Plus, the HGTV Dream Home Giveaway 2009 special is just weeks away. And who knows when we might reveal the 2010 location? It could be sooner than you think.

This would be a great chance to have in our life right now. I’m 31 years old and lost my father & mother in the recent years due to Lymphoma and Cancer. My father was only 48 when he passed in 2000. My mother passed away only 2 years ago and things havent been the same. From losing them, my wife, son and myself have tried so hard to get ourselves back on track. We have been going through some tough times in grief and this would be a great chance to feel alive again. Its hard to know my son will never meet my parents. So starting something new would help make these past years of tough times sort out. Im crossing my fingers!!!! Mom, Dad give us your blessings!!!
I wish everyone great luck!!!
I’ve been entering this contest every morning since it started. I must say I was a bit thrown off my usual schedule when I realized I could not place an entry today. Thankfully I did make the cut off time yesterday and was even able to scrounge up 4 more stamps for mail in entries. I have depleted our entire collection of stamps!
To have high spirits and passion are vital in life. A passionate spirit enables one to create a beautiful life. Thanks to all you fun and clever folks for keeping my spirits high.
I just get goosebumps thinking about having the opportunity to move into this amazing community and home!! THANKS HGTV FOR ALL THE WONDERFUL THINGS YOU DO! I know my husband and I would move into this home in a heartbeat!
Good Morning all
Just a little food for thought while we wait
We Are So Blessed
If you woke up this morning with more health than illness, you are more blessed than the million who will not survive the week. If you have never experienced the danger of battle, the loneliness of imprisonment, the agony of torture or the pains of starvation, you are ahead of 500 million people around the world. If you can express your beliefs without fear of harassment, arrest, torture, or death, you are more blessed that almost three billion people in the world. If you have food in your refrigerator, clothes on your back, a roof over your head and a place to sleep, you are richer than 75% of this world. If you have money in the bank, in your wallet, and spare change in a dish someplace, you are among the top 8% of the worlds wealthy. If your parents are still married and alive, you are very, very rare. If you hold up your head with a smile on your face and are truly thankful, you are blessed because the majority can, but most do not. If you can hold someone’s hand, hug them or even touch them on the shoulder, you are blessed because you can offer God’s healing touch. If you own just one Bible, you are abundantly blessed. 1/3 of the world does not have access to even one. If you can read this message, you are more blessed than over two billion people in the world that cannot read anything at all
Well am off to the nursing home to make some very special people SMILE
sawa dee-ka COOP!! Hope your stay in Tailand is invigorating…are you involved in one of the intense Balance & Revitalise Comprehensive programs over there? Created for stress prevention and recovery for your mind, body and spirit perspective? This would definitely help you to maintain your balance during stress and change….like winning the DH2009!! With a change like that, I would toast you with my cup of Green Tea..cho?hk dee!! I must ask, have you purchased an authentic good luck and good fortune Thai Buddha amulet yet? Somehow I have this vision that you could be sitting around in your grass skirt with this huge amulet around your neck waiting for the HGTV team to walk in on you in Thailand…I love this visual & can’t think of anyone better to win the HGTV DH2009…okay, maybe secretly I’m really hoping it might be me!!
JennyD: The Hot Teddy Bear, Bruce Lee, was the contractor that build the DH2009! If you think he is hot, take a look at some of the crew footage taken while they were building the DH2009…one of Bruce Lee’s crew members, I think his name is Hans, is really HOT!!
Brenda: We hope it is you that wins the DH2009 ’cause we know that you will honor our SISBP at the DH2009 in Sonoma in a BIG WAY!!
Just for clarification, I believe the video everyone is talking about was from last year’s winner, Stephanie Dee…we won’t know the winner of this year’s Dream Home until March 15, 2009!! STAY TUNED, it could be you!!!!
Cynthia Newland: Thank you…it is GREAT to be back…I miss all the blog action when I am away!!!
I had so much fun in this sweepstakes can’t wait to see who wins this house what a nice dream GOOD LUCK to everyone
Thank you again for letting us dream. We would be honored to live in any house you built. After 18 years of living in snow we truly are ready for a change and out age is telling us that. A dream come true to the winner. This would be the best birthday present ever for me. I would be packing on the 16th and by the end of the month would host the biggest meet the new owners party every. Can’t wait to meet the neighbors.
