What Would You Ask the Winner?
Say you don’t win the HGTV Dream Home 2009. I know, it’s a long shot, but let’s just say your name isn’t pulled out of the proverbial hat in early March. What question would you want most to ask the winner? Don’t answer too quickly. Put on your reporter’s cap and think about it for a bit. We’re looking for your most creative queries (but nothing too outlandish) that we can ask the winner immediately after he or she is given the good news. We’ll turn the interview into a video that will be posted on this very blog. Give it some thought and post your best questions below.
Oh, and by the way … you only have a few more hours to enter. Please encourage your friends, neighbors, relatives, acquaintances and co-workers to enter too!

What was your favorite room before you won and what is your favorite room now that you’ve won. Which fridge are you going to fill first, what will you use the 2nd fridge for, any plans for a catering business?
Dear Fellow Bloggers,
It’s been a little while since I’ve chatted–we’ve been swamped with the job search (I keep up on the winejobs.com of Sonoma site–just in case).
I think the series of questions posed earlier would be a good place to start–you know, the basics:
1) How many times & what format did you enter?
2) Will you actually move your family to Sonoma to live in this house?
3) What will be the first “Sonoma” event your family participates in?
4) Are you a food & wine lover?
5) How do you & your family plan on paying it forward?
I hope that #5 comes easily to you and your family once this miracle is bestowed upon you. I will keep positive thoughts that you are able to remain in this beautiful home and do great things for the Sonoma community!! I will even mail you a “house warming” card and hope you will do the same for me!!
Even though there is already a selected winner, it’s still fun to hold out hope for another week or so!
There was a car parked by our house (for about 4-5 days) that was not a neighborhood car and my sons were convinced that it was an HGTV plant watching us to get an idea how to “ambush” our family!! (Just so you know, we will be enjoying a family dinner & birthday cake for me)!! One can only hope!!
I would ask: Did you get a call from HGTV telling you were a winner? And did any of your relatives know?
HGTV is giving you an opportunity to make your life’s dream come true…
My question would be, what is your dream?
Congratulations!
Acontestants prayer . . .
Even though I’ve never won anything this wonderful before, won $5.00 once, somebody has to win. I’m a somebody, perhaps it will be me. I deeply and completely love and accept myself.
And so it is.
Bless us one and all.
thanks to hgtv for a lifetime in dreams for some who aren't so lucky. these houses are dreams come true my question is How does it feel to have your dream come true from people with a heart felt feelings from god?
New Mexico this is a place I have always dreamed of living. The dream home in New Mexico is like something from a moving. I love the bathrooms and the master no words can describe how wounderful this house is. This is my dream home I can only hope and pray that I win this wounderful home. I think the desiner of this home knew what they where doing. I really love this home this is really my dream home it is in the perfect state and near the most perfect town and the privacey is a dream come true.
My first thought was to make the Dream Home into a get away for renters. I thought it would be an excellent place for family vacations, reunions, business meetings, ect… Thank You HGTV for finally building a house in the southwest! For folks who don't fly, this home is within driving distance. We also have the great weather here to make it accessable all year long. Winning this house would be a blessing for my whole family!
My questions are
1. Who would you invite over for your first party?
2. What were some of your dreams specifically regarding the dream home when you won?
3. Will you use some of the furnishings in the dream home in your present home?
We watched the TV special on March 19th and got to see Eric ( Stay at home Dad of two little ones) and his wife Catherine as they were awarded the gift of one half a million dollars ( before taxes) and the car and also home in Vermont! WOW! They were so shocked and really numbed by it all. They all were able to walk outside in early march, without any coats and Eric did not seem to have any shoes on ( as my husband noticed, just socks) and snow was gone, so it was a nice day! This is in Illinois and we live in NYS and still have snow on the ground, so it was so surprising to us that it was' already gone!'
Will they be selling their home and moving to Vermont now, and Catherine can look for work in Vermont; or use it for vacations only, when she is off work, and children out of school? That would really not be much of the time though and the home would need to be heated some, or water lines drained all Winter if not in use, and alarm systems in place!.
A lovely life awaits you no matter how you do it. But looks like Winters are'' much milder'' in Illinois!?
