Present and Future HGTV Dream Homes
High in the Colorado Rockies, this feature in the Winter Park HGTV Dream Home will probably get a lot of use, many months of the year. In the next home, maybe not so much.

I live in Winter Springs, right next to Winter Park, FL… I think Winter Park, FL is a good guess. The backround is familiar…there is a beautiful chain of lakes there.
One of these could be DH08.
Alabama, arkansas, california, Mississippi, Missouri, New Mexico, Oklahoma, SC, Washington state.
OK folks how about New Jersey. We have mountains to the north and the great Jersey Shore for great ocean and bay views and the Delaware River Water gap for River folks!! Close proximity to NYC and Philadelphia…great history here and lots of great people!!Lots of nature (great birding/wildlike sites and beautiful parks) great schools (Princeton/Rutgers)Let’s here it for New Jersey!!Come on…let’s see a beautful home in NJ!
FCOLE,
WE ARE READY FOR OUR NEXT CLUE
Hello,
I noticed that you will “Giveway Home” ($100,000). I tried to get in your website but it won’t work. Please count me in?
Anyplace in TX, SD or CO.
I watch your HGTV lot. I would like to thank you for put the closed-captioned on the HGTV channel. I learned lot new thing about House, prices, and etc. It was pretty interesting.
Thank you,
Deafbear
Oh jack! You are a sneaky one. I was the one who said the Dreamhome was located at BULLWINKLE WAY, PINE Island, florida. I have gone back over the map of Pine Island. I have figured out your clues. If you drive on highway 767 thru Pine Island ,you will pass streets. All of your clues are street names. I think your last clue will be the street on Pine Island where the home will be located.
I just got into this, but with the clues so far, I'm guessing Florida or California. The scrabble board also reveals the word "coastal". The moose head throws us off, but I'm thinking it could be a school mascot!
Oh by the way Jack, I think the outlet on the wall, was meant to lead us to the outlet that drains into the everglades and gulf. It sits right next to Pine Island
My guess is Lake Havasu Arizona
ANYWHERE in the Carolinas would be great!!! But, Ya know, it almost doesn’t even matter WHERE it is…The houses are ALWAYS beautiful and ALWAYS on a beautiful lot!! It could be timbuktu, and it will STILL be gorgeous!!!!! That’s the direct result of all the time AND effort that goes into selecting the perfect location AND the perfect home….makes for an EASY adjustment for each winner!
I continue to sneak to the computer every chance I get to see it “fcole’s” given us another clue and to read the most recent posts… I was all for MICHIGAN and will stick with that until the Upper Peninsula of MI is eliminated. I believe Jack’s video could have been done last summer along one of the Great Lakes. If it’s not MI, many of the clues point toward a lake in ARKANSAS or along the Gulf of Mexico… definitely where the sand/soil is WHITE… not red, brown, tan… WHITE!! We’re waiting for this weeks first clue “fcole”…
My guess is Lake Havasu Arizona or maybe Albuquerque New mexico
New Mexico is the best place on earth with great views. The building crew won’t have that far to travel from winter park.
I want to say good luck to everyone out there awaiting the winning call or surprise. I honestly am so excited to see who the lucky one is. I just know God has a blessing in store for one of us. I am thinking about this mystery constantly, I love being a dreamhome detective, I feel like nancy drew I think. I am so excited about this dream home winners week. I have a childlike anticipation, it’s like Christmas, The anticipation, the mystery is so much fun, It’s so enticing to try to open the gift. It’s like shaking the gifts and trying to figure out which gift is inside. except you are convinced you think you know it (the 08 location). You have shaken it, smelled it, thought it through, dreamed about it, even tried ripping at the paper and tapes on the gift. But everytime you think you have figured it out someone catches you and you think you know the gift(dream home) is for you but there is no gift tag attached. Which is driving you even crazier. Knowingly it is for one of us. Hopefully, Now all we have to do is wait for Santa or hgtv. I still believe in Santa you know! “I’m the stocking full of dreams, thoughts, and hopes, for a new future”.
