  2. HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
    I watched the videos {yes, all of them} so I could take my time and make my choices to vote so here goes.
    Kitchen-2006
    Diningroom-2004
    Master Suite-2003
    Livingroom-2005
    Kids Room-2003 {the sleeper car type beds were way cool and the decor could be for either sex}
    Guestroom-2002 {I liked the Dockhouse in 2005 too but it wasn’t in the top 5 for some reason}
    Fun Space-2006
    Best Location-1999 {this and the next were the hardest choices}
    Best View-2006 {I also liked this location best but it just wasn’t close enough to the water}
    Outdoor Space-2005 {I also liked this kitchen but it wasn’t one of the top five}
    Best Retreat-2006
    Doggy Dream Home-2006
    I liked the elevator in 2005 since handicapped people weren’t ignored and I loved the pool but it doesn’t beat a floating lake house. I thought the secret bookcase/media room in an earlier home was pretty cool but it just isn’t cool enough to trump a gameroom with a full size pooltable and dartboard. These are my choices and I’ll do my best to stick to em. :)

  3. 2008 Green Home & 2009 Sonoma Dream Home Top Favorites Thus Far… However I longed to win the Winter Park Colorado Dream Home. Anyway, I can hardly wait until next week!!! Call it an inkling… I think in the next couple months this blog will heat-up and once the contest starts this blog will be on FIRE!!! 911-911 LOL fcole can handle it.

    But for now back to the goings-on at ‘Dream Home Sonoma’ one can only imagine the laughter and positive energy that will generate from Sonoma when all these wonderful folks get together and do their thing! Finally!!! I say, give us some creativity run-a-muck. In all seriousness this home is truly exquisite and the interior designs will reflect each individual design masters strengths & creative talents… I also feel a subtle touch from us all will be incorporated in this dream home… those that dared to dream and post their thoughts right alongside (via-fcole’s blog) HGTV’s Dream Team & Sponsors. 4. I wonder how much the insurance and the property taxes cost for a year when owning the dream home. Just the cost of running the electricity in a house like that is enough to make some people go broke!

  6. After watching the video’s of all the past DH’s again I think that DH09 is going to be the most modest.
    It doesn’t have the views and it is much smaller.

    It doesn’t look at all like a vacation home and it very close to town.

    I like the house a lot, but a lot is because of the location. I just love Sonoma, and it’s close to where I live.

    But it is not the biggest or the most beautiful house in the neighborhood.
    It’s not going to stand out like the Dream Homes in the past.

    But it’s a home I would LOVE to own.

  7. I loved the dreamy bedrooms of the Lake Lure home 2006

  8. I liked the dream home montage FC and Monica. I can’t help but say that overall the NC home is my personal favorite dream home altogether. But I do have favorites things from each home! If you combined my favorites from each home, well then you’d have my ultimate dream home if money were no object for me. Sincerely though, My most appreciated feature in the dreamhomes was the elevator. For the handiness of it, simply for carrying loads up and down and the convenience it created for wheelchairs and the elderly. Just having an elevator in all of these dreamhomes would enable all to really enjoy these homes more. You have the budget to include one so why not do it! Also I believe Hgtv should rethink where they build & locate the homes at. So that families can take advantage of the opportunity of winning such a famous home and use it for business pleasures, such as 5 star vacation rentals or so they could run a bed and breakfast, live in it, & make money and pay for the upkeep. Actually keep it! This would enable all who want to & can enjoy it and share in the home. Make all that time and money really help the winning family!

  9. Here are my picks!!!
    Kitchen & dining room hands down NC
    I loved the the big round table. It was perfect for casual or formal entertainment.
    Master Bedroom style & view …. NC
    Master Bath loved both the 2003 and 2008 big tubs and awesome showers!
    Great room…. it was a toss up between 2005 and 2007 Love the big lodge look and I really loved
    Open flow feel of the GA home, centrally located between the dining and kitchen.
    Kids room~ the NC bunk house and bath and the western cow girl room.
    Guest Room Loved NC
    Fun Room~ Co and Tx
    Best view ~ NC Seeing those blueridge mountains and lake lure & relaxing on those porches.
    Best Retreat~ outdoor on the lake in TX fishing and boat riding, hanging out in the boat house.
    Cool rooms
    I really want both the fishing room “dad’s office” from the Miami house and the craft room “mom’s keep busy retreat” from the CO house!
    Love the canine cabana, because it can be used by the kids too!
    Favorite out door things was the outdoor living room in the NC home and the out door tub and shower, just add a privacy screen with an outdoor fireplace or fire pit nearby.

