Jack’s Favorite Moment …

Better late than never! As promised, we’re proud to present an exclusive video series that features Jack and Linda’s all-time favorite HGTV Dream Home moments. Watch the series, then tell us what you consider the very best HGTV Dream Home ever built. I think mine would have to be 2002, simply because I’ve spent so much vacation time along the Delaware and Maryland shores. I can’t wait to read your thoughts!

  1. Really this is amazing, this house ii a replica of my current home (color wise) you can find almost all the colors in my home. My family and I will definitely feel at home in this house. My boys were planning sharing their room right now while my little princess (3yrs) takes a room to herself so this still works. This is WOW! Marvelous job HGTV team – Kudos to you all

  2. Oh yes!!!!!
Just LOVE IT! The Master Bedrom is just so beautiful, and to think, I didn’t like the color when I first saw it. Linda made it really come together. It looks so elegant, and of course..dreamy.

The herb garden is the best. My father always had a vegtable/herb garden in our backyard and there is nothing like having your own fresh herbs.

I guess you will show more of the mini vineyard on the Jan 1st tour.

Thanks HGTV. The tour was worth waiting for.

  3. I was surprised to see no furniture on the wrap around porch.

Such a beautiful porch, and so sorry to see that it was not furnished.

Well, of course the winner can always get their own.

  4. I think my favorite moment was the story Jack told of the furniture arriving with no moving men and having the elderly men help him. That is quite a visual! :D

  5. Jack and Linda are able to put together so
many wonderful homes despite bears, storms or
portapottys!!! I really enjoyed these past
    special moments…thank you!

  6. I have to agree MicheleC, that was my favorite story too. Very funny. My favorite Dream Home was always DH05, but now of course it is DH09 now, but mainly due to the location.

But DH05 still had the BEST patio and pool area. It had EVERYTHING!!

  7. Could I have a double brandy & eggnog on the rocks, please? And make it snappy, I’m in a hurry to get back to Monday’s “Best Dream Home Moments” videos, and I don’t want to miss a second.
So far, my favorites are: the geriatric movers story; the Jack and Linda pillow fight; and Jack’s nefarious nap on the oversized fireplace mantel.
As for my favorite Dream Home…that’s a tough one, but I do really like the 2005 Dream Home in Tyler, Texas, especially the Boathouse Guest Room. Maybe it’s available as a summer rental?

  10. i also believe that the dh05 in tyler, texas was amazing, the pool was very nice along with the rest of the home, i still love the dh08 in florida the best, but i have to say texas comes close :D

  11. The master bedroom is beautiful, it look so elegant and dreamy. I am not surprise because its was Linda that did the creation.
I wish I lived in it right now. I cant wait for January 1, to enter in.

  12. Thanks for sharing these great moments. Jack on the mantel is priceless!! But it’s hard to pick a favorite dream house. They have all been GREAT!!

  13. Wow this home is amazing! It is my favorite by far- especially the master bathroom- that Victorian tub is a dream in it’s own!!

Not sure if I am the only negative nelly out there but with this economy and the majority of us “dreaming” for this home because we cannot otherwise afford such a dream… what are the costs associated with winning like? Are we not talking millions in winnings along with millions in financial responsibility upon winning??

I guess either way whoever wins will be better off than where they were but it is sad to fall in love with such a beautiful home and without romancing the idea of actually living in it.

Any who, my vote goes for this 2009 dreamhome as well as the Colorado dreamhome in the past (2007 I believe?)

  14. Oh Linda and Jack you have really outdone yourselves this time! The masterbed and bath are stunning! After a day in the the beautiful garden and a night in the fabulus kitchen what more could you ask for?!?!?!? Relaxed, sophisticated, charming! Everything you could dream of! Well, except for maybe a small private writing desk in the mastersuite overlooking the view. Then it would be perfect! Be Love it just the way it is.

  16. I LOVE the Sonoma house. I suppose I am biased, being a California native and all. But really, it is such a charming cottage, and I could totally see the five of us (3 young children)relaxing and enjoying life there. I didn’t think any home could top the 2005 house in Winter Park, CO, but this new one is truly lovely, and just the right size.

  17. When one considers the income tax bill due from winners, plus the property taxes, it would require one to take out a sizeable mortgage just to settle with the government. I've long wondered if any winners actually keep & live in these Dream Homes. Would HGTV let readers know?

  18. Having grown up in CA. I am anxious to move back! The Sonoma Dream Home is beautiful- very homey yet expansive. Nice cream color and the landscaping is gorgeous. I’d have to agree with Tiare S. that the HG05 Winter Park, CO. home was one of my favorites because of the rustic nature and we are outdoor people (so I was hoping we’d win!). Thank-you HGTV team for offering up another gorgeous home!

  19. This is truly an amazing home and is totally functional for a family. Anyone would love to be at home in this ideal location and it offers you a tremendous living environment that will provide optimum health. Kudos to you for such a great design.

  20. I am not impressed with this years dream home as far as functionality is concerned. The kids room was too masculine. The designer didn’t take into consideration that the winner may not have boys. The family room was so small and crowded. In my house this room is used the most and it is also one of the biggest. A TV was placed on a wall BEHIND one of the couches. Should a family of 5 want to watch a tv show together they would all have to sit on the same couch. The home office was very small and there was no storage to speak of. Designer used the office closet to store wine instead of actual work related materials. Much of the furniture and textiles were very light in color. Sure looks pretty but not for long if you have little ones. One more thing. Way to many accessories. Can you say dusting? As a big fan of HGTV & a mother of young kids this house is not a dream.

  21. Can you tell me where I can find information on the red/cream checked carpet/rug in the guest bedroom. I love it! Love this home!

  22. I agree that this home is FANTASTIC! I always thought that HGTV could never improve on the Winter Park, Colorado (2007) home, but I have been proven wrong. You really outdid yourselves with the Sonoma location and absolutely awesome 2008 dream home. The kitchen and master bath are to die for. I find this home to be the epitomy of luxury, elegance and pure JOY! LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT!!!

  24. I feel in love in Tyler,Texas with the Dream House in 2005. On a wim one day my husband and I were traveling through North Carolina and stopped to see the Dream House 2006. We feel in love with Ashville and the whole Gray Rock area. We want to build the Tyler House on the four acres we purchased at Grey Rock and have even had the plans drawn and builder set. We do beleive that Dreams do come true. Although (Land Resources)Grey Rock has now gone to Chapter 11 we are still hoping one day to get our Tyler Dream House built. Thanks HGTV for helping us keep the Dream alive.

  25. On a trip to the Florida Keys in October my husband & I checked out the 2008 Dream Home. Because it was behind a tall padlocked fence/gate we could only see one side of the home. Sure looked deserted to us. Can the winners of these homes actually afford to live in them? This home was supposed to be part of a planned community but we saw no sign of other construction. When watching last years’ HGTV broadcast of the winners I never saw anyone so “underwhelmed” at having won something worth $1 million+. Did they just realize the financial mess they had gotten themselves into? Please double check your bank account & credit before entering this contest. I do love watching HGTV and more than that love my mortgage free home.

  26. The whole house is astonishing. I just love it!! Sonoma is beautiful, great location! Fresh air, green trees, vineyards and horse back riding, dream come true.