I’ve been thinking about the fireplace clue. “present and future hgtv dreamhome” It could mean the 08 home is in a state presently holding a dream home or that hgtv dreamteam are considering ideas the people have put forth for future homes. The fireplace it may not be used very much. That just means that the new location may not have as much winter weather as other areas. It doesn’t mean that there won’t be winter weather. The fire or fireplace it is a sign of warmth, excitement and memories like a bright future when contained. It’s also means disaster when out of control. But I still think its new york, or colorado. I do look forward to the next clue or elmination. This has been such a fun game I really have enjoyed it, thanks so much for all the knowledge and pass time you have given me. I wish this game could go on forever. I have no clue what I’m gonna pass my time with after this is over. I’ve enjoyed this so much. thanks again I truly love you guys. I watch hgtv all the time. When the kids are not watching cartoons that is.
Reading comments – sudden realization. I watched the video last week, so don’t remember clearly; but I’ve read blogs about construction starts. IF there is a basement in the DH08, start eliminating your southern states NOW. Reality folks. I’m still wishing for the Sunflower State. Even asked a local developer – found he’d just visited DH07 in the Mary Jane community in CO.It HAS been warm enough for shorts and sandals on some days here the fall/winter. We’ve had several record highs this winter and concrete footings and foundations have been poured all winter.
Ok, this is really difficult — there are sooo many beautiful places it could be. I originally thought San Antonio/Austin area of TX — don’t need a fireplace much – but is nice to have. Lots of golf courses, lakes for fishing — gulf coast is just a few hrs. away — but we already had a DH in Austin area — Lake Tyler…sooo, even though there have been 2 DH’s in FL I’m thinking somewhere in the panhandle of FL maybe near AL. Or, Southern CA — although the stones to Jack’s left look like they could be limestone (which is why my original guess was San Antonio or Austin — our “dirt” is limestone!). Of course, the northern part of AZ — Lake Havesu — fishing, golf courses etc. up there for recreation and I know it has to be near some really good fishing “holes” because of the fishing equipment clue! It’ll be fun to finally find out and begin start dreaming about my future home (if I haven’t already won the CO DH) — which would be nice since my son and his future bride plan to move to CO in 2008 — they’d be able to live in my house and take care of it and I can visit anytime I want…
Anyone got a tylenol! I got a headache. LOL :,) Its time for another clue.
I got sucked into this crazy conversation, so I’m going to make a guess. NW Arkansas is my first choice because the geography can be very flat (and sometimes sandy). There is a River Valley Orchid Works, lots of vineyards and wineries, a Buffalo National River (and Buffalo City), Washington County. I’m going to stab in the dark and say a community called Bella Vista near Fayetteville–a planned community close to the Ozarks, near lots of hunting, fishing, golf, close to big lakes further north, so skiing is also a possiblility–and there is an organic pear program in Fayetteville. Can’t wait until this over, so I can have my life back! CJ in NC
I’ve said it before. It is in Arkansas. Hot Springs to be exact.
Aright-ey… then! How about the Mariners!!
One of my favorites #2… Washington State! DH 2008
keep reading blogs hopeing for something to strike me but not finding anything. i am still with Kansas on the water near a highway but the gulf host i calling out to me.
i lived in florida for 8 years and the more i look at jack the more familiar the background looks.
i loved florida and hope to retire there. not only do i hope the 2008 dream home is there but i hope to win it.

The Colorado River, on the border of Calif and Ariz. It has trophy-sized trout fishing, and two states can be seen, if you’re living in the river or near it. That could be a different view out each window…Also, the “playing games outdoors” clue came to mind. I know when I was small, in Phoenix, they used to watch movies at the drive-in outside their cars, sitting on them or in lawn chairs at night. Or maybe near Lake Havasu. Not far from Las Vegas for fun and games! Being a native Californian, I still like the Sierra Nevada Foothills best tho!
Greetings fcole & fellow bloggers,
Happy Monday! I hope everyone is adjusting with the new time change and had some beauty rest last week-end.
