Five Big Favorites Taken Out
All right, we’ve been hearing a lot of comments for the next HGTV Dream Home to be located in one of these states. I’m here to tell you today, it’s not going to happen.
Arizona
“The next HGTV Dream House should be in Sedona Arizona which is the most beautiful place on earth. Sweeping mountains and pines in every direction. A very healing place to live.”
Arkansas
“Flippin, Arkansas! It’s on Bull Shoals Lake, 76 miles into Missouri, and it’s in the Ozark Mountains, close to Branson, Missouri. Great place for fishing and hunting.”
Nevada
“Outside of Las Vegas. Warm, dry and beautiful. Desert and mountain views, what more could you ask for?”
New Mexico
“I Think Santa Fe, New Mexico, would be the place to put your next Dream Home. The temperatures are mild in the winter in most places, you can enjoy the snow and it’s not to hot in the summer so you can enjoy the outdoors.”
New York
“What about Long Island, New York. The Hamptons, Fire Island or Sag Harbor. It’s a one-hour ride to New York City and Broadway, or just hang at the beach. The best of all worlds.”
And we’ve got major news coming next week: Check back Monday!

dh 2008 is in georgetown, deleware pick me
I hope the bloggers are incorrect about RiverSea Plantation. I could never live in a planned, gated community entitled “plantation.” Too much baggage, too much history for all of us(probably mostly white) to ignore. So many beautiful areas of the coastal southern US are being developed with more socially correct names and purposes. As an example, developers have ruined Daufuskie Island and are rubbing the residents’ noses in it by calling many of their communities plantations and pretending to do the island’s history/residents a favor. HGTV and the developers need to be thoughtful and politic in this new century by avoiding such loaded monikers.
This blog certainly makes for interesting reading and has given me many examples to use in my classes in discussions of argumentation and research strategies (some excellent arguments made in favor of several states), culture (how people react to such a large, life-changing possibility–and how they act when they don’t win), and grammar/usage of the English language.

Well once again the leave us hanging. Can we list anything they have done right this year when it comes to the 2007 and 2008 Dream Homes? What a way to run this. One mess up after another–promise after promise broken. esure know how to irrate people who are trying to give them the benefit of a doubt. What a way to win friends and influence people—–NOT
Get on with it already–I know my patiences are wearing very thin now.

I was watching all the beautiful area on HGTV last night and these were really nice and fitting for a new home….They were Charlotte’sville- Virginia, Stowe-Vermont, Minneapolis-Minn….
A very pretty community area would be Lake Geneva, Wisc…..Yes, Savannah-Georgia would be nice also from a blog I was reading…also Rhode Island, New Jersey, Maryland, Maine…..Well, that’s all for now…..Have a great day bloggers.
Well, there is most of New England still open: Pennsylvania
Delaware
Massachusetts
Maine
Maryland
Rhode Island
New Jersey
Connecticut, then there is
North Carolina
South Carolina and
Virginia are still an option, as well as
Nebraska
Iowa
Illinois
Utah and
Wyoming. The southern States of
Texas
Florida
Georgia
Louisiana and
Alabama are also remaining options. That’s some 21 States total, unless I’ve missed quite a few blogs. As some of these locations already have a HGTV Dream Home, that leaves us with about 13 sites to chose from.
Chicago sits on a sizeable, beautiful lake and parts of Virginia are situated on the Atlantic, either of these two locations would be extremely viable. I have a horrible feeling Jack was standing in a more humid State in the video clip, a place with large mosquitoes. Don’t ask me why, just a feeling…more clues, please, we’re not ready to give up yet! Where ever the 2008 HGTV Dream Home is situated, I’m quite certain we all would move there in a skinny minute if we won!
Danielle and Trista~ It was wonderful to see your love of Lock Haven. I agree that Water Street and Susquehanna Ave. are beautiful but we left the area due to the poor education, high taxes and overall poor conditions. Lock Haven would NOT be a good area to build a dream home. The surrounding areas of Pine Creek or the Valleys etc. The houses/govt. housing would depreciate the value of a dream home and most winners can’t afford to keep it and no one would be able to afford the home when put up for sale. My husband and I grew up there and went to school. I went to private school and then we both went to LHHS. My husband attended LHU and grew up in Flemington. All of our children were born at Lock Haven Hospital so our knowledge of the area is life long. My family moved me there when I was a small child from Long Island to give us a better life and it WAS a great place to raise children. It is such a depressed area now!! Although its sweet to see your hometown pride it WOULD NOT be a great dreamhome area. We built a house still close but out of KCSD. In the Valley areas you would have to be immune to the smell of horse/cow/chicken feces. LOL
How about San Diego, California. Something with Coastal views, maybe in Carlsbad, Del Mar…?
i think the hgtv dreamhouse will be in louisiana
I think the dreamhouse will be in Charleston SC!!!
Charleston is sooo charming. Besides, I am a true “Southern Belle” and really love HGTV.
Would love to see it in Florida, especially in northern Pinellas County. It’s beautiful here!
A great place for a dream home would be near one of the Great Lakes. I live on Lake Erie and a town known as the “Walleye Capital Of The WOrld”. Boating and fishing are big around here. THere’s a huge amusement park near-by in Sandusky — I think it has about 13 roller coasters and they are continuously building more. AMish country is not too far from this area. Another great place is along the shoreline in WEstern Michigan. They have beautiful beaches, great fishing and boating too. All around the Great Lakes are historical lighthouses for the many enthusiasts. I grew up in Conn. and moved here to Ohio 13 years ago. IT’s really a lovely place to live.
i think it will be in either virginia because there is a lot of natural beauty towards the west or the dream home could be in connecticut because i didn’t see that state taken off the lis yet. so we’ll see, plus i’m from va, so i would like it to be in va.
The hgtv dream home 2008 should be built in Virginia, ( Natural beauty towards the west) I live in virginia, it’s nice and quiet. Or another place, Ilove the south but if i won a free house in the north and freezing temperatures, it would have to be connecticut. it’s supposedly beautiful there too. Also that was not on the list yet. it’s plausible.

