be a house built in a tree.
Maybe in very large trees?
Northern California, perhaps?
Hello
It’s been fun getting the chance to win.
I am 51 my husband is 53..
We have never owned a home.
We live in Northern Minnesota, too cold
and time to move one day.
I have lived in Denver and miss the
mountains.
I wish whoever wins the very best.
I think they should built it in Las
Vegas, a lot of retired people would love to see
this being built where they live and play
I’m originaly from NH, which has ocean and mountain areas both beautiful, also have spend time each summer on coast of Maine. I now live in Florida as the winters up north are two long. I would love to see a HGTV home build in the NH area, in reading other peoples messages notice the Lake Region area has been mentioned several times. There are so many places to choose from whether you want to be in the woods or by a lake or the ocean. Take a trip up there and pick anyone of them you won’t be sorry. Just know where ever you pick, the home will be beautiful and in a wonderful area. 387272
Hello, I would think the east coast would be nice. Cape May New Jersey, it is beautiful and historic. It is like being in another world.
Have you all thought of maybe Sante fe, Taos, or even Albuquerque ,New Mexico..This is beautiful country here in the Southwest..If someone wants peace and tranquility.New Mexico..is number 1.
Coastal, warm, ocean view, Carolina coast, Virginia coast – great!
I would love to see it in Maui. It is truly a island of beauty. Small, quaint and a wonderful view from all sides. The ocean surrounds you in a way no other location can. Mountains all around you.. what more could anyone ask for. A truly wonderful place to be.
I think a home on the coast of Maine would be beautiful and dramatic.
I live in Georgia and the coast around Darien is beautiful I would love to see a Dream Home there.
I have enjoyed entering the sweepstakes every year and hope I have many more years to enter. HGTV is wonderful.
Regardless of where you locate the next Dream Home, I would echo some of the comments from other posters – build into the design and operation of the next home a high degree of energy efficiency and self-suffiency. Their will be great interest among local architects, builders, utility companies, material suppliers, and even local and state governments to support green building and energy efficiency. One ideal spot for such a home is in Hawai`i; any of the islands offers excellent solar, wind, wave, and even geothermal options. My choice place – Kailua, island of O`ahu, Hawai`i.
I FEEL THAT THE NEWEST DREAM HOME WOULD BE GREAT IN WEST VIRGINIA, LOCATED IN THE APPALACHIAN MOUNTAINS. BUT BELIEVE THAT IT WILL BE IN THE SMOKEY MOUNTAINS WICH WOULD BE WONDERFUL TOO. BOTH ARE BEAUTIFUL.
A Dream home belongs in a dream location of course, which is the San Diego, Ca area. Beach on the west and mountains on the east. Reachable beach to mountains in under an hour.
I think a dream house would be great in the wildness of Alaska. Out of all the states we have visited Alaska is the most impressive.
How do you pick just one place in such a beautiful America we live in? I moved to the prairies of Montana with a view of the Rockies and a view of the prairies and a view of Lake Frances – Million Dollar views; however one of the most beautiful places in the world is Homer Alaska in the summertime on a sunny day. 292962
How about near the Flathead Lake in Montana, the mountains, lake, pines are awesome sights.
I think the next HGTV Home should be located on one of the beautiful San Juan Island…Friday Harbor? I vacationed there several years ago and WOW!
If its a view like the Winter Park Dream Home but with a different perspective, it sounds to me like the view will be looking AT mountains, perhaps on a lake.
I have enjoyed entering your Dream Home contests and tour each one with awe and wishful thinking. Most of the Dream Homes have been built in the mountains, and if that is your preference, then I think you should give the Mountain State of West Virginia a try. We have beautiful, majestic mountains, all four seasons, wonderful ski resorts, plentiful lakes and rivers in which to boat, fish and ski, and an abundance of wildlife to enjoy. West Virginia has it all!
New Hampshire is beautiful in pictures, but I have never been there. I wonder what an Ocean Front house would look like there?
Yes! I also have an American dream……an excellent place for me, my husband, daughter (20 months-old) and my parents to live would be by the New Jersey shore, or the wonderful views of Wayne, or the beautiful hills of Pennsylvania. Teachers are the heroes of our society, with the support of our students’ parents. God Bless America.
THE NORTH SHORE OF LONG ISLAND OFFERS MANY SCENIC AREAS SURROUNDED BY THE LONG ISLAND SOUND PECONIC BAY AND WE HAVE THE ATLANTIC OCEAN. SUFFOLK COUNTY
HAS BEAUTIFUL FARMLAND AND PLENTY OF VINEYARDS. WE ALSO HAVE MANY CUTURAL CENTERS AND ARE CLOSE TO NYC! THE FOUR SEASONS WITH THE VARIOUS LANDSCAPES ARE A PAINTERLY EXPERIENCE!
New Mexico is truly a Land of Enchantment. The perfect place for the 2008 enchanting dream home! In the Sangre de Cristo foothills?
Blue Ridge Mountains in Virginia or Lake Anna in Spotsylvania VA or Leesburg, VA or Fredericksburg,VA, or Myrtle Beach SC or Hilton Head SC or or any where along the coast line in South Carolina….or along the Intracoastal Waterway (think of the exposures for HGTV)….or for the heck of it–upper Northwest Washington DC…. all of these would be absolutely wonderful !
From: MyManyMansions
I would like to see the next dream house either in the eastern part of Oklahoma (Green country) or another great place would be the northern part of New Mexico with a few of the mountains.
But whichever location will be chosen – it will be another great place for having a dream come true.
I would vote for Texas any day, however I think it is going to be somewhere like Oklahoma, Mississippi, or North Carolina. I think it would be great to see a Dream Home that incorporated energy producing products like solar shingles. Who doesn’t dream of not paying an electric bill!
I think the next dream home should be built on the outskirts of the “Dream City” which is Burlington, Vermont! Known as the “Queen City” as it is on the shores of Lake Champlain, it has been called one of the best places to live in the US. It would be an awesome place for a dream home. A “green” dream home would dovetail nicely with it being built in the Green Mountain State!
I’d say either Hawaii or Oregon… Ocean view or Lake view
I LIVE IN THE SHOW ME STATE — MISSOURI
PLEASE BUILD YOUR NEXT HOME HERE IN THIS STATE.
My ultimate dream home would be in Key West or in the Bahamas. Some place with gorgeous weather the majority of the time-and accurate advanced storm predictions so that I can get out of there in the event of a storm.
Halifax, N.C. ,beside the Ronoake River.A great History of the beginning of the USA,and a colonial style HGTV Dream Home.
Lake Tahoe California
The next year’s dream home should be in Hawaii,
with an ocean view, that would be the ultimate
dream home.
Can you imagine the positive advertising return you would get if you simultaneously built ONE affordable house in EACH STATE? Your return on investment would be enormous and Look at all the happy people!!
I live in Missouri and the area around Table Rock Lake is beautiful, of course around the Ozarks is all beautiful. I visited New Orleans June before Katrina and it was very beautiful, building a dream home there would not only help the community but would help them to see that dreams do come true. Just my thoughts on the matter. All of the homes are beautiful and dreams due come true thanks to the sponsors and HGTV. THANKS FOR YOUR SERVICE AND GREAT ADVICE !!!
I would suggest somewhere in Texas again or maybe Utah, but as was mentioned elsewhere, make it a “green” home. Fully self-sufficient, solar powered/heated/cooled, that looks like a normal house (not wierd looking or avant garde). Also make it with an awesome home theater.
Keep dreaming… Dream Dream Dream. That’s exactly what this blog and the Dream Home promotion is all about. Look at all the different ideas of what a dream home means to all of you. That’s precisely the point… a dream home is individual. No matter where DH08 is built it will be beautiful, with breath taking views, and it will contain many wonderful amenities that we may wish for. That’s why they do it. HGTV Dream Home is a fabulous promotional advertisement for all the great products within, but it’s also an opportunity for one lucky winner to be able to make their own dream come true. So keep dreaming folks… and good luck.
As to where DH08 will be built… as I said previously, based on the hint so far either 1. Grand Canyon view, 2. Mountain range view in the Southwest, or 3. Eastern Continental Divide view. The next hint may change my thinking.