Marie Miller- Okay, I will look for them and give them a BIG squeeze to Hans for ya!
Brenda will make the SISP happen and I will be there to help for sure. If we should win, I will make sure it happens as well. I already have ideas.
I am really looking forward to my drive to Sonoma tomorrow, I am getting excited to meet up with Bonnie B and lovely kitty as well as other fellow bloggers.
Bonnie B- Remember, 11:30 at La Salette! Let’s have a toast to the day, drink of your choice on me.
My son Jack asked me yesterday, “Mom, is that guy with no hair really named Jack too?” Too funny what 6 year olds come up with. He know who Jack is and he thinks Monica is VERY PRETTY!

Happy TGIF Fellow Bloggers;
This is day one and counting up to when the winner will be announced. I’m sooo….excited. I asked my three children today if they wanted to relocate with me to California. They all said yes. Right now, this would be a huge blessing for me and my family because my son is facing a foreclosure, my daughter is expecting my second grandbaby and struggling with bills (rent) and as for me I live in a two bedroom apartment and have been since my husband died in March of 2007. Oh, that winner will be announced just around the time my husband died and that would help me not to rememeber his death. I desire so much to have my family back with me, comfortable and not worrying when the next bill is coming and they can’t pay it. I am really tired of living in apartments; I need my space and peace and sunny Sonoma, California would be just the place to restart my life and enjoy my family.
Katherine: I have, too, been looking around wondering why I keep seeing these strange men that look very important. It is ironic. You know when you expect something good to happen, it happens.
Accolaida I have been entering everyday too since 1/3 at the same time of 8:30am like clock work. That is something that all of us (blogers) think alike. What a day we will have at the SISP party. I CAN’T HARDLY WAIT! Ok, earth to Jacqueline. LOL. Anyway see you all my SISP pary in Sonoma in early March and happy blogging. Oh, I need anyone that can help me contact the bloggers because I started blogging only a week ago. I don’t know everybody. Thanks in advance.
Happy Friday, Bloggers and other California Dreamers! What another great day this is and another great day for dreaming.
Hey everybody (Lovelykitty, Bonnie, DBCoop, Katydid, 2cherubs, 4dewdrops, Marie Miller, Jenny, Jennifer, JandVsmom, Deryck, Ingrid & Bobo, Gail, Rhonda Priest, Mary, Carita, Linda, Tamara and ALL the rest of you guys – I know I’ve left someone out). It’s great to know that you great group of people are still around and sharing “the big dream”.
Gracious, lovely Marie Miller, after I am “ambushed” by the HGTV crew and the camera is on my face (after sufficient jumping up and down and a worthy “happy dance”), you will definitely hear me say, “The part-tie’s on!”. I’m looking forward to our SISBP which WILL occur, no matter what. I just don’t know what preparations have to be made in advance, e.g. do we have to contact the Sonoma City Council to find out if we can party in the Plaza? Ingrid can you find out?
DBCoop: ??????????! chok dee to you on your upcoming Thailand Trip! Stay safe.
I’m still dreaming big and claiming this dream home. Janos Arany says” In dreams and in love, there are no impossibilities. Good luck to us all and I’ll be blogging later.
Oh, I have so many typo’s. I mean party. I mean bloggers. I wish I could edit my post. These darn nails
DREAM BIG!! Dream Dream Good Luck To All Stay POSITIVE. Thank You HGTV this is so Wonderful how this blog has brought so many people together This is Great! (SISBP)Will Happen I Hope.My Fingers are still Crossed.
still dreamin…
lifeisgoodatgrandmas–
Thanks, that’s beautiful, and so true. I do think about how blessed we are everyday, right after I think about the dream house.
Brenda, the only way I’ll be going to the blogger party is if I win, but you are welcome to make it happen for me if that’s the case
By the way, I accidentally blogged twice under just Brenda. One time it was a comment to Gina who owns the restaurant in SF. I told her if I didn’t win, I hoped she would. I think it’s kind of funny she thanked you!! You never commented back to her
BrendaLoo (my aunt’s nickname for me, NOT my middle name)
You’re right Coop…I do have another question for the person that wins the DH2009. What was your motivation for entering the DH2009? For myself, “Sweeping” is not just about winning sweepstakes, but also about making friends, dreaming about a great prize like the DH2009, and sharing the excitement of winning with others. It helps me keep a positive attitude and enjoy the time I spend blogging with so many wonderful participants!!!
