  1. Now that the Florida Giveaway has ended, I wish good luck to all of you with all of your (and my) entries! The next Dream Home for 2008 will be in Bluffton, SC called Tradition HHI and is totally Green! What an awesome idea (for our lives and environment) and they are absolutely gorgeous. I live on Hilton Head Island in SC in a very small 2 bedroom condo and have watched the communties of Tradition grow to the beauty it is. Someone is going to be mighty lucky and blessed to win such a gorgeous home. They have already posted their new signs along Hwy 278 and on I-95. Super advertisement. A sure winner! Best of luck to us all!

  2. My daughter Shayllah is driving me crazy! She wants us to start packing our things so we could be ready on March 16 to move into our HGTV Dream Home. I’m telling her not to be disappointed if we do not win. She replied “Mom remember, POSITIVE THINKING, POSITIVE THINKING”

We are your average american family always trying to get ahead and always a day late and a dollar short falling behind..It has been a rough couple of years..how nice would it be to finally be ahead! It has been a rough year and looking forward to having a escape! Good Luck to us all!

  4. I hope that someone who entered can afford to keep this house, and live in it, wins. There are so many stories of families in need who deserve to win. I hope it is one of you… If I won it… my husband and I would sell it (after everyone got to have a dream vacation in it) so we could help our children, and grandchildren, get an education. We have camp land in Vermont and would build an off the grid cabin, so we could retire there and be near family.
Good luck to all of those deserving….Peace…

  6. Well with all the others who have hope Ican hope too. I lost my home due to a divorce and a tragic accident that left me disabled soon afterwards. I need the warmth and would that be a grand thing to get as a gift to my body and homebound life. I would have a place for family and my own needs, but maybe maybe not huh? In any case cheers to the winner and be as happy as I would love to be in the new home

  9. I, just as everyone else has commented, would love to win. I have entered my entire family and said if any of us win, it will have to be shared along with the taxes since I could not afford them on my own. I believe after seeing this beautiful home, I have become addicted to this HGTV site and winning, this can’t be healthy! Good luck to everyone, too bad we all can’t win.

  11. HGTV–you guys are awesome for having these contests. It really gives the average Joe something to look forward to and dream about. Its hard to make a living today and people do need hope! Do you need to hire a firefighter/paramedic for anything???Thanks again

  16. My husband and I are retired, he was a teacher and having this home would bring the family to visit us in a wonderfull place that we allredy know because we’ve been in Isla Morada once and it’s beautifull, plus, they could go to all the other places around. It would be a dream come true.

  17. Thank you HGTV for the opportunity to enter this contest for such a fabulous home. Good luck to all who entered. Looking forward to seeing the 2009 home. May God watch over everyone.

  18. folks, I know everyone dreams of winning this beautiful house and one lucky winner will…but very few people will be able to actually live in the house…check out the taxes on a prize of approx. 2 million dollars…you don’t win a “free” house. If you decide to keep the place you will have to take out a very large mortgage to pay off the taxes, unless you have sizable property or other assets to pay off Uncle Sam. One other option would be to rent the place for most of the year and use it for a couple of weeks. Just be real, just because it is a “dream” house, doesn’t mean there aren’t practical obstacles to actually living in it… California Bob

  19. Why can’t they build a dream home that people can actually afford to KEEP?

Dawn on February 21, 2008 at 9:56 am
  20. hey this house will make all your dreams come true ,But for all you people who can picture themselfs in this house I hope you can pay the taxs or it will be a real short lived dream .. Good Luck to all ……Ron

  21. Well…I can’t see any of the widgets on any pictures, but what the heck. How about Alaska?

Sandy on February 21, 2008 at 10:28 am
  22. What a lovely home in a wonderful setting. It begs to be shared with friends and family for all to enjoy. I just wish HGTV would build a home that the average dreamer could afford to keep. How about it guys..next time don’t just encourage dreaming of owning a fabulous home in a beautiful location…..make it happen by applying all of your inspiration and sometimes absolutely magical capabilities to creating a gift to KEEP! Love you guys and love all the excellent ideas on HGTV.

