HGTV Dream Home 2008 Location: We’re Going to the Florida Keys!

We know we missed the deadline, but we said we’d make it up to you and we hope we can! The O’Neills going on the Oprah Winfrey Show was not part of the unforeseen circumstances that prevented us from revealing the location when we had originally planned. An HGTV Dream Home is a very complicated project, and unexpected delays meant we had to hold off on the announcement until this week.

But today we’ve got three exciting new HGTV Dream Home videos on the site. You can get a glimpse into the hectic schedule the O’Neills faced in the days after winning the HGTV Dream Home. Then, go along as Bob and Lorie visit the Winter Park home for the first time and get a guided tour from house planner Jack Thomasson and designer Linda Woodrum. Finally, and best of all, ride along with Thomasson as he cruises the Florida Keys and shows off the location for HGTV Dream Home 2008.

  7. I attempted to post on the message board last year on the 2007 HGTV Home but had little success accessing the board. Congrats to the O’Neills. I noticed that the official rules indicated that the family was previously notified before it was on t.v. I still put my lipstick on as mentioned on t.v. waiting for the knock (lol).

The Albright looks absolutely beautifully nestled amoungst seven other absolutely lovely homes in the exclusive waterfront community. Florida is a beautiful place with the white sands, clear aqua waters, sunsets, steep pitched roofs, sailboats, kayaks, dolphins & fish! Who won’t want to build another home in such a beautiful state. Besides the sun, there are so many great attractions in the state (Theater of Sea Marine Park). I haven’t personally visited the southern most part of Florida to which Islamorada is located but it does sound strickingly breathtaking!

Mr. Johnson, Mr. Pruett, and Mr. Uhre are wonderful to have the ability to provide such beauty in their developments. I take special interest in the pool that is outlined by the botanical landscape and the brick walkway that leads to the home. The road lined with trees (palm?) to reach the homes destination captivates the GRAND appeal that this home deserves!

I’ve read some other comments posted and would like to mention that other states have natural disasters and other harsh weather conditions too. I have two brothers who have lived in Florida for many years and they have avoided the disasters of the hurricanes by temporarily relocated until the storm (huricane) passes.

HGTV you are doing a great job and that is why we are all here blogging in support of the home giveaway!

  8. Jack,

It looks as though you are enjoying yourself in that Great Vechicle while soaking up the sun. The weather looks beautiful and sunny. I love to see palm trees in the background of your vlog. I’m from Michigan, no palm trees here! :(

By the way, love the location and I can’t wait too see some pictures of the development. I hope a clip will be provided along the way to make it fun for us bloggers!!!

  10. You are going to build a poured concrete home on stilt aren’t you??? I hope so! You have to be above flood plain and hurricane proof to last down here. We have a total concrete place by MM89 and stayed in it during the hurricane in 2005,(very exciting indeed) and no damage! We checked out the site and can’t wait to watch it be completed and enter to win.

  14. The only place I have been in Florida was Walt Disney World with my four boys when they where small (in the summer of 1997), since then I have not been back. Now that i have my grand-daughter, I would not mind winning this lovely dream house in a such a beautiful area that makes me home sick when i see it, because it looks so much like Puerto Rico with all the beautiful Palm Trees.

  15. I love the Florida Keys, and I always go to founders park’s pool which has two amazing diving boards, and a huge skate park. The beach there is also faboulous and I use to tan under the tiki hut that the dream home lot is on. I hope I win this house because it can be used a lot.

  19. I NEVER GOT THE CHANCE TO ENTER THIS GREAT OFFER OF GUESSING THE DEADLINE OF THE WHEREABOUTS OF THIS GREEN HOUSE, AS I WORK MOST OF THE DAY & INTO THE NIGHT TIME AND DON’T GET A CHANCE TO WATCH T.V.. I LOVE WATCHING THE SHOW WHEN I DO GET THE TIME THO, BUT MY GUESS WOULD HAVE BEEN PANAMA CITY, FLORIDA. OH WEEL, MAYBE NEXT TIME? MY SON JUST BOUGHT HIS FIRST HOUSE & IT SURE COULD USE SOME FIXIN-UP, BUT I’LL JUST BE HAPPY IF HE GETS TO PAY IT OFF IN TIME FOR THE SAKE OF HIS FAMILY, WOULD HATE TO SEE HIM LOSE IT DUE TO BEHIND IN A PAYMENT. WE HAVE SO MANY PLANS ON FIXIN LOTS OF THINGS OVER & WE WATCH THE SHOW TO GET GOOD IDEAS! WHEN HE HAS THE TIME, HE GETS ON YOUR WEB SITE & SURFS AROUND THERE TOO. GUESS HE’S AFRAID HE’LL MISS SOMETHING IF HE DOESN’T DO BOTH THE T.V. SHOW & WEB SITE. NEXT TIME YOU HAVE ANOTHER HOUSE TO GIVE AWAY PLEASE SEND ME AN EMAIL, NOW THAT YOU HAVE IT. SOME OF YOUR OTHER SWEEPS. HAVE IT TOO, I’M SURE. WELL TAKE CARE & GOD BLESS!

  24. Hello, HGTV is my favorite station! I think they are also blessed with many talented people. My favorite show being color splash. I am a full time artist who has been entering to win last years home and this years work of art. Hoping to win the dream home for more space to paint, a place to share with my brother who is a cancer survivor and to give my 95 year old granny a special home to spend her retirement. Am also interested in finding work in the florida keys as an artist who specializes in nature and wildlife! Good luck to everyone! I am sure the Lord will bless whomever is meant to win!

  25. HGTV, you have chosen GREAT locations for the the dream homes, but there is one place you can NOT MISS! The Catskill Mountains near Albany NY. I used to live near, and BOY WERE THOSE MOUNTAINS A MILLION DOLLAR VIEW! Now, I know you have most recently built the 2007 dream home in Winter Park, Colorado, but there is a beauty about the Catskill mountains.