This would be a true blessing from God if I win this house. I’ve come from a poor family. My entire family is poor. Everyone is on some type of government assistant all but a hand full. If I win,.. the curse of poverty will be reversed for us and our future descendants to come.
So we’ll know on the 4th if we haven’t won but won’t know until the 15th who did (if not us)? Imagine being the winner and not being able to share that with the other bloggers during that period! It’ll be fun to see if someone seems to be trying to contain themselves!
This house would be such a blessing to me and my children and my mother . I am staying with a friend right now as I have no place to live . It would be a great blessing from God and HGTV if me and my family won this house. I wish all who entered good luck and God Bless!
Hello everyone, I am sooooo excited about the DREAM HOME I can hardly stand it. I have butterflies in my stomach when I think about winning. This is awsome. I thank God for the HGTV Team, they a truly a blessing. Anyway, I’m wishing everyone great favor on this Prize Giveaway. See you on March 15th.
So do they notify the winner on the 3rd?
And this year I believe a lot more people of color sent in entries and I believe a person of color will win this year.
Hey Brenda, thanks for the greeting. You have a great memory, remembering all those wonderful bloggers! I’ve been busy the past couple of days and haven’t read all the posts like I usually do. However, I did remember to enter, even the very last day. I’m trying to catch up on all the posts but it is hard since every few minutes somebody adds a new post.
I have also been entering online since the very first day (Jan. 1), and sent in 3 mail in entries. I didn’t mail in more entries because as someone posted early in Jan., if it is really meant to be, than all I really need to win is 1 entry. So I decided not to mail in any more entries and just enter online only.
I vaguely remember the very first Dream Home in 1997. I had just discovered the channel HGTV and got to see the commercials advertising the home. It was towards the end of the sweepstakes and I never entered. The following year I remembered late into the sweepstakes and didn’t enter again.
The year 1999 and after are a blur since I was finishing my degree and then baby #1 arrived. But the first home I remember wanting to win was the home in Texas, and then the one in North Carolina. I also loved the home in Colorado! However, last year I didn’t enter even once because I don’t see myself living in Florida. This year, since the Dream Home is in my home state and I love the home and everything in it, I entered daily.
It has been a fun ride seeing all the Dream Homes, I will continue to keep posted and see where DH2010 will be.
Jessica from Brooklyn, how are you doing?
Mr. DBCoop, have a wonderful time in Thailand, and if you are going to do the elephant ride thing, please be careful.
To all my wonderful blogging buddies, have a wonderful day and remember, “Carpe Diem”.
Every year I enter the DH Sweepstakes and I am sure we all have some motivation or reasons as to why we have entered. With that said now that you know you have won the dream home that you have been entering the contest for and touring for these past weeks when you turn that key to open the door from fantasy to reality what do you think will be the first thing you will plan to do once you have entered your new home?
You know what, I just had an idea. I’ve been reading all your blogs and been seeing how everyone is sharing a dream but also shares the concern of not being able to keep the house. I was thinking that a great way to make the “dream” be true for everyone would be to open the guest room for the bloggers after winning it. I don’t know how much a B&B in Sonoma costs but spending a weekend at the Dream House as a guest, visit with the family, and get to live the dream would allow to raise some money to pay for the taxes. Instead of spending money at the B&B a “gift” can be left after staying at the guest room. A guest book and photos of visitors will be a permanent addition to that room. That could be the gift from the bloggers and a gift back to them.
I don’t know, it’s just a thought, I don’t know what the logistics behind something like that would be.
I find it harder to wait right now, but keeping the faith and the positive thinking is a must.
Somebody asked the winner: “Did you always know you were going to win?” my answer to that question will be, “there was never a doubt, and I knew for a fact I was going to live in that house when I saw my initials, A and M in the pictures hanging on the wall of the living room and it was icing on the cake when I saw my son’s initial K on the vase in the guest room. I looked and looked but I didn’t see my husband’s B and C but I’m sure (and he agrees) they are in the garage with the golf bag, fishing gear, and bikes.
