  2. Great home….The only issue I have is the kids room being on the 1st Fl, what if you have small children? Looking forward to viewing the show tonight. Hoping that god will smile on my family and grant my wish of move them out of New York and into a relaxed environment.

GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE…..HAPPY NEW YEAR. :O)

  3. I would like to know who designed this house–oh my goodness–3 floors-and the kids’ room is on the bottom floor with big open patio doors entering the house/room while master is on the top floor. Talk about unsafe layout–and I do not see a bathroom associated with this bedroom.–Guess bedroom should be on the bottom floor with bathroom (can be transformed into a home office if need be)==kids room should be on 2nd floor with bathroom/double vanity. Master is fine on top floor. It should be re looked it –very unsafe. I realize whomever wins the house can do what they want–but just to work the plans this way –seems like the designers are not concerned with safety.

  11. Maybe it’s the internet, but I don’t like the flow of this year’s house at all. I’m hoping it’s the ‘net, if not, your designer needs some work!

Pete on January 1, 2008 at 12:19 pm
  12. How nice it would be to be in Florida right now. Minnesota temp is 10 freezing degrees. I entered this dream home to hopefully be in warm Florida in March.

  13. I packed my Cruzan Rum!

Barry on January 1, 2008 at 12:21 pm
  14. I am struck by the serene beauty of this home! We have vacationed in the Keys and have never forgotten the vibrant sunsets, luxurious blue water or the silky feel of the beaches.
You have managed to capture all of those experiences in one house.

Angela on January 1, 2008 at 12:38 pm
  15. What a beautiful home, in a dream part of the country! HGTV has done it again. Once again I’ll be entering to win, but whoever wins will have a retirement home to be thankful for!

  23. Only in America could such a magnificent home be given to a person like me, or some other equally ordinary person in a drawing. I shall be dreaming of winning it, it is beautiful

    D.Whitfield Chisholm on January 1, 2008 at 1:01 pm
  24. This home is so airy and light. I love the colors and the furnishings are perfect for the Florida atmosphere. Looking forward to the show tonight.

  26. Having been to the Florida Keys on vacation not too long ago, I couldn’t imagine a more perfect spot for the new Dream Home. This is just a beautiful home in an idealic location. Cudos to whoever found this gorgeous spot! Although I’ve loved all the previous Dream Home’s interiors – it’s great to see HGTV using new interior designers and decorators this year. I’m already shamelessly stealing some of their ideas for my own home!

I’ll be sure to enter the sweepstakes everyday with the dream of winning. Good luck to all!!

    Cheryl P on January 1, 2008 at 1:10 pm
  27. As always, the dream home is absolute perfection. The Florida keys is the perfect place… a true home away from home!!
    Wish me luck!! :-)

  30. I know the home is a long shot But would it not be great to rest and relax, drink your coffee on the porch and say ahhhhhh…..

Maryland Wishing! on January 1, 2008 at 1:48 pm
  31. This Florida Native would have no prob moving only an hour south! Even as a kid, I never understood how people can survive without being close to the Keys. The boys and hubby would enjoy being closer to the surf and mommy would soak up the sun in between laundry loads. My Jeep would look great parked in front of this house. Would probably even host the neighborhood hurricane parties. Nice to see HGTV meet all of my needs in a house. Home sweet home. GREAT South FLA job. It really is not just a house, it is a lifestyle.

Mommy Trish on January 1, 2008 at 1:50 pm
  32. This home has taken my breath away. So light and airy and whimsical. We lost our son in 2003 and his most favorite place in the world was Florida..Now I understand why! Keith..put a good word in for Mom & Dad..

    Jo-Ann VR on January 1, 2008 at 1:54 pm
  33. It is lovely but I do not think the designer recognized the fact that children in the home need to be safe. To have them on the bottom floor and the parents on the top? What were you thinking?

Karen on January 1, 2008 at 1:55 pm
  34. I have to agree with Laura about the bedrooms they definately should have been done differently.
I am not real fond of this house it is not as impressive as previous ones. Every year HGTV has outdone itself by always making the next home even better then the previous but this one OMG terrilbe. The only thing I like about this home is the location that is the only beauty of this place.

dawn on January 1, 2008 at 1:56 pm
  35. I love the decorating in this house. The colors are amazing and the furniture is great. I think you guys did an awesome job this year. The decorating is so much better than last year. If I won I would pack up that day and not think twice about moving. It’s absolutely gorgeous!

Megan on January 1, 2008 at 2:02 pm
  36. What a great home! Perfectly constructed and decorated for the Key West style. It fits right in but a lot better. I love this home and this will make someones dreams come true, hopefully mine. Great job!

