humbled, is my first comment. embarrassed, is my second comment. i sent a critical-sounding blog weeks ago. only today, have i actually read your blogs. everyone is so positive and praying and hurting. i guess that includes me. i can only pray (to my higher power) that one day i will be in a position to help people like these.
thank you, Lord, for helping me to see through HGTV.

Marie Miller – I just sent up a prayer for your brother. Praying for God’s best in his life.
Angie
My husband would love to move into the beautiful Dream Home. He is on oxygen, but still loves to fish. It will be a very relaxing home for us to live in. We would never be able to buy a home like that. He is a retired Fire Chief, and and has always worked hard.He saved the life of one of his men, because the floor caved in and he risk his life by jumping in and pulling this fireman from a burning building. I pray that we could live in this beautiful home. We have children and grandchildren who would visit us
and enjoy the beach .Thank you for reading my comment. After 41 years of fighting, I would to give him a new SUV and this home. He drives a SUV that he has to keep spending on to keep it running . Thank you,
Alice Taylor
Dear Katydid: Thank you for your comment. The feelings I have about Ancient China & feng shai certainly were not meant to undermine their current crisis!! As I witnessed their news, I cried just looking at the pictures, it made me want to jump through the screen and start pulling away the concrete. I truely feel for the parents waiting for a sign of their childrens survival, and the horror they must have experinced when they discovered their own didn’t make it out alive. My heart goes out to all who suffer in this time off crisis. By the way, did you know that China gave $10 million for Myanmar aid? They may not be thinking about where to place their furniture, but they certainly know where the heart lies!! My prayers do indeed include a plea for help to all in need during our times of trials and tribulations!! I think that is why being involved in HGTV’s “give-aways” is such a refreshing idea…the thought of someone receiving a home like the 2009 Dream Home is beautiful! Thank you HGTV for a diversion from the world’s woes!! Marie Miller
To my biggest fan…Ruedi Jr.: Thank you for all your positive comments…However, there are many deserving people out there, including yourself! I’m not sure I deserve it more, but I truly know being closer to my family would make my life happier!! Thanks again!! Marie Miller
Why is that Senior Citizens never win anything.
I haver never known anyone from SC to win anything. I enjoy watching HGTV, in fact that is just about the only station my TV stays on. e.My husband and I would love to be able to live in that home.My husband is on oxygen , but he takes that oxygen and goes fishing. It would be a dream come true to be able to have a home near the water for both of us to sit on the screen porch and enjoy the view.
Thank you for all of your shows. I have a little insomnia and I watch you until the infomercial come on. toThanks for the chance to win the house of my dreams.
Hi y’all. Haven’t heard a word from HGTV about being a Green Home finalist. I guess they lost my entries, so I’ll just have to wait and focus my energies on DH09 now.
Despite the challenges (like not winning the Green Home, or even more serious setbacks) life goes on. I’m grateful for it all, plus I have my dreams, and they can’t be taken away!
Now, you didn’t win the Green Home either? Join the party anyway. Maybe you’re meant to win the DH09 instead.
When the chips are down, I always get a laugh from this quote by Anton Chekhov: “Any idiot can face a crisis—it’s this day-to-day living that wears you out!” I can relate to that one!
Dream Home 09 express, here we come. Sonoma or…well, Sonoma. Bust is not an option, ’cause there’s plenty of HGTV, and life, to keep us entertained.
I entered the contest on all the days I could post them.On the days when I was out of town and could not enter I entered twice to make up for the times I could not.To win a home of my own would be marvelous. My family and I have never owned a home.Thank you so much for the opportunity.
I can only dream that I might be the winner’ this would be the one time I ever won something’ I havent told my son that I entered this contest’ I will be happy for who ever wins this most wonderful home, I truly will’. thank you all for just the opportunity to enter in this sweepstakes. Diann Frere.
I am really looking forward to getting more info on the 09 Dream Home. I think Sonoma would be the ideal place to live. Does anybody else think that a huge laundry room is a crazy idea? Maybe if you can afford to live in a house like the Dream Home someone else does your laundry. Anyway, I would love to have a huge combination laundry room/craft room. It would have a huge central island to use for folding clothes and for a sewing machine. There would be lots of shelves for supplies for crafting too. I’d also like to have plenty of room to leave my ironing board out, not that I actually iron anything, but just incase. I thought about doing this in my home but I would have to remodel and take up alot of garage space. My husband doesn’t want me messing with any of his garage space though. Maybe in the Dream Home?