I am in favor of not just a one time SISP but it would be great to see it happen annually. We could get local restaurants to participate and maybe get the Ledson Hotel or another hotel or B&B to offer a special “SISP Weekend Package Deal” for that particular weekend. They may even agree to give a small percentage of what they make from the bookings to help with costs of the event. There could be a code word when making reservations and whoever is interested could go to the HGTV website to retrieve it.
Then we could possibly get whatever restaurant, wineries, Ledson Hotel and any other local businesses that would like to participat to donate services, food or funds to the annual SISP. It would be great advertising for Sonoma and local business and we could continue it year after year. We could fun prizes or raffles at the party donate by local businesses in the area like spas, wineries, hot air balloon rides, whatever Sonoma has to offer. That would be such a blast. I do that sort of thing here in EDH for my summer series and the community loves it! Who knows how far it could go.
Just a thought. As you can see I am already planning on the SISP to really happen.

Aren’t we all people of color?? I’m white and pink with brown freckles. M husband is Asian with olive, tan skin. My kids are a spectrum, and I take care of 2 beautiful half black, half pink girls. Not sure why being a “person of color” matters, that’s reverse discrimination if you ask me. I’m more into a nice person winning the home of their dreams, a person that can see the blessing in all this, which truthfully is MOST people.
–”This is my home”– You need to the glass half full!! If anything, with our current president, color should be a non-factor. It’s also a random drawing, so….
I’m just wondering how they select the people. If it was a random selection, do they use computers and do they have an auditor making sure that this is a truly a random process.
It is a fun games. A lot of imagination and dreaming.
I’m not trying to burst any bubble here but in reality, the property tax on a $2 million is close to $20,000 per year, the gift tax on $2 million will be at your ordinary income tax rate of 30% so it will be around $600,000!!
Don’t forget home insurance, sales tax on the car, furnishings, gardening, etc….
Could be a blessing if you have the money to pay uncle sam and afford the upkeep but you will need the upfront cost to afford this. I don’t know how the winners do it.
If the past winners can verify this information and how they got past this tax thing, it would interesting to know.
BrendaLoo- I hope a nice person like you wins it! Bravo!

OMG…just watching the ambush video of the past winner made me cry! My face swells up so bad every time I cry and I’m going to be crying my face off on national TV!!!! It’s so exciting and emotional that I can’t help crying right now…just imagine when I see the cameras!
When I was pregnant and teaching a lecture class of 70 students I had nightmares of my water breaking in front of all my students in the middle of my lecture! Now I just have a feeling my 54 students will see me cry like a baby when I get ambushed in the middle of my lecture. From nightmare to dream…but still embarrassing…he,he
Note to self…start wearing waterproof mascara
Look! Jack T. is also involved in the Blog Cabin 2009 … I thought that promo for Asheville looked and sounded familiar (ie, Dream Home 2006). I’m so glad to have more homes (Green Home and Blog Cabin) to look forward to.

Of course we can't forget the mamas and the papas too! Got to love that they saved Monica for the last inteview. Do you think our blog is catching notice
Yes I picked the sippin table setting too. Guess what the green home is having in the yard this year. Anyone read the latest update? They put in a boche ball court. Hope my spelling is correct but anyway seems funny after the blog about the league starting in Sonoma. Have a great time all of you taking the tour. I hope to see some pictures. I hope the phone doesn't ring for at least half an hour since I need to put drops in my ears. I don't want to worry about missing that important call! Hearing is wayyy off right now, So please HGTV call but shout it out. Thank you. Tee hee. Got to maintain a sense of humor. One of the golden rules I have remembered from my NCO training in the army. Dream big all and don't forget to hug your family and pets.

Regarding the Powder Room:
I was concerned about this too but the television program featuring the house clearly shows that it is right next to the office past the entertainment room.
BRENDA…You bet…you are on my daisy list…I already put the b oy on my list. When I watch the news I am in prayer almost the whole time.
HEY EVERYBODY. Red and yellow, black and white they are precious in HIS sight
LOCAL BLOGGERS..iF i CAN’T MAKE IT tomorrow, I’m in the book and you can also call me and I will get on the ball with the party plans.