WOW, look at all the great suggestions!!! I think the most beautiful area is around MENDOCINO, California. Whale watching, nature, botanical gardens, Redwoods, walking and horse trails, ocean and beach and CALIFORNIA SUNSHINE and unique native plants, art, fishing, and more!
Jan Layher
My ideal home would be a mansion in the middle of Central Park. Close to everything, but quiet. Since I don’t think NYC would allow that, the coast of Connecticut is the next best place with the same virtues. Close to all the shopping and food and culture, yet on the quiet coastline, with mountains nearby.Great things DO come in small packages.
Hopefully you will decide to build in one of my favorite cities: Santa Barbara, CA; Austin, TX; or Honolulu, HI
Any part of Croatia coast will be great choice.
Here is the proof: http://www.croatia.hr/English/Home/Naslovna.aspx
Since I seen HGTV does builts those the Dream Houses often in Eastern for years. Now, The Dream House finally start moved to Central this year. How about start with Western, Hmmm? Best place to start is in Washington State I think.
I think the next Dream Home should be located in beautiful western Pennsylvania. The lush, green rolling hills, the beautiful Amish farms, and incredible landscapes are exquisite. The food is fantastic, whether served at great restaurants, or even at one of the many local arts and crafts fairs that are prevalent in the area. Combine all the great history and it makes this a very unique place to live. There are many lakes and state parks, places to ski or snowmobile or hunting and fishing for the outdoor enthusiast. If theater and concerts are your interest, the Pittsburgh area is only 45 minutes away. Check us out for future sites. We’ve got it all in western Pa.
I think that you should choose Beautiful Northern Michigan for your next home. the great lakes are beautiful all four seasons.
I hope that this year it’s the West Coast…maybe in the Lake Las Vegas community, but they would have to get a different interior decorator (I think she’s more country chic and that wouldn’t really work there).
However, they normally go East Coast so let’s suggest Clarksville, TN or Hampton, VA.
I think it will be somewhere in Alaska.
The Winter Park home is a special favorite of mine because my first skiing experience was at Winter Park (the first year they installed the T-bar lift). For 3 great summers during the early 1950s, my brother and I ran the movie theater over in Grand Lake. The Rocky Mountain National Forest has also been a frequent vacation destination for our family during the last half-century.
The photogenic settings for the Dream Home are wonderful and “make” the home. All of the Dream Homes are beautiful and imaginatively decorated.
However, the trend today is a return to smaller family homes. Certainly, all of us can benefit from ‘green’ homes that are very energy efficient and made to the very highest quality standards.
Why not consider adding further selection criteria (such as access to good schools and quality health care) to your scenic site selection? Possibly, you could even ‘broaden’ the package to include a financial plan that would insure that the winner would be able to enjoy the prize for many years. You might also broaden your list of sponsors.
Why not on beautiful Lake Ouachita? Arkansas is such a beautiful place!
Utah mountains. Most beautiful place on earth.
How about the most beautiful state in the union? White sand beaches and turquoise water? Maui is my dream home location.
I think Tennessee is great with its rolling green hills.
Somewhere in the Rockies with a distant snow capped mountain view, a dream horse barn to go with the doggie dream house, access to a National Forest, fishing and hunting – ROOM TO ROAM!
i think it will be built in hawaii!!!!
I think a beautiful area for a great energy efficient home would be along the north shore of Lake Superior in Minnesota. I really would like to live somewhere a little warmer but it is not in the cards. Many of my family lives in Minnesota and I love being on the water. It is so calming to look out over a lake in the summertime. I am hoping to win one of your homes , this year would be great!
the next dreamhome for 2008 can be in alaska!!!
i think it will be built in hawaii!!!!
My husband and I live in Kentucky so it would be nice to have a Dream Home some where in driving
distance. We have raised 5 children and now have nine grandchildren. My husband has always dreamt of winning the lottery so that he could rest in peaceful surroundings in his later years. To win an HGTV Dream Home ANYWHERE would be a blessing.
We could sell our modest home, pay our bills off,
and treat our family/friends to enjoy the home.
I guess next year’s home will be near the
SMOKIE MOUNTAINS in Tenn.
How about a home in Bellingham, Wa, overlooking the Puget Sound.
How about Northern Idaho on a lake or river or western Montana on a lake or river. On a large lot or on a few acres
A home on the Connecticut Shoreline would be spectacular.
Yesterday I thought Alaska, and today I believe it is Alaska, home of those Northern Lights.
I would love to see the next HGTV home built on a lake in the beautiful state of Wisconsin.
I would like to see the 2008 Dream Home be built in Hawaii over looking the water or along the coast of California over looking the water. I think it should have perfect weather year round so it can always be enjoyed.
I think the most peaceful and relaxing and exciting place to build the next dream home would be in Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri. The scenery is just wonderful, you could watch the sun come up over the lake, and down over those amazing Ozark Mountains. There is anything and everything to do there, shopping, boating, fishing.
The 2008 HGTV Home would be nice on the coastline water. The 2006/2007 Homes were beautiful, but both have been in the cold country.
Build it at the Worlds End.
State Park that is – in NE Pennsylania. Beautiful area, often overlooked. This is near where Marie Antoinette would have exiled. Much history in the area, antiques, etc.
i think the next house should be built either down along the new jersey shore line, or in the pocono mountains in pennsylvania. I have entered the sweepstakes in hopes of winning the 2007 dream home.
Every place you have chosen is great, but I think along the Columbia River would be incredible. The views of the river, Mt. Hood and the incredible waterfalls woud be absolutely fantastic.
I agree with the person that suggested an ENERGY EFFICIENT HOME. This would be ideal for any of the sun belt states. Personally I favor northern Nevada but Arizona or New mexico could be fabulous also. a southwest sylye home with solar, radiant heat floors, and all those fabulous things.
There is so many places in the United States it would be hard to pick one. The lakes, mountains, historial towns, vinery fields. Just to be able to set on the front porch and watch the birds, flowers and sun come up the joy that would bring. It would be a different day for you than the every day life of getting up and going to work.
hi, first off i would like to say what a great job everyone at hgtv does and this dream home is keeper….i myself would like to see something in the smoky mountains…i do love the mountains but i am a kansas girl…just the idea of such a spectular place anywhere gives me the chills…good luck to everyone who enters but i hope i win….yours linda (sneakyeyestwo@yahoo.com)guinnip…..
I think the next Dream Home should be located in the Midwest, specifically in beautiful Wisconsin. Somewhere in the lower third of the state. Beautiful season changes and rolling hills.
If I were to wish for a dream home, I would wish for a home in the Hawaiian Islands, with its own beach or awesome view of the ocean. . I can dream can’t I?
Hi from the great state of Kentucky. It would be great if you considered splitting the amount that you use to build such a large house in to maybe four or five smaller homes at different locations across the united states. The beautiful Barren river Lake near Glasgow Kentucky or the Dale Hollow Lake at Burksville Kentucky would be great locations. Or you could build it on our 50 acre farm in Scottsville Kentucky. I like the sound of the last suggestion.
The Idaho mountains—a perfect setting for a HGTV home—especially close to Cascade, Idaho.
The HGTV Dream Home, ah what a dream. I just love the Colorado home. I love all of the HGTV Dream homes. Every year I get to day dream and imagine myself waking up in the dream home. I’m so sad when I find out I’m not the lucky winner. But I won’t give up!
The Dream Home 2008 would be perfect in the Northern California coast, nestled in near the Redwood forest. Four seasons, clean air and nothing but the view of beauty. I’ll be waiting!
Cheryl, Fontana, CA
By all means by the WATER, coast or lake, it does not matter. Preferably w/mild climate, with beautiful vegetation surrounding the house. Would love more contemporary international design, perhaps each room with its own flair? Aloha
I think a great spot for the 2008 Dream Home would be at The Sea Ranch on the rocky coastline of Sonoma County California north of San Francisco. It’s close enough to wine country and San Francisco to visit, but truly a getaway spot. There are expansive views of the coastline and the water from both the ocean front and hillside locations.
i wish for 2 or 3 dream homes so people like me who live in a 3 bedroom home could have a better chance of winning. we dont need a 2.5 million dollar home to make us happy. i also would love a home in new england or virginia. think of making 3 families happy instead of just 1. much luck to everyone who tried to win.
