  5. I love the whole concept of a new home give-a-way. The only thing that would make it better is
to build the home where the winner wants it. I
would like it in my home town not some distant
place off. With our economy I would rather have
a paid off home to live in instead of one that I
would have to sell and start all over because it can only be visited once or twice a year.

  6. I can’t wait to watch the show when we will learn more about the home The thought of a home that respects the environment excites me. I always do my best to recycle I shred all the paper I can to recycle and I recycle glass and plastic I don’t use pesticides (I have dogs) or fertilizers I can’t wait to see the program on Sunday

  7. I love this house! The lay-out and all the cool ‘green’ features make it much more desirable to me than the Dream House in the Keys.
    Good Luck to everyone =D

  8. You guys really outdid yourselves with that green home. I love the layout and the furnishings. It looks truly comfortable to live in. My husband loves the look of it, too. And- such a great idea. I plan on entering as often as I can. Good luck to all of us!

  12. What a perfect location for the HGTV Green Home. I like the “small town” idea of Tradition Hilton Head, with its distinct village ambiance—even a proper village square for shopping and entertainment. Sounds ideal to me as a vacation getaway from the big city blues, or just as great for a year-round residence. Count me in! My first entry is already officially submitted. I wouldn’t mind being HGTV’s first Green Home winner, and I’ll be ready for the on camera close-up anytime. Oh, I do have one QUESTION: can I get a golf cart with my initials on it?

DBCoop on March 21, 2008 at 12:52 pm
  13. I entered everyday too, but my favorite was last year the cabin in North Carolina, and more than that I was very happy for the man who won.

I also love the green home even more than the home in the keys.

  14. Why is this info on the GH posted on the DH page? If I made a post about the GH on the DH message board, Admin would deleted the thread because it would be considered “off topic”.

Can’t we keep the two separate on the Blog as well?

Now bring on today’s clue for DH09!!

  15. I love the Green Home. The furnishings, colors, and the decor, are much classier than the ’08 Dream Home.

Bonnie on March 21, 2008 at 1:19 pm
  16. I love this home. I am from SC, and it would be wonderful to go back. I only have one complaint about the GH, it’s the washer and dryer. They are so low to the ground, that anyone with back problems will have a hard time doing the laundry. Other than that, I LOVE,LOVE,LOVE this home it’s absolutely gorgeous. Well done HGTV, well done.

  18. I like the look of the green home more too and it has a better lay out than the dream home. im not a big fan of SC,it is a prettty place to visit, so i am not going to enter. i would just have to sell it.who ever will win will get a pretty home.

  20. I started watching HGTV about one year ago and I can’t believe all the wonderful things that I’ve learned. I also just became a home owner in November 2007, so now I’m glued to this channel!!! When my husband is out of town for his military weekends,I have the tv to myself and its on HGTV all day. I’m addicted! Funny thing is I can’t decide on how to decorate my house.

Well,I entered the sweepstakes for the Key West home which is in my State. I kept looking out the front door to see if I was the winner and my husband was making fun of me :0). This time, I’m entering the contest by mail…every day I will send a post card in. I’m determined this time!

Thanks HGTV for all your wonderful shows and ideas!

  22. I love the green home and the location. It's lay-out is fabulous and the upkeep seems easy enough. Good Luck to all the entrants, including moi. Happy Easter!

joanie on March 21, 2008 at 11:58 pm
  23. The green home has got my respect from the design team, builders, architects and anyone else involved in the process. I’m big on recycling and try to make a difference every day to help the environment. This house would be my very first owned home, going on age 50. Best of luck to all that enter.

Cyndi Roberts on March 22, 2008 at 12:54 am
  24. I agree with another comment I just read. If you wont to give something away that is worth while, give the winner the plans and cash for the house of their dreams to be built whereever they wish. Most would build in there hometown where they could afford the upkeep.

Anonymous on March 22, 2008 at 1:58 am
  25. The Green Home is ABSOULTLEY Beautiful! I will be sure to enter everyday and hope to win!! To entrants that have negative coments towards hgtv and the dream home or even the green home, DON’T ENTER! This is a sweepstakes, A SWEEPSTAKES! Reading through the blogs i can not believe some of the negative things posted.
    Good Luck!
KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK HGTV!! Designed to sell, can you please come visit please???

  26. HGTV is so addicting – have to watch it every day and love the rooms the designers create! I have never won a thing in my life and would so love to have a shot at the green house win!! I thought you could only enter once on the past home in FLA, so you can bet I’ll be entering the “green” home contest every day!! Thanks so much for having HGTV – even though nothing sinks into my head when it comes to redecorating!!!

  27. I watch HGTV every day. I Love to watch the different ideas that they show, and ideas they have for each and every room.