Gotta run..thanks for all of this I’ve had a wonderful enlightenment about this computer
This is the first time I have commented, but I had to get on to say I CANT WAIT! Plus I just re-read the rules and they pick the winner on the 3rd, in which time they have 5 days to respond and return all due paperwork. The word ambush has quotation marks on it so obviously it is set up for a “tv ambush”. I wonder how well I can act “surprised” for when the camera show up! haha-
Although the house would be a wonderful prize, it is not finacially feasable for myself so as much as I am praying to win I hope it goes to some one who can benefit from it the most.
It has been nice reading almost all the posts in here the last few weeks and I hope this blog will stay active until the winner is shown on TV.
This home is amazing. I amI too have entered the dream home sweeps for one other dream home. It was the log cabin it was so beautiful.
I can relate to another person who sent her blog about her husband having MS. Both my brothers are disabled by it and my mother was diagnosed with having MS symptoms and lesions in her brain so I know what a horrid disease it is. I have had symptoms but as of yet, have not had an attack like they have but i was diagnossed with cancer when I lived in Santa Rosa CA a couple years ago.My sister has also had MS symptoms but not diagnosed. We will need to be monitered for the rest of our lives I am sure.
If I could choose a winner myself, it would be my mother(She inspires me to overcome what seems the imposible ). Discribing my mother seems kind of hard because there are few words that can be used spirituallly faithful and strong willed but so overworked I wish I could help her. She is a short but sweet, feisty, funny, strong lady who takes care of both her sons ( ages 36 & 29 )and my father who is also disabled and with an amputationRosa. as well. Because she is sole careperson for all of them, she has too work two jobs sometimes. she has her own contracts which come and go. She was also able to find a permanent job where she is allowed to work a few days from home at the other days she commutes from Modesto to Davis CA (leaving the boys alone at home. they dont drive so they rarelly leave the house. Their rooms is wherethey spend most of their days. UC Davis is also where the boys go to their treatments. They used to live in Elk Grove CA but the lost their house when my mother was laid off from her job there. I used to be able to go help her every other weekend because I lived In sonoma county (Santa Rosa CA) for a while but mu husband is in the Airforce and we had to moveafter 4 years. THATS were i first knew I loved wine country and my kids fell in Love with wine country too. We now live in DC on Bolling AFB and we’re (my husband) about to retire (he is my hero 20+ years in service to his country USAF). I originally I felt this is a “perfect fit” for us “dream home” in every way(I really think that would be my Dream home come true because we still dont have a clue where we will live yet.
My mother deserves it and needs it more than I for what she has gone through and I love her for it. She is one who loves and cares for everyone and herself last. She has 4 sick kids and cares for 2 0f them Myself oldest daughter(diagnosed with Cancer and other medical problems)second oldest male( first to be diagnosed and then dissabled with MS) third girl (has 4 kids and has had also many issues related to MS) and youngest boy(youngest diagnosed and dissabled with the one with the worst symptoms yet).
ANYWAY, I dont know who will be the lucky winner but this much is true.Everyones needs and wants are just as important to them as our reasons are for ourselfs, and when the lucky one is announced,it will be because it was meant to be for them. They will feel blessed and greatful just as all of us millions who entered daily with the same Dreams (To win the beautiful HGTV 2009 Sanoma Dream home) would be as well. Thanks HGTV, that house is beautiful and a DREAM!
If anything, we’ve all been inspired by the designs of this wonderful house and can just try to make our home look like it.
HGTV= THANK YOU FOR THIS SWEEPTAKES. MAY GOD BLESS YOU AND THE SPONSORS. GOD BLESS EVERYONE AND GOD BLESS AMERICA,THE BEAUTIFUL.
I am so excited for the drawing and want to wish everyone good luck! If I win, I will feel lucky to have this special prize, I can only dream of waking up every morning in California with my family.
Thanks to HGTV for hosting this contest and for all the sponsers who support it as well. I really enjoy watching HGTV and have received great ideas from watching the network for my current home.
Someone is going to be REALLY LUCKY!!
I can’t explain how much I love this home. I dream about it and I daydream about it. I actually feel myself walking the hallways and entering each room. I fantasize myself becoming a part of this house.
My life is half over. I have worked hard and raised two children. I do not see a home in my future. A home to call my own. I would so appreciate every inch of it daily. I so want to win this home and be able to call it my home. My first home that I can share with my children!
