  2. The tour was awesome! It gave me a chance to look closely at the floors which are magnifying! I love this house! It is so perfect for my daughter, my poodle Max, and me. HGTV thank you for allowing those not privledged enough to be there for the tour to see the house and its embellishments up close and personal. What a great house down to the nooks and crannies! Mr. Ledson, also hats off to you for donating all the proceeds from the tour to children in need you are definitely a man after my own heart! Having spent some years as a Pediatric nurse, children are my first love and any gesture toward children that need love and assistance the most and to receive it from someone as fortunate as you are has earned his place in heaven! May you continue to be blessed and prosperous. Oh, with all that said, like many others I'm still waiting…Good luck to all. Shelley, Cleveland, OH.

  3. This may have already been answered before, but I don’t see it in the “where to buy” section of the Dream Home. Does anyone know where the coffee table in the family room is from? I do not see it on Ethan Allen’s website. Thanks you, and good luck to all! Some lucky person is growing closer to their dream…so exciting!

  4. Wow! Another great video. This home is absolutely beautiful, with so many fantastic features. I love that there are two pantries. Thanks again for all of the extra information.

  5. I absolutely LOVE this HOME— I Want it So Bad— Sorry, but I don’t even want the 09′Green Home in Florida— I WANT THIS ONE!!! It is so PERFECT, down to every little detail. The closets, drawers, hidden pantries, pin cushion on wall (not to mention the Interior Decorating) — I’ve never seen a home like this one!!!!

If I were to be the Lucky Winner, I’m so glad that the tour guide took Extra Care in having everyone take their shoes off too!!!

Whoever wins this house is Truly Blessed. I looked at the past HGTV giveaways— and this home in Sonoma without a doubt,is their Best!
Good Luck again everybody— the date is really Close Now

  6. I also think that Steve Ledson did a wonderful gesture by donating the proceeds to a community cause for disadvantaged children. Think of it this way, he could have tied the tours to benefit his hotel or winery, but instead, donated all of the proceeds. I could see how the HGTV Home has already, maybe even in a small way, benefitted the Sonoma community

  7. omg im so excited. how have we gotten through these past few weeks of anxiety with only a few more days to go, i might explode, but then again the support on the blog has been the best. This house is gorgeous the video great, living in brooklyn and working a new nursing job I couldnt get out to see the home, sooooo GRATEFUL for this clip, even though i dont have sound on my work comp. CANT WAIT TO WIN!!!

  8. My family lives in the Bay Area and we are currently renting, this home would be a wonderful blessing to us as I could keep my job and even be able to afford to get my graduate degree. I have been tempted many times but we have not gone on the tour because I don’t want to break me, or my wives heart, if we don’t get the house.

    Good luck to all.

  9. Your tour clip is GREAT!! LOVE IT!!! So many attributes went into the designing and decorating this delicious home…like, the “swap-out” art work; the warming drawer in the kitchen; all the beautiful design art; the hide away ironing board & hamper; the fabric wall bulletin board; the gorgeous canopy over the bed; the hide away hamper in the bedroom; the two pantries in the kitchen, etc. etc. etc. etc.!!!! Soooo many items of beauty & also practicality for every day living. THANK YOU GAIL & THANK YOU HGTV for giving us yet another fabulous way to DREAM BIG!!

Also, a huge THANK YOU to STEVE LEDSON for his outstanding helping hand in providing the tours at the DH2009 to raise money for the Harmony Foundation! His gesture of generosity for the disadvantaged children in Sonoma County is heartwarming & a GREAT incentive for other communities!! I’m thinking that the SIS GROUP could add to the cause by donating a fee when we all gather at the Ledson Winery for all of our reunions! A good faith effort in giving is a blessed event!!

GOOD LUCK to everyone that participated in the upcoming GIVE-AWAY!! This one tops the charts, & I’m sure HGTV has there moles out and about to secretly find a fun & exciting way to Ambush the WINNER!!

  14. What a wonderful video with more fantastic information! Thanks. Love how the proceeds went towards a children’s charity. Awesome!

I couldn’t agree with Gail enough about the light fixture in the stair well.

The amazing double pantries is well planned. I loved how the baking sheets had their spaces. And the height of the shelves accomodates the size of Kitchen Aid items.

  19. Does anyone know if there is a bathroom downstairs? All I can find are the bathrooms upstairs located in the bedrooms. Seems a bit odd that there isn’t a toilet and sink downstairs for guests. Having to send guests upstairs and into a bedroom just to use the bathroom is kind of weird.

Rachel Rivera on March 6, 2009 at 12:11 pm
  20. HGTV,

I am so glad you guys featured this video. The information is great, especially highlighting the many facets of Steve Ledson (even though Gail has interviewed him before).

    Gail,

You’re great as a Super Fan. Hope this exposure opens more doors of opportunity for you.

Lessie on March 6, 2009 at 12:24 pm
  21. JessiRose, I by your comment am confused comment…I had thought the notification si done by an “ambush” style surprise to the winner? I thought this happens on March 15th. I know it is a long shot for all, but let’s keep hope alive! Good Luck!

