Who Will Win?
![]() |
Good afternoon, bloggers!
Whew — it seems like you all just finished a marathon and now you have to wait to see who won. I am so excited, I can hardly stand it. Will the winner be someone from our blogger “family” who enters every day (and sends in postcards)? Or, do you think it will be the lucky person who happened to enter once? I want to know, I want to know!
Now that you’re free from entering daily, I hope you will spend your time taking the virtual tours and coming up with more questions. I’m ready to answer them.
And just to answer some recent questions:
•The ottoman in the study is a Lewis ottoman by Ethan Allen in a houndstooth fabric. It sits below the clock pictures.
•Also, there is a big storage area in the study and lots of closets and cabinets throughout the house and in the garage.
•Finally, there is no basement in this home. Most of the homes in California do not have basements.
Good luck everyone!
Your Super Fan,
Gail

Hi Gail, How do you reach the winner without spoiling the surprise?
KATYDID…I HAVE BEEN TO MICHIGAN FOR A WEDDING…DOES THAT COUNT? WOULDN’T THAT BE SOMETHING…IF WE MET ONCE….IT IS A SMALL WORLD AFTERALL….ON SECOND THOUGHT THE IDEA OF HAVING A SECOND DRAWING WITHIN THE CONTEST WOULD BE AGONIZING….BUT THE RULES DO STATE THAT POSSIBILITY…..AND IF THEY DID DBCOOPS IDEA WAS FUNNY….I’M SURE WHATEVER THEY DO…IT’S ALL SET IN MOTION AND ALL WE CAN DO IS WAIT…AARGH! OUR DOG, LUCY., WHO NEVER BARKS WENT NUTS ALL DAY….SHE BARKS AT STRANGERS…I LOOKED…AND DIDN’T SEE ANY VANS… WELL, IT IS SUPPOSED TO BE DRAWN ON THE THIRD….WITH EACH ENVELOPE I PREPARED….I HAD A PICTURE IN MY HEAD OF A BUNCH OF CUTE GRAY HAIRED LADIES SITTING AROUND A TABLE AT RITWAY (the place that handles the entries in Ten) AND I WAS SENDING THE LOVE ONTO ENVELOPES…I’M CURIOUS ALONG WITH THE REST OF YOU HOW THEY DO IT…AND WE MAY NEVER KNOW….WHICH IS FINE….THERE ARE A LOT OF CURIOUS BLOGGERS HERE…MYSELF INCLUDED…KATYDID…NOW YOU’VE GOT ME WONDERING ABOUT THE VACUME….SEE WHAT YOU DID…I TOO WONDER HOW THEY CO-MINGLE THE EMAILED ENTRIES WITH THE ENVELOPES/POSTCARDS…..SO MUCH SPECULATION…SO MUCH ANTICIPATION….AIN’T IT GRAND?!.
So, with regard to “the ambush style” notification whoever the winner may be – if you are at work, can/will they be able to find you? It would be very unfortunate to get choosen and be at work and they come knoking on your door just to hear your dog bark. What then???
Gail,
This whole sweepstakes has been a fun experience at my house. I have my 5 year old son and 8 year old daughter running to the door to see if the HGTV gang is standing there waiting to ambush us with the wonderful news! My daughter has already claimed the guest room and my son has even picked out a spot in the house to do his homework! No fretting here… Learning how to handle a little disappointment in life is a good thing and I have the “We will have better luck on the next house” speech already prepared….I am talking about for my husband not the kids! LOL! I phoned my husband at work last week and told him the HGTV people had secretly phoned me because it was a healthcare magazine company looking to talk with my husband and I told them he was at work and it would be better to reach him at night so the lady on the phone said that she would try again in a couple of weeks. “A COUPLE OF WEEKS” I told my husband….Just so happens the HGTV gang will be announcing to the winner in “A COUPLE OF WEEKS”….Coincidence? I think NOT! We had a big laugh! My husband has pulled a few of his own little HGTV “we won” experiences around as well so we have all really had a blast! I love reading the BLOGS here and watching the videos of the house! A girl can only dream, right?
Nose smudges on the windows,
Anita
Gwen, just want to let you know that no matter where you are, they will find you. One of the Dream Home winner’s was surprised at her job. They don’t just go to your home on the day of the give-away, but the day they pull the winner’s name they go into motion to find out your schedule and routine.