I have dreams of visiting Martha’s Vinyard. It would be a great place for me to retire. Please build my new home there!!!
A second choice would be Assateque Island in Maryland!!!!
I’d love to see a DH in Taos, Sante Fe, or Sedona. Instead of a snowy mountain view, how about a blooming desert view? I think the desert is just as beautiful as the mountains. I think there are some clues in DH07 that point to Taos, or maybe it’s wishful thinking.
Somewhere in the smokey mountains. It has been a while since there has been a house in the central part of the US.
i vote for my home town of palm springs, california or in the nearby area of sky valley. something ultra modern, solar powered, pools and streams and fountains galore…on about 5 acres overlooking the valley. i’d bite for that in a heartbeat.
Washington State ~ 4 seasons, water, mountains, views, cities, country, desert, we have it all. Plus no state sales tax BONUS!
Have you ever seen Door County, Wisconsin in the fall? Or the Spring or Summer for that matter? It’s one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been. Of course, Savannah, Georgia is pretty great too.
A laid-back style in Natchez, Mississippi would be great..with lots of screened verandas.
I would love to see them come to Creswell, North Carolina. I have been here for 6 years and we need a change real bad.
I believe the one or two windows will be under water with the marvels of colorful fish.
I would like for the next Dream House to be somewhere around Lake Cumberland in Kentucky.
I think that somewhere in Northern California, above Tahoe and Truckee- somewhere in the Sierra Nevadas- that would be a dream.
I would suggest the foothills in Tucson , AZ one of the fastest growing places in the U.S. Magnificent views, spectacular weather, solar power and energy efficient with water features providing the drama, and the really cool part would be as a Realtor, I could help you find it! Have a warm Arizona day!
I think my home town of Chattanooga, Tennessee, would be awesome. It is a beautiful and growing city where I grew up. I now live in California and it is a beautiful state but does not compare to Tennessee in beauty. There is game, water and everything anyone could want.463
How about a home in the heartland? I dream of a lake home on Lake Eufaula near Eufaula, Oklahoma.
How about a dream home built in good ole’ South East Missouri? On some farm land with a beautiful vegetable and flower garden all ready to go for the spring! Complete with an in-ground pool for cooling off on those hot sultry evenings! Who says it HAS to be built on the coast or in some tropical paradise?
Kiawah Island, SC would be a good site since it offers beauty and the amenities a dream home site should have.
I think the dream home should be in the eashcoast somewhere. Either at the top of a mountain looking down at the beauty, or by the wounderful coastal waters
I live in the beautiful Ozarks, I think the dream home here would be spectacular. Our hills and mountains are so peaceful. Joan Kunkel
Everyone dreams of a house, but in reality the ones you have built are too expensive to maintain. I really like the sugestion of a few less expensive home, giving a great gift to more than one family, a more realistic gift. I love your homes, I really enjoy your programing and I suggest Florida for your next dream house, with a lovely ocean view.
Richmond Hill, Georgia on the water. Small town
atmosphere, but close to Savannah, Jekyll and St. Simons Islands.
Hawaii would be the perfect place for a dream home! A view of the sparkling blue water and lush greenery… sigh….
How about a house in the mountains above Lake Superior on the North Shore of Minnesota? A different perspective, looking down from the hills, from the snowy heights to the watery shore? We’ve got skiing here too at Lutsen, but I vote for Grand Marais with it’s artist’s colony, and lovely harbor. You can get a good cup of Joe there too, and it’s fun hanging out with the locals at the South of the (Canadian) Border endearingly known as the S.O.B. There’s Sven and Ole’s pizza, the Gunflint trail, and fresh water as far as the eye can see. Cascade State park is only eleven miles out of town for those camping relatives, but there’s everything from donuts to do-dads in town. If it’s Grand Marais, MN you can sign me up today!
I think the past homes have been wounderful, how about building one that when won is still afordable to the average income person. Like me I am on a fixed income and as much as I would like to win a home I don’t think I could aford the taxes. Maybe build one in MICHIGAM I think it might be a great place. We have 4 great seasons so there is something to do for everyone. Just look around at the state, walking trails, camping, winter sports, fishing lots and lots to do and see. I think that is where it might be built next. Hope so anyway
Comming from eastern block i am the first from my family in this country.I believe the dream home should be in USA anny whare-Dream Home for manny of us is to have one…I think you have done a lot to make manny people happy and you give them a chance to start in a wanderfull lifeGod Bless America… I know this is the best country in the world, and its going to be eaven better with time……………. The Patriot.
It would be interesting if the next dream house will be in New York near Lake Placid
How About Connecticut?
I think the Ozark Mountain Region would be the ideal location for a Dream Home. Gentle mountains, beautiful forrests sprinkled with Dogwood trees, and some of the most gorgeous springs, rivers, and lakes in the country all within easy access to all parts of the country!
I like Cape Cod!
I think that the Texas Hill Country would be a great place for the 2008 Dream Home. It is beautiful there.
The coast of Maine !!! Eastport, the most eastern city in the US. The view across the bay to Canada is breathtaking. !
The coast of Maine !!! Eastport, the most eastern city in the US. The view across the bay to Canada is breathtaking. !
a home in the San Joaquin Valley are or near NAPA
California would be wonderful even into the mountains near Yosemite! what views and what
land! God really did well here!
A dream home on the Tennessee River in Northwest Alabama. The area is beautiful and close to several major cities. Perfect place to retire or raise a family!
On or really near a great beach South Carolina is wonderful all year long!!
I think the “new perspective” for the 2008 HGTV home would be a 10,000 feet penthouse overlooking Central Park in New York City.
I can dream, can’t I?
Cleveland, it rocks. And of course everyone wants to move here!
Couer D’Alene ID in the high mountains overlooking the lake and hotel and other houses.
Time to celebrate the Oregon Wine Country. It is in the middle of everything and the climate is a little dryer and warmer! Not to forget the world’s best pinot noir is at hand.
I vote for a beautiful view on one of the Hawaiian Islands! It would certainly be my dream and anything built by HGTV would be perfect.
Give New York State your consideration. The north shores of Long Island would be perfect for building a dream home. Im a senior citizen who all her life longed to own a home of her own. The American dream evaded me–but hope never leaves ones heart. I love New York–the city-the countryside. Its here that everything is.Give the state of New York this honor and give this really old person–me her life-long dream come true.
I think the next house should be in the beautiful northern parts of Michigan.
A different perspective, huh? Well…the perspective I would love is viewing the entire waterfront cityscape of downtown Seattle from across Elliot Bay on Alki Avenue in West Seattle. During the day from Alki you can see all of downtown, sunrises over the Cascade Mountains, Mount Rainier, all the waterway activity, resident Alki eagles, herons and harbor seals (not really sure they’re seals – some kind of cute, furry water mammals!), and sunsets behind the Olympic Mountains. At night you see moonrises over the Cascades, the breathtaking view of the city glistening across the Bay, the ferry traffic looks like floating emerald jewelboxes, fireworks displays from two different locations on the 4th of July and from off of the Space Needle on New Year’s Eve, and moonsets behind the Olympics. And that’s just what you can see!!! Never mind living in the very cool Alki neighborhood of West Seattle. Lots of restaurants, coffee shops, walking trails, parks, and oh, yeah, Alki Beach!! All this just a ten-minute drive from downtown (20 -30 during rush hour). The 2008 Dream Home could either be a penthouse condo or a single-family dwelling as Alki Avenue has mixed residences. Or, at the west end of Alki you could have a Dream Home right on the beach!! A Seattle Dream Home? Definitely!
p.s. I LOVE Seattle, but I’m a court reporter, not a tour guide. Do you think I should switch careers?
I believe that the different perspective that it will be a “tree house”
CROATIA?? Really? Do you not realize they have spent nearly the last decade and a half in a civil war latent with ethnic cleansing? I am not kidding and am being serious. Please don’t be flippant with suggestions. Your recommendation is truly on par with suggesting the dream house will be in Bangladesh or Iraq.
Sedona would be a fantastic location and a state the HGTV has not already covered. But then Lake Tahoe would be nice for the same reason while allowing you to almost check off NV and CA!
is there a place on the HGTV website that has a complete list of all previous dream home locations? just interested…….might help a bit with the “clues” process!
thanks for any help you have on that question!
