  3. We really need a home where it is warm. I have CMT a nerve disease and I’m always cold. So it would be a “surreal” dream come true. We rent because we can’t afford to buy. So when it comes to decorating we can’t do much. Thank you for giving me and my family a chance!

  4. If I win, I would sell it and pay off my current house. Then I would take the rest of the money and invest it for my retirement.

  5. Why doesn’t HGTV consider doing a Dream Home in the $300,000 to $400,000 area, and pay the anticipated income taxes on the home, plus the first year’s anticipated property taxes. That would allow the average family to win something wonderful and actually be in a position to KEEP it.

Marti Reed on January 26, 2008 at 8:04 pm
  6. One other thing – if the Dream Homes were more affordable (and more capable of being retained by the winner), HGTV would be in a position to give away 3 or 4 of the Dream Homes each year.

Marti Reed on January 26, 2008 at 8:06 pm
  7. I am new to the Dream home family. My wife has been after me to enter, and I never seemed to find the time,YOU HAVE MY ATTENTION NOW! What a beauty! If my wife was lucky enough to win this wonderful Home I know she would never be able to keep it to our selves. I have a feeling that half of the Great state of OREGON and those less fortunate would be dropping buy for a visit.

I am currently in the process of getting my teaching certification and be a stay at home mommy. We have had to move in with my parents until our life settles down.I would love to win this house to have a new beautiful place to start our new lives in.

  12. I guess that’s why they call it the Dream Home, it’s beautiful!! The closest to heaven you could get! The warm weather would be a dramatic change compared to minus temperatures here in Montana! We look forward to having a chance to win! I will no longer have to wrap myself up or snuggle up together. My gosh, you might keep us from having another lil’ one around the house( ha-ha)!!!

  13. HGTV online and live TV shows are the highlights of my day besides my kids, my faith and thanking God of my everyday blessings. I’m an avid fan of HGTV and entering and winning the HGTV Home Giveaway will be a dream come true. I’m the third child of seven children and have four children of my own including a stepson whom I raised since he was 7 years old. I grew up in an environmnet wherein 7 children will have to share a three bedroom house, and gathering firewoods at the farm to cook our meal and fetch water for everyday use. I don’t ask for much, but winning a dream home located in Florida will be a heaven’s gift, a blessing and answer to my prayers. I grew up in a country with a tropical weather and always love the beach or at least dream of owning a home close to the beach or lake. When I was growing up, my Dad will get the whole family together and take us to the beach on the weekend. I learned from my Dad that you don’t have to have a lot of money to have fun and spend quality time with your family. That’s basically the highlight of my childhood years- a trip to the beach with my family. Honestly, logging on and watching HGTV everyday makes me feel like a winner because I learned new things everyday not to mention that I’m able to apply what I learn which gives me joy and satisfaction after successfuly accomplishing a project. Home improvement is my passion but the only thing that hinders me is not having the budget to do it. But either way, I just take it one day at a time and little or not, the accomplishment brings me great joy and satisfaction. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK HGTV… MAY YOU CONTINUE TO INSPIRE PEOPLE LIKE ME. THANKS AND GOD BLESS. Agnes Grace

  14. I would love to win this home, but I’m not a lucky person, and the odds must be so high.God looks over everyone so I’m sure that the person that does win it really is in need of a home, just like I am.So good luck ever one,on this beautiful home.I would love to be living in warm weather like Florida and listen to the ocean.Where I live it is right now 28 degrss outside, and thats warm tonight here,up north by the canadian boarder.45 mins.to Montreal

  15. This house rocks! If I win, I will make it a family vacation home for all to enjoy. My husband would be elated; fly fishing is his passion.

  16. How do you really select the winner of the Dream Home? It appears that anyone can enter many times a day. How do you handle this? How objective is the selection? Thank you, Delores Heyd

Delores Heyd on February 4, 2008 at 6:47 am
  17. I love the home, it is truly beautiful! The only problem is, it might be someone’s “NIGHTMARE HOME” istead of the dream home it was meant to be! I am afraid of winning this home now, because of the past comments others have posted on this site about the TAXES and INSURANCE I would have to pay! The idea of selling it would be a possibility, but what if you could not find a buyer? It would truly be a dream house if all taxes were payed and would not be the responsibility of the winner. I am dissabled and could never pay for the taxes nor the homeowners insurance! My 13 year old daughter has fallen in love with this home!!