They even sometimes include your friends or family to help them with the ambuse.
So if you see a strang car or van following you around…it may just may be the HGTV DREAM HOME TEAM!!!!
Hi to all~
This is my first time blogging, but I have been faithful every day in sharing with the enthusiasm of this site! I can’t hard take the anticipation of this waiting. I love the fellowship here, and you can certainly ‘feel’ the love and support for the soon-to-be winner. I am praying to win this Dream Home and think I have a healthy obsession (lol) with claiming and catching that vision. I plan to keep the home and live out the dream there in Sonoma with my family. When I win, count on having the SISBP at the Dream Home! If one of you wins, I am ready with at least $20 tax help. Please count me in, for the SISBP when the planning begins. Keep up the positive attitude and spirit.
If multiple winners are chosen, I thought it would be fun to play a trivia (Jeopardy type) game where the finalists could answer facts about the Dream House to win the Grand prize give-away. It would be one way of ensuring that a true fan and ‘keeper of the dream’ would win. How many of us have daily watched the video clips, photos, 360 tours, and know every corner of the home and every intricate detail down to the size of shoes, title of books and all the inspirational concepts of the HGTV 09 DH!!
Don’t worry about an enthusiastic ambush here, lol, I would be pleased and proud to represent …WOOO HOO…with hysterical sobs of joy and blessings. The 3rd is my Birthday and I am soooo excited. God Bless us all. You guys are the greatest and thanks for sharing and living the dream!
Rogene in Woodland, CA.
Wow, I guess I’ll need to start watching my family and friends more closely for any signs of deception! Very interested to see how they’d pull it off. I guess they obtain your job information through your family…? Do they ACTUALLY follow you around? A little creepy…LOL. Well, I guess I’ll find …I mean, we’ll find out soon enough!
It’s been fun sharing this experience with you all! On March 3rd, your name may be pulled! Good luck and keep those dreams alive!!!!
God bless the winner who will be selected on March 03, 2009. I want it to be me! It’s been truly a blessing to be apart of this sweepstakes. It is fun looking at this beautiful home in Sonoma, California with my children. My daughter Nasia cried when she saw this house in Sonoma, California. Now she has her suitcases packed to go to Sonoma, California, Which I find it cute that she now at 5 years old making her choice to go to a place she has fell in loves with. I thank you HGTV for allowing all of us to dream big including our children!
Peace, Love, & Happiness
won’t be long now! I just can’t wait to see who the winner is. I am all ready to “go” right now. I have my bags packed; got my Sonoma Country visitors information in the mail on Saturday – which I have studied so I know all the places I want to see – while I’m visiting the DH09 – after I win (hee hee)…. God Bless us all and good luck to us all as well.
2Cherubs: I'm with you, will HGTV be grooming our GAIL to be the Ambusher? Something is going on? And, yes she would do an excellent job of surprising…I think it would be fitting, especially if one of the bloggers is drawn as the winner…cause we are all like family here in BLOG LAND!!
Wow, I take the day off and the blog explodes!
In case I don’t get through these, back to where I left off at least…
DBCoop – have a great trip and come home safely to us all.
Good luck to everyone!
Laila – It was a long journey but I finally reached your post.
When is your tour? If anyone knows, please repost it. I will check back here and on any new site too. I look forward to hearing back from you.
It’s been raining and also thunderstorms are expected for today and the next couple of days! Won’t we look just gorgeous! *^*
Good Morning!
I have not posted on the blog, but I have been reading occasionally. With all the negativity floating around on the internet, it is nice to feel such positive energy! I am sure whomever wins will be deserving! Blessings to you all!
From snowy Pa,
Li
p.s. I am curious as to how some seem to know how the “ambush” works. I read the rules as well. Lovelykitty, do you know a previous winner?
Hi Guys,
Well, it’s been a vey busy time for me but THANK GOD I AM SNOWED IN TODAY!!!!!
Not even HGTV can find me, thank GOD it’s not MARCH 15th, I look outside and all I see is snow, the first thing i said was GOOD I CAN BLOG TODAY, ah ha. good excuse, my wool pants waist band would have to wait until next week, I’m majoring Fashion design guys.