  23. I am entering for my mom who is 74 years old. It reminds her of her native Jamaica. She has worked hard over the years and really deserves this. May God bless everyone and may the most blessed person win.

Charmaine on February 21, 2008 at 6:32 pm
  24. Hello,
I would love to live in this BEAUTIFUL HOME! My husband and I would sell everything we own and move to Florida. We have both worked all our life and are retired. What a retirement home for us and a wonderful get away for our children & grandchildren to come and vist!
I have NEVER won anything. I have always had to work for it. Oh well, you can’t win if you don’t enter. GOOD LUCK EVERYONE. However, I hope we win.

  25. I am clicking my heals, i want to go home to Isalorada!! and with me i take my dear husband and our 2 four legged children, lucy and madison. i want to go home…..i want to go home….

Debbie on February 21, 2008 at 6:59 pm
  26. Ok…I’ve read the sob stories, the dreamer, the “pick me”, the “trying to make a deal with God” blogs and I’ve gotta say, I honestly hope I do NOT win this house! The bloggers that have brought the tax burden to the forefront have brought me back to reality. The home is truly gorgeous…it would be heaven to live there….I make good money, but no way could I afford to pay the taxes or the upkeep on this house…..I’m with the people that say “HGTV build a dream home that we can afford to keep”!

Mary on February 21, 2008 at 8:46 pm
  27. My husband would really like me to stop watching HGTV (his honey-do-list is getting very long), but I’m addicted…so, now I watch my favorite shows while on a treadmill. Seriously, we both enjoy the shows and entering to win the Dream House. Thanks HGTV for making humdrum January and February interesting! We can’t wait to see who the winner will be!

  30. This was fun. I enter every year, but this is by far my favorite. I’m praying. We’ve been through alot in the last 5 years. My best friend died of pancreatic cancer, daughters been fighting brain cancer 3 times, both my mom and dad passed. I think it’s time for me to have a little good luck. I PRAY It’s meant to be.

  31. Been reading all the blogs – There are alot of folks out here hoping, praying and dreaming of the possibilities. I am one of them too. I live with a remarkable mate – my husband and my best friend – my mom. Living in S. California for the past 22 years not being able to own a home. We started up an internet sales company that allows us to live anywhere and have been dreaming of relocating to the keys for the past 2 years! My husband is 64 and ready to semi-retire to the keys & enjoy the ocean and fishing ! while I enjoy working our business right from home!. This dream home in Islamorada seemed to good to be true! we each have entered nearly every day praying – please let it happen. So, Keep the faith everyone – dreams can come true – even those that seem out of reach!! I believe Angels do exist and prayers are heard!

  32. Everyone realizes that your government tax liability will be over $616,000.00 if won, don’t they? Not to mention all of the other fees that go into closing on such an expensive house. Even if you have the good fortune of winning the house, I do not know too many people that can take on that kind of liability along with quitting your job and trying to find another in the Keys.

  37. This is a beautiful home and very beautiful decorated. I would be so excited if I won, I have never won anything except a dollar at the grocery store. I get so excited just being able to enter. I keep thinking every year I will get a call and hear my name come up. If it is meant for me to win this, I will be very thankful. I was raised in a small town in North Georgia, lived in a house that when it snowed it would come thru the windows and get on our bed covers. Our family was por, but very, very blessed and I’m not ashamed of this. I learned from my raising to be very conservative and appreciative of what I have. I will just keep on trying if I don’t win this one. I’m keeping my hopes up. Thanks for the opportunity. God Bless whoever does win and I hope they will also be thankful.

Jodi Miller on February 27, 2008 at 10:46 am
  38. At 60, I am so over living in the nation’s snow-belt! The more we tour this magnificent home the more convinced I am to settle in warmer climes. My 4-yr.old grand-daughter already knows the dream home by heart and has her room picked out. Had to explain to her that millions of people are hoping to win and that chances are slight. She said, “But we can still dream!” and that’s what it’s all about, these cold and snowy days. Dreaming… What a great opportunity for someone and their family! Thank you HGTV for keeping the dreams alive for old and young alike.