  18. Well I must say I am very sad. I have been mailing in entries. Hundreds. We made this a family affair. We decided to cut out little houses about 6 x 8 seemed small enough for a post card. We cut out about 2000 of them. We all had blisters from cutting so many. My teenagers filled info on one side while my husband and I filled the other. We were so proud after mailing about five hundred we found some were coming back, postage due. I rushed to the post office the next day only to be told in addition to the .26 cent postage I had to pay an additional .58 cent ea. glad to pay it and get them on their way only to get other disturbing news from the post office. Any that weren’t returned were probably put into a bin for letters with postage due. So how many are just stuck out there and what was my solution? Well all the entries I still had at home the pretty little houses were now converted into condo’s with the help of my scissors and a ruler. We will begin tonight writing new ones for those setting in a bin somewhere. Good luck everyone

  24. I’ve been praying and praying for something big to happen in my life, some kind of wonferful change. My husband and I live in a cramped house with my sister and her three kids and dog along with my younger brother and his fiancee. MY humdrum life as blessed as it is needs something. I look at that house and it screams me! I have faith in GOD I’m sure it will go to the person taht deserves it the most.

  25. We,as a Family have never won at anything. The house is very beautiful and beyond anything I could imagine. If I was lucky enough to win this house it would become my entire family’s house. We are still lucky to have my elderly in-laws still here. They have never been out of Illinois their entire life and my Father-in-law loves hot weather, as do my Husband,Sons,Grandchildren, and Daughter-in laws, This absolutely would be a one in a life time dream for whoever wins……….

  26. This is truly a DREAM HOUSE for anyone out there. I have written in many entries for this sweepstakes for several years but have not won yet, because we have had several tragedies each time this contest was on, and I was unable to get to use my best methods for entering, which I detailed in one of my books. I know if I had used my methods, I would of won. This year my husband and I have it all planned out, as Florida is where we have always wanted to spend our last years. My blood pressure has been higher than ever lately and was 150/90 in my right arm last night after I got home from Bingo. I was afraid I was having another stroke but was still able to write out some more entries and plan where to mail them from so that they will arrive at the HGTV corporate headquarters in just the right amounts according to my method. I would love to have a house where my daughter and our granddaughters could visit. One of them is special education and the ocean would be great therapy for her. I have sent in many entries in her name, and I tell her sweetie, if I won, you can too. Thank you HGVT for making it a dream for all of us to one day be the proud owners of this hose. Thank you.

We live on the other side of the USA and have so many wonderful friends who have retired in Florida..We would love to join them there. We need that kind of weather in our lives..We love the water, and have grandchildren and kids in their 30′s who would love to come and stay and visit us. We were recently hit by a major land slide at our present home..We desperately want to leave here and put our money to use at the Dream Home. Please remember us…We so desperately want to come to Florida.

  32. I, like many others probably will not win this home. However, what a beautiful job you have done! The basic structure of this home is impeccable. The sturdiness, safety and stability is what attacts me most. The location is obviously a strong point. Absolutely beautiful. Whoever wins this home would be out of their mind to sell this jewel. Good Luck Everyone!

  33. Hi, my name is Lisa and I live in San Francisco, CA where I’ve lived my entire life. I’m new to the message boards because I didn’t know about the contest until tonight. I was sitting on the couch doing some work and watching Inside Edition. A segment on the HGTV Dream home giveaway aired and suddenly I became totally captivated by the home’s beauty. I went into dream mode reflecting on my trip to the keys more than 10 years ago. I can still remember the smell of the keys. This house, OMG, it’s so beautiful! I don’t just want this house, I DREAM about this house and it’s ironic because so do so many other people. Do dreams really come true? Do dream home dreams really come true? I hope so but if it doesn’t happen to me my time I do hope it’s yours! Good luck to everyone!

  46. From the moment i saw this home, my heart started beating in such an odd way that I had to enter this contest. I myself am not one for material things or things that are given to me. I beleive in beautiful things and right now I live in a beautiful home, which I could probably put on a sweepstakes for someone to win. All I am saying is there is sometihng about this house that actually made me enter to win every day, in some odd way I was drawn to it.BRING ON THE 16th!
