  5. Thank you all for making next year DH possible in Sonoma. The floor plan is very very nice. I feel like I am already in the house when I first glance at the floor plan. Our families wanted me and my new family to move back to Sonoma for years, but can’t ever to afford anything around that area. When you’ve been living in compacted space for so many years(1100sq.ft) for 7 people, so by looking at the floor plan alone, I always dream of someday living in a place where I can breath a bit easier. I hope next year I will have a house-warming in Sonoma and invited all our families and friends and making this occasion possible after 14 long years!

  8. When does the 2009 HGTV Dream Home Sweepstakes begin? Islamorada was a fantastic 2008 dream home location; I didn’t think you could top it, but you just may have with Sonoma! I’m ready to start entering!

  9. I have to say first off, that all the homes are very unique and innovative in their own way. HGTV has really built some amazing homes in some spectacular sites. Tyler Texas is my favorite HGTV Dream Home, so far. It truly out shines the rest. To me, it incorporates all the elements of a dream home and a dream life style. By the way, that is saying a lot from a girl whose first love is the ocean. CAgirl

  10. This looks like its going to be a lovely home. My favorite Dream Homes will always be 1997, 2005 & 2006. To me, those were REAL Dream Homes. They not only had a fabulous location they also had some pretty dreamy features. I did think last years Dream Home had a dreamy location. I wonder if there will be a surprize room in this years Dream Home or a surprize feature. Hmmmmmmm, I’m thinking that they might have something up thier sleave with that unattached garage. I mean, why else would it be unattached in this day and age? Is there going to be a portico over the door? Reality is that someone is going to have to haul groceries into that house and personally I’d rather not have the sun beating down on me or get soaked from rain while I do it since the garage is not attached. I’m betting Jack has something in mind to address this issue. This years Dream Home master bedroom looks big enough to put a king size bed in without making the room look tiny. The master bath and closet also look like they will be good sized. I hope they will do his and her sinks in the master bath instead of a double sink vanity. Don’t get me wrong, I want the vanity storage, I just don’t want to have to share. :) I hope they are going to let us vote on more features for the home. I really enjoyed doing it for the Blog Cabin. I got to choose some nice high end things without having to pay for them. What’s not to like about that?

  11. My favorite dream home so far is #10 in Lake Lure, NC. The master suite got my attention right from the start. I love the mountains and the view from everywhere inside and outside of that home is spectacular.

  13. My favorite is the low country “Red Roofed Cottage” from 1998. Still the best, IMO. Enjoyed the hosting, too.

  17. I love the ocean, but there was something about the Lake Lure, NC house that had me dreaming. I loved the rustic feel and the views were amazing. I haven’t read the blog for months, and it’s nice to see some of the same people still here. The daughter’s wedding and work have kept me busy this summer, but the dream home has been in the back of my mind. It looks like it’s time to take a drive by the home; it’s really coming along and I find myself getting excited.
    Cheers!!!

  23. Greetings all.
Me and the hubby took a ride to Sonoma today and I was surprised to see all the landscaping completed and the house looks almost done inside. I went up and peeked through that big front door and WOW! There’s the fireplace front and center, as you walk in. I loved the grey blue color of the living room and the golden walls of family room with those dark wood floors was spectacular. The porch has wonderful black iron lights that look perfect against the white house. They left the majestic oak in the front which gives you the impression the house has been there for years. I think the surprise this year is the little vinyard in the back corner of the yard.
I tried to bribe the man working there to let me go through the house, but he was honest. Shame on me!
As we ate our lunch, we couldn’t help discussing the cost of someone keeping the house. Comparable houses in Armstrong Estates are going for about 3 million, so we figured taxes are going to run about $3,800 a month, figuring they’re the same rate as Napa County, and that doesn’t include any HOA, if there is any. The house is certainly worth it though. It really is a gorgeous home. I know the odds of winning one of these homes, but if I won this one, I’m packing my bags.
    Cheers!!!

  25. Just saw the house today in Sonoma. Looks great although I heard one local complain that the lot doesn’t look large enough to include a pool. Can’t wait to see the interior.