Elizabeth on March 6, 2009 at 12:25 pm
  22. Wow, that came out all wrong! Anyway, I am pretty sure the are going to surprise the winner…I think that means there is no advance notice.

Elizabeth on March 6, 2009 at 12:26 pm
  23. I hope so. It just seems strange to me that everyone is so easy to find for them. I am guessing that they contact the family and let them know they are a finalist or something before the 15th. Really no one knows how the process goes (including me), its all speculation.

JessiRose on March 6, 2009 at 12:35 pm
  24. Thanks again to GAil & HGTV for reeling me in to the excitement surrounding DH2009! Finally, I’ve returned to the blog from a busy work schedule, and snow shoveling duties.

I think its very cool how so many practical ideas were incorporated into the DH09 design. As Superfan pointed out in the video, there is a “rhyme-or-reason” to the necessity of dual pantries in the kitchen. Additionally, the laundry hamper thing in the MB is very helpful.

Oh! I thought it very well mannered to make a point that all visitors are still wearing cozy slippers in the DH. I sure wouldn’t want “scuffs” on the new walnut floors. Furthermore, until the winner is announced, I don’t mind envisioning myself doing the “Risky Business Slide” across the Foyer playing “air guitar”.

“STILL LIKE THAT OL’ TIME ROCK-N-ROLL!”

Deryck on March 6, 2009 at 12:43 pm
  25. Really, I see no consistency in the ways winners have been notifies, some were ambushed, others were notified ahead of time or in some cases both methods were used. Also I think the winner must agree not to discuss the method of notification because none of the past winners said anything about it. Just my two cents…

Adefayobi on March 6, 2009 at 12:46 pm
  26. So exited!

  27. i love this wonderful dream home. It’s everything i ever dream of. Please someone tell me is there a big tv in the master bedroom. Everyone have a nice and wonderful day and keep dreaming big. I am praying for this home and for everyone else thats is a dream come true for them.

Alicia on March 6, 2009 at 1:23 pm
  28. I am suprised that some people on here have already given up hope on winning. They wont announce the winner until the 15th. They could already have the winner picked out and not plan on telling them until the 15th. Either way, it is still going to be SOOOO exciting to watch on TV. You bet your little tushes that I will be watching! Oh and keep hoping, who knows what could happen. :)

Stephanie on March 6, 2009 at 1:26 pm
  29. THANKS GAIL FOR THE GREAT VIDEO! Pictures and the 360 just doesnt do the house justice. I love watching the video’s because they make it feel more “real”. The Harmony Foundation sounds like a GREAT thing. I think that it would be perfect for me to win (like fate) seeing as my oldest daughter’s name is Harmony! Well I keep looking out my back window of my car as im driving around town. Just incase there is someone tailing me~heehee! I keep trying to bring myself back to reality and thinking the 1 in 39mil is not very good odds but something in my heart wont let me let it go! So I keep on DREAMING BIG. It has to happen to someone so why not ME right?

    Good Luck and God Bless~

Renee on March 6, 2009 at 1:35 pm
  30. Yes Alicia, there is a BIG flat screen TV in the Master bedroom. I think it’s too big to be in a bedroom, but my husband just loved it.

lovelykitty on March 6, 2009 at 1:37 pm
  31. Thank you Stephanie you are so right.STAY POSITIVE!!! DREAM BIG!! GOOD LUCK EVERYONE.

Tamara on March 6, 2009 at 1:54 pm
  32. I love the new video! Being a stay at home mom I LOVE the hidden hamper! What a great idea! I hate seeing the dirty clothes in their bins waiting to be washed. I also LOVE the pantries because I have a lot of appliances that I am always digging out of my deep cupboards and being in my last stretch of pregnancy they are getting harder to get at.

I have my hope back though about being the winner! I havn’t watched the dream home specials in a few years (no cable) but I am starting to think they really are going to wait until the 14 or 15th to do their surprise! Gosh I sure hope so! The ferry leaves for Juneau today! Get on there HGTV!

Debbie Lee on March 6, 2009 at 3:42 pm
  35. What an amazing home! Gail is really cute too!
Does anyone know what they do if the person chosen is not at home? We’ll be in Disney World during the drawing… not that we even have a slim chance of winning… lol. From seeing the announcements of the prior winners, it looks like there is a contact person that already knows. Gotta love the internet!

    Angela M on March 6, 2009 at 4:05 pm
  36. How do they ever choose? I will be waiting I know I will be home because of my lovely disabled children will be with me. I am in a fantasy hoping we will have a home close to the rest of my family. My favorite quote “Don’t be afraid to fail be afraid of not trying”(facebook). This is how I have made it through just keep trying.

    Good luck to all!

  38. I’ve watched those past winners reactions videos several times and they truly DO seem surprised. I’m still holding out hope! Thanks for another video Gail. When do we get to see those in depth videos of the drawing??

Laurie on March 6, 2009 at 5:06 pm
  39. I saw that video a couple days ago, and the past winners, actually I think I’ve watched every clip there is a few times. I hope the next one is of myself. What did you think of last years winner, I don’t think she seemed excited. What about the ambush if the winner is not home that very moment what does Chi do, I just wonder how it works?