  28. I love the location of the green home. Last year our family tried for the 1st time to win the dream home… After that my son said how crazy it would be if the house would be located on Hilton Head (We vacation there every year). So I guess our wish came true. Im actually typing this from Hilton Head Right now as my son is on spring break and we decided it would great to come down to Hilton Head:) While we were driving down my son spotted the green home and we were all shocked. Our wish came true and whoever the winner is(Hopefully us….) you will enjoy this house on the beautiful island. We have been coming here for nearly 20 years and my husband and I have been coming here. And now with my son for the past 13. The idea of the eco. friendly home is great and supports and helps the reduce of all of our ecological footprint. Good luck to everyone and the home looks wonderful.

  34. I agree with Shelia Childers… either build the give away home where the winner wants it to be located or give them a home that is completely paid off, taxes and all. These people will have to move away from jobs and or careers not to mention family and friends. It’s great to give away a house but if you can’t make a living in the new location then how can you make it a home. I have loved every home you’ve given away, but never entered to win because I thought ‘how would my husband and I make a living there?’ Seems like I remember the Dream home in Tyler Texas was lost to over due taxes…. what a shame. Not to mention what a loss like that could do to a family. Why not give away a home make over???? Now that’s something I’d enter to win. I do like all the great ideas you guys have… let’s just make it something more realistic. My cousin who lives in Key West wouldn’t even consider entering the contest… she’s aware of what the taxes are like down there.

JudithC on March 22, 2008 at 11:08 pm
  35. WOW! You out did yourself with this home. I can not wait to win on June 8th….. Make sure you have a EMT team standing by for when I faint.

    Good Luck Everyone!

  36. My husband and I are planning to add on to our little house, so we watch HGTV together alot. I watch it more. He always says that he does’nt think I could live without HGTV. He just might be right.

KathyLamtman on March 23, 2008 at 8:48 am
  37. Yes, this home looks beautiful. But to get technical, this home is NOT on Hilton Head. Hilton Head is an island, and this home is probably around 10 (or so) miles from the bridge that takes you to Hilton Head Island. I have noticed, though, that a lot of the businesses in the Tradition area use Hilton Head in their business names. I guess it just sounds better. I live in the area, so I’m aware of this. Good luck to everybody!

Kathy on March 23, 2008 at 9:42 am
  38. This is a beautiful home, and I’m sure everyone is anxious to find out who the lucky winner will be. I’m also aware of how disappointed many viewers were with the award presentation show for the “2008 Dream Home”. In contemplating this, I realized that much of what makes the HGTV network popular is the fact that viewers can relate to the people being featured—they’re real people with real dreams, problems, challenges, etc., who are presented with ideal solutions by HGTV. We all love watching and seeing ourselves in their place (even when the houses are ten times our price range.) The problem with the Dream Home presentation show is that the viewer is robbed of that interaction. The entire hour is spent in build up to a live presentation that is inevitably a let down because we never get to feel involved in the winner’s reaction to the home. Why not drop the “live” presentation, present the home to the winner prior to the announcement (still filming the “surprise” presentation), then spend a week letting us see the winner viewing their new home, cooking in the new kitchen, touring the community, playing in the yard with pets and children, lounging in the family area…in short, doing all those things we imagine ourselves doing if we would have won and allowing us to vicariously share in the winning of a beautiful home? I realize this might require changing some of the “rules, etc.” but for both the home winner and for the viewer, it would make for a much more satisfactory experience.

  41. Thanks HGTV for another chance to dream of winning such a beautiful home. I’m a southern girl that now lives in the midwest and would love to win and move closer back home. The home is beautiful, I have already imagine cooking breakfast and eating on the screen in porch I can’t wait. Good Luck to everyone!

  42. I think this is a wonderful way to make people like me have a chance at a dreams come true home. If it’s for me,I will win.
I entered before,it’s my time to win.

  45. Puleees!
HGTV is now showing the tv program for the house in Florida to be given away. I just got on-line to register for the house and lo and behold the house was already given away. Surprise, surprise!
Was this just a ploy to boost HGTV’s ratings? Nah! They wouldn’t do that, would they? (pure out and out sarcasm by the way) Oh and to you tv execs: this is Easter and ya’ll will have egg on your faces when you stand before the man.

John on March 23, 2008 at 9:45 pm
  46. At least I can afford the prize taxes for this one. The 2.2 million home would have been sold.

    Randy D on March 23, 2008 at 10:01 pm
  47. While I appreciate the effort to go green, I agree with some of the others that it’s a shame the home isn’t valued so the normal working class folk can afford to keep it. I guess selling it after winning would allow the winner to pay the taxes and perhaps build a green dream home of one’s own.

Julie on March 23, 2008 at 10:11 pm
  48. Ok! I watched the Green Home debut show and was disappointed. There was far to much about the shoping for furnishings than the structure itself. HGTV lost the opportunity to educate about Green building techniques. The tour was much to high paced. I got dizzy trying to keep with the panning of the camera. The show ended and I didn’t have a good feel for the floor plan, although I can tell you it sleeps six upstairs. But what about closet space, can anyone tell where the master closet is?

Erik on March 23, 2008 at 10:16 pm
  49. I love the way the house uses the natural resources for everyday living, everything is eco-friendly. This house would be perfect here in Puerto Rico too. Anyone would be happy to win such a beautiful house.