Hey guys, just think, If today was MARCH 15th, my eyes would have popped right out of my head trying to look through the snow to see if HGTV is comming, to make matters worst the gate can’t open because of the snow, My landlord didn’t show up as yet. imagine me calling him up at 5:00 AM to clear it just to make sure HGTV gets to the door. oh, HGTV I got a new intercom, it was installed on Saturday, 1R PLEASE. my bell wasn’t working for a whole year guys! but now it will be working on MARCH 15th. good.
I felt like I was being followed lately, I even saw a cowboy on a high tech phone staring straight at me and reporting, No kidding, so I did a zigzag on him in the Duanne Reade only to find him at the door on my way out still reporting, I flashed him a smile and dashed across the street.
Do you think HGTV is that SNEAKY? I know it’s ambush style but this jungle girl is very hard to catch up with so I’ll make it very easy for them, I’ll be home on the 15th.
with lemmonaide on the stoop, brooklyn style. I wonder if they eat fried bakes and stew codfish? they might have to try it that day. no kidding. nothings wrong with trying some new food.
Guys I started cleaning already, but is wondering where to put my storige boxes, gosh you think they would notice? maybe I’ll hide them under the bed. My bed is custom made guys, 6 nine year old fit under it with ease for my daughter’s sleep over party and 6 of them sleep on top so I’ll stash some boxes under there.
I hope you guys are preparing for the surprise, I was wondering if I should dress as an Island woman wearing a multicolored dress sweeping the ground, but that might restrict mt from jumping, me might have to just mek a big knot on one side ah de dress and put a basket ah fruits on me head. Lord have mercy, come see me on March 15th I hope I don’t scare HGTV away.
Wow, You juys might think I’m nutts but I have nothing better to do today, so I thought about cracking you guys up a bit.
Love Always
Esla Sincalir NY
Watch out for the typo’s they hit hard and as for the dialect (broken English) jut read it as is.
One Love
Esla
Hey what am I reading? I think it’s the people on the blogs keep HGTV Dream Home aspect Exciting along with others who watch the show and enter the sweepstake so ALL WHO ENTERE STAND A FAIR CHANCE!!! snubish rubish about we don’t stand a chance. If I don’t win its because I wasn’t the lucky one, I don’t think its because I blogged my chances are doomed. Come on guys KEEP HOPE ALIVE will Ya!!!
Esla Sinclair
WHO WILL WIN?? Only HGTV will know for the next two weeks as they rustle around preparing for their ambush! Watch your shadow, and maybe you will find something out of the ordinary..maybe a friend or family member starts acting weird..an unexpected get-together is planned? Who knows it could be YOU!! Or, it could be ME?
For now, I will keep on singing my words for DREAMING:
“No words, no talk.
We’ll go dreaming
No pain, no hurt.
We’ll go dreaming
Walk with me,
The future’s at hand.
Here with us,
Here where you stand.
We both know the power of pain,
We get back up and start it again.
With new hope, no place for tears,
Leave behind those frozen years.
Come with me and we’ll go dreaming.
We don’t know how it can be,
Searching out dignity.
Nothing can be as savage as love,
One taste is never enough.
With new hope, no place for tears.
Catch my hand and come with me.
Close your eyes and dream.
No words, no talk.
We’ll go dreaming
No pain, no hurt.
We’ll go dreaming
No words, no talk.
We’ll go dreaming
No pain, no hurt.
We’ll go dreaming
We’ll go dreaming
(repeat)
We’ll go dreaming.
We’ll go dreaming.
We’ll go dreaming.
We’ll go dreaming.
We’ll go dreaming.
We’ll go dreaming.
We’ll go dreaming.
We’ll go dreaming.
We’ll go dreaming.” Artist: BT
YES, I DREAM BIG!!!
4dewdrops: Snow in Georgia? Against all that red dirt!! Must be beautiful..I do remember the icy-cold mornings in Georgia as a child…mud puddles frozen over, but never snow. We had snow in Brookings, Oregon, earlier this year, and it was absolutely beautiful..what a sight to see…snow at sea level!! Our beach had snow on the driftwood..sooooo pretty!
Katydid: How did you know my twins were Hans & Heidi? Did I post that? Also, loved the visual I got when you mentioned the Powder Room Photo of Coop! Such an imagination you have, and you surely put a smile on my face this morning!! Oh yeah, also good luck with the Mega Millions on Tuesday night with an estimated value of $211,000,000! WOW!!!