As for the next locale? How about the Catskills?
A dream home should not only be a beautiful house but also surrounded by good natural resources. I would recommed somewhere in the US rockies or Canadian Rockies where there is natural hotsprings in the property to enjoy (It should come with the mineral right of the property) as well as breath-taking views and doesn’t break your piggy bank to get there.
Somewhere in the Northeast. The Pocono Mountains is a beautiful area.
Any where in the continental United States will be great! I love the enthusiastic comments also.
A view with a different perspective implies looking down as opposed to up. My idea of a spectacular view would be from a lakefront highrise condo in Chicago. Chicago has one of the most beautiful skylines in the world. A view of Lake Michigan and my beautiful city couldn’t be more perfect.
Colorado is my dream state to live in. I entered the contest as I do every year but not sure about my chances as I did not enter every day. Life comes at you fast you know – can’t remember everything. I would love a shot at another Colorado home and a Texas home like the one a few years back with the guest house would also be nifty.
I think a dream home should be an exteme……Ivory Coast from beaches and tranquility or in London England for the theatre and great shopping.
But if you must keep the “Dream Home” in the US than none other than Las Vegas @ Red Rock!!!
Vegas Baby
I think an obvious choice for a house that is similar “but with a different perspective” would be built in “the city different”- Santa Fe, New Mexico.
My vote is for Southern California, either Los Angeles or San Diego, with an ocean view!
A place to call home is is the most beautiful vista of all. This is my family on msn spaces that would love to live in a home anywhere.ME
the florida keys would be a unique idea. this ocean breeze landscape offers it all. the sun weather boating fishing ,a total lazy American way of life.
HAWAII HAWAII HAWAII!!!LOL BEAUTIFUL PLACE ALSO KNOWN AS PARADISE!!ALSO HOME TO LELAND…EH IT WAS WORTH A TRY!!LOL
BOston
I really do not know where the next Dream House will be. Hopefully somewhere warm to enjoy the view and see the beautiful house everyday outside. I believe that God will grant the big beautiful house to whom it should be given to. Thanks for the great opportunity. Anita
The most perfect spot in the world for a Dream home would be anywhere between Gualala pronounced Wa-La-La) and Westport on the Northwest California Coast. Beautiful bluff top views, Lighthouses, sandy beaches, flowers, and temperate weather, plus the beautiful towns of Mendocino, Fort Bragg, Little River, Albion, etc.
I think that the new home should be built in Missoula Montana or in a mountainous area in the middle part of Montana.
I THINK THE NEXT DREAMHOUSE SHOULD BE HANALULU HAWAII. WHERE EVER IT IS IF I WAS THE WINNER. I WOULD ENJOY IT. I am always trying to win things or do things for my wife. she is not a traveler but when I showed her this house she was willing to relocate and enjoy the scenery
thank you
I have not seen many entries for Northern Wisconsin (Wisconsin, land of 14,000 lakes). The Lake Superior Area near Bayfield WI overlooking the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore, high on a hill or cliff.
A beautiful home would be great in Texas or Oklahoma. Dream House would be nice by lake Travis in Austin,Texas. A Dream House also would be great in Jenks,Oklahoma, the city of Jenks is rebuilding by the Arkansas river. Tulsa is just 1 mile away from Jenks. Thank you for the Opportunity. Anita
There will never be a shortage of beautiful spots in this wonderful land of ours. therefore which state is not important.I don’t know how you choose the winner but my prayer is for the winner to be someone who not only needs it but who also deserves it. Thanks for the fun.
The northern lights would be wonderful
Anchorage, AK
New York City
I have lived here, in Colorado for over 20 years, and couldn’t have picked a better place to raise my children. I hope your next location would be somewhere in Virginia. That is also a beautiful place to live.
I have no doubt that the HGTV “Dream Team” will again chose a location that is fantastic. I would like to recommend that they consider the beautiful state of Idaho. Boise is the gateway to the great outdoors. You have all four seasons, beautiful lakes & rivers (fishing, kyaking), mountains for skiing, snowmobiling just a couple hours to Tamarack a 1st class resort. I can only imagine looking out my kitchen window at the snow covered mountains. Think Idaho
Northern Arinona is a beautiful and thriving area.
in the heart of TEXAS maybe somewhere between Katy and San Antonio (Hill Country)
Fairfield Glade, Tenn. would be a gorgeous place with it’s golf courses & lakes.
I grew up in the finger lakes area of upstate New York. A house on the bluffs overlooking Cayuga Lake would be spectacular, near the vineyards. There are winter sports, horse racing in Canadagua, boating, the Erie Canal, Cornell University. Yeah it’s buried under 4 feet of snow right now but so is Colorado! Just shouvel off the ice and play hockey or go ice fishing. Check out some of the vacation homes there for inspiration.
I think Drango,Co would be a great location with not to many houses around but not too many trees in case of fires. On a hill side over looking the area.
I WOULD LOVE A HOME IN THE THE THOUSAND ISLAND’S REGION OF UPSTATE NEW YORK. THE VIEW IS BREATH TAKING
I think the next home will be built in Sun Valley, Idaho.
I think the ideal location for the 2008 dream home would be either in the Pocono mountains, PA or Catskill, NY. Access to NYC is a big plus at these locations.
I think somewhere in the California Central Valley would be a good Idea, Grapevines, Mountains, Lakes…maybe
Nowhere more beautiful than the Rocky Mountains, so choose anywhere from Montana’s Glacier / Flathead Valley, to New Mexico. There are mountain valleys, lakes, and streams that soothe the soul.
The ideas submitted about building more than one home, and making it affordable enough to afford the taxes and upkeep are definitely worth considering. How about several lovely homes, all along the Rockies?
Well from what I have seen most of the dream homes have been built in the mountains. Purhaps its time for a nice mini ranch home something on the plains close to the mountains,a place with fields of grass yet conceled in a valley, along or near a stream. Something like that could be built in many of the places listed above.
Honestly, anywhere you decide to build a home would be perfect. I think however, now at 49, living in Casa Grande, Az and having grown up in several different areas of NYS and having ben in many places in the U.S., the perfect place to build a home would be a small town in NYS in the county of Orange. I happened on this town by accident after reading an add in the NY times sunday paper. My Grandma had died in my arms at the age of 84 from a stoke after trying desperately to revive her. Still to this day i haven’t gotten over it. Grandma Emma had left me some money and at the age ripe old age of 26 I wanted to buy land with the $5,000 she left me. I looked in the NY Times sunday real estate section and found this add for farm land being divided in northern orange county
My guess is somewhere on the pacific coast. Northern California, maybe, or the Washington coast. That’s my guess, and I’d love to retire there, too.
I think St. Germain, Wisconsin would be great. It is beautiful in the winter and also in th e spring, summer and fall. The wooded areas are great for a Dream Home.
I would love to win a dream home in Michigan. We have all four seasons. Fall is my favorite. I love the changing color. I love the smell of the burning of leaves. It reminds me of when I was little when we would burn our leaves and roast hot dogs and marshmellows over the fire. Michigan also has great fising, swimming, jet skiing, water parks, shopping hiking, biking, boating, hunting, camping, water skiing, snow skiing, climbing our beautful sand dunes and there is so much more.
Even though I am a native New Englander and would love to see a dream home close by, I think there is a greater appeal to a mild climate. Also, since most people cannot relocate easily, a vacation prospect would be a more effective dream spot. Regardless of location, anyone would welcome the gift of this winning and could very easily adjust to the features offered in any dream spot. All of this aside, I would recommend the Texas coastline,Gulf of Mexico since this is relatively unknown by many of us that live in the other 49 states. The appeal and charm of the Gulf area and its magic would be appreciated by any newcomer.
I would love to see a Dream Home located in New England- on the coast or in the Green Mountain range, either location is breathtaking! Actually, I would also add my home state of New York, too.
My husband and I are about to retire, Colorado is such a beautiful state. This home would have beautiful views from every room. This is also big enough to have all of our children and grandchildren vacation with us all at one time. What could be better than enjoying a beautiful place, than with your children.
Las Vegas, Nevada. A different perspective would be on a hillside looking over the desert at all of the lights from miles away. Anywhere in Nevada, Arizona or New Mexico would be wonderful.
