There is a Dream House in Chattanooga!

Many of you have voted for Tennessee’s fourth largest city as the site for HGTV’s Dream Home 2008.

“I love Lookout Mountain in Chattanooga! It’s beautiful there and a home overlooking the Tennessee River and the valley below is awesome!”

And some have even claimed to have seen the home being built on HGTV. But don’t confuse the HGTV series Dream House with the HGTV Dream Home. It is true that the new season of Dream House (Sundays at 10pm e/p on HGTV), follows a young couple building a home overlooking Chattanooga. But it’s not HGTV Dream Home 2008.

And remember, you only have two more days to enter for a chance to win this year’s HGTV Dream Home in Winter Park, Colorado. The giveaway ends this Friday at 5pm ET, and you can enter once a day until then!

  4. How about an HGTV home near Knoxville, TN? There are lots of activities near and in Knoxville, for instance: Dollywood has activities for all seasons of the year and nestled in the Great Smokey Mountains. Train rides, amusement parks, helicopter rides, lakes and rivers nearby…also in the winter, skiing and other winter sports. And talk about a view! WOW! I believe it would be a wonderful place for that 2008 HGTV Dream Home to be built!

  5. Hey! Here’s an idea. Instead of building a new dream house, renovate and update one of the beautiful old houses in Charleston, SC. Don’t forget about the few of us whose dream house would be an updated classic.

  8. How about giving the West coast a try, 7 of the 10 dream homes have been on the eastern side of the US. WA has a nice town called Bremerton, it’s just across the penninsula from Seattle. Sounds like a nice place to live and the view looks awesome….check it out.

  9. A different state than before. Florida has been represented twice. And other than Florida, the southern states have been represented three times.
Snowskiing out west has been around twice. Northwest and Northeast extremes, one each. Texas once. So something around the Great Lakes, or middle America would be great. There are several beautiful states (like Pennsylvania) that could use a showcase. New Mexico, Arizona or Nevada would be different. The Indian painting in the office of 2007 looked like a Sioux, and that leads me to think Southwest. It must be difficult to assess the cost of the land/construction, type of house and community to offer, and the consumer interest it will generate for each location. Then, to figure out which of the final locations/ideas is the best. But, you have always thrilled me with all your choices in the past, so I am really interested in the 2008.

  16. The area of the Mississippi River is gorgeous expecially in the summertime. Water for fishing, cliffs for privacy and viewing Bald Eagles, closeness to shopping and entertainment. My vote would be for a gorgeous view of the Mississippi River from Iowa or Missouri. Maybe on the Missouri River. Must be water nearby. Central U.S. Needs a DREAM HOME!

  23. To Scripps! A Thank You… The big day is coming up so fast… Sunday! I can fill the energy surround us… this has been allot of fun… no doubt life can be full of sorrow… hope sometimes lost…

I come here to fcole’s blog and just let go for a moment or two of the reality of real life… be silly, delve into the treasure hunt… someone is really on cloud nine… or soon to be. If science could only bottle what these very blessed people will feel in that moment of sheer life altering to the depths of ones soul… cellular burst no doubt…

Only other comparison in my mind, heart, spirit, the very first time a mother holds and caresses her new born baby in her arms… this energy that captivates each of us… suddenly life begins to makes sense… a transition takes place… we become womanly… a nurturer a mommies kiss to the fore head of her precious Heavenly Gift… We are never the same ever! The love is so profound… those very few moment in our lives when we experience what it feels like to be truly grateful… blessed… over whelming emotion begins to overflow our hearts… true definition of Love…
Being so thankful there really are no words… a radiant light within each of us given at birth… from a mommies kiss to our forehead… that energy that radiant energy is passed on… which lives deep inside… sadly life’s suffering can drain us and dim our lights… this planet is blessed with many souls… so loving and giving with a touch a prayer a chance given to us through another’s generosity…. I want to take this time to say Thank You Scripps… HGTV Dream Home… I also know Scripps does so much in areas we have no idea the money donated to charities… all the people they employee research… truly they give back… without giving one second of self acknowledgement….

Scripps I see… words don’t need to explain… Your Bright Radiant Light Shines From Within… You could never hide it… the energy you spread is contagious… After this Sunday’s Grand Faunally… just seeing those winners… I too will walk away feeling the energy… my own lights shining brighter… Because you truly do make Dreams Come True!! Thank you from my family to yours! Charlotte, Zachariah, & Benjamin…

Now on that note… I still have six more days to flirt shamelessly with your adorable… Great Hire by the way!!! Jack Thomasson… My Moondoggy… just when you thought it was safe!! Ohhhh Moondoggy… you just make me get all disconbubbled! To be continued….

  29. My hometown is Chattanooga. After many travels around the world and nationally Chattanooga is definitely the most blissful place to live. The people are honest and have that home country love and the land is emontionally touching, the most beautiful city I have ever seen(Cape Town, South Africa may beat it). It would be MY dream to live there again in this Dream House!

Rebecca on March 27, 2007 at 10:46 pm
  30. HI, from Chattanooga Tennessee -middle valley / hixson tn near chester frost state park would be the best place to build a home it is a beautiful location has great schools and everything near by .Middle valley is the county so the taxs are lower most people around here don’t like driving on the mountain that is another reason MV/ hixson is better.

  31. Build the next Dream Home in a beautiful location BUT near enough to a city where there are jobs! The Islamadora Keys is slim to nothing for employment. Unless you already have a large next egg there is no hope to live in the home if you win it because you can’t relocate there and find a job.

Teri on February 13, 2008 at 5:42 am
  32. Likely somewhere in the Tennessee Valley region. That could be anywhere from East Tennessee, Alabama, or even Middle Tennessee. Great place to live and taxes are low (especially in Alabama). Lots of water. Good Folks. Slower way of life. I still like the house on Islamorada though. Hope my wife wins. She is ready to retire in July and would be a hoot to surprise her at work. That would be an interesting show. I enter the contest regularly also but I’m already semi retired and I think it would be impossible to ambush me. I think the wife would make for a great show. Anyway keep building the great houses.
