  1. My eyes are not what they use to be. Since I am a teacher, I must correct myself. The sentence should be I am a teacher:)

  2. Hello everyone, I was wondering if anyone that already owned a home could explain to me how the property tax works, and how it has to be pay, and when??…we don’t own a home, we are just renting, so we don’t know anything about how property tax works, thanks.

  3. I think we all know that no one from Sonoma’s going to win this beautiful dream-come-true, but for everyone else so worried about the taxes: I think there will be some creative financing offered by CA banks, even in this dreadful financial environment. OK, I admit I’ve asked around; ya gotta be prepared. What if one of my friends–whom I’ve guilted into entering every day–wins it? And speaking as a local (well, via the Outer Banks and Atlanta) who has watched the home being built, talked to the security guard, the gardeners, the caterers the day of the photo/video shoot…you don’t have to adore the green bedroom to adore the house.

Living in Sonoma is an art in itself. You cannot help but love it, from vines to cows, from Armstrong Estates to The Springs. It’s not the snooty-everybody-here-is wealthy-as-Midas kind of art. There is great wealth, and great philanthropy, and a great many open hearts. I could go on and on. Ooops. I think I just did.

  4. This is a dream come true for any situation.
I am a single mom with a 10 year old son. I have a disability. Presently I am receiving section-8 housing. I am 47 years old and have been on housing for 10 years. Unless I win the lottery or a contest like this I have nothing to offer my son. I am a citizen of the United States and am owed thousands of dollers in child support. My ex-husband has never given us a penny. My son is a bright loving boy who dreams of owning a home some day. I have been watching HGTV for many years. I have been told I should be a home decorator and that I am extremely talented. I am extremely clean and appreciate the smallest of things. If I were to win this HGTV Dream Home my only worry is up front costs. Although there are creative ways to affordability I am concerned that you rule certain people out during selection process. What are my chances. If I were a winner I would make you proud.

  6. The house is everything I would want in a dream home.I am 25 years old and have a 5 year old girl and a 2 1/2 year old son, and one on the way. I lost my job after my boss found out I was pregnant. The cost of living has gone up and my unemployment benifits are only helping so much. we are a family just looking for the same things everyone else is, a home to call our own,a safe area to live and a good school for my children. we are in a 2 bedroom apartment now hoping to find something bigger with the new baby on the way in may-june. but when u owe more money then you make it makes it dificult with everything you do is a credit check now.The only way we could even own a house is if we could win this dream home from HGTV. I wish everyone the best of luck…

  8. I just wanted to give props to Candice Olsen. No, disrespect to the other very fabulous designers on HGTV, but Candice’s work is on another level. Her designs are simply genius -exquisite. Sometimes I wonder if such beautiful decor can come from one mind or if she is collaborating. Anyway, Candice your the greatest!

  9. I have to say I am in love with this house, but in reality know that I could never afford to live there with the taxes being what they are. I could at least “stay” there for a few months. I live in Napa Ca, actually was born there, which is right next door (I have also lived in Sonoma) I like most people would have to sell it, but then I could do what I have been wanting to do to my 100 year old home and have all new furniture. Isn’t dreaming wonderful.

  10. The very first comment on this page is the same one that I have… I was wondering if it has been asked about the costs that the winner will incur upon winning? What will be the CA state tax, property tax and insurance and any other fees required from the winner? It won’t make any difference to me either, I’m still going to enter every day for these last 4 days. I just think a lot of people are wondering what that will be. Thank for everything you guys do there at HGTV.