How about the breathtaking beauty Kauai. Moutains, waterfalls, the ocean. How could it get any better?
I think the 2008 dream home will be in the beautiful Ozark Mountains in Branson, Missouri!
A nice adobe style in or near Sante Fe, New Mexico.
We lived in the Pacific Northwest at one time and I must say it is a beautiful place. There are two places that really make an impression and they are the Oregon coast and the Columbia Gorge. BEAUTIFUL!
This is a wonderful thing that HGTV does. Just looking at the responses and seeing everyones excitment certainly shows the American Dream. My vote is anywhere in this beautiful USA.
I think the vineyards of Northern California would be an ideal spot for the next Dream Home. With a beautiful backdrop of rolling hills covered with grape vines, and the warm climate would be very pristine. Of course you would also have to incorporate a small wine making operation into the house plans so that you could grow your own grapes, and produce your own wine under your very own label. That would be Vahalla.
I think the next HGTV Dream Home would be located somewhere in the beautiful state of Maine. Nestled in the pines, with a lake in front. Perhaps built like a log cabin to match the surroundings. That would be awesome!
I think the next dream home will be somewhere in Arizona close to Flagstaff. They will give away a Pleasure Way RV with it, so you can go to the mountains in the hot summer.
Why not build a dream home,{ not so expensive} anywhere in the mild climant area that an ordinary person can afford. I for one would like to win any dream home but at the present prices of the dream homes I would have to sell. It would take a millionaire to own one of theas homes. Fl. would be nice.
The Oregon coast, Seattle area, or a riverfront home in the Paradise Valley, MT
How about Virgini’a Shenandoah Valley?
Hmmmm
Hawaii sounds nice…………
What about the beautiful Pocono Mountains in Northeast Pa?
I wonder if it will be mountain coastal? Haven’t seen anything on the left coast yet.
How about moving Northeast? Ever been to the coast of Massachusetts, New Hampshire or Maine? It is incredibly beautiful. And I agree that a house overlooking the ocean would be perfect!
Thouh it seems odd i think my favorite and a dream home i would vote for every day would b in westeren nebraska the view is spectaculr to me
I think a great place would be a Ranch type setting in TX or the southwest.
I WOULD LOVE TO SEE A HOME BUILT UP IN THE OZARK MOUNTAINS IN ARKANSAS. THIS WOULD BE A GREAT PLACE TO LIVE.
Any place a window has a view, an island off the coast of Maine, the North shore of Lake Superior, Any of the majestic mountain ranges of Montana, Wyoming or Colorado, An ocean view off the coast of Washington, Oregon, or California. I’m not too particular!
The 2008 Dream Home will be in Tennesse the Smokey
Mountains.
Ketchikan, Alaska.
My son is in the Coast Guard in Ketchikan. I went to visit last August and it was Beautiful. Awesome views. Giant Cruise Ships coming in all day long along with Sea Planes landing and taking off. The scenery was unbelievable.
How about the opposite side view of the Continental Divide, maybe Park City, UT or Jackson Hole, Wyoming as both are beautiful areas in which to live. Both areas protect the natural environment and wildlife, and offer many recreational and social opportunities. However, jobs are lacking, so perhaps the 2008 Dream Home will be in Santa Fe, New Mexico, with the same attributes, but more jobs available. Can’t wait to see where it is!
I would like to see the 2008 dream home in my home town of Hollywood. I am Josh Groban.
I would love to see the 2008 home built in Michigan. Yes, we don’t have the “big” mountains or oceans, BUT we are surrounded by the fresh water oceans of the world. We also get to experience all four seasons, have some of the worlds best water sports along with our mighty pines and wildlife from fox to moose. What better place to build a home but overlooking one of our great lakes, surrounded by eternal beauty.
How about Green Country – Northeastern Oklahoma? Somewhere along the scenic Illinois River. Great views, great rafting, and great trout fishing.
The next HGTV dream home should be bilt in beautiful Maryland because Maryland looks like my homeland Croatia
I think Northern Michigan would be beautiful. Lakes galore for boating, fishing, swimming.Winter wonderland for skiing, snowmobiling. It’s all here.
I think the 2008 HGTV Dream Home may be in the beautiful hills, and valleys of the Ozarks in Southwest Missouri
Maybe it will be Olathe, Kansas?
Or better still how about a traditional farmhouse in beautiful Bluegrass country right here in Kentucky.
If Winter Park was surrounded by trees, then maybe a different perspective would be lack of trees…Arkansas is covered with trees, but Kansas isn’t.
A different prespective, perhaps looking down a mountain or a hill? Or grassland? Wouldn’t mind seeing something in the Appalacians…
Near the Columbia River in Eastern Washington
I think Oswego NY would be nice overlooking Lake Ontario. They boast the second best sunsets in the world!
I think that a home built in the Astoria OR area would be absolutely beautiful. Something that isn’t right on the Pacific Ocean but gives you a distant view of the Ocean and the incredible landscape. The feel of this area is almost prehistoric.
I think the next Dream Home should be in Rhode Island. I think its a great place and lots to do here, why because I am from East Providence, Rhode Island. And Because we are the smallest state in the US.
I think the next HGTV dream house should be somewhere with tall sturdy trees. Sturdy and strong enough to build in. There would definately be some fantastic views from high in the tree tops. But the feeling I’m getting is that it’s going to be either beach front,
let’s say somewhere in Florida or a city veiw as in historic Philadelphia. They would be nice too.
Key West, Florida where the water is crystal clear blue-green and the sunsets are the most beautiful red, orange, blue, and purples.
I believe Branson, Missouri would be a great spot. There you have country all the way, and Lake of the Ozarks is not that far away.
I think it would be great if you designed a dream home some of us lower to middle class folks could afford to win. I live in Colorado and would love to win the dream home in Winter Park. However, I can’t afford to win it. I could afford to win and maintain a home in the less than $500,000.00 price range. I could certainly use it! I don’t enter the dream home drawings because I can’t pay the fees and taxes required even if I were to sell it. Thank you, Becky
How about near lake mead in Nevada, was never there but heard it is a beautiful place to live.
A Perfect place would be in Tuxedo Park, NY.. There is only 1 3 arce parecel of Land Left on the lake that is buildable.. and its 65 min to NYC……
It’s gotta be Kansas.
I live in Las Vegas and there is nothing more beautiful than the sunrises and sunsets here. At night, the view from a house setting up on a hill in Henderson overlooking the downtown area would be astounding with the lights. The big plus is anyone winning the house could afford to move because Vegas has jobs!
On a lake in Northern MN, Lake Vermillion would be a place to see
I think the the next dream home should be in western North Dakota in the Badlands. It would be very peaceful and beautiful there. Also it is in the center of the U.S.
The Ozark Mountains of Southern Missouri and Northern Arkansas are very picturesque and would make a great setting for your next home. An HGTV Dream Home with lake and forest views would be a compliment to this developing area. A location near Branson would be perfect. Plenty of folks moving to this area and I know they love their “HGTV”.
I was born and raised in the four corners of colorado where I could see the Ute Mountain, Mesa Verda, Laplata and the Blue Mountain of Utha now that was a view, I spent the first 35 years of my married life in Arizona around Tucson and Phoneix That’s also God’s country. Now we live in the Ozarks in Arkansas. Toss a coin build the new 2008 home in any one of those places. Make it a home that the average couple could afford to live in. Keep all your bells and whistles and build a home that is efficent, no stairs, with a wrap around porch to drink the first cup of my morning coffee
Thanks HGTV for making a dream of a new home for someone come true.
Jane Young
I think the next dreamhome should be in Aptos Ca. on the ocean close to Carmel and San Francisco, so lovely, a small town by the sea. brenda
How about a house ovderlooking the ocean in Mendocino, California? Yeah?
My Votes:
1. Maui, Hawaii
2. Anywhere on Kauai
3. Desert Southwest (Utah/New Mexico, Arizona)
Mendicino County, Anderson Valley CA would be a great place to be.
Although another Winter Park would be clever, like in Florida, same name, different perspective, beautiful in a completely special way.