Jbonnevi: My best to your dad’s full recovery!! I lost both my parents to cancer some years ago, but not a day goes by that I don’t miss seeing & talking with them! Take advantage of every single day you celebrate with a parent as it is such precious time!
NewJerseyGal: Hope your “Pink” song of words brings you the best of LUCK towards winning the DH2009! Enjoyed your post!!
Jerry: As March Madness begins, all I can say is GO KENTUCKY!!!!
Dear Coop: ????????????????????!!!
What happened there Coop? I translated “have a good trip” in Thai & ended up with ?????..sorry about that! I guess my computer is not as smart as I thought! Anyway, Bon Voyage!!!!
Hey Brenda! That’s right…taxes shmaxes! Who would balk at winning at 2 million dollar home? Not I! ANYTHING won is more than what we had yesterday, so I say bring it on!
Oh, and yes, if I win Mega Millions, the SISBP t-shirts are on me too! Heck, I’d even pay the taxes of the winner of the DH’09! Share the wealth and spread the love.
Marie: Yup, almost 4 inches fell at Hartsfield Int’l Airport, although it got kind of slushy/rainy at times, so not that much stuck to the ground. But, school is out today, so it was a nice time to snuggle under the covers and sleep in a little (well, until 7:30, but that’s better than the 6am wake-up needed to get this crew ready for school)!
I’m just so excited, grinning from ear-to-ear, and hoping/wishing/praying/planning/dreaming that my name will be picked! Woo-hoo!
Gail: Where are you? Are they fitting you for goggles so that they can dump you into that huge bin of millions of entries for the DH2009 drawing? Are they going to elect you to be the one that draws the lucky name? Is that why we haven’t heard from you in a while? I’m sure we will get some GREAT post between today & tomorrow…we miss you!! We are all getting nervous & with exhaulted anticipation wondering whose name will be drawn…will you know who it is Gail? Will you give away any clues? Didn’t think so!! We will all have to wait until March 15th, even though I believe somehow the winner will have some idea what has happened way before March 15th!! I can hardly believe HGTV is so cleavor that they can railroad someone to a particular point to ambush them! It is beyond my comprehension how they do that, but I’m still DREAMING…HOPING…to see a suspicious van in the neighborhood!! I welcome someone to follow me…find out that I will be stuck to my TV on March 15th…so easy…the hardest part will be getting through our gated complex…but hey, just hit B202 & someone will let you in…actually, I guess I could rig the gate to stay open all day on March 15th!! So, come on in…I’LL BE WAITING!!!
Is the selection done by a computer? They’d have to take the mail entries and have them entered first. But if it’s a hand selection I guess they’d print the online entries on cards and put them in the selection bin. Or maybe they just assign both unique numbers and pick from that. It’s interesting to ponder, maybe Gail will share the details with us after the selection tommorrow.
8:18 a.m PST and still no GAIL! Wassup?
WOW. I just took the picture tour again. gets better every time. I AM IN LOVE. I have a beautiful home made swing for that poarch. and lots of wicker, baskets , old and new. and a crippled brother , who could get around, and a bathroom on first floor, GOD how convient.best wishes to all. this time, I am including myself. can’t wait

Dear Gail, I was taking the tour again for the millionth time and I was wondering is there a dishwasher in the kitchen? I did not see one so I thought I would ask.
Entering this contest is better than playing the lottery because there will definitely be a winner. . now the only question is. . .who?!?!?!
Ah yes, Marie Miller, sawasdee krup, our Western-style computers can’t handle the Thai characters. Even when transliterated into the Classical Latin (Romanized) alphabet, they sometimes appear as question marks when printed due to the accents used. Just a quick bit of info there, but thanks for your thoughts and wishes. I’ll do my best to check in on the blogging pace and take in all of the positive excitement during my trip. I’m sure I can get in a post or two if my laptop and overseas connections are good to me.
I have yet to hear from any of HGTV’s Design Stars about accompanying me to Thailand, so I guess I’ll be on my own! Wish me luck getting the place reasonably well put together, since next visit I will definitely stay at the condo, and for an extended time.
