It is over!
Oh, I did see an asian women at my place of employment talking on her cell and I heard her giving directions. Maybe they are trying to find me! LOL
Wow, the doggie dream house is so much bigger than i anticipated. Very nice.
Were is the video exclusive of the selection process we were promised. I hope we get it on monday….
I have officially given up hope of winning, but still can’t get enough of the blogs and excitement.
I don’t think it’s over until it’s over. I will still be dreaming until the 15th when I know for sure it will not be me as the winner this year.
Faith and hope are funny things, you just don’t turn them on and off like your faucet, they are part of your makeup as a human being.
I will forever have faith and a hope in my heart that sometime in the near future it will be me chosen as the winner!
Until that time, I wish you all the best of luck and may one in true need win the home!!!
For the person who said “it’s over”. The reason last year’s winner had her door open is because a family member knew about her winning ahead of time, and invited the guests. That’s how they have been doing it the last few years at least. I believe she did not know because nobody could know ahead of time and fake it that badly. She really had to be in shock to have had such a numb-nothing look on her face. I think she might have even been confused. Personally, I wondered if she had an intense disagreement with a family member (husband maybe) just before the cameras approached because she seemed upset and angry as the camera crew came inside the door. Then bam, she was on TV and had to switch gears. Just my take on the situation. Plus, even television has regulations and rules. You cannot claim an event is live if it is prerecorded. If you’ll notice on the reruns of other “live” shows there is a disclaimer somewhere that it was recorded earlier.
BoBo and I THANK YOU for all the nice comments! It was difficult for me to keep my BIG mouth shut about shooting the video with Gail. If you can believe it,we were there for over an hour shooting various scenes.
So far, Bo has not received any offers from
Purina,Milk Bone,or Petco…but I’ll keep the phone on “loud” so not to miss any future
commercial work for the “Super-dog” from Sonoma!!! Ingrid from Sonoma
ps…still LOTS of looky-loos at the DH
So, if they did the drawing on the 4th, probably contacted a private investigator and started making travel plans on the 5th, got some basic info and preliminary ideas/plans about the person and ambush possibilities around 6th or 7th. So They arrive on the 8th and do some initial tracking down and watching the routine of the winner for a couple of days (combining their info with whatever the private investigator came up with) and by the 10th they have an idea of which family member they might contact to make arrangments for the ambush. Couple of days to set those plans in place between the ambushers and the ambushee…… camera crew checks out the place they agree to do the ambush….. I’d venture to say that everybody still has a good chance of being the one they chose, and this is not a done deal. Keep hope alive!
BLESSINGS!!
It has been a very long night for me, I think I had a nightmare, I heard myself saying “GOTTA BLOG, GOTTA BLOG” I believe my little fingers were going past 190 miles per hour, that’s serious stuff guys.
I see some people are giving up already, hmm whatever happens to KEEP THE DREAM ALIVE, we know HGTV have this event EVERY YEAR right?
so this dream only dies when HGTV anounces that there will be no more free DREAM HOMES to give away. Then I’ll scew up my face and push up my mouth and bury the dream, UNTIL THEN I am STILL on the ship wheither an ambush or not and I’ll be watching LOTS and LOTS of HGTV.
ANOTHER DEBI: glad you know about coconut dumplings, cooked in coconut milk with some yam and dasheen with multiple meats. To die for. If I don’t win that will be my sunday dinner to cheer me up, I’ll eat for all the bloggers. anyone care to join me are welcome, but you have to come to New York.
DERICK: my man, you ain’t see personality yet! I am GEMINI, however it only comes out when I am writing. in person I am quite reserve until I am pissed off. but overall I love to make people happy. I am a true HUMANITARIAN.
JANINE: Love that you feel so strongly about the kids EDUCATION, I think it’s the key to their future endeavors. I’m in the process of choosing a middle school for my daughter and it is something. The process is quite overwhelming, thanks for this blog, I can take my mind off it for a bit. Keep doing the right thing for the children.