Terri on March 6, 2009 at 5:30 pm
  40. They will find you.

  43. I believe someone asked about this a couple of blogs ago…the “where are they now” stories of the past winners. Well, I just found this article:
    http://www.docstoc.com/docs/3056404/Dream-Home-Winners-Where-Are-They-Now

    Keep dreaming!

    Audra M on March 6, 2009 at 7:01 pm
  44. Audra, thanks for that link! Very interesting. I figure if I don’t get notified by the 11th, that would be the cut off, so they could edit tape, etc (what if someone fainted?) Exciting ;)

Lori on March 6, 2009 at 7:56 pm
  45. Deryck:: Are you a clone of Coop? Are you covering for him while he is in Thailand? Doesn’t matter, I’m, in love with you both, as well as Marie Miller, as well as the Dream Home in Sonoma, as well as all the blogger friends I have made. The excitement is building….Good Luck to all. and please be kind when you watch the reveal. Keep your posts positive. Special love to Mr. Ledson. I love the children too!

  46. Nobody lurking about my neighborhood yet, nobody I don’t recognize calling me on the phone. What is going on HGTV? I thought you would have called me by now. Are you waiting until the 15th to surprise me?
I don’t get out much, I don’t have any friends to speak of, just my family and they are busy with their lives also. There isn’t anyone you could get to surprise me, nobody I know anyway.
You are more than welcome to just drop in, I am here waiting for you, fingers crossed, heart racing, but my hope is not fading, not just yet anyway.
Here I am HGTV come and surprise me!!!

DaddysDarlin on March 6, 2009 at 8:24 pm
  47. Here I am, HGTV – ready to be surprised! Can’t wait til the 15th! Thank you and God Bless each and everyone of you at HGTV – thanks for the dreams!

Jennifer on March 6, 2009 at 8:34 pm
  48. ooops, my bad – I hit the “post comment” button too quickly! I also wanted to thank Mr. Ledson and all the wonderful sponsors this year!!! I can’t wait to meet and personally thank Mr. Ledson as well as Jack, Linda, John, Kim, Monica!!!! Thank you, Mr. Ledson for your wonderful generosity as well.

Jennifer on March 6, 2009 at 8:39 pm
  49. Sigh… The highs, the lows….. The paranoia! (Should I have answered that blocked call? How is calling my co-worker over there? And just who was that “alleged” real estate agent who showed up last week (when I was home sick and looked like a rat dragged through a swamp!)?, Etc).

I’m glad I’m not the only one catching the crazy! I have never aggressively tried to win a contest like this before. And yes, I think most of us got gentle teasing from our loves ones (esp. those w/ some grounding in statistics!). But for one very lucky soul, all the waiting, praying, and entering will all be worth it.

Having no inside information whatsoever, I would *imagine* that last week was all about choosing, background checks, and mobilizing camera crews, etc. (that all takes time). Also, no way are they “pouncing” on the same day they broadcast, these guys are professionals and will need time to edit, etc. So my best guess would be that this weekend and/or by early next week, the winner will be approached. So it may not be time to give up hope yet!

(HGTV: I’m waiting……… Got a plan to pay for it, a “great” sob story, am very community minded, and we LOVE THAT AREA. You want me, I know it!;) )

Estimated entries: 50-60 online / ~100 mail in. Don’t seem that much out of 35 million, do they?

    Did I mention “sigh”……

Baraka Dreaming on March 6, 2009 at 9:09 pm
  50. A few weeks back, I was on my way to the post office. It was such a beautifull day, I decided to go on a little treasure hunt to see the dream home for myself. And there I was at the entrance to the Ledson Hotel. I asked if there was a tour available, and there was! I was the only one there that day, and was kind of taken on my own private tour! while I was there I was able to browze around and touch fabrics and the textures of tables, it was awsome! The little guest bath down stairs is cute, the glass is surrounded by small cuts of tree peices the size of nickles, above the pedistal basin. All the bedrooms have walk-in closets. There is supposed to be an intercom system for 1st and 2nd floors. Didn’t see a phone nor a computer (have to bring our own!). Back yard is just right but needs to be inclosed for the kritters, as our neighbor has a dog, be carefull kitties!! We’ll need to clean the bar-b-que as Bobby flay didn’t clean-up, hopefully he’ll come back and host the sisbp party and stay to help on clean-up?
The Ledson people at the Hotel were a freindly down to earth group. Made me feel very welcomed.
I’M SO GLAD I TOOK THAT LITTLE TRIP. CAUSE FOR A MOMENT IT FELT LIKE it was MINE. And am still hoping and praying that I still have a chance. Waiting impatiently!!!
Well one more day down not too much longer now, its like waiting for a baby to be born!
The anticipation is driving me crazy….and I guess thats just what my family is thinking! Its been really fun.I’ve never done this before, didn’t really have a computer to play around with. I know why the kids get so addicted, its kind of cool!
Hope you all are having fun too, take care!