I arranged for my lease/move to be just before the winner is announced…March 11th,
but then I thought if I win will you be able to contact me? Entered my home phone. Just curious if the winner actually knows before this date and others find out the 15th on TV. I actually am almost completely packed. Positive thinking.
It was so nice reading everybody’s comment….now I don’t feel like I was the only one who was day dreaming! I was telling my husband that this house was calling me…hahaha we had twins (2 boys) last April and I had noticed this picture of twins in the study room bookshelf. And then of course the boys room with the 2 beds…and then I LOVE white zinfandel wine….and they’re growing that on the property! And last but not least the GMC truck…it’s really hard to fit 2 car seats and then a booster seat for a 6 year old in a regular car! This would be a dream come true. All I have to say come March 15th be it an ambush or not…I am wearing my best clothes and make up…because you never know who will be knocking at your door!!!! hahahahaha And yeah last years winner was really calm…I would have gone crazy! My husband thinks I’m crazy right now just daydreaming about this house and talking about it…could you imagine winning! MY GOSH! Wish everybody luck!
Will – I believe all former winners had to sell the house to pay the taxes. They still end up with a tidy sum.
Backing up the Pink blogger…
My mom is 1/2 Chinese (yellow), My dad is German (stubborn), One brother’s children are 1/2 Venezuelan (tan), another brother’s are 1/2 Japenese (yellow), another brother works with all ethnic backgrounds in NY (red, white, & blue), my favorite teacher was African American, my sister-in-laws children are 1/2 black, my best friend is mexican (tan), i work with American Indians (red).
My point is…
I bet each prior winner of the Dream Homes has a diverse ethnic background we are unaware of. Every color wants to & has an equal chance to win. The computer that picks a winner is color blind.
So true KAY!!!
We are ALL colorful. We are all the different. And even if you think you are purely one “ethnicity” you may be diverse in some other way. So, heck ya I hope someone “of color” wins. That would be pink me, yellow husband, or rainbow kids. If the winner is African American, Asian, Hispanic or White, it won’t make any difference to me. Just take care of that house and wear a big grin!!
Thanks for the support Jenny D. If I find your are the winner (make sure you say I’m Jenny D) then I also will be wholeheartedly happy for you!! If only…
i forgot,
my husband is polish (more stubborn), my oldest son was in the military (navy), my middle son loves his jeans (denim), my youngest son is full of beans (calico), another one of my brothers just adopted a child from africa (black), another brother’s children are cowgirls with (pink) pigtails, my sister’s little girl is (perfect). don’t worry…be happy, the computer is color blind.
Hey Will,
Yeah we’ve talked the taxes up and down on here. It’s a lot, but we’re all going to send the winner $5 to help with the up front income taxes. A lot of us have the envelopes ready right now. Not sure how much of a dent it will make, but maybe there will be publicity…or they’ll mention it on the show…
As for past winners, there was one family that kept if for almost 5 years as a vacation rental, another family kept it and lived in it around a year and tanked, and the rest all sold and left with some nice cash
Most of us on here are hoping we can find a way to make it work, however, as we’re IN LOVE with the house and area
We all think it’s ours too, well for at least a moment of each day. We think it’s fun to hope
My husband and I keep saying our prayers that we will win this home. I am about to graduate from nursing school in May and my husband is planning on returning to school for nursing as well. My husband is from Brazil and longs for some warmer weather. We live in cold, icy northern Wisconsin where we enjoy 6 months of snow a year…uggghh. We have been California dreaming for the last couple years. We’ve wanted to move to wine country, but there are not many affordable homes for regular working class folks in CA. It would be a dream come true to live in this gorgeous home and in this beautiful spot on the earth. I know I would do everything in my power to keep this home and not have to sell it. I can see my husband and I setting down roots there and raising a family. How idyllic it would be! Hmmm. A new life…a new beginning.
Good luck to all who entered. I’m sure we are all deserving in some way. I just hope if it’s not me, the winner will treasure this amazing gift they have been given. It’s truly a magnificent opportunity.
Hello! all you wonderful HGTV sponsors! I truly love all your Dream Homes. I have been entering for years. IN 2006 I sent one of the frist design postcards in with a picture of my Dog Chewy, and his name in front of the dog house. Your staff and designers are truly family. I also used many of your sponsors produts and all were nicely price and will made.KEEP UP THT GOOD WORK!!!
