  1. I'm for either Lake Tahoe or Sedona would be a nice place as well. Any place in California would make me happy.

Christina on March 9, 2007 at 3:12 pm
  2. I took my first drive with my friend last year and we went to Nevada, New Mexico, and Arizona. It was cool this time of year but not freezing so it might be there.

However if our friend Jack's video is this time a year then it's really south.
Miami is warm this time of year..

But TEXAS, today it's 70 degree's.. hmmmm.. I THINK THAT IT'S Texas is my guess..
until another clue changes my mind.. the next clue..

Oooooh, they are sooo tricky… these HGTV,, gamers… and I think it exciting..

Thanks, for the fun HGTV.. its so much fun for use Thankds, Suzin

Suzin on March 9, 2007 at 6:50 pm
  3. FCole we thought you left us hanging for the Weekend….
So it is the South for sure. If you will not use the fireplace so much, it is a warm location. how about the AC? Bet you it will need that!

Valorie on March 9, 2007 at 5:51 pm
  4. AWWWWWWWW Man!!!! I thought it was in Alaska. Well, I wished it would be in Alaska. I’m gonna have to do some more research. And now that leaves my other guesses LAke Tahoe and Kansas. I hope I’m right.

Sandy on March 9, 2007 at 5:51 pm
  5. Oh, fcole..you are soo mean to us…time your clue posted says 8:38 am but you wait until 5:50 to actually put it out there….

Southeastern state, it is….South Carolina, Georgia, Florida….

Kathy on March 9, 2007 at 5:54 pm
  6. Hey, this means the home is in warmer climates. yeah!!

LynnJ on March 9, 2007 at 5:55 pm
  7. The lodge room led me to Washington state…plaid pillows as plaid shirts are worn a lot there…pears, miners or old west picture and tulips..however, you would be able to use a fire place there…so i am not looking at the other clues I noted…for one, the orchids on the coffee table, where would orchids, pears, tulips grow? The may not need a fireplace clue leaves me to southern California or Florida….however, that could also include Texas.there is a Buffalo, Texas. So, that’s where I’m at gang…can’t wait to read your takes on it. I love this game!

Kathy on March 9, 2007 at 5:57 pm
  8. I still think it is New Mexico as previously stated there is a site naturepointe.com it is simply wonderful. Check it out.

Sharon on March 9, 2007 at 5:57 pm
  9. I think the dream house will definately be in the Southern States……i am thinking Puerto Rico!!!
This home will vbe for the snowbirds, who will probably use thr home for vacation only. the South could be permanent home bur the Island would not be used as much????

Barb Stahl on March 9, 2007 at 5:59 pm
  10. So, a fireplace would not get much use in the DH’08 location. That makes me think more that it would be in the Southwest. Arizona, New Mexico or maybe Nevada….near Las Vegas if elevation would be a factor. The DH 07 is way above sea level…perhaps the DH 08 is below sea level…a different perspective? We’ll find out soon, won’t we….

Michele Calori on March 9, 2007 at 6:03 pm
  11. Now I really know it’s California. We wear shorts in December. I posted last week that Jack looked like he was in Napa Valley. Last week I was just at one the creeks that runs off of the Napa River and told my husband “this is where I want to build my dream house.” I’m toasting a glass to HGTV right now. Cheers everyone!!!

Becky on March 9, 2007 at 6:04 pm
  12. I heard a lot about the pears. Hey, pears are grown in California! (I think: I asked ASk.com)Lake Tahoe goes into California! You never know! It could be on the California side of Lake Tahoe! It could also be in Florida. I did some research and found some FYI’s on the Sunshine State.

    FYI: Florida

    Bird-MOCKING BIRD
    Flower-ORANGE BLOSSOM
    Animal-FLORIDA PANTHER
    Tree-SANDAL PALM
    Gem-MOONSTONE

Well, all we’d need as a clue to make sure it is Florida now would be a palm tree! =)

Lou on March 9, 2007 at 6:05 pm
  13. Hummm.. masybe it isn’t Michigan like I had hoped. maybe Arizona, New Mexico or Nevada. Well it seems it may be in the south anyhow.

Or maybe you just don’t plan on including an ottoman in the next DH.
    :) Heheheheh

zeydrajo on March 9, 2007 at 6:10 pm
  14. o.k. it still can be California..fcole has never taken Kansas off the game yet even though I questioned it being a clue since in the real game of scrabble you can’t use Capital letters or Proper Names.. I know it is their game…but rules are rules….

Eva on March 9, 2007 at 6:11 pm
  15. Oh yes, that means it’s going to be in warmer weather, no need for a fireplace. Yeah!!!

Lynn Jones on March 9, 2007 at 6:12 pm
  16. Fcole: I realize you already have 2008 set for the location. But, one of these years I’m going to win, and when I do, I really am hoping for a desert location, like Las vegas or Scottsdale.

