The comments have ranged from poetic odes to a sophisticated computer analysis of the clues, but the following states are not getting the next HGTV Dream Home.
Vermont
“How bout an old fashioned farmhouse overlooking the beautiful Lake Champlain in the mountains of Vermont?”
“I believe the 2008 Dream home will be in Beecher Falls, Vermont, home of Ethan Allen Furniture and Ethan Allen the Vermont Woodsman.”
Oregon
“My guess is Oregon. It has beautiful mountain views and plenty of great fishing.”
“Oregon coast, crashing waves, picturesque coastal scenery, rugged cliffs, impressive sand dunes and vast sandy beaches.”
Alaska
“I think the next location for HGTV dream home is going to be Alaska. It is truly a mirror looking back at you, with its beautiful cool blue and white eyes, full of interesting things, outstanding fishing, and land that never loses its ‘wow’ factor.”
Minnesota
“From the clues, Bullwinkle-like moose and ‘Don’t Look on Rocky Top’, it could be Minnesota. Rocky and Bullwinkle live in Frostbite Falls, which is a parody of International Falls, Minn.”
“Near the Twin Cities in Minnesota, overlooking the beautiful St Croix River.”
“Minnesota is known as the North Star state (like the star in the garage). It has great scenic byways, fishing, trails, snowmobiling, golf and canoeing just to name a few.”
Michigan
“I think Michigan’s Upper Peninsula would be a beautiful place to live. The fish and wildlife, the spectacular scenery, people who leave there always want to go back to the peace and serenity.”
“I think Torch Lake, Mich., is just as beautiful as Hawaii and no volcanoes to blow you up!”
“The lodge room mirror is very cool. It eliminates both Alaska and Hawaii. Our computer programmers took every letter from the mirror and wrote them out and inscribed them into a simple computer program to analyze the letters. We did not come up with the letters for either state. We did find Michigan numerous times. We are now certain it has to be Michigan.”

I would like to see the 2008 Dream Home come to Alabama. That would make more sense than anywhere. You don’t get any prettier land than in AL. I would even like to win it. I don’t know of anybody that could use it more than I with what I have been through the past several years. Thanks for listing to me. Frances
Florida
I think you sould consider Magalia or Paridise,
California. Beautiful places and nice communities.
You really need to build it in Branson Mo. On Tablerock. Or anywhere in AR.
I believe 2008 Dream Home is in N.Carolina,S.Carolina,Georgia,Fla.,Miss.,Ala.,La.,The only clue that confuses me is the salmon,so I am just assuming it is just showing how you can grill all the fish you catch fly or rod fishing in the warm climate all yr. round with no use for a fire place, etc. Noel
I Think Tennnessee over looking the beautiful mountains or lakes no better place than ROCK TOP TENNESSEE.
Still hoping for GATLINBURG, TENN.
i think the hgtv dream home 2008 schould be in north carolina!
Pawley’s Island SC is the place for a dream home, it would be perfect!
I THINK THE HGTV DREAM HOME WILL BE IN MAINE AROUND MOOSEHEAD LAKE 3-19-2007 PATRICIA
I thought I had entered my choice of
Hilton Head South Carolina.But I don’t
see it listed.
From what I’ve gathered after going through the clues today (Mar 20), they all appear to be pointing towards the deep south. And after watching the video in which Jack Thomasson appeared in, my guess is Louisiana, with the background showing the bayou or marshland.
P.S. It will be nice if the HGTV Dream Home team give out cash prize for the correct guess.
Any chance of a HGTV home in Indiana? Warsaw, Indiana is the orthopedic capitol of the world……but I feel more affection for the area because of the numerous lakes in the area. We are an oasis of jobs and the corn around here feeds the world!
I THINK THE NEXT DREAM HOUSE SHOULD BE IN BEAUTIFUL, NEW HOPE, PENNSYLVANIA. NEW HOPE IS A QUAINT LITTLE TOWN WITH CAFE’S AND CUTE LITTLE SHOPS NETS TO THE DELAWARE RIVER. IN THE SUMMER THERE IS WATER TUBEING, SKIJETS, BOATING, FIHING AND SWIMMING IN THE RIVER. THER ARE GREAT TOW PATHS FOR BIKING AND JOGGING. THERE IS A BEAUTIFUL LAKE IN BUCKS COUNTY PENNSYLVANIA AS WELL, BY NOCAMIXEN STATER PARK. IT’S JUST BEAUTIFUL. THERE ARE HORSE AND BIKE TRAILS, SWIMMING, CAMPING, BOATING, FISHING, AND PINIC AREAS, AND THE PARK HAS A PUBLIC 1000 FOOT OLYMPIC POOL. A TRULEY BEAUTIFUL PLACE TO LIVE. IT’S ONLY HALF HOUR FROM THE FAMOUS DOYLESTOWN AND AN HOUR FROM THE FAMOUS CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, WHERE THERE ARE RESTARUANTS, THEATERS AND MUSEUMS. WHAT A GREAT PLACE! I HOPE THE NEXT DREAM HOME IS IN PENNSYLVANIA
Whashington State would be my guess
Georgia has got to be the place. That’s where I want to be.
I had another thought, I”m now thinking maybe this year’s home could be in Hawaii? This would be sweet! Please let me know; Bye again;
Carrie
Well, I’ve reviewed all the clues..AGAIN!! I think the 2008 DH is going to be in the hills of San Francisco, overlooking the bay. Oh, boy would that be a beautiful spot! I want to win that!!
I have been entering for a couple of years now to win a home. As you know I have not. I believe the next one will be in California but I do have to say what is wrong with the GREAT STATE OF PENNSYLVANIA we have beautiful mountians and great lowlands in our state. We have lakes and streams. Why are we always overlooked?
I think the Dream House should be in the state where freedom all began ,MASSACHUSETTS and the city should be the quaint port called NEWBURYPORT. Massachusetts Patriots gave us our freedom and now let’s give someone the freedom of their own DREAM HOME in NEWBURYPORT MASSACHUSETTS.
With all the beauty that I saw I beleive it to be Hilo Bay in Hawaii
I THINK SEATTLE,I HOPE IM RIGHT