ISLAMORADE,FLORIDA
is looking good for the Dream Home of 2008.
Florida Keys…Beautiful…
OOOOPPPPS.
Last letter of City should be an A not E..
Meant…. ISLAMORADA, FLORIDA
Just throwing my guess into the mix. How about the Quiet Corner of CT. It is a great place to live. This is a 10 town area in north west Ct. About 50 miles from Boston and 50 miles from NYC and for beach lovers and easy drive to the shore. The towns in the quiet corner are New England at it’s finest.
How about the dream home for 2009 being located on Mackinac Island, Michigan. Lovely, lovely island in the northern United States. Beautiful scenery and peaceful.
I think the next HGTV home should be located in the beautiful Santa Ynez, CA Valley. Warm weather, beautiful scenery, great wine country, and 30 minutes from lovely Santa Barbara, CA, right on the Central Coast of California!!
TO ME I THINK ONE NICE PLACE WOULD BE HERE IN MISSOURI, AROUND BRANSON. YOU HAVE THE LAKES THE MOUNTAINS,A DOWN HOME PLACE SET BOTH IN OLD TIME AS WELL AS NEW. SIVER DOLLAR CITY, BRANSON, TABLE ROCK, WHAT BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY
I think it should be in Taos, New Mexico or Lake Tahoe, Nevada.
We sure would appreciate your building a home on the Mississippi Coast. Maybe two smaller homes that the winners could afford to retain and pay taxes on. The publicity would be good for the economy and tourism as well. And it would give your architects a challenge; abiding by the new “height above ground” rules and building hurricane-wind resistant homes. Come on Down! We have sunshine, blue skies, white beaches (especially since Katrina) and great seafood. and most of all you will be WELCOMED!!
How in the world could you pick Florida? There are so many more beautiful places in the U.S.Also, You should build a home the average person can afford. Who can afford the taxes and upkeep on such a place?!!! Just my thoughts– which I’m sure you don’t really care about anyways!!
A home in Myrtle beach SC on the water would go over big
Why not Hawaii? Are there any rules that say the HGTV Dream Home has to be in the contiguous 48? I live in Florida, but would loooove to live in Hawaii.
Hawaii should be the next place for a new Home as it is a beautiful state and the homes here are very expensive.
Place a home on beautiful Bailey Island, Maine. You can’t get a more buccolic background!
coastline in maine is the most beautiful. what a place to retreat too and safe, and an awesome place to live.
Why not Hawaii? The Big Isle to be precise. It’s got all the climates, plus, even when you have snow you can still surf on the warm beaches.
A Dream House on the Atlantic in beautiful Victorian Cape May would make anyones dream come true.
Check out Mooab, Utah. Gorgeous scenery and an adventurers paradise. Hiking, biking, white-water, etc.
So, okay, that part of Florida is lovely and it’s fine with me. But SOME day it would be nice to see one built in the Smokies around Gatlinburg. The views from an elevated site just couldn’t be beat!
How about the Northern Neck of Virginia, between the Potomac and Rappahannock Rivers on the Chesapeake Bay. Land prices are still almost affordable and small towns are charming. Good access to nearby airports.
What about Virgin Island – St. Thomas? This island has the most pristine beaches, warm weather, and crystal-clear waters — it also has the most culturally diverse, ethnically rich, and artistically vibrant society in the tropics. I have been in this island about four time and if I have a chance I will go back again. Not only it is a very beautiful but his people are very friendly.
The next dream home should be in Las Vegas,it is so beautiful there… Thank you HGTV for these wonderfull sweepstakes! Alda Fiedler———Nevada.
I think the next Dream Home should be on Whidbey Island in Washington State or on an Island in the San Juans, Washington.
Beautiful Islands and the perfect spot for a dream home to be built.
I have found the perfect spot. It is hidden in Pueblo West Colorado. Naturally lanscaped with views you cannot believe. You can see the snow in pikes peak colorado springs. The whole range just pans out with beautiful Rocky Mountains. Only 45 minutes away North to Colorado Springs,
and to the East 10 minutes away from a Mall. And only 20 minutes away from the Mountains….just unreal. I forgot to mention that Lake Pueblo is South 15 minutes away. Anyone that would see this prime place would immediately fall in love with it. Also 5 minutes from the main Highway, but so hidden away in the trees. That is where I would build my Dream Home.
I think that the Dream Home should be in South Carolina or North Carolina.
i wanted to enter my mommy in a surprise contest.we have 4kids and a dogs and a working mom. we live in such a small house.i was sondering. if u could remodle or re-due our house. it wouldn’t take much $ or time. we got a small house. She has dreamed of having a house with her own little library. she loves to read. and a own room. that would be nice too. i have to share a room with her. and we dont have much money too. please help and do this for my mommy.
I wanted to enter my HGTV Dream Home perfect spot. It’s Right where I live, in a little state called Rhode Island. It is located in the top right corner of the United States. We may be small and we don’t have the snow peaks and hills like in Aspen or Alaska. Don’t think, we don’t have are share of snow storms. As for Florida, Hawaii, and there Islands; the beautiful sun and great beaches; we do have these in Rhode Island called Narragansett, Newport and other beaches. As for our Island, this is called Block Island it just the greatest place. We have lots of fun, food and entertainment. The people here are reliable , helpful, nice and trust worthy. I love to travel when I can, but coming home is the greatest perfect place in the world to me and I would love to have a dream home here where my family and friends live.