KATYDID: Thank you! I am a published POET and do have hopes in publishing some books, I focus on poetry and children book for the moment. I am getting manuscripts together, been looking at Author House so soon maybe you can support my efforts. you can read and rate my poems at poetry.com I write under Stapleton also. you will find me on myspace.com/poeticfever hey I can try to sing too you know, everybody does it.
I think I saw Coop in New York, (*:*) or maybe not don’t know but a very happy man saw me in Barnes and Nobles childrens section and said that he liked the vibe there then asked if people come here every day, I try to get him to stay a little so I can see if he was really with hgtv but he hurried off. I know hes from out of town for everyone knows that the children section at that store is rated the best in the city. I wanted to call out, Coop!! but I remained a lady.
Hope EVERYONE remained calm at least until next sunday. we can cry together on monday if we don’t win I Promise. KEEP DREAMING.
Esla Sinclair
Esla: Thank you for your words of encouragement…we all want to fulfill our BIG DREAMS!! Just curious, how did you know what Coop looks like?
Katydid: I promise IF you, or I, win the DH2009, we will have a party that will be long remembered in Sonoma!!
Deryck: YOU’RE HIRED!! Your resume is flawless…HGTV would be crazy not to hire you!! A guy that knows how to change a baby diaper!! [X] Yes
Brenda: I just wanted to let you know that I couldn’t agree with you more, so I, too, will shout out to First Lady Michelle Obama, because I feel she is the fresh new air that we need in this country! She is a strong woman, a great First Lady and a wonderful mother! This is probably not the right venue for our opinions, but it is sooo worth stating!! So, thank you!!!
OKAY, I waited around Fred Meyers yesterday for a long time waiting to see a suspicious van in the parking lot! I sat at my window for countless hours watching Highway 101 to see if anyone turned out on the look-out just before you reach Rainbow Rock condos..nope…nothing!! I have not given up though as I truly believe HGTV will be finished with there computer tracing & will have all the information they need to make a phone call on Monday…it may be to my husband, or maybe my neighbor (if HGTV was paying attention to this blog, they will know her by name & where to reach her)! Okay, I’m still dreaming…who knows it could happen!?? It is going to happen to one very lucky person out of 59 million eligible individuals!! So, do not give up on your DREAMS…ever!!
Coop: Did you forget your lap top again? Were you really in Barnes and Nobles in New York? Do you have an identical twin?
P.S. DID YOU REMEMBER TO SET YOUR CLOCKS AHEAD AN HOUR?
Okay, there..should be spelt as a possessive….their!!!
My Theory: They contact the family members of the winner and say that they are a finalist.
Reasons: 1) On the ambush at the resturant they say that the son was suprised that his dad won even though he knew he was a finalist. 2) the last dream home the winner said that she thought this might be a possibility when her husband gathered everyone on that day. 3) everytime HGTV has been able to find everyone quickly and they usually have family around.
Just my theory. It is a theory though so if someone finds me in a week I won't tell them "hey, you aren't supposed to be doing it this way!" no way! I will jump up and down and be so happy that I was wrong.
any guesses on where the winner will be from? my guess is east coast.
okay there is no way they could have the ambush early and keep it secret. even though the potential winner may be sworn to secrecy what about the nosey neighbor who saw the whole thing. besides in videos of past winners they immediately jump on the phone to spread the good news so my guess is the ambush will be on the 15th as promised
My take is it’s within a couple of days because the 2007 winner did a press conference and everything with the local media, so I believe it has not happened yet because in our “internet” world, it will spread fast. Now, with that being said, it doesn’t mean they haven’t contacted “finalists” or even a family member and gotten the ball rolling in some way. I’m keeping my dream alive until my birthday (the 14th!). Then I will once again watch the show with my daughter
and see who the lucky person was…
Marie Miller,
I am guessing that COOP is of fundamental importance in this event, sometimes I can’t tell the difference between him and DERICK, but me saying I think he is in NY was only to show that I think he’s apart of the HGTV team. he could be somewhere locating the winner or helping with the surprise. its odd isn’t it. The SUSPENCE CONTINUES, don’t know exactly what he looked like but he striked me as COOP’s personality, curious, fun, and outgoing. I could be wrong.