Dear fcole: Ahhhhhhhhh, it’s Monday morning & I can only wonder if we will have an update from Jack? Jack where are you? Do you have a progress film for us? How is the 2009 Dream Home coming along? One can only imagine how it will be built…will it have a large porch all around the outside in order to sit and sip a glass of wine in the early evenings & enjoy a beautiful sunset behind those georgeous Sonoma hills? Marie Miller
katydid, your comment to Marie Miller was not very nice. She was just talking about decorating ideas. I for one am very saddened by what has happened in China & Myanmar, but I feel we can dicuss decorating without people being offended. What happened over there has nothing to do with decorating. I donated money to help China but Myanmar was not taking donations at the time. Marie Miller, Best Wishes to your brother for a speedy recovery.
i wood love win
IT IS A BLESSING YOU GIVE TO SOME FAMILY TO OWN SOMETHING WHICH SOME MAY NEVER AFFORD ON THEIR OWN. GOD BLESS ALL THE FAMILY AT HGTV WHO THINK OF SUCH A GIFT. FOR ME IT WOULD BE MORE THAN A BLESSING AND A DREAM COME TRUE. I LOVE ALL OF YOUR SHOWS. WHEN I GO HOME AT NIGHT I STAY UP UNTIL 3AM TO SEE ALL MY FAVORITES. LOVE ALL OF YOU. THANKS
Thanks for making a dream come true for one lucky person!
Very exciting!
Good luck to all!
I would also like to thankyou for the joy and entertainment I receive watching all the programs. Design on a dime, DIY network, landscapers challenge and fine dining. I don’t want to sound like a couch potato but, I allocate at least some freetime to daydream about things I need to do to my home. I call all of this and walking into Home Depot Michael Jacksons fantasy land. We all do it fanticize about what we would like to see in our home.
Thankyou for offering these homes. I am due to retire in another 10 years and working near the cold all day would love to warm up my body to some warm climate.
I so enjoy your show. Thanks for all the great ideas. Good luck to all.
Awesome give aways. The homes are beautifully decorated and built. It’s nice to see the expressions on the winners, hey you never know it could you or it could be me! Keep it up HGTV, I love your shows, I’m addicted!
About 8yrs. ago I gotten a divorce. I didn’t know what to do. My Husband wouldn’t leave the house or let me have what was mine. So my little boy and I found this little house that needed alot of TLC. Boy I didn’t know what I was in for. It’s been 8yrs. and I don’t think I got what it takes to finish our old GRANNY HOUSE. We need gutters, solfit, new eves, and a new roof. Ours is the oldstyle tin roof. Theres other things that need to be done, but this home has made me and my son happy. A new DREAM HOME, new START would be a WONDERFUL POWERFUL EXPERIENCE OF A LIFETIME.
WISHES CAN COME TRUE!!
Melody L. Mynes
Dear fcole: Tomorrow is Friday…does that mean we might get a sneak preview of the plans for the 2009 Dream Home in Sonoma? Will there be a film also to show us the progress on-site? I’m so excited to see what type of home will be built. Sonoma, where there are acres of rolling vineyards, is such a georgeous backdrop for any style home, especially basic Arts & Crafts designs by Steve Ledson. I can only imagine enjoying peaceful sunsets on the veranda of the 2009 Dream Home, and loving the weather there, which is in an exquisite state of balance…there is no better way to enjoy the fragrance of out-of-doors!!! Marie Miller
Thanks HGTV, and your sponsers. Your Giveaways, give so many people a chance to dream! For a few minutes a day, we don’t think about anything. That is except for “The Green House”. Life has such stress anymore, its wonderful to dream for a few minutes…I’m sure anyone winning will be so happy and grateful.
Morning all. Hey I would move to Sonoma. Don’t know anything about the area, but it sure would be fun exploring.
i hope is somone the really need it,
To my special bloggers!!!
“This is the beginning of a new day.
I have been given this day to use as I will.
I can waste it or use it for good.
What I do today is important because I’m exchanging a day of my life for it.
