Monica Pedersen Video: Decorating an HGTV Dream Home
Greetings From Islamorada! We’re in the Florida Keys this week, taking about a zillion pictures of the latest HGTV Dream Home for the online tour. Here’s a short video of designer Monica Pedersen shot earlier, talking about creating the master suite decor that you voted on earlier this year.
Keep checking back this week, we’ve got a couple more sneak previews coming up. We’ll share a photo taken this week showing the view from the front of the home, plus I’ll explain why the folks at The Shore at Islamorada named this house the “Albright”.

Im sorry, but I am disappointed in this years dream home. The colors are very gaudy and harsh, not soothing at all for a home located in a beautiful setting.Even the outside color is not very appealing.I do not understand why these harsh colors were used…sorry but that is my view point. Why were there two beds in several of the bedrooms and the childrens bedrooms on a different floor than the master. It seems dangerous with little children…Clora
Hey everyone, the house rocks! Who cares about the colors and decor, if you win and you dont like it then change it!!! I think the colors and decor are great for the location of this house. It is on the water and it is a beautiful house to me and I know that is just my opinion, but usually my opinion matters because I am a decorator. Everyone likes what they like and thats what makes them who they are so if you dont like it change it. That is what puts fun in decorating! HGTV cant please everyone so take it for what its worth and go with it!!!
If you go to the on-line virtual tour, click on the wall of the master bedroom where the indicator is, it will pop up the color of the paint.
I just love everthing about the house you guys did a wonderfull job. I hope to be a winner I’m a big fan of HGTV It would be a dream come true for this single mother of two. Thanks again for the tour. When my daughter saw the house she just got so excited she also loves all the colors and design.
Monica is not very good on designed to sell at all but we put up with it sad to say she did a bad job on this master bed it is the worst master in HGTV dream home History.Enough blue already it looks a county in witch does suite the homes in the Keys
at all. Sorry she just don’t fit the bill at all
.Monica decorated the master and that was enough but why let her host the show and kill the mood of watching the new dream home. She had already ruined the Master Suite and it was a disgraceful shame and WHERE IS JOAN!!! We miss Joan’s warmth and the love that she put into hosting the HGTV Dream Home SORRY!!

Wow, I could not disagree more with the previous post. I tune into “Designed to Sell” to see if Monica is on, and if she isn’t I might turn it off, unless Clive is doing something funny, even though I like Lisa and Tanya.
I think Monica is magnificent. I love her designs because they are so “real,” which is to say, they are attractive, economical, and they convey a sense of class and dignity to a space.
To me, she is the perfect host for the “HGTV Dream Home” because Monica herself is exotic, beautiful, talented, and worthy of a dream.
You read it here first: If I win the house, I’m going to invite Monica and her family (all expenses paid) back to the house to meet my family. We’ll take some group photos, I’ll ask her to sign the walls in her favorite room, and then the “HGTV Dream House” dream will be complete.
I love love the look of the house in the Keys
I like the open fresh clean look and the three
stories. What more could a princess and her prince want. I
I would like to know who makes the bedding for the master bedroom in the 2008 Dream Home. Thanks
In the beginning of the show they say that the house sleeps 10. I only see beds for 8 (2 in the kids room, 2 in the sitting room, 2 in the guest room and 2 in the master suite). There are also only 8 place settings at each table. I think they made a mistake…please correct this.
The design of the inside of this dream home is dissappointing to say the least. There does not seem to be any continuity – either in color or in furniture. Looks like leftovers from a college age kids place – the mauve dining room chairs leftover from Mom’s 1990 dining room, the 4 poster bed from grandma, and the office color from the fire station’s lime green firetruck. Please choose a design theme for the next house that coordinates colors. The beach bedroom would have been a good theme for this house.
If I won I would love to meet Jack, Linda and Monica in person. They are so talented and sweet. I would probably cry tears of joy.
i just looked at the artis drawing OH MY GOOSSH THAT HOME IS JUST ALL OF MY DREAMS IN A HOME
