WOW, that is truely a DREAM home! the , that is the kind of house I always dreamed of…what a great place for a my family 2 be in!!!LOVE IT LOVE IT!!!!!!
This home looks wonderful. I live in Florida but would love to live in the keys. This house is perfect for livin’ the Florida Lifestyle..
I wish everyone good luck…, but I really hope it’s me that wins..(too selfish huh?)
Lovely, but from a practical point of view I was a little disappointed. While I’m certain the weather is conducive to wearing little clothing I found there was very little closet space with no closet at in the kid’s room. (Unless of course I want to use the fishing closet down the hall) And AHEM! I wasn’t too keen on having the wine cellar on the same floor as the kids room either. 2 bathrooms? Where do the kids go? (In the fishing closet? Hey I’m hanging clothes in there!) I really would have liked to have seen the inside of that pantry in the kitchen. I’m gonna have neighbors? Where are my blinds then? Hey! What kind of community is this anyway?
This house is amazing! thanks HGTV for giving everyone a chance to win this!! i know my family certainly deserves it; although i am sure others do too. ITS DECORTAED AND DESIGNED PERFECTLY!! a great style i LOVE the hgtv dream home 2008!!! my favorite so far of all the houses!
Its a beautiful house close to the ocean. I hope who ever wins the house enjoys the weather, but also there dreamhome. Thank you HGTV, AND KEEP IT UP.
I meet my one true love, later in my life, but he is the soul mate!! We now look forward to spending the rest of our lives together… waiting to retire! I would not imagine a more beautiful home to do so!! Being a CA. girl, I would be right at home on beach front home, with a very tropical breeze blowing up from the ocean… My husband & I just love the house so much, we see our selves their with our family and friends just enjoying, such a beautiful & wonderful home together forever… best of luck to everyone, what great home form HGTV, whoever wins!!!
I can hardly wait until you come surprise me! I keep telling everyone I’m moving and they just laugh. But this truely is MY dream home!
beautiful place for love
This Dream Home is beautiful and they did a wonderful job on the furnishings and decorating of this home. I think their use of color, fabrics, and materials really brought the beautiful landscape indoors. I try to enter every day and when I showed this house to my small children they both said “Wow”! My daughter noted that it was “pretty” and my son said, “I would be so excited to live in that house”. I hope we win the Dream Home, but even if we don’t, I hope the person that wins it will love it and keep up it’s beauty. Goodluck to everyone entering!
My family is being transferred to MA this summer and I’ve lived in balmy Georgia my whole life. It sure would be nice to have some place warm to escape to with my four kids and three legged dog…Yes, this is my sympathy plea!
We were in Key West last week and wished we could have stopped by to see our house in real life rather than on TV. Returning to New England with snow today makes me realize just how fabulous it is down there. Regardless of what several people have complained about anyone would be thrilled to be there and call this home.
I think, pray and think about this house! That is a true dream becoming true!!!!!
I will come over to tour my house, can’t wait!!!
I loved the decoration and also the quality of material and furniture in the house. The view is just breathtaking!! Can’t wait to wake up in that master bedroom and sip my cup of coffee in that patio.I know the area, we have been there before and we dream about living there, this was years ago. Islamorada…HERE I come!!!!!!!!!
My kids and husband are all excited, too!!!!
Thanks HGTV…you are the best by far!!!!
I would really love to win this dream home. Right now we are so far away from our family and we have relatives in the Keys so this would be ideal for us. I guess it never hurts to dream…
Love the house, location, and decorating . And I would surely pay the taxes. Betsy
I just visited the Message Board, someone here had suggested i go there for answers. Wonderful, everyone was so friendly and helpful. Go over there if you have questions.
I LOVE this house, it’s is absolutely our family’s dream home. I think I would just pass out if I won!!! I can’t even imagine what it would be like to win something so grand! WOW, it’s just an amazing home, MORE than I could of ever dreamed of.
I watch HGTV all the time I think it,s a great show, the dream house is perfect i believe there are not enough words that can express how amazing this house is ,I wish I could see myself living in that house because it would not only be my dream but i would share this dream with my kids and my husband, my husband would be amazed because if someone deserves to have this dream home it would be him for being such a devoted husband and father he always thinks about us first so this time me and my kids would want to give him something that he would cherish for years to come…….
This is the home of my dreams!! Words cannot describe the beauty of the location, nor the design and details that put this wonderful project together. Winning this would be the answer to my (and anyones) prayers! Thank you HGTV for allowing us dreamers to dream every year! Every year the Dream House just gets better and better, you guys are amazing! 2008 Dream house in my opinion is the best yet! (How are you going to top this one HGTV? Hawaii maybe?) I am very surprised that there are some folks that are calling this home “ugly”! It amazes me that there would be anyone who would not love this one. I am also surprised that most of the previous Dream Home winners chose to sell their homes.. Each and every one was a beauty. Winning a prize like this would be wonderful- but I suppose paying the taxes and upkeep could be problems for some. Good luck to everyone- I trust that this home will go to someone who needs, deserves, and will love it as it should be… And if the winner doesn’t love it, put it up for auction and please email me the details!!