Esla, I enjoy your posts, typos and maybe some broken English and all. Who cares, the meaning comes through loud and clear along with your positive vibes. What’s not to love about that?!
Okay, off to take care of getting my hair trimmed, body exercised, and suitcases packed. Time waits for no man, including DBCoop.
Hey! Altruistic bloggers! I’m back finally, I’ve been so busy with my mother who just had a Multiple Stroke – was rushed to emergency – she’s fine now — got her laughing again. Then our tenants leave without notice and my husband & I were stuck with the huge mess – need to replace the carpet and paint the walls again – what a pain and not to mention the expense of it all!
It’s so nice to ‘escape’ to the HGTV Blog and dream again with the rest of you. Let’s keep the dream alive!
Hey Zachery Ellis: If I remember right, there are two dishwashers located in one of the Islands! Wow! Two dishwashers!! Can it get any better?
Marie Miller
Are you sure Gail is not stuck here in NY, with so much snow you can’t find not even a shilling out there, thats why I am happy today isn’t March 15th, girl I can only imagine me walking the hallway to the front door. oh I’m such a dreamer.
Seroius note Marrie don’t you think that the HGTV crew are among us? I can feel their presence and think I know who they are don’t you? I am in on the SISBP and can’t wait to meet everyone. I didn’t tour the home in person but the online tour was good enough.
I am also dreaming about the Megga Millions I should be buying my tickets soon, think I’ll spend a dollar for the Bloggers crew, they are such DREAMERS and full of curiosity.
Maybe that would be the winning ticket and then we all can split the winnings.
Esla Sinclair
BTW – I’m very intuitive and I have the strongest feeling that the ‘WINNER’ will be one of us bloggers, however, I don’t feel as strong for myself or my husband. Although, I’m just very glad I had the chance to DREAM because “Dreams are more precious than gold” and I can’t wait to see who wins this beautiful home!
Good to hear from you Coop!! Who is that dashing man…the one with his hair and body trimmed!! Bags pack, looking dapper & ready for adventure…fun time for 007!! Thank you for explaining what happened with my translations…darn it ’cause the Thai script looked great!! Love their symbolic writing! Do you speak any Thai? Or, will you have a Thai Translation Service person waiting for you at the airport? Or, will you have a handy copy of the “Tongue Thai’d Translator” in your pocket for easy reference? I will have to live vicariouly through you for my traveling abroad, so keep your journal full of exciting adventures to tell..we will look forward to hearing about them! Actually, a good venue would be on live air around March 15th!!! GOOD LUCK Coop & HAVE A GREAT THAI TIME!!!
Katherine: So sorry to hear your mom had a stroke, but I am glad she is doing better and that you got her to laugh. Enjoy precious time with her.
Where is our Super Fan Gail? Your absence is becoming mysterious. I am about to speculate here. I wonder if HGTV is offering her the task of actually being the one to “ambush” the winner! And maybe she is considering it, so HGTV will have to lay down some more rules and regulations regarding this new “task” for her. I think if our Gail is picked for this task, she would do an excellent job!
Please Gail, we are all dying to know what is next!
Good day to all and keep the dreaming alive.
Esla Sinclair: You just never know about the HGTV Crew…and, yes they could be among us..they could be right down the block waiting for you to make a move…they could follow you …find out what your habits are…where you work…where you play…where you dine…who your family is…who your friends are…when you go to bed…when you get up…what car do you drive…they will know everything about you by the time the “Ambush” takes place!! So, be prepared!! On March 15th, make sure you wear something that you want billions of people to see you in…ditch the pink fuzzie shoes & scruffy bath robe…you’re going to want to look your best! Maybe go to the beauty shop the morning of the 15th…get your hair done, get your nails done..go to the spa so you will be fresh and ready!! Who knows, maybe HGTV will have an early Ambush…they could follow you right into the beauty shop!! Yes, they are among us…hurray!! Jump for joy ’cause someone ISSSSSSS going to win this beautiful home in Sonoma, California!! GOOD LUCK!!!
DBCoop
They say a rolling stone gathers no moss.
Do you think that rings true?
I enjoy reading your post and thanks for the positive comments. I’ve got a few bloggers under close observation and its exciting up to this point. Hope you’re keeping up with who they are too Coop. I love that people are so into this with luck I hope that a deserving person wins. It could be you coop or maybe me. GOODLUCK MAN!!
