  1. Thanks goodness I have my eyes set on winning the 2009 Dream Home, especially since seeing the exclusive video series that Jack Thomasson and Linda Woodfrum revealed about the Colorado dream home…I can’t ski…so, that would have made anyone’s jaw drop watching me try to get in and out of the place!! My “myle’s of style” is the Sonoma setting…wine, dine & party…that’s my motto!! Thank you for the inside scoop on all the georgeous dream homes of the past, however, I still love Sonoma the best…after all, that’s where my family lives!! Marie Miller

  3. Dear Gail: How are things going in Sonoma? Question: When will we see a video of the inside of the DH2009 all decorated & full of the furnishings that I believe will carry on the tradition of the “Farm House?” The curiosity is killing me!! Will we have to wait for this to be our Christmas gift from HGTV…the BIG REVEAL? Have a GREAT day!! Marie Miller

  4. What a great assortment of Dream Home videos and stories from Jack and Linda. Let’s see:
2007, Winter Park, CO—the winner’s winter challenge; to ski in with four bags of groceries, and in my case, be carried out on a stretcher. (That makes two of us, Marie.)
2006, Lake Lure, NC—Nina the construction dog with quite a tall “tail” to tell about the oversize dog sculpture.
2005, Tyler, TX—a “beehive” of activity, including the producer’s surprise pool party, while Linda was kept looking for a “lift”.
2004, St Marys, GA—Jack’s great story about the helicopter and the “peeping” HGTV staffers, the HGTV version of “can you hear me now”, plus Jack switches hats once again to become the official Dream Home security guard/bouncer.
2003, Mexico Beach, FL—the treacherous 4 1/2 mile slippin n slidin HGTV version of a Baja motocross, along with Jack’s near tragic hot tub incident.
And finally, 2001, Camden, ME—Linda’s painful push/pull over the painter’s palette, her delightful holy “oreo” cow, and lottsa lowdown on the luscious lobster.
How delightful to have so many great memories “on the job” and better yet sharing them with fans.
PS: Hope my two comments on the previous thread didn’t get lost in all the excitement of putting this morning’s videos online for all to enjoy. Expect they’ll turn up soon. Thanks for all your work Mary, and of course, to you Gail.

  7. i am so excited that the DH2009 is in Sonoma!!!! My husband just started making wine last year. We just started bottling it. Just a couple months ago we were looking to move to a part of California that has a lot of winary’s around! A couple of days ago somthing told my daughter to look at the HGTV website. She did and we were shocked to know that the HGTV DH2009 is in Sonoma! We have relatives that live very close by Sonoma that we never get to see often cause we live in NJ. So i hope this DH2009 changes my family’s life!

  12. Jack told Linda that they should go back to Maine for the food. Could it be a hint for DH10 or could I be reading too much into it, Hmm?

  13. Linda & Jack loved the trip down memory lane and seeing the inside scoop and hearing all the buzz behind the scenes! Alot of fun you guys have had and are still having! Playing peek~a~boo & hide~n~seek with the helicopter film crew. Fess up you guys know that has some real funny outtakes from all the face making you guys did! Like kids in the backseat of the car, I saw that tongue( LOL!) That’s real funny! Sorry about that landscaping; how many times did you replant those palm trees? Oreo cows (hee hee!) Thanks for making me laugh today!

  14. I LOVE THE HOUSE!

LUISA on December 2, 2008 at 5:37 pm
  15. It’s a beautiful house, but one again HGTV has not taken into consideration “The Graying of America” (Many in our society are 65 or older) or those that use a wheelchair or have other physical limitations. What’s wrong with designing a home that accessible to everyone? That means one story (or multi-story with a elevator), wide door openings entries (36″), ramp entry, etc.

Brian Spavin on December 2, 2008 at 9:43 pm
  16. It’s the stories behind the projects that make the memories! Thanks for sharing some of them and persevering through the difficulties. There has truly been a home for everyone’s taste. Each year I’m so excited to see the new location but always secretly wishing the house would be in California. I figured the high costs in California prevented you from doing a house as spectacular as you wanted. But what people don’t realize is in California it’s the location, people, weather and positive attitude that makes it so amazing!!! Thanks for making my wish and choosing a Calif. location. Can’t wait to see the finished house. Hope it’s my family on the front porch enjoying a glass of wine in the most perfect home in wonderful northern California!!!

  17. I watched them all and enjoyed it! Thank you HGTV! My favorate dream home was Main,I loved the red windows and red furniture.I loved the birch trees and all the flowers.I loved the drive up appeal and the private drive way.I loved the shape of the house and I loved loved the out side dining porch and the kitchen with the eat in breakfast nook and the island and built in’s.
I loved the way the show was produced and the music they played,it was so peace full and I remember how Linda came across, she loved the place and you could see it and hear it in her voice, see even looked tear eyed when talking to the other Lady about how special the place was upon arrival.

  19. hello:
Just a couple of questions. I didn’t notice solar panels on the roof. Is there a reason that solar panels were not used in sunny California?
Also, I noticed that the back yard is not fenced in. Are fences allowed? Having a couple of wild and rambunctious dogs, I can only imagine what kind of trouble they would get in if they were not confined behind a fence when we weren’t at home.

  20. This is my Favorite of all the Dream Homes. The Location is perfect, being as I am a CA born and raised in the Bay Area. My Hubby and our Family have spent the last 18 yrs. living in Lake co.
I have always loved Sonoma. The Town has such Charm just like this Beautiful Home you have created there.I can’t find the words there is just not enough to explain how I feel about the Beauty and the way you put so much Love into the Building of this Gorgeous place. The Landscaping is simply Spectacular. I Love the Claw Foot tub in the Master Bath. The wrap around Porch. Classic. It actually reminds me of a home that my Dads family had in NC. When I was Young.
I could see my Hubby and I sitting out there on the Porch on a Swing on a warm summers evening.
Having big get togethers in the Back.Barbecuing on that Beautiful Grill. It is so big we could probably all fit. Our 4 kids and all their kids and My Mom.
It has been tough the past 6yrs. for us since the last 5 of them I have had 5 back surgery’s. Keep braking those 21 inch titanium rods in the back.Hopefully this last one ends the surgery’s.
What a way to live the rest of our lives in a Beautiful Home like this one. Wow would I be Proud to invite Guests here. It’s Breathtaking and so Serene.I’m so in Love with it’s Charm
I like to Dream Big and Maybe one time, one of my Dreams will actually come true. Who knows maybe this will be when I get my Dream. lol

  21. Note to Brian re: greying of America-drove by the ’08 Green house site the other day-it seems like it’s going ot be on one level and it’s in a great community.

  22. I grew up in Sonoma. The home is on the east side. Close to the square. Decent area. People just might to keep in mind that prices of homes have fallen in the area. What HGTV has quoted a few months ago could have dropped 200k or more in a few months after.

  23. This house is beyond anything I could of thought up. I love it! Now scratching my head in how to incorporate some of these ideas in my home,
    Which I just paid off,
but “design on a dime” sort of way.
They have made this home suitable for every one.
though I may try a snow mobile instead of skiing
    at my age.
I wonder if the winner would donate their present home if they won?

  24. The new dream home is amazing. We are dog lovers and our little border collie/golden retriever rescue dog would just love residing in the new home and meeting Nina. What a great story. The new dream home interior and exterio style is just fabulous. They just keep getting more spectacular. Keep up the fabulous work. I just love every design!