Wow, I’m surprised at all the negative comments on this contest. I toured the home online and I’ve visited Islamorada every year for the past 5 years (we drive with two kids from Maryland to the Keys) because it is such a paradise. I can’t think of anything better than winning a beautiful home in paradise. I personally like the bright colors of the tropics and find the home to be a perfect fit for us. Our boat would look beautiful parked outside. The only thing missing is a fish cleaning table but I expect one will eventually be added to the dock. God bless and good luck to all who enter.
My husband and I stayed in Key Largo this week. On our 2 hour trip to the Keys we saw a small sign “HGTV Tour” on US 1.
We had no idea how close our hotel was to the dream home! Anyway on the way back we decided to pay the $40.00 and take the tour. I believe this was fate.
The house is pretty small, however the views was beautiful.
It appeared that stuff was put on the tables and they forgot to arrange decorations and accessories.
However, we discovered it was their intention to have it look that way. …A little disappointed at the decor, however the location is breathtaking and colors and choices of decorations in the home was still lovely.
After years of entering we decided to “sow a seed” to the childrens shelter. We have faith that seed will return our harvest.
I claimn that A. Harrison is the WINNER of the dream home FOR 2008…that house is mine by faith!
HGTV I just want to say you could have not picked a more peaceful spirited place for a “Dream Home”. I do plan one day to move to the Keys. My ex introduced me to the Keys in the early 90′s and fell in love with it then accompanied for the love of Mr. Buffett and his music which made it all come togehter. More than just the awesome view surronding the Keys there is a tranquil and welcoming feeling. It took me a few days but definitely slowed down to totally enjoy lifes surrondings and be thankful for such beauty bestowed by our maker. There are no other people in the world like those who live in the Keys and one day I will be one of them. I have two children that have always admired the Keys through me and hope to visit one day. I would absolutely love to have them living there of course. This house is Lovely and if you can not relax in the surroundings provided that is only your fault.
My husband had been wanting to visit the Keys for a couple of weeks. He had watched a TV show about the Railroad built to connect the Keys. My ONLY reason for going to the Keys was to visit MY Dream Home. Alas, we arrived at the dirt road next to the Rain Barrel too late for the Monday Tour (January 21). The guard told me to “come back THURSDAY morning at 10:00 am. HGTV was filming Tuesday & Wednesday. I never did get to actually tour MY Dream Home. I REALLY WANT TO WIN IT. Please God. We have 3 grown children & 4 grandchildren who are praying with me. We all would have so much fun there. My grandson, Kevin, said that “we could live together”. I said “I would buy a boat with my retirement money” for us to enjoy OUR Dream Home even more so. I fell in LOVE with the Florida Keys especially Islamarada & Key West. I LOVE THE DREAM HOME AND ALL IT’S FURNISHINGS AND YUKON HYBRID without actually seeing it all in person ONLY on the computer. I came SO CLOSE to actually standing on the balcony with my hands on the railing smiling for my first photo of what is to be MY Dream Home. I promise to share it with my children and grandchildren. What WONDERFUL memories my grandchildren will have spending time in Islamarada & the other Keys. DREAMS DO COME TRUE! I REALLY REALLY WANT TO WIN THIS DREAM HOME. DEAR GOD, PLEASE. Sincerely, Bernadette Rutka Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (Home of the infamous Pittsburgh Steelers)………………………………….
That’s what’s wrong with this country….everyone feels so ENTITLED they’d actually complain about a FREE HOUSE! For those of you who have complaints, maybe you shouldn’t submit your entry – that way you won’t have to deal with the disappointment. And the rest of us who are explosively excited about the chance to win have better odds.
This home does not appeal. Hurricane? Where does one go for protection with all the glass? The lower floor should have been raised as done in a previous Dream Home. This land area appears to be at sea level and with a storm surge, it will be flooded if not washed away!
Also, the women who had done the decorating in so many of the previous homes – when is HGTV going to release her? Her ideas are boring!!! She has played her game over and over again. It is time for new blood in decorating and also designing the entire next Dream Home. HGTV should be considering the many, many suggestions given here and plan accordingly.
Taking into account the many taxes, etc. that put a ‘winning’ such as this out of the reach of the ordinary US citizen, the HGTV, as suggested earlier, should call this a Fantasy Home.
How easy was it to sell the previous homes? Wasn’t it very difficult to sell the one in Texas?
However, good luck!