When tomorrow comes, this day will be gone forever, leaving in its place whatever I have traded for it.
I pledge to myself that it shall be gain, not loss; good, not evil; success, not failure; in order that I shall not regret the price I paid for this day.”
Have a GREAT day & a FANTASTIC weekend!! Marie Miller
Anonymous: Are you Mr. Green Jeans? I thought not, but too many people can use that signature. I wish you would call yourself Mystery Man…sounds so romantic. Ooops, what if you are female, but I doubt that too. Marie Miller, thanks for asking fcole to explain the clues, particularly the Monopoly Board. But he seldom does that, maybe even doesn’t know himself. Marie, please know that I am praying for your brother and will continue to do so. Coop: Where are you? Hope you are well. Prayers for you also. FCOLE: We need more information on the Dream Home. Floor plans…when? Picture of Jack on the site…when? Please! We need more to keep our dreams alive.
Dear fcole: Another Friday has rolled by, and nothing new here at DH2009!! That’s okay though ’cause it gave way for me to check out all the “Green” ideas & tips for conservation on the Green Home Give-Away site!! We are all anxiously awaiting June 8th to see who the lucky person will be to win the beautiful home in South Carolina!! When do they actually contact the winner? I will be on the road between June 5th and June 15th…should I worry about how they will contact me?? Miss you fcole…hope your weekend is full of all the things that you love. Marie Miller
Hello everyone. I am new to HGTV Blog, but a HGTV fan since day one! I just want to wish everyone good luck with the HGTV Dream Home 2009. Every house that has been featured has been awesome! 2009 is no exception. Good Luck to us all!
The Green House has some really great ideas in it that I can use in my 1900 “old southern farmhouse”…my house has been through all the serious hurricanes in south Louisiana and is in great shape, so I know it is worth the investment of time, love, and money…thanks for the Green House segments…very useful stuff here.
You have no idea wha this dream house will mean to me.This will make me the happiest person on this planet. However even if I do not win, I wish the most deserving person get it.Good Luck to all!!!
Good Luck Everyone !!!!!

Good Morning Katydid: I was really surprised to find your comments on my “Rate My Space!” I really appreciated your comments & have always enjoyed reading your blogs! Please check back on the “Mermaid” site to see what inspires me each and every day! I can’t begin to tell you how blessed I feel each and every day…my husband and I retired 4 years ago from Stockton, California, and living by the ocean is HEAVEN!! I am thankful each & every day! However, my decorating is coming up short…with only 2.4 stars, I know I need help!! Anyway, thanks again & have a wonderful day!! Marie Miller
I entered everyday. wishing to win this GREEN HOME, ‘coz we’re more than 2 years living with my in-laws, how terrible to live with… I would be very happy and blessed if I win the HG. I keep on praying that if it’s not for me… Somebody will win it, who needed more than me.
It’s beautiful in NY but I wouldn’t mind a new home in a warm climate someday soon. I will keep entering and hope for the luck of the Irish!
Deear fcole: I’m hoping that you will be posting soon…I am going out of town from June 5th to June 15th & would at least like to see the plans for the DH2009 before I leave. Are you putting together a little video of the progress going on at the building site?? I’m anxiously awaiting something new from Jack!! We are all holding our breath to see who the winner is of the “Green Home!” To everyone: “Bonne chance” & “Bonne journée!” Marie Miller
I watch the show everyday…I even record all the shows, lol. If I could when this house it would really be a dream come true for me, because I really do need a house! But whoevever wins it will be terribly blessed. The house is the most beautiful house i have ever seen and i would be honored and greatly appreciative to win and live in this house!!!
HeyGuy’sMy sister told me about this home,so I’m
giving it a try
All my life I’ve dreamed of living in SC. I was so excited when I saw the Green House, I’ve entered every chance I could. My son passed several years ago a I had always promised him one day we would be in SC. I since have had another son and re-married to a wonderful man and we would love to settle and live the rest of our lives in this wonderful home. Thank you for all of your excellent shows. We watch all the time! Hope to see you in SC.
