  3. They’re giving away the house on birthday!! What a great birthday present…hehe. I see people posting things that aren’t true, I read the rules and the prize include “includes structure, lot, and landscaping.” The lot is included and anyone that can’t afford to keep the house SHOULD enter anyway. You don’t have to pay taxed on a home upfront…they are due twice a year. You can sell the house and pay capitol gains and still win enough money to buy something you can afford. I hope everyone enters and I wish everyone could win. Good luck to all and HAPPY NEW YEAR and I hope all your DREAMS come true in 2008 :-)

  6. Every year I watch from the time they break ground til it’s finished. I enter everyday and pray like so many others. But this time I truly would love to win. What a beautiful home and the dog house is so cute. Yes I am a dream house junkie and I dare say I may never win but will always watch, hope, and play. To everyone have a safe New Year and may All your dreams come true.

  8. I’m destined to win this fabulous home! The contest ends on another important date in my life in 2008. When I think big and pray hard, my luck value is undeterminable. I can’t wait until they hand me the “Keys”!!!

  9. We only have 2 bedrooms in our house. It is a small ranch style house that is more an antique than a house, and we live in a small oil town which has absolutely nothing here to do. Me and my sister have high hopes for what we want to do with our lives. I want want to open a spa and my older sister wants to be a teacher. Here in Van, there is only one school and so there are really no real opportunities for my sister to create potential job opportunities. And we also don’t have a real spa besides the two tanning salons, one of which doubles as a miniature gym.
My dad is always out on the road working; he comes home every two weeks, sometimes even a month. He is a diabetic and so his feet are always killing him, so I think it would be nice if he could come home and just kick his feet up and just relax. I know he can do that here at home, but our house is a small ranch style home, so there are a lot of things that he can stub his toes on.
My mom is always working, and she just deserves to be able to see one of the most amazing views this side of heaven, as she works. She has the tendency to bring her work home with her, so she doesn’t exactly get much time to just relax.

  10. Why don’t you have an elevator in your homes? l have not been able to climb stairs for about 12 yrs now starting when l was about 56 yrs. old.

Many people, esp. in Florida cannot climb stairs anymore.

  11. And that is exactly what anyone who wins should do, is sell the house. The winner of the ’06 house in Tyler, Texas was offered cash to sell and he did not. Well guess what after a million dollar loan, he still is losing the house. It is up for sale on the courthouse steps next month. These houses are nice, but not practical!!

Anonymous on December 31, 2007 at 6:43 pm
  12. Well, you better be able to afford the upkeep (ie taxes, insurance, utilities and aww yes uncle sam) or you will be just like the winner of the home in Tyler, Texas. It is up for sale on the courthouse steps next month.

  23. I can’t wait, my fingers are crossed on this one. I wanted the last one so bad I could just taste it.But it is just as well that we didn’t win it with my husbands thin blood and all, he would have froze in all that snow. But that was the home of my dreams for sure. But they are all so wonderful in their own way. I do love the location of this one, warm all the time, WOW. I will be signing up for it everyday and hoping we win this time. Happy New Year HGTV and everyone else too.

  31. It is only a dream, I would not ever win something as beautiful as your home. But it doesn’t hurt dream….

  32. My home was demolished due to flash floods, and the land collapsed. My husband had put in everything he had into buying that house, which now is just a flat piece of land. My 2 sons were so traumatised by this whole experience that now whenever it rains so badly they run to me and ask…will this house also collapse?? We’re living in a rental house right now, as we can’t afford to buy a new house again! I would really be so lucky if I could win a dream home and make my kids realise that after every bad, there is good, and there’s always light at the end of the tunnel!! One day!!!! Hopefully!!!

  36. We are extremly excited to be part of the Dream Home Giveaway this year. My husband & I lived in The Beautiful Florida Keys(1993–1996) & had to leave due to the expense. My husband was a fisherman, as I worked for the local Hospital. We even had a small cleaning business, still could not make ends meet. We’ve been back to The Keys @ least 5x so far, we just can not get enough. Although the TEARS are hard to keep back when it’s time to leave!!! Still worth THE BEAUTY OF BEING IN THE KEYS!!!!!
We’ll keep playing!!! You never know how miracles work or if it may be our LUCKY DAY!!!!
Happy New Year to One Lucky Person!!!!

  37. Another ‘plus’ a potential winner (like me!) could consider is, if zoning and neighborhood allows, renting this beautiful home to defray some of the costs. The outstanding fishing and other water sports attract many to the Keys. I have friends who have rented homes in the area on short term basis for their vacations.

  38. If I win this home, children will be sheltered here. I have volunteered my time and knowledge for many causes through out the years and children have always been a priority to me. This home is in God’s country and I am sure his own hand created it and Im sure a deserving person will be given the opportunity to live here whether its me or not.