Cece on March 9, 2007 at 6:12 pm
  17. Oh yes, that means it’s going to be in warmer weather, no need for a fireplace. Yeah!!!

Lynn Jones on March 9, 2007 at 6:12 pm
  18. They are the ORCHIDS again!!!
I’m almost sure it’ll be in FLORIDA!

    Orchid, Florida
    Florida Keys
Winter Park Florida? (different perspective, clue?)

Marivi on March 9, 2007 at 6:14 pm
  19. I’m starting to think that the new Dream Home is going to be in the state of Washington. I did some research and found out that Washington has some desnse forest. And the picture Jack was in was in a forest. Also, in the video clip he was in front of what looked like a beach, Washington is on the Pacific Ocean!
Also, from looking at the Office and seeing the painting, which is a Native American Warrior, painted red, it gave me the idea of “Redskins” and there is a team called the “Washington Redskins” hm….

Samy on March 9, 2007 at 6:17 pm
  20. Its gotta be in Northern California! Look at the wood he was sitting on. Thats gotta be here in California- Northern, California!

Micah on March 9, 2007 at 6:21 pm
  21. How clever, making us think it could be the Rembrandt book. Because there is a Rambrandt Charm Mftg.in Overland Park, Kansas. Kansas does get winters so you wouldn’t use the fireplace as much.I’m thinking of course in Florida you would rarely use a fireplace. Only 10 more days until we find out. How many more clues will we get?
I had thought that I had read in the beginning of the contest that they were giving away a Dog House each week, was I reading last years contest?

barbie on March 9, 2007 at 6:29 pm
  22. Definitely in Arkansas or Texas, I think?

Kim on March 9, 2007 at 6:32 pm
  23. Well with today’s clue, could be Florida…

Tammy on March 9, 2007 at 6:32 pm
  24. I have lived in Colorado from 1946 to present and yes the area where this home is will be great. My wife grew up in Gand County and I hunted and fished this area for years. This is not only a vacation area, but great to live in.
I would like to win this myself for not only me but for my family and friends to use.

    J A Burton on March 9, 2007 at 6:32 pm
  25. The lakes and hills in Arkansas, the natural state, are beautiful. One of the largest Marinas is near Hot Springs on Lake Ouchita (Wah-shuh-taw). The fishing is unbelievable, ask a pro.

JerBear on March 9, 2007 at 6:37 pm
  26. it could also be in San Diego, Ca.

Tammy on March 9, 2007 at 6:38 pm
  27. and we still have Texas….

Tammy on March 9, 2007 at 6:39 pm
  28. Next home in Shenandoah Valley, Virginia? Picture on end table shows family that looks like the McCoys. Werren’t they from there?

Mary on March 9, 2007 at 6:40 pm
  29. Oh Ambivalent One:

Here’s what I think, for what it’s worth.
HGTV will do it’s part to showcase the hurricane ravaged Gulf Coast. The home will be in Mississippi or Louisana. By building there they will create jobs and help to revive tourism.
    If I’m right….
It will Truly be a Dream House for many, not just one.
Oh yeah, and one of the charities for the tour should be Tipitina’s Foundation. It’s all about the music, baby.

Magnusassgen on March 9, 2007 at 6:44 pm
  30. Well I hope where ever it is I win it. Would love not to have a house payment anymore. HAHAHAHA!!!

Judy on March 9, 2007 at 6:54 pm
  31. Where ever it is I hope I win it. Would love not to have a house payment anymore. Good luck to all.

Judy on March 9, 2007 at 6:56 pm
  32. Need more info, please! :) You are leading us to it very slowly….could be Mammoth Lakes, CA. Could be NW CA area as mentioned before. Could also be near Mono Lake. However, the trails separate in Idaho. Hmmm….The CA trail goes through NV and back into Oregon. Hmm….

At this point, I’m still sticking with OR.

Devin on March 9, 2007 at 7:02 pm
  33. O.K., there were also bears in the bunkroom, so a bear is on California’s state flag and Catalina island has buffalo on it…in southern California, there’s definitely no need for a fireplace. Some the western decor depicts the old west. Well it could be just that: the West. And how much further West can you go than CA? I’m from Texas, but I lived in CA for a few months and I thought it was so beautiful in Temecula valley, but poor Californians pay so much to live there so it would be nice to have someone just GIVE you a house instead!

Sharla on March 9, 2007 at 7:02 pm
  34. Okay fcole, I’ll be the first to admit I’m a little more than out there! I heard that!!! LOL!

Fireplace-Meaning Heat? Or the LIGHT from the CANDLES and FLAMES?? It still could be ALASKA! HELP! Alaska Natives… what-when-how many months does it stay DAYLIGHT 24/7 in Alaska??? Pleaszzzz post and let us all know ASAP! I’m losing it!!!! LOL

Just when I started to adjust to Costa Rica… Island theme!