  26. Good Morning Franklin & Good Morning all my fellow bloggers!! Well, I had a more than interesting trip to California!! It was busy with family & friends & two weddings..back to back from weekend to weekend!! However, the most exciting event was visiting the HG2009 Dream Home!!! WOW!! WOW!!! What an absolutely breathtaking home!! I have to tell you….that home looks like it has always been there!! It is so A-Typical of a victorian farm house…I am so in love with it…I had a hard time ripping myself out from in front of it…I want to live in it & I want to live in Sonoma!! Sonoma has grown since I lived in the area & HGTV has produced a home that fits perfectly into the whole neighborhood!! And, I have to tell you, I can’t believe the home that Steve Ledson lives in…it is huge & so beautiful….it takes your breath away!! The HGTV 2009 Dream Home is full of excitement…from the wood plank floors and detailed trim of beauty and elegance to all the rooms. The parlor and wrap around porch are gathering places where guests are invited to pause and enjoy some refreshment in the afternoons. The rooms are spacious, warm and welcoming. Since this is a Victorian farm home, it looks as though each guest room has it own unique personality. To quote: “The architecture of the Victorian Age tells us more about the men who made it than does any other architecture in history. It made such very definite statements about life.” This modern home recalls the golden Victorian Age & I am in love with it & it is my dream to live in it!! My stroll along the streets of Sonoma only lends itself to the reality of my desire to participate!! The one architectural design element that most impressed me was the front porch. It depicts the Farmhouse designs featuring a large, deep, wrapping country porch, which was originally designed to help cool the interior of the home, while providing a shady spot to rest from daily chores. Farmhouse homes typically have a large family gathering area, a “country kitchen” and a cluster of bedrooms on the upper level. This is the best “Dream Home” yet HGTV!! Thank you to each and every person involved in this dream come true!!! I LOVE HGTV!! Marie Miller

  27. Yay! Reading about the deep porch, the wood floors, fireplace and the majestic oak? I am having a vision of me doing the I Love Lucy impression of stomping grapes :-) Makes me forget about the “T” word sssshhh taxes.

  28. I just watched the video of the women who won HGTV’s dream home sweepstakes (Florida)and I just cannot believe her reaction to being the winner of something so fabulous. She did not look one bit surprised or greatful. Even if she was already clued in that she had won, she should have at least showed a little more enthusiasm and appreciation than that. She didn’t even look happy and wore a fake smile.

  29. My favorite was the house in Maine. I believe my husband and I discovered the road it was built on but years before your show. The area I'm referring to is a very small dirt road near Camden where you smell the salt of the ocean and the pines of the forest at the same time. I go there in my mind very often.

  31. I love DH05 the most, but not sure about living in Texas again.

Loved the Lake Lure DH06 house next. I REALLY wanted that house.

But of course being that I live in CA, close to Sonoma and just LOVE it here, DH09 is going to be my true favorite.

  33. Wow, getting to choose a favorite Dream Home when they are all SO amazing and beautiful in their own way is NOT easy, but that being said, there is such a peaceful feeling about the Lake Lure, North Carolina home. Every little detail comes through to say “home sweet home”, each room is amazing…how could anyone ever get bored with this most interesting floor plan? The furnishings are so perfectly chosen and sophisticated, yet connect so well with the natural surroundings of the spectacular country side. And oh how amazing the views are from all those windows and those porches! There is just something about clean mountain air, green hills and dappled sunlight on a breath-taking home beholding God’s paradise!

  34. Yes,I am so glad these videos are available!!I love watching every episode of the Dream Home Give Aways! It is a dream of mine and my daughters (ages15&10…I am 36) to own a new home SO BreathTaking and utterly Gorgeous!Somewhere to feel so Cozy and Comfortable…There’s no place like home.!!We’re Praying Alot here in Pennsylvania!!I do own a home…but it is a very small(918 sq ft)& modest, but cute 3 bedroom & 1 bath,60′s ranch style home.I am very thankful for what we do have though.I’m not one to complain. I really appreciate the things we do have and thank god daily.Being that the economy is so unstable, and I am a disabled veteran on a very fixed income. It seems to be getting harder and harder to make ends meet each and every day.But wow how lucky was that guy who won that Gorgeous resort in colorado?God Bless him and all the winners! It’s such a wonderful feeling seeing people’s dreams come true especially in times like these! Thanks HgTv!!