HEYYYYYYY!!!!! LOU…To answer your Q, I am not from Lake Tahoe or Nevada but I frequently visit both place. I know that it snows yearly in Lake Tahoe and Reno. We get to ski whenever my family get the chance. Whereas in Santa Cruz, (we’re close to San Jose and San Francisco), once in a blue moon, the weather will get weird and we will get very thin snow. We have a fireplace that we seldom use. My friend lives in Oregon where they get a lot of snow every year. I don’t know if there are other part that doesn’t get snow in Oregon. HGTV already build a house on 2000 in Nehalem Oregon. I am not sure if they are going back there next year.

Yes, Lake Tahoe is part of California but it is bordering Nevada. Lake Tahoe is a marvelous, fantastic, beautiful place. There’s no word to describe it. For me, Lake Tahoe is one of God’s masterpieces. It’s a beautiful creation. You have to be there to appreciate it.
Charlotte, you are so clever and funny, thanks for always putting a smile on my face.
Aloha, thank you for sharing the ALOHA wisdom. The reason why I said Aloha means goodbye is because, Hawaii has been eliminated and many folks are still guessing Hawaii so, I said Aloha means goodbye already just for guessing Hawaii. Aloha to you and to mankind as well.
Jewels, did you copy and pasted my post? Your post looks familiar, I thought I send mine twice.
lol. Just giving you a hard time. If it helps, fine with me.
Now back to guessing game, If the clue is linked to this information I researched then my guess today will be Phoenix, AZ.
Hight Five Jeff! Let’s hope we’re right on target.

Five years ago, when Holland’s national art museum, the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, announced it would be closing for several years for renovations, Phoenix Art Museum set out to bring to the United States a selection of the finest accomplishments in Dutch 17th century art from the Rijksmuseum’s renowned collection. Now, the fruits of that collaboration and half a decade of hard work on both sides of the Atlantic come to Phoenix for all to enjoy and experience.
The Rijksmuseum is considered the national treasure of The Netherlands and houses the world’s most stunning and complete collection of 17th century Dutch painting and decorative arts. Rembrandt and the Golden Age of Dutch Art marks the first time an exhibition of this size from its collection will be presented in the United States, with 90 stellar examples of Dutch 17th century paintings, prints and sculptures, and a fine selection of ceramic, glass, and silver showpieces reflective of those shown in the paintings.

Thank you all for your contribution. I am enjoying this and learning from all of you wonderful folks. Happy guessing!
Shalom!
Shavanna,Georgia.
On the wall that lies behind the mirror is a outlet. Very strange place to put one.

Not at all, Wendy, that way you can plug in knick-knacks or Christmas lights on the mantel.
I think I’m going to wait for today’s hint before making another guess. My last guess was for Bay St. Louis, Mississippi.
I’m now thinking somewhere in Arizona or New Mexico. In Arizona maybe around Lake Powell, Canyon Lake or Roosevelt lake (all big fishing areas) and in New Mexico maybe near San Juan Lake or Ute Lake, or possibly Jemez Springs.
fabeulous
It would be nice to see the next dream home giveaway right along the Jersey Coast.
To Greg posted 3/11 8:51 PM: Sighhh Greg… sometimes there just aren’t words to describe what “fcole” means to me. However if I had to say one thing… fcole is one Dreamy Mcmoderator… Va Va Va Voom! Costa Rica!…Costa Rica!…la la la laaaaa! fcole anyone! Okay! Alaska/Washington remain tops. La la la La! Waiting for new clueuuuu. C’mon fcole loves everybody! Psssss! Greg be careful not to bet the farm on that statement of yours!LOL!
Hello Charlotte,
I prefer the Pacific northwest in all my travels and am a Washingtonian for sure….to answer you, I love the fishin, hunting, camping, hiking, weather (not severe)most aspects of Wash….don’t think you need a radar fish finder if you know where to fish…..and we have plenty of fish as you know….it helps to know the terrain….I lived in Alaska for four years and fished there as well so know alot about fishing…..It doesn’t come any bigger than Alaska…..great for most guys who love the sport….Kenai is one great spot…….Alaska amber beer is superb……the wild life unbeatable and terrain, well, it doesn’t get much better…..