Leon, Ey & Eric… you guys! I’m blushing! ahhh Thank you! Canada Rocks!

Charlotte on March 9, 2007 at 7:08 pm
  35. Could the next Dream Home be in Kentucky???

pellis on March 9, 2007 at 7:16 pm
  36. Mankato, Beloit, Goodland, Montana, even at the base of Mt. Sunflower all would be a wonderful place for the Dream Home. Kansas is a beautiful state!

Rebecca on March 9, 2007 at 7:17 pm
  37. With so little clues to go on, my guess is Padre Island, TX.

Tamra on March 9, 2007 at 7:18 pm
  38. I should have went back to review, forgot Kentuckys’ out. Well that just leaves me wondering. Instead of getting easier, I think the clues are getting harder or I’m just looking so hard and their right under my nose!!. I’ll guess the Southern States. Maybe Alabama?

pellis on March 9, 2007 at 7:24 pm
  39. “Maybe not so much” The clue is VERY vague. When comparing to Winterpark – alot of States will not use their fireplaces nearly as much as Winterpark. I think the key here is not so much the temperature but the elevation. Maybe we should look for a place that is coastal with a very low elevation? Just a thought…

  40. I read on someone elses tour experience and found out some things around the house.

There was a bison picture in the front entrance

fake tomatoes, cherry apples, green onions, and green apples in the kitchen

picture of two birds:one looks like a Western Kingbird

picture of a young boy in a little car

    two or three canyon pictures

Maybe I’ll do some research to find out if these thinggs are found in one certain area. Good luck doing research yourself too. =)

Also, I think the DH08 will be in either Kansas or Lake Tahoe. But without useing any of the clues, I would guess either South Carolina. And now that the last clue means it will be somewhere warm, I’d say Florida.

  42. YEA!!! It’s the coast of Mississippi, isn’t it:) I just know that the greatest show representing the creativity and energy of the American people would go to the ravaged areas of the southern coast and help rebuild in an area hit by Katrina. A DH there from HGTV will invoke confidence again in those areas!!! PS: Am I right?

abiotchr on March 9, 2007 at 7:36 pm
  43. Okay, definitely the Florida Keys. I think it may be Key Largo.

Max on March 9, 2007 at 7:40 pm
  44. I AM THINKING NORTHERN NEVADA,LAKE TAHOE AREA, BEARS ARE PREVELANT A STRIP IS CLOSE BY AND WINTER IS ONLY A FEW MONTHS OF THE YEAR.OR MOUNT CHARLESTON, IN LAS VEGAS.HOWEVER THE TREES LOOK LIKE PUFFER LAKE IN BEAVER UTAH.OR BIG BEAR IN SOTHERN CALIFORNIA CLOSE TO VEGAS WARM MOST OF THE YEAR AND THE TREES LOKK EXACTLEY LIKE IT.

EVE JENSEN on March 9, 2007 at 7:42 pm
  45. Its in New Mexico I say!! Somewhere in the Sange De Cristo Mountains!! I dont care where in them, but its gotta be somewhere in them!

Andy on March 9, 2007 at 7:43 pm
  46. The flower on the table in the lodge room was the flower of new mexico,no need for fireplace there, but truley believe its Bradenton fl

Cathy Mclean on March 9, 2007 at 7:44 pm
  47. Kinzel springs ?

Brenda on March 9, 2007 at 7:59 pm
  48. I was leaning towards Washington or Oregon somewhere in the Columbia River Gorge, but it can get cold there and if you had a gas fireplace it would definitely get used.

One of the earlier clues talked about the interesting mirror in the lodge room. The thing I find interesting about the mirror is the reflection of the chandalier from the upstairs landing. It is made from an old Wine Barrel. There are many wineries all along the Columbia River Gorge. Northwest wines are becoming more and more popular.

With todays clue…Napa Valley might also be a prime candidate if you consider the chandalier. Napa has gotten some previous mentions and I think the winter weather is mild enough that you might use a fireplace “maybe not so much.”

Carol on March 9, 2007 at 8:00 pm
  49. Still staying with Washington :->
    Could be…

Pacific Beach, Washington is a beach side community, set between the Olympic Forests and the Pacific Ocean. It is the perfect place to enjoy everything that the Washington Coast has to offer. With spectacular beaches (one of the largest and longest in the world), ancient forests, 200 feet tall red clay cliffs, and breathtaking rivers, Washington Coast is truly a “secret” known only to a few and Pacific Beach, Washington shared amongst even fewer.

Welcome to Washington’s Best Kept Secret – Pacific Beach

Saundra on March 9, 2007 at 8:11 pm
  50. I’m staying with my first guess of Henderson, NV–for now…although there is a “coastal” clue and Kansas on the scrabble board.