I grew up in Seattle – lots of people are mentioning the Pacific NW in the comments here. There’s no question it’s beautiful, mild weather, season’s, not so crowded, etc… Someone mentioned Leavenworth, WA – it’s beautiful, but sounds like the prison. San Juan islands are nice. It’s fun to pop over to Victoria or Vancouver for a weekend and say I left the country. Oregon is nice too but secluded.
If you want to change it up next year (i.e. get away from fir trees), my vote is Hawaii, New Mexico (Taos has an amazing micro-climates). The south and midwest are cool because of the cost of living is lower and can we forget those pesty property taxes?, blah…where-eva you decide, think of somwhere near a BODY OF WATER :0
IN kentucky. It would be nice to have the
2008 dream home in shellbyville,kentucky
in a gated area with multi.million
homes .
You have not yet had a dream home in
Kentucky. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Hmmmmm! Games indoor and out. Could be any large town that has NFL, NHL, or NBA franchises (baseball is outside) for the games inside. Must have fun physical activities outside. Many places to eliminate, but we do know it can’t be Denver, Colorado. Maybe San Diego or San Francisco? Perhaps Florida? Hmmmm. My wish would be Sedona, Arizona and I think it must be a “green” home. Those who don’t win could learn a lot from watching the Dream Home go up — with instructions re how to accomplish a truly environment-friendly home of the future!
If I won the dream home I would sell it and build an energy effecient solar powered house, so I second the idea that the house should be eco-friendly!
How about sweet little Key West, Florida.
Wow! So many places to choose from for the next Dream Home. I love Arizona, esp if the location is high enough to enjoy all the mountains have to offer, yet close enough to a city to experience the arts. The White Mountains or The Rim are beautiful. Or how about two small dream homes in opposite locations? Sort of a winter home/ summer home idea. Like Southern Arizona/ Montana.
Peg L.
I think the next dream home will be in Canada, but I would love to see one in Kentucky in the mountains over looking a Lake.
I think Grandfather Mountain, NC would be a beautiful spot but since DIY is going to build something in Boone, that’s probably not it. I’d love to own a dream house on either the North Carolina coast in view of a lighthouse or, somewhere on the ocean front near Myrtle Beach, SC, maybe the Garden City area. Beautiful ocean view, all the wonderful resturants, plenty of outlet shopping and flea markets…..what a dream!
I think that the 2008 dream home should be in Laguna Beach, California. The picturesque view takes your breath away. Just imagine sitting there in your chair and looking out your window at that cerulean landscape before your eyes… words couldn’t even describe it!

A nice surprize to everyone would be a dream home in northeastern Kansas. People would not be expecting the scenery of rolling hills, the wildlife, the beautiful foilage, lakes and streams that you find here. There are breathtaking sunsets and lots of peaceful living.
I think you need to pack everything and everyone up and head out for the San Juan Islands in Pueget Sound. A fully green, self suficient 2008 home on one of the islands would be spectacular!
A dream home would be a beautiful passive (heating & cooling)solar home, with wind, water, and solar generated power, a rainforest style greenhouse for gardening and tropical plants, a swimming pool w/water falls and cave, located in a warm climate. It would be an oasis of beauty and peace, given towards creativity. A paradise creation with self-sufficiency, ecologically sound, in a coastal bay area with fishing and boating. It should be in an area (or near to) that has ample employment opportunities, in order for us to keep our dream home a reality.
I would place my dream home in Hawai’i, but I think the dream home will be in Arizona or New Mexico.
I’ve so enjoyed signing in each day for a chance to win 2007! Good luck to all of us. In 2008, I think beautiful Lake Hartwell would be a perfect place for the dream home. It’s waters touch miles and miles of shoreline in both South Carolina and Georgia. I live just 3 miles from the dam and believe me, this is some of the most beautiful country in the world. Not only do we have the wonderful lake views, we also are sitting at the foothills of the amazing Blue Ridge Mountains. We have views of the mountains and lake all at once. Another plus, our folks are the friendlest and kindest people in the world. Anyone, from anywhere, would love it here. Posted by Beverly–Cjesse1980@aol.com
A dream home would be one of two places..1.) the Black Hills of South Dakota,(Custer, Hot Springs, Lead & Deadwood…along those areas) the hills, trees & a nice big meadow with a nice pond with a gazebo for the whole family to enjoy. 2.) the plains of North-western Nebraska (Alliance, Crawford, Chadron…pretty much the Panhandle area). I love the views, sunsets, the animals and watching the grasses and wheat move in the wind. In the North-western area there is the sand hills, farm ground, ranches, the edge of the Black Hills, lakes, rivers, streams and ponds for fishing and boating. A home here could be a ranch style, either one level or a two story . Nice porches and decks for both family and friends, sunroom, mudroom, big garage with a guest suite above it and a storm cellar/room (a must here in tornado alley). A straight log or a log & timber home would look great in both places! So many choices, but these are the two I’d love to see a Dream Home built!!
Too bad I couldn’t get one of the dream homes built on my property ^.^

Colorado Again? Nah…spice things up a lil more won’t cha Bruce! I says ‘build a dream home in West Virgina near Snowshoe Mountain’ – you’ve got an average of 300″ of snow a winter, a beautiful ski resort and of course ‘Mountains’ by George!
Clearly Colorado is amazingly beautiful and makes me drool at times, but 2x’s in a row seems a lil over the top Claude.
Hum, a little off topic. I think they want not where I would like a dream home but reather, where is the next one at. Which I think has already underway. Anyway, I think, these are all good ideas. Although I did not post last year I guessed Colorado last year. This year my guess is …………………..
Great job guys!
KAUAI!!! north shore, up by Prince Ville. Cause, the Linda, Jack and the entire crew of the HGTV Dream Home giveaway can get warmed up after Winter Park
I would love to see one in the southwest desert area, maybe Sante Fe or Tuscon. Barring that, the Missouri Ozarks is beautiful area .
A house in Vermont or Maine would be amazing!
JUST MAKE SURE THAT NO MATTER WHERE IT IS, THAT HGTV IS AVAILABLE (SHOULD I WIN). ANYWHERE MIDWAY BETWEEN COLORADO, IOWA, AND GEORGIA WOULD BE JUST FINE, SO I CAN VISIT MY CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES OFTEN.
We have been in the mountains , and by a lake, it’s time to move into the city. A city view would be wonderful.
I think it should be in Maui,Orange County, Honolulu or this 2008 it be the same maybe in Nashville,The Rockies,Somewhere with big mts. and big lakes.I like both areas anything will do as long as i win!!!!!!
I bet it’s in the Reno, Truckee, Incline Village area. a $2.5M house would fit right in here.
as a homeowner in the ney york area, one of the places we love to vacation is a most beautiful part of the east coast ‘ L B I ‘ which is for you who do not know is long beach island n j take a look im sure you will be sold on this spot
I think the rugged Oregon coast would be a perfect spot for the 2008 HGTV DREAM HOME! It’s an amazing coast, especially in southwest Oregon. The home could be built “GREEN”, taking advantage of the newest technologies of WIND and SOLAR power. The location is perfect for year-around outdoors fun … fishing (ocean and river and lake), hiking, biking, etc. It’s a great place … PLUS .. a tax-advantaged state where young and retirees alike can benefit from a more cost-effective tax rate, etc. OREGON’S GREAT … bought oceanfront land there and planning to build in the next 2 years. It’s gorgeous!
I think that two perfect and very different places would be either, Shawnee National Forest in Illinois, or the desert in Arizona.
Thank you WHGTV, Jack Thomasson, Linda Woodrum & everyone for keeping “The Dream” alive for all of us.
I would like to see and know that the next home could be a miracle dream home in a state where many have lost their home, like New Orleans or Florida. But,if that is not possible, then a pretty environment friendly U.S. state near a major airport will do. Why not celebrate spring and summer year round in a home, where both indoor activities and outdoor activities can take place.
I love this year’s spacious media room. Mine would be similar, a place where I can entertain with all the latest amenities, where family members and friends can gather. It would be great if it had a dance floor area next to it and we can dance our stress away on the weekends. At the end of the day, It would be great if we could sit in the outdoor room- with enclosed hot tub, sauna, swimming pool, and rest sanctuary with an open sky- gazing at the stars.
I need a happy home so please don’t forget to give my husband & daughter a spacious computer room and home theatre area to keep them happy.
