I can only Dream…what a house!
it is beutiful see the my house is come together
Hi Jack, thanks for all you and your team did in bringing this house alive, I can’t wait for my family to make it into a home. I will ask for a favor though, kindly provide non alcoholic wine for the celebration since I don’t drink. Thanks H.
Gail, Thanks for answering the question about the “white tubs” I saw in a previous video. Raised garden beds….and they are beautiful. Herbs for cooking (I might even be able to grow a tomato plant or two) and flowers…for cutting?
I’m curious about what’s behind the little white door in the study that the sweeper is leaning against. And I only see one chair behing the desk. No guest chair? Did a piece of furniture get lost in the move?
What a massive job so ably done by Jack, Linda and crew. Thanks guys!
Congratulations Jack—no geriatric movers this time!! And SuperFan’tastic’ diva Gail was doing her share to help “load in” all those beautiful pieces of furniture, getting the DH09 dressed up to the nine’s for her big reveal. As to Gail’s question to Jack and Linda about working well together, we know there has been at least ONE pillow fight that we were told about. And a warm hello to Kim Myles, who always has great design surprises for us on HGTV’s “Myles of Style”.
Gail – thanks for the enjoyable “Behind the Scenes” tour. I am amazed at the amount of planning and logistics that goes into putting together these homes. Jack and Linda are true professionals…that is obvious. What great jobs you all have. You all enjoy it and it shows. Hi Katydid – I think the white door in the study is a little door to bonus storage underneath the staircase (or a hiding place for youngsters, or place to hide your limited production / rare wine…ha…ha). Thanks again!
Jack, Linda, and everyone else involved in making of the DH09 you’ve done a fantastic job and created a beautiful home for some lucky winner! Do you get to take a rest before starting the next one or are you off and running on the next project?
I am curious as to why there is no bathroom on the first floor. I know many people who cannot climb stairs and this house would be very inhospitable for those friends. I would hate to send someone to a neighbor’s house or the nearest gas station to use the facilities. Any real reason that was left out?
Hi Bonnie: I looked up the color of the walls in the study…Armagnac…and found out it is a cognac, so I’ll stash my bottle in the little white cupboard. I love the color and also think it is used in the powder room (but that was a very quick glimpse). Gail: Can you tell us what are the things hangind down the wall next to the drapes behind the tea table in the dining room? I’m just killing time looking everywhere, waiting for Jan. 1st. Happy Holidays to all my dreamy blogger friends and the HGTV crew.
wow- beautiful home… i’m new to the blog scene here, but i’ve been obsessing about the dream house all the same. who wouldn’t? i think i’ve seen every video now… and it took me about an hour to read through all the ins and outs of the application rules. looking forward to jan.1…. will it be live or is the reveal already recorded? its “rain” season here in sonoma:(
To Katydid – the cognac sounds lovely! Perfect time of year for a digestif
. Happy Holidays to all the blogger buddies and to you and your family, too Gail!
I loved this video and the tour is absolutely awesome! I think this is probably my favorite Dream Home yet! While it has this incredible grandeur scale, it still manages to evoke a cozy, warm feeling. And, it’s not far from me to boot! I sure hope I win this time…I can already see myself there.
Although I really have liked alot of the other dream homes, the decorating and how it’s been set up, this home is not resort large and someplace I could see my family moving in and not having to use walkie talkies…(lol). The furnishings are elegant, and although I am not overly fond of some of the art work,it all fits in and looks beautiful.
Another beautiful house! Just curious, what brand of washer and dryer were used and where are they located? Why have none of the Dream Houses been handicap accessible? I remember one winner who was in a wheelchair. Maybe elevaters and ramp entrances should be added to the houses for now on beginning in the 2010 Dream House; is this something that would be considered? Thanks!
This is truly a dream come true. I know I would feel just like Shirley Temple in “Poor Little Rich Girl” waking up in such a beautiful HOME. Once again you have out done yourselves. Not one detail has been over looked. Congratulations to Jack, Linda, and everyone involved! Happy Holidays To All and with the coming New year, get some rest.
DP
I think the house is beautiful. I’ve looked at it 9 times and I still can’t stop. The person who wins this house will be the luckyest person alive.
Hi i am shaneque and i just seen a senk peek at the new dream home that you guys are giving away what i would do to have this house. I am only 26 but i already have big dreams and a house like this would complete it.IT IS A BEAUTIFUL HOUSE!!!!!!!!!!!!