I have read the entire Blog, I can’t believe so many people can have so many complaints about a beautiful house in a beautiful place, and to worry about a neighbor, I bet most of you have a neighbor now. One neighbor is Founders Park, great beach. If you want lots of property maybe you can win a great house in the mountains, all by yourself. So If you don’t like my new house, find your own. Also, free does’t mean free it means about $700,000.00 in taxes. Also I like the truck. This is a great house for the entire family.
My kids are already fighting over bedrooms, and notified their friends that we’re moving. LOVE THIS HOUSE. Just in case I don’t win though, I have some great new ideas for redecorating my current home:)
We did visit this home 2 weeks ago today! Very disappointed as there is a public park right next door! There were noisy kids frolicking in the water all day, WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT!! Not our idea of a dream retreat. And yes, the public pool for the complex will be right at the foot of your patio. The property ends at the back edge of the patio. And seriously, WHAT WINNER will be able to afford the $600,000 taxes??!!! That too is sooo DISAPPOINTING! The HGTV site makes you think this place is huge, it’s not. It’s a tiny $600,000 PRIZE!! Nothing is ever as it seems…………so DISAPPOINTING!!! Good luck if you win! Enjoy all the people in your backyard and the spirited Islamorada kids that will share your beach!!!
Love the time of the year when we all set our sights on the beautiful dream homes provided by hg tv. we are all able to step out of our day to day , and the promblems of our lives to wish for a dream come true. This of course will be my wish this year, as well as the years past, I see myself there on the balcony, jumping for joy at the thought of sharing this place, with my family. But I also look forward to the joy of seeing the persons face , if not mine that realizes, this dream did come true! good luck to us of us that still believe!!!
I was just wondering about the location of the property. We go to Islamorada every year for the lobster dive. At what mile marker is the property located?
I know this is a 1 in a million chance but these last few years have been difficult to bear. I need a change in my life so i took the chance. Me and my family have been through so much all at once we are begining to lose all faith in things. It would be a miracle if we could call this house our own. So the only thing I could say now is PLeeeeeASE!!
I will be touring the Deam home the first of March after a stay in Key West. The Florida Keys are a true paradise for the people from Michigan. I hope next year I may winter in the Dream Home. HGTV you a wonderful.
I’m retired and have 7 great grand chikdren, love
all very much, but I’m not rich,so I do not see them very often, love to have home like this
maybee than I will see my Grand kids more.
House is beautiful and location is great!!!!
Ewa
I love this house. One of the great things about it is the location. My husband and I got married In Islamorada in Oct.05. Since then we have run into a few money problems and we haven’t been able to vacation any where. We’ve been wanting to go back to the Keys badly. Another great thing about this house is the two cute littie beds in the childrens room, they are prefect for our two grandsons. This would be a wondreful place for US. G.B.
I am very curious as to what the annual property taxes are on this place. I also agree with some of the writers that this house is too chopped up and I am saddened by the fact that it will be surrounded by other homes. Your ads are a bit deceitful. Also, the bathroom in this house looks so inconvenient. The towel bars are too far from the shower! I would certainly accept it if I won, but most likely would sell….sigh….
Who ever wins is the luckist person on earth!!!
good luck to all!
hope we win!
Figueroa Family
I’ve never been to Florida!
If we win well…HGTV you are the best!
Good luck to all!!!
Hope we win!!
Figueroa Family
Thanks for the tax info. I asked HGTV what the taxes would be and they just told me to talk to my tax consultant. I knew that was a bad sign!
Heyy my name is Kate me and my family saw this house and we almost died it’s so amazing and my dad almost fainted when he heard all that you could get with the house! I love Florida I have never been there before so it would be cool to win a house there. I love being on the beach and to make sand casles there so much fun! I have a Boston Teerier named Sox he loves the sand and when ever we go to Orgen and vist the beach he is the first one out on the sand! All I can say is I hope we win it could change my life forever!
My husband Bill & I were at the HG TV Dream house last week. It was so beautiful. We loved everything about the house. We loved the matching dog house. Our Yorki would love it. The views were breath taking. We would love to be Islamarada residents. The older we get the more we want to be out of Michigan for the winters. I don’t see how anyone could say anything negative about a chance to win a dream. Good luck to all. And thanks for letting us dream. Cathy & Bill Pauli Michigan
i love it
I knew i would win! Look out for a list of dates available for rental!
All I can say is amazing! To be a young family, as we are, raising our children in such surroundings and lure and lessons of the ocean. It is really fun to dream about “what if we won?”.
Thank you for letting us dream.
May God Bless this person and his/her family whom wins the HGTV 2008 Dream Home may it be a place of joy, peace, blessings, love, and security. May it be a place full of great times and great memories and to HGTV Good Job as always. Lord send down your pot of Gold to pay for the taxes on winnings be it for me or for you.