More and more people are coming to the northwest and the climate here in Wash. is much like Holland with our rainy season…..but our summers are beautiful…..75% to 100% (not constant) for the latter…..and if you want to ski, its there……if you want to go boating, its here……..if you want country life, its here, Seattle is a gorgeous city with plenty of night life…..We have shops galore, many artists, museums etc…..its all here……hope GHTV considers this area……..
New Mexico would be my preferred place away from Wash…..There is so much beauty in many places and hard to decide where a new dream home should be…….Beauty of course is in the eyes of the beholder and we all have our own views (not to be funny) but you know what I mean……
I couldn’t get the audio but the wood he’s on looks like dock material to me, The rock looks like coral rock so California is out and I’m going with Key West Florida! Hurricane Proof!
LOL!!!!!!!!!!Wish I was that Eric but you got the wrong guy……blush blush sweet Charlotte….but it sounds like you had fun………Sweeeeeeeeeeet.
Key West Florida! The only city in the country that has never had a frost!
Hi Charlotte,
No, I’m not snowbirding yet but know people who do and its a great idea…..a nice change in scenery part time is great….Irish, Italian, indian…….that’s a folatile mix but sounds passionate about most things in life….you stay with what you believe in…that’s loyalty and true……Forty hours a week is tooooo long…you could use a vacation for about a month or so…LOL!…..you were kind enough to give me your astro….. aries w/sag. rising…from my studies and charts that were done professionally, there is Pisces there as well……I’m a european transplant…….Wash. Canada, Alaska, yeah….if not, then border on Utah, Nev. and Idaho….GO HGTV………Good luck to the winner of the dream home…..
I’m confused…the last post was by me at 9:09am has everyone else stopped posting or are they just waiting for another clue?
There is a place in AZ called Buckeye as well.
There is a Kansas Park in Southern California. My vote is California because of the bears, wine, pears, tomatoes… if theres a clue with avocados its gotta be a for sure thing.
Isn’t it about time for a new clue fcole? Sure hope so! I have about worn out my options with the older clues but it sure is fun researching and reading all the posts! Looking forward to our next clue!
NO need to eliminate all southern states because of a basement. I have lived in Alabama, Tennessee, North Carolina, and Virginia. We had basements in each state.
Gretchen, People in the southern states have basements. I have lived in Alabama, Virginia, Tennessee, and North Carolina.
Had basements in each place! I have even seen a basement in Florida!
Time for next hint plzzzzzzzzz
Since so many want it in their own state here is a suggestion…maybe in 2009 there could be a drawing before it’s built and the winner could pick the building site? And maybe HGTV viewers could vote daily from the winner and designer/builder’s choices in different aspects of the house. We could decide on a pool or kitchen cupboards or flooring, etc. Making it a DH the homeowner could actually keep as one comment said earlier and still a Dreamhome!
Hmmm…. I’ve been watching these posts carefully and I think I see a pattern here…… It seems that each clue closes one door just to open another and keep us guessing!
Last year we, of course, had the beautiful mountain cabin in Colorado. Before that a nice, peaceful retreat on a lake in Texas, before that, another place on the water in GA….. I’m going to have to guess they are going to do something quite different this time. I’m thinking Florida…. There are no mountains (I’ve heard the tallest point in the state is a roller coaster!), many lakes, lots of water, and lots of entertainment. Perhaps a beautiful beach house in the Florida Keys? Wouldn’t THAT make for a great home!
Looking at the video posted the trees we can see behind him suggest a lot of sun and not too much rain (tall and skinny). Being on the Keys would give a very different perspective on things with water everywhere.
Anyhow – those are MY two cents…..
it’s new york or oregon, I think Please give me a new clue or elimination. Please pretty pretty please now I sound like my 2year old another cookie ease!!!!!!!!!!!! the wait is nearly driving us all nutty. oh yes where is my matters , thank you for the new clue. I love you…..