Do people really win. I have a played the sweepstake for about 4 years now and this would be such a good begining for me. I dream is to have a dream house with a car and a new career as a business women. I would just love it. I have been trying so hard for the past years and it has been very difficult since 2002 from my divorce. I would love to be given a new opinunity and a new beginning this would mean so much to me. I am a substitute teacher and I have always wanted to start a home busines or several home businesses. I had a business last year and finances did not let me reach my goal. I have been helping my brother for the past two years but he works at Wal-mart and it has been a struggle for us since I am the one with one car. Our mom past away in 2007 and I took him out of New York City to bring him to live in South Carolina since 2006 of November. He helped our mom for 16 years and when we put her in the Nursing Home was when we dicided to move to North Myrtle Beach,
South Carolina. Now we are still renting but now we live in Loris, South Carolina. This would be such a big Dream if we win. per Maria my brother does not know I am emailing you a letter. I love you HGTV, I watch the show all the time.
What’s with all the curtains, especially by the door ways? The master has so many curtains, it makes a person dizzy. The art over the fireplace leaves alot to be desired. I’m sorry, but there’s to much of the same cream color and too much fabric. I’m disappointed!
WOW!! 2009 CAN’T MISS WITH THIS DREAM HOME!!
Great for California too, to receive this recognition, after a couple of really “ugly” years for their housing market.
This house is WONDERFUL!!! A real charmer with all the modern amenities.
My first house was a Dutch Colonial built in 1880, so I know of where I speak.
The staff and crew never cease to amaze and delight!!
Love the Herb Garden idea too, I think I might “borrow” that one!!
In response to a couple of other blogs.
Yes, the “guest chair” is in the study, by the lamp just waiting for a good book and delicious glass of port.
The laundry room is upstairs and absolutley
unbelievable..the washer and dryer are tucked neatly under the “miles” of counter tops.
Non alcoholic wine in Sonoma??? You be the judge on that one.
I almost started packing last night, but I need a few more boxes.
However, I will keep dreaming and playing.
See you guys on the front porch, I’ll be the one with keys in one hand, and a lucious glass of CA wine in the other!!
Can any one tell me where they got the large painting above the fireplace in the family room in the Calif. Dream Home. I would love to get this picture it would look great in my home. Thanks Susan
The home is beautiful. We were building a home in Healdsburg Ca.two years ago this February and it burned down a month before its compleation due to carelessness of the painter. It took us five years to build it and you are able to build yours in a few months. I know from experience all the work and time that goes into a project like that and I comend all of you for what you have done.
Good Evening,
Your sweepstakes home looks lovely, and is a huge sucess I’m sure. I haven’t been able to locate where you have given the sguare footage of the home, the heighth of the ceilings, the deminsions of the rooms, and the size of the lot.
I am sure it is given somewhere;but would appreciate you emailing me with the answers, since I am unable to locate them.
Many thanks,
C. Ballard
Question is there not a closet in guest bed room and if not why not most of the guest will have some hanging garments also and if the winner has a boy and girl they will have to use this room for one of them the girl would enjoy this room need a closet
this house says me all over it it’s my dream home to the little dog house and little vinyard, the herb garden. it’s all i could dream of , but one thing bothers me , what about the dishes ? I was watching them buy stuff at a home store but not nice dishes? the pattio had some but where were they from?
IT IS AMAZING! Jack, the folks at HGTV, to all the vendors – you’ve built MY Dream Home, seriously! The wrap around deck, the back yard sitting area, all the fabulous space, the open kitchen, have you read my mind? Did you plan on situating it right smack dab in the middle of some of the best Wine makers in the country? There are so many bonuses to this Dream Home that I MUST have it!! Although, I am extremely excited to see what is behind the curtain in the guest bath upstairs, b-t-w, where are the stairs, another soaking tub or a huge shower, a bidet – have I missed that important information? I do wish, however, that there was a bathroom downstairs. Could a motorized or hydraulic handicap chair lift be added to the hidden staircase so I won’t need to climb to the restroom after a long day of puttering in the garden?
WILL THERE BE AN ACTUAL PHYSICAL TOUR FOR THE PUBLIC OF THE 2009 DREAM HOUSE IN SONOMA?
MY GIRL PALS AND I WOULD LOVE TO TOUR IT, AND OF COURSE I WOULD LOVE TO WIN IT!!!!!!
This Dream Home is a spectaculr one,I have been dreaming BIG. Question I have is, are the coverings easy to clean or are they stain resistant? Thanks.
Now I know that while they were doing the filming and the tours of this house the people that were going in and out of the house either had to take their shoes off or had to wear booties. Did the people moving the furniture into the house do the same? I sure hope they did. I’ve noticed that during my moves, that is when the house gets the dirtiest. Weather they did or not, I’m sure the house has been well taken care of and everything still looks brand new.