My roomy, inviting dream kitchen, where I can cook for friends & family would lead to an open a garden where I can grow, grill fresh vegetables and pick flowers for the home. The dining area would be both in doors and outdoors. It would be great if this home would have solar power energy options as well.
I think the very large master bedroom, master bath and walk-in closet should be separate from the other bedrooms and guest rooms. The guest rooms and other bedrooms would have their own entrance, kitchen, bathrooms and parking area.
I don’t need any thing else. I will bring the margaritas, the music, my swimming suit and golf clubs. I’m ready for my little piece of heaven. Let me know if you want to share this dream with me. Thank you.
Could it be Manhattan??? Great views!
i think the dream home 2008 should be near mammoth mountain, California………or down in san diego, California along the beach.
where do we see the clues or are they not up there yet?
I think it should be in Gatlinburg, TN
a wonderfull place to live, very attractive!
I think Lake Cumberland in Ky. would be a beautiful place
The mountain over looking Flagstaff, Arizona is beautiful for a home.
UP of Michigan is what I think the next DREAM HOME will be…
Pennsylvania Dutch Country, it is a beautiful setting for a dream home
i wish they’d pick a winner & then let them decide where to build it..as most of us working class people could not afford to quit our jobs & move to another part of the country. granted, the money to go along with the home is great but not enough. and to keep the home just for my 3 week vacation doesn’t seem feasible
I think a house in Leaky, Texas on the Frio River would be great! A nice place to go and relax with fantastic scenery in the Texas Hill Country.
How about a dream home in “The land of Enchantment”new mexico…..
I think your next house should be in the great state of Minnesota! We have basically all the looks of Colorado the snow the trees except for the huge mountains! Come on in to Minnesota you’ll love it here!
Hello HGTV… I have been a trooper and every year am confident that I will be the next Dream Home Winner…. haven’t won yet… but always confident. In reading all the comments posed on this site… I saw one that really resonated… “From Colorado to Croatia” what a GREAT idea to create a Dream Home in Paradise! Croatia is a country unlike most that I have visited… and it’s beaches and terrain are like no other. To create a European Dream Home would truly be an incredible thing! I vote for Croatia!
IT HAS TO BE IN VICTOR,ID THE NEXT UP AND COMING AREA OR MAYBE DRIGGS,ID MAYBE ONE ON TETON SPRINGS? IN VICTOR
THERE HAS ALREADY BEEN ONE IN JACKSON HOLE
I think the next Dream House should be in Croatia.
Michigan would be a wonderful location for the 2008 Dream Home. We have great display of all the seasons, our fall colors are one sight to see!!!! Please come to Michigan, HGTV!!!
I think the most perfect spot for DH08 would be Carolina Beach, NC. It’s absolutely beautiful there. We vacation there often because of it’s quiet beauty. Actually, my hubby and I talk about retiring there. So, this would move us up to retirement a little quicker!!!
I have traveled quite extensively throughout the United States and the most beautiful land I have ever seen is Napa Valley, CA. With moderate climates, the green rolling hills and the blue skies, I think a dream home there would truly be a dream!
I haven’t read all of the comments but, PA is a beautiful area. Especially State College or the surrounding areas. I like the one woman’s comment on building a home that a retired person/persons could appreciate. That would be a great idea!!!!

When looking closely at the scrabble game in the pictures of the HGTV 2007 game room the word ‘Kansas’ appears. It is the only word I can read clearly that does not pertain to Winterpark, CO. I believe this is where the HGTV 2008 home will be built – Kansas
Of course everyone who enters wishes to be the winner. Why not consider building the 2008 Dream House somewhere in the Pacific Northwest? The coast of Oregon or Washington and even parts of Idaho (the Panhandle or MCCall) offer skiing, fishing, boating, hiking, and many other opportunities for a Dream House vacation.
I just read one of the comments about Croatia. Most of people here do not know how old and how historic this place is. I suggest you to build next home in Dubrovnik, Croatia. Please visit this website web.tzdubrovnik.hr and enjoy in beautiful Adriatic Sea, one of the most popular and most beautiful places in Southern Europe. People are so friendly, most of people speak English, Italian, and German and of course our language Croatian.
I suggest Dubrovnik because of its beauty, geographic position, historycal value, Dubrovnik Riviera.
“The particularity and uniqueness of Dubrovnik is its permanent live connection to its rich past and its cultural heritage, while it keeps vibrantly in pace with contemporary life, echoing its spiritual identity and its presence in the European cultural environment.”. (Web site)
From the first clue I would guess Hawaii or Alaska – both would offer spectacular views. My next choice would be NC but she got the 2006 home. The eastern KS/MO areas offer some good landscapes – lots of beautiful scenery and lakes and ponds.
The coast of South Carolina or Georgia would be a perfect place for the 2008 Dream Home…The ocean and beautiful beaches and the mountains aren’t too far away either…
I’m not sure where the next home will be, but I know the perfect place! A beautiful town that is a favorite of mine and my husband’s. It is Beaufort, North Carolina. I know there was one in Beaufort,SC, but we love The Outer Banks and go to Beaufort before going to Cape Hatteras and Nags Head for vacations. We went there on our honeymoon. There is so much history there and just beautiful. I have enjoyed entering for the Dream Home this year, thanks for a wonderful website and TV channel! Dottie
North Carolina is beautiful any time of year. I especially love the mountains overlooking Asheboro. Here’s an idea: team up with Homes For Our Troops ( http://www.homesforourtroops.org/site/PageServer ) sometime and build an accessible home for one of the severely wounded military personnel from Iraq or Afghanistan. Just a thought.

Fancy GAP, Va would be an awesome view
How refreshing, after all the war news, to read about our beautiful country and how much people appreciate it. Anyplace in this wondrous country would be great, but I do love Sedona, AZ. And my husband thinks where we live on a small lake in Indiana is paradise.
I live in Colorado and a wonderful colorful Colorado, in the mountains where there a breathtaking views.
I think the bunnies should built a dream house in Split,Croatia.
I think the perfect spot for a dream home is in Sedona,AZ. Overlooking the beautiful awsome red rocks.

Game room inside and out? to me that would be somewhere warm. Then there was a mention of water, so that rules out Vegas. I think Florida. Maybe near Lake Okachobee. Just a thought. Good luck to all in the drawing, I would love to win this house. It would definately solve a lot of problems for me my wife and new born son. Whoever wins I just hope that they enjoy it.
I think Petoski, Michigan would be a beautiful place for the Dream Home 2008. There are beautiful forested hills right on Lake Michigan.
I THINK IT IS THE SAME SCENERY FROM A DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVE: THE OTHER SIDE OF THE MOUNTAIN RANGE OR THE OTHER SIDE OF THE CONTINENTAL DIVIDE. IS IT MY IMAGINATION OR IS LOUISIANA THE ONLY STATE THAT HAS NOT BEEN MENTIONED? I WOULDN’T WANT TO LIVE THERE EITHER, BUT I WOULD BET THERE IS SOME CHEAP LAND THERE. OK SO MAYBE RHODE ISLAND HASNT BEEN MENTIONED EITHER. ONE THING I DO KNOW IS WE HAVE A BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY.
I might have missed it, because I didn’t read all of the blogs, but one state that seems to have been overlooked for a Dream Home is West Virginia. The Almost Heaven state has a multitude of fantastic sites, overlooking rivers and mountains, to build a great home. And…if someone would decide to keep the home, we are only a few hours from other popular destinations, such as Washington D.C., Baltimore, MD, Pittsburgh, PA, Columbus, OH and the Carolinas.
I think the perfect place to build the 2008 HGTV DREAM HOME should be in Port Saint Lucie, Florida.
The weather is nice, the inviroment is just wonderful. You can see Nature’s beauty and Wildlife all around. Thank!
I think the perfect place to build the 2008 HGTV DREAM HOME should be in San Antonio, Texas.
The inviroment is just wonderful. You will find Historical places just about anywhere you go in SA. Well the ALAMO is one of them. Thanks!
LAS VEGAS, NV is always a good idea — maybe in South Hills. We moved here in 1990 from Southern CA and would never move back! The climate is great and there is not a more spectacular view that Las Vegas at night. There is always something to do, great places to eat 24-hours a day, fabulous spas, oodles of golf courses, skiing and winter sports close-by. An added bonus is NO state income tax.