Judy on January 1, 2008 at 2:12 pm
  37. I really love this house! If you win this house and do not like the room arrangements get creative and rearrange them, besides it’s a bit safer to have children ground level vs stairs (ski slope). HGTV always has fantastic remix ideas for rooms they are the masters!

A Blice Tx on January 1, 2008 at 2:13 pm
  38. Since my children are grown, I have no problem with the bedroom situation. I can see it as an issue for a younger family however. That said, rooms and their purposes are meant to be changed based upon the needs of the users. The location is what “sells” this house – anyone can repurpose and redecorate! Just to wake up and smell the salt air….mmmmmm. Love, love, love the location!!

Pat on January 1, 2008 at 2:16 pm
  39. I have read several of the comments, and have come up with a solution. Not everyone’s dream or dream house is going to be the same. How about if, in the future, the person is selected first, and then the dream home matches their personal dream. For instance, I would love to have a fire place, or fire pit, but I did not see one. It will still not stop me from entering, since I know this house was built for me. (They just forgot to ask me exactly what I wanted, or what my dream is) My dream is to win, and to win big!

DJ on January 1, 2008 at 2:17 pm
  40. If everyone will just hold their horses (so to speak) and just wait until the reveal tonight, I’m sure it will be beautiful as always. They
always save the best for the reveal!

A Blice Tx on January 1, 2008 at 2:22 pm
  41. This house is a really beautiful house, but it does not compare to the other houses you have had in the past. I agree with one of the other readers. Who designed this house. You dont put a kids bedroom on the bottom floor and Miles away from the master bedroom. Entertainment room needs to be a movie/game room to entertain in. Also where is the awesome back yard with the pool and hot tub and fire pit? Where is the guest house. If you were to be living here, I am sure you would have family come and stay with you and where would they stay? House is not big enough..Most family’s these days have more then one child. Love the big master bedroom with balcony. Living/dining/kitchen is a beautiful floor. I can see my Mom and Dad living in this home, but a family with children still at home No…I would personally Love to have the house but I would have to do some remoldeling already. Keep up the good work on the Houses. They are all gorgeous!

  42. What is the mailing address to send in postcards for the Home Giveaway contest? I don’t see the rules of the sweetpstakes posted anywhere.

    Great contest!

    With much appreciation,

  43. I think the best thing about this house is the view. It speaks for itself. Wow. Can’t wait for the HGTV crew to come to my house and tell me I won. Can I have Vern Yip give me the news? I think he is the greatest designer in the world.

jaishree patel on January 1, 2008 at 2:34 pm
  44. I could not have designed a more perfect home for myself. Everything about it reflects my personality. It’s like the builder pulled this out of my dreams….your last home was impressive…but THIS ONE…nothing can top. Thanks for the wonderful chance to dream….

Colleen on January 1, 2008 at 2:35 pm
  45. I’m crossing my fingers!!

Emily on January 1, 2008 at 2:37 pm
  46. Saw that the kids room is on the first floor…no problem, I’d have my kid on the second floor anyway. First floor bedroom didn’t seem to have a closet or a bathroom unless I’m missing something. Also, no pool in Florida that’s a must…is it possible to put one in? Is the water accessible or just to look at. Did I see that it was a one car garage only? Let me know if anyone notices those things. Still want to win it and tweek it a bit :)

Tony on January 1, 2008 at 2:37 pm
  47. The keys are one of my favorite places to vacation. I would love to live there and raise my kids. The house and Yukon are beautiful!! Looking at the rules I can only wonder what the taxes and fees would be if you won this.

Nurse in Kentuy on January 1, 2008 at 2:43 pm
  48. How much would all the taxes, etc be for this total prize package?? Kinda a bummer to think you win but can’t afford to accept the prize!: (

Kayla on January 1, 2008 at 2:47 pm
  49. I have wanted to move to the florida keys since a small child. This house SCREAMS true florida key style. Awesome job HGTV, ………dreaming to win!!!!

Tammy on January 1, 2008 at 2:53 pm
  50. Odd layout. I definitely implore the designers to consider families with younger children. Placing children alone on the ground floor or alone on the top floor (Tyler TX) is undesirable. Unless you are a parent you might not understand. I know that we all enjoy your hard work year after year. I am just pointing this concern out since it seems to be a common thread that repeats year after year. Can anyone at HGTV that is involved with the Dream Home comment on why they choose this approach? Much thanks and best of luck to everyone for a wonderful 2008!