  10. Okay, I’ve gone back through the years and toured the best of the best with all the clips featuring kitchens, living rooms, bedrooms and more….but, I have to tell you, I’ve got my favorite!! It has to be the DH2009!! This is my home, this is my style, this is the best of the best!! You cannot improve on excellence & the Sonoma home has it all! I’ve never been more excited about anything in my life (okay it’s up there with the birth of my twins)!! Thank you HGTV for all the dreams…”YES WE CAN!!” Marie Miller

  11. My favorite of all is the Islamorada home (DH08). I fell in love with it from day one. There are things that I liked about the other homes, but that one just stole my heart. From the location to the concept of the entire community to the floor plan to the decor. I really loved it all. I have not really been following the Sonoma home (DH09)due to the fact that I really don’t like CA and I have had a busy/bad year. Oh, I think it is beautiful country, but I don’t want to live there. Everyone was crying about the taxes and cost of living in the Keys, what do you think it will be in Sonoma CA. Crazy!! I will still watch the special on HGTV for it, but it is not for me. I love HGTV and watch it all the time and will wait til next years (DH10) Dream Home. Good luck to everyone.

  12. My favorite dream home of all time is the Lake Lure home. I loved everything about it, the location, every room, the view…but this year’s dream home is shaping up to be something really fabulous and I have a feeling it will be my new favorite when it’s done. It is smaller, but I actually like that because it seems like the winner might be able to afford to keep it this time and keep it up.

  13. This may not be common knowledge, and I don’t know if it has been discussed on any of the HGTV boards, but Land Resource (the developer behind the St. Marys, GA and Lake Lure, NC Dream Homes) has recently gone under as of August. This has left the Lake Lure, NC HGTV Dream Home sitting by itself in the middle of the community (Grey Rock), with very little roads, infrastructure, amenities, and virtually no other homes built. Meanwhile, the 400 people that have bought lots there are completely up the creek and uncertain about what is going to happen to the community. I bought a lot down the road from the Dream Home, and now have a worthless property, left high and dry by Land Resource.

  14. When do we start entering to winn the 2009 HGTV Dream Home?

  15. The Tyler, Tx. home is only a couple of miles from me. When I toured it, I didn’t like it since I am not into the Texas decor and the kitchen was way too small. However, the pool and backyard and boat house were absolutely wonderful. Everyone I was on the tour with wanted to LIVE in the boat house.

  16. I loved the traditional style of the kitchen and dining room in the 2004 dream home. However, to make the perfect kitchen, I would add the hidden appliance as in the 2005 dream home. I love the high beams, rivets and the comfortable lodge like feeling of the 2005 home. Unfortunately I could not download the master suites video. I loved have loved the 2006 kids bedroom and think any kid would love to show this room off to his friends.

    I think the traditional style would be nice with the 2009 Dream Home in Sonoma but I think a Tuscan type of decor would be better. Perhaps a mix of both styles.

  18. They are all so beautiful and each one has something special to offer, but my favorite was the one with the private swimming pool. Still, I can’t wait to see the DH09 finished and furnished.
    There’s something about those porches…ummmmm.
    Keep on doing what you’re doing, we love you, HGTV.

  19. Wow–all the dream homes are truly that–dreams! Still, “the one that got away” for me is the ’06 Lake Lure, NC house. My second runner up is the ’05 Tyler Tx house. My overall two least favorites have been ’08 FL and ’02 MD–but I would still love to have them!

  20. I hear that the Lake Lure dream home 2006 is on the market for 1.5 million. The Grey Rock development is in chapter 11 as of Nov 1, 2008. The county will be responsible for road construction via bonds. But no other infrastructure, or improvements are bonded.