Jekyll Island, Ga. sun, ocean, views, waterpark, historial millionairs “cottages”,outdoor theater, golf, bike trails, deep sea fishing trips, music fest on the beach..too much to mention. on the mainland in Brunswick, shop til you drop and lots more. Much to do on St.Simons Island and Sea Island just across the causeway.
A large beautiful victorian house would fit perfectly in this location as this is what the millionairs cottages are. they are now open for tours.
Mullet Lake, MI is the most beautiful area I have ever seen. A sprawling wooded lake that interlocks with rivers and neighboring lakes for the perfect boaters haven! Blue skies and starry nights galore.
I think the next Dream Home is going to be in the Pacific Northwest (Seattle/Tacoma) area. Whether in the city or on one of the many islands you have access to land, lakes, water sports, biking, hiking, snow sports, fishing, and whale watching. There is even prarie flat land in Eastern Washington. There is/are still alot of natural beauty and resources available. One of the most diverse states. What more could you ask for?
the only place that i have not seen on here is georgia
I grew up near the Little Apple…Manhattan, KS, a medium sized town with green rolling hills, lakes galore and the home of the famous Kansas State University. Where else in Kansas is there and didn’t the scrabble board mention Kansas? My preference would be on the West Coast, even the Pacific Northwest amongst the firs, ferries and friends of Kirkland, Bainbridge Island, or Seattle, WA, or how about Astoria, OR? Talk about views! From Canon Beach to Sunnyside to Astoria, breath-taking views every turn, and Seattle is still only 3 hours away. Then there is the wonderfully climatic San Diego, CA where every day is sunny and a mere 73 degrees. This country has too many places of beauty to name, let alone guess, especially when I can’t get to the Clues each day as my computer freezes every time. However, I just know the 2008 Dream Home will be situated somewhere we would never suspect and be just as spectacular as the last Dream Home and I hope to live there. I’m going to beat Cancer and I really need a new home to keep me busy. Never having one a contest or sweepstakes in my life, HGTV’s Dream Home will be the big one I WILL WIN!
Anywhere from western Mass to Northern Maine. The seasons are much too wonderful to take away.
I think the Dream Home 2008 should be built in Mobile, Alabama where there are woods to enjoy, beaches as well as places for kids and animals alike.
I think the next dream home ought to be where a lot of songs refer to: The Bluegrass State of Kentucky. I lived in Kentucky for a few years and loved every bit of it, the rolling hills, the Kentucky rains, and the history! Good, friendly people live there.
I vote ALASKA…fish, that place is KING.
you should have a house in maryland
Alaska, Alaska, Alaska. Where else is there a fish big enought to fit in the pan? (You did notice that it was a salmon right?) Besides the “mission is fishin” here. Outside (the lower 48) has had enough of the DreamHomes already we’re a state too. Hope to see it here !
How about a home at the foot of the Mable Mouintain in Quartz Valley, outside Fort Jones, California? Snow, mountain beauty. You can’t beat it, you wouldn’t want to try once you’ve seen it.

I’ve read some comments, posted mine earlier too and was really disappointed what people wrote about Croatia. That is one of the most beautiful countries in Southern Europe and they had war 1990, so that is 17 years ego Mister James, nobody is proud of having war in own country but we didn’t choose it, it happened that people attacked them, same as my country Bosnia, our own army was on the side of enemy and we defended ourselves and please do not talk if you do not know the true.

Please do not compare us with Iraq war or some places like that.
Visit the websites and see what one of the most famous places in Europe is and see the history of the Croatia, Bosnia and other former Yugoslavian countries.
Dubrovnik is one of the most beutiful cities in the world.
Just a thought but why not experience Minn.
A small town called Jackson, Mn. where life is simple and beautiful!!
I would say the next 2008 Dream home will be built in IOWA. Wild guess.
HGTV Rocksssssssssssssssssssssssss!
I know an ocean/lake view would be beautiful, the mid-West has some beautiful scenery. I’m a Hoosier and Indiana has some truely wonderful sites, lake Michigan, flatlands, rolling hills,…it’s the crossroads of this wonderful country of ours.
Indiana! Our Hoosier state is beautiful, it has lakes, rolling hills, flat lands, big cities and small towns. ‘Charming’ is the word I’d use.
I think you should build on St George Island, Florida this place is the closest place to heaven I have found on earth so far… Aaah! serenity..
I think a dream home on one of the San Juan Islands in Puget Sound would be ideal! You can have an amazing deck/patio with an outdoor fireplace and a view of the Sound and the mountains. Imagine a serene dock with a gorgeous zen-like boathouse for kayak storage (so the winner can kayak with the Orcas), a meditation garden, and a small morning deck/coffee bar off the master bedroom from which to keep watch for bald eagles. There is a forest trail to a studio/spa area with an infrared sauna, steamroom, jacuzzi, powder room, and a yoga/dance room that is big enough for a class of 8 people. The yoga/dance room has a mirrored wall on one side and is all windows and trees on the opposite side, with window seats and floor-to-ceiling screens that make it possible to keep the windows open most of the time. There is a stone water wall on one side of the studio that uses filtered rainwater from a cistern as its water source. Skylights are everywhere. Oh, there is also an arbor for growing organic northwest blackberries and an herb garden! Ooh, and a small orchard for apricots and blueberries (or whatever grows most easily there – cherries, maybe?).
I would like to see this be an HGTV dream home that is made as “green” and healthy as possible. This would include clean electric, solar & wind energy, recirculating hot water, an outdoor composting bin, efficient natural air ventilation and circulation, natural fiber flooring, and Nikken-type air and water filtering systems throughout the home, including in the showers. Also a small electric car for zipping around the island, and a hybrid SUV for going to the ferry and into the city!
Oh heck, while we’re at it, let’s build a guest house down another little forest trail with plenty of room for 2 couples to stay bed-&-breakfast style and each have their own sitting area, plus a common library/game/media room. Then we can also build a simple bunkhouse that sleeps 6-8 with 2 small bathrooms. Now this dream home has become a premier retreat center!
I would also like to order up a dream hubby to share all this with me. When can I move in? I’ll be the resident cook and massage therapist. Of course, that’s after I attend the gourmet Northwest Pacific cooking classes that are included in this dream home package!

I know this is over since you’ve already revealed the location of the new home, but I think that Nashville, TN would be a beautiful place to build a home. I’m not too sure whether or not you’ve already built there, but it’d be nice. Also somewhere in GA would be a nice place too.
How about a beautiful lake home in none other than the “Land Of 10,000 Lakes” Minnesota? There are so many gorgeous lakes to choose from there & the country is lovey in all four seasons. A large cozy fireplace in the family room & the master bedroom would be delightful to cozy up around in the winters. Lake Vermillion in Northern Minnesota is absolutely breathtaking! From North to South, East to West, there are THOUSANDS of lakes to choose from. Minnesota is a good bet for the best dream home ever!
Dream Home 2008
Here are a few great places: Sanibel Island, Florida; Pittsburg, New Hampshire (Moose Country and close to Canada; any where along the chesapeake bay; or how about the #1 place to live in America in 2007 according to cnnmoney.com Middleton, Wis. or any of the other top 10.
Dream Home2008
anywhere chosen would be wonderful! The idea of a beautiful new custom home would be the ultimate dream. anytime i can have my five children and there family come stay and enjoy (my home is there home) and bask in the laughter and play of my grandchildren, and enjoy wonderful meals made in a fabulous kitchen and eat overlooking beautiful scenery is joyous, specially for my youngest son who was born with down syndrome/autism behaviors being a single mother since he was born does not afford me to have a place like you create, but its so wonderful to dream and enjoy the pleasure your programs bring so many.
I LOVE THE ARKANSAS OZARKS. CHECKOUT ARKANSAS. IT WOULD BE PERFECT FOR THE NEXT DREAM HOME. DONNA HANEY
There is no happiness like that of being loved by your these returning vnhxtrrpczayd was very pleasant or desirable no magnet drew me.
How about Traverse City, Michigan or Mackinaw Island?
San Cabo Lucas, beach, sand and cheap taxes!!!!!!!!!!!