Esla Sinclair
Katherine: So very happy to hear that you have your Mom up and laughing again!! A Multiple Stroke sounds very, very serious. I pray that she has no lasting effects from them!! One of my dearest friends had a stroke two years ago that effected his speech. He is doing great though..has a very supportive wife who drills him every day with speech therapy!! He’s talking very well again!! Anyway, my love and prays for you and your mom…laughter is the best medicine!!
Okay GAIL: I was hoping to catch your next post before having to leave my computer, but life goes on…even in Brookings! So, I look forward to something new and exciting when I get back!!
Ok Marie Miller
You’ve got me looking through the windows already, and very much excited too, I usually do a happy dance after my shower I hope they don’t ambush me then, that would be something. I dance in my living room just to be funny and my daughter would crack up, I would have to cut that out for now if HGTV is that serious. I know they can fit under my bed so I’m filling that up with storage things so they don’t pop out at me and my closet door is blocked, no room for anything so they won’t pop out of there. I have to watch to see if I get a substitute teacher during that time, I’ll be WIDE EYE HGTV i’ve watch you for years I know how you people think.
Marrie Have you heard about the Staging online course? I saw it sometime on HGTV and is interested in taking it. Its for 6 months and I can’t wait to start, but there is just so much on my plate right now. I’ve been touring the whole of NY for a middle School for my daughter, the entire process is spinning my head so after all that is done I hope to start.
As for the my outfit that day I am still considering, do you think the Dream Home colors would work on my Island dress? i’m still wondering where to find a broad basket to put on my head, fruits I can find but the basket needs a whole day for me to find it.
Do you have one in your kitchen Marie?
Esla Sinclair
Good luck DH entrants!
The rules state that the random drawing will take place “on or about March 3rd,” and the ambush will happen “on or about March 15.”
The website gives Mar 15, 8pm, eastern and pacific, as the airtime for the show, but ALSO lists 12am eastern and pacific. Since 12am eastern is the same as 9pm pacific,(the previous night) I suggest we get our housekeeping and grooming done by noon on the 14th.
Beware the ides of March!!!
Esla Sinclair
If I were you I would check out the blogs on Haverhill staging. I did and it changed my mind. Past students tell about their nightmares.
I’m new to this site, but I share in everyone’s enthusiasm!! I pray everyday that I am the winner just like all of you.
Good luck.
Mary Rebecca
Thatnks for the heads up, I will indeed check out, gosh I can only guess, could it really be a nightmare?
Esla Sinclair
Hi all,
to kathrine, My son’s stroke was so severe it affected his speach and communication, allso right arm and hand. he’s just 23, young people have stroke too (i didn’t know untill it happened to him. I’m fighting daily to get the help he needs. therapy is only for a while, then you have to figure out other means. which means paying because insurance only covers so much. I drive 45 minutes to his therapy now, and boy could I use that Acadia for transportation!
My life consists of trying to get my son better, and to be some what more independant, so he will be able to take care of himself one day, if I’m not there.
I WOULD LOVE TO LIVE IN Sonoma it would be our little get away
Keep the songs, poems, and jests coming I love reading them. You all are just the greatest, and so inspirational!
GAIL WE NEED YOU!!!!!!!
Oh my Goodness! Here I am sitting here in my p.j.’s and fuzzy robe ,an inch outgrowth on my hair disshoveled, polish half on and off! Oh My My My That just won’t do, I’m so scary right now its pathetic! Must leave now to beauty salon Hope they have the day booked out for me cause I need extra HELP!!!
Bye for now!
Hi everyone,
been trying to see if anyone is out there blogging. I haven’t been able to see any for today March 3rd. Anyone out there?
wow, i can’t believe I’m a day off. i was looking at the wrong month on my calendar. loosing it. I’m just so excited to see who wins. tee hee hee
Janet D: I’m sorry to hear about your son. After his “covered” therapy, you should look into a local University for speech therapy. My husband is a part of our local University’s Speech Pathology Department and says that services are discounted. There is, however, a waiting list. The graduate clinicians are enthusiastic about helping their clients and do their BEST to help them in their recovery. Doctors are always shadowing them any way so your son will always have the best. Just a suggestion.