It would be so great for our family to win one of the Hgtv give aways. We have faced alot of sadness over the past 7 years and it doesn't end. I lost my youngest sister to luekemia and she left 3 young daughters. She was a twin and the other sister also came down with cancer 6 months later. SHe has had treatment for 3 years straight and now I just learned her cancer is back again. Our whole family needs a place to get away from all the hard times we are going thru and have a great place to just get away from everything. The home in hilton head Ga would be great being my oldest son lives 40 minutes from there and I only get to see him so seldom.
I AM REALLY EXCITED TO SEE WHO WINS THE GREEN HOME. IF ITS NOT MY FAMILY ITS OK THERES 2009 HOME CONTEST THAT I WILL BE PUTTING FOR AS WELL.WHO EVER WINS THE GREEN HOME I WANT TO SEND MY CONGRATS TO THE FAMILY.GOD BLESS AND ENJOY YOUR BEAUTIFUL HOME.
Dear fcole I just figured out that I watch at least 3 hours of HGTV every day!! Calculated that is about 21 hours a week, or 1100 hours a year!! This is now my new job after retiring!! WOW!! Do you realize that I am obsessed with each program…I guess Anon was right about my obsessions, but I love HGTV & can’t seem to ever get enough!
It looks like you are not going to post anything new before I take off for a ten-day trip to see relatives…I will be sweating it out while on the road..not being able to check for any new blogs, etc. (Talk about moving my cheese!!)!! My sister-in-law does not even own a computer..can you believe that…this will be like an intervention to my compulsive behavior with HGTV…ooops…she does have a TV, so maybe I will convince her to tune in…I know for sure, she will have to tune in on June 8th to see who the lucky winner of the “Green Home” will be!!
Until I return….Au revoir & A bientôt!!! Marie Miller
(Hey Marie, hang on. New post coming in a few minutes. fc)
Thank you fcole: I missed you sooooo much!!
My special “thank yous” to Katydid & Angie for the prayers for my brother..he’s doing pretty good & continues the golf swings as he ambles around the house!! You are all angels in disquise & I appreciate your words of comfort!! I’ll miss blogging for about 10 days…you’ll probably enjoy the Reprieve!! Thanks again!! Marie Miller
Marie Miller: Hope you read this before you leave on your trip. I don’t speak French, but I wish you Bon Voyage…what I mean in English, have a safe and happy trip. We will miss you. Just had a thought, if you find a Library, they might have a computer to hook-up and go on line. Hope you were able to see fcole’s post about the floor plans. If not, they will be a pleasant surprise when you get home. Until then, may God keep you safe.
Do people think this is Extreme Home Make Over?
I’ve never heard such desperation and sad stories to try and win a contest that is randomly selected. If your so down and out how do you think your going to pay taxes, association fees, insurance and maint cost. Nothing in life is free!
66 years old…Never won anything…I guess I’m just a dreamer
I visited the Tradition homesite while on a trip to Hilton Head and love the house. Hilton Head and surrounding area of South Carolina is my favorite vacation spot. I entered the contest every day and am keeping fingers crossed. Good luck to all who entered also!
I hope we all win a dream home someday, according to the law of attraction if we put out positive thoughts, energy, positive energy returns to us, I do however think that surrounding yourself with people who are negative, runs interference, putting off negative energy and ruining your positive flow.So be careful who you hang with, forgive anyone who has ever done you wrong, move on, do not focus on the negative, be thankful to the higher power for what you do have and thank him/her often, do in life what makes your heart sing, if you hate your job, think of what you do like and find a job that is connected in some way to what you do like, and you will not want to leave your job at the end of the day if your getting paid for something that you love to do, what more could you ask in a job? If I win the house, all my friends and family will be welcome to vacation there. I work very hard as a single mother RN that does not collect child support, because he has enough hard time taking care of himself, and if I was in his position, it would be inhumane of him to charge me for something that would cause me to live in poverty. Do unto others as you would have done unto you, the judge and lawyers could not believe it, I told them that if he can afford it, he will support her in any way he can, and he has. Good luck people.
I dream of winning and pray everyday and night. Location is the best, I would be a hop skip away from my son and family whom we get to see -rarely. My grand daughter will be 4 this July. What a joy it would be to celebrate her birthday while her daddy is away in the Navy. The grandkids could come stay with gamma and gampa. My grandson ,16, would just be in heaven as well as daughter (in-law). Please answer our prayers.