Esla Sinclair
I live in a College town..here EVERYBODY looks suspicious…he,he,he
Chip: A wonderful post. You related it to sports, but it could also apply to the entertainment business. "If you are not the winner, move on to your next dream". (well, I'm paraphrasing, but you said it much better}. Thank you.
Hi Esla: Yeah, it could be that Coop is part of the HGTV GANG…that is why I named him 007 a long time ago! You know, SECRET AGENT MAN!! Doesn’t really matter ’cause he has been so inspiring & I love his commentary so much, I would overlook any deception! None the less, I really do believe he is enjoying the great Thai hospitality right now & he’s also looking forward to the announcement of the DH2009!!
I was just thinking this morning, I really do in all SINCERITY hope that a well-deserving family wins this beautiful home. I know it would be almost impossible for them to actually live in it permanently, but just think what the money could mean in their lives? I’m not giving up my DREAM, but I just think of how many families are in trouble these days financially! Okay, enough! I just want to say, “GOOD LUCK to everyone!!”
I used to love to tour the past HGTV Dream Homes and the past HGTV Green Home, but when the new HGTV.com website started, all the online tours stopped working. Will this even be fixed?
Thank you Ynotme for your POSITIVE outlook that’s what I think too ! Marie Miller also thank you for your nice words on this.STAY POSITIVE EVERYONE!!
What if they notify the winner on 3/13/09?
I will NOT give up the dream ever! Atleast not until they anounce the winner. Then my dream will move on to the Green Home. Well unless I am the winner of the DREAM HOME! I love that house. It is just so beautiful. <3 I really do hope that this home goes to someone that will love it just as much as I would. I also hope that IT IS one of us bloggers. One more week! Then we will know. Hang in there you all!
By the way I added ~IN to the end of my name. Used to be just Renee.
Keep your heads UP!
INGRID….BOB LOOKED SO HAPPY IN THE DOGHOUSE…DIDN’T REALIZE HOW ROOMY IT WAS…AND YOU ARE A BEAUTIFUL, LOVELY NATURAL LOOKING WOMAN…THE PHOTO DIDN’T DO YOU JUSTICE!!! ARE YOU SCANDINAVIAN….LOOKS LIKE IT?
Marie Miller,
I’d say that twice!! Financial truoble comes even when you don’t expect it. One can’t even afford to get sick these days, I choose to go back to school and loose 25% of my pay on top of that my boss didn’t declare any federal nor state witholdings on my W2 so you know what that means I got to pay the UNCLE I never had. yet does it damper my spirit not at all, One can only do so much and for me I do my best. there will be changes in life, a person’s situation WILL change for the better or worst, but it is only those who choose to make a positive out of it regardless will stand the test of these tough financial times. it might take a few years to bounce back but at least with a plan in place it will work out. I AM STILL BOUNCING BACK from inflamatin on the brain, which left me in a gut rut but to complain about it will get me more sick, so I just live and do just what I can. So fello bloggers the worst thing to do is worry when things are not going your way. stay focus and fight like you never did before.
One of my friends husband got deported leaving her with her son and 40.000 in debt, a situation that she had no control over, so one doesn’t plan for failure it sometimes just happen.
Another of my friends brother went back to his country to recieve his Green card, and was killed in the taxi minutes after he landed, tragedy, what can his wife and kids do. its just to say things do happen.
Hope I did not bring anyone down today.
Are we still dreaming here? great.
It really is great that HGTV does this every year. Hope one of us is furtunate to win.
Hey Marie did I tell you that my middle name is BROKE thes days. until the economy is fixed that is.
One Love
Esla Sinclair
should be BROKE these days
I will NOT give up the dream ever! Atleast not until they anounce the winner. Then my dream will move on to the Green Home. Well unless I am the winner of the DREAM HOME! I love that house. Like Jackie, I believe the winner has already been contacted, but I also believe “it’s not over until it’s over”. You never know what can happen. There are a million things that could disqualify the first choice, and that’s why there is a runner up.
I really, truely believe there is not a chance I will win, especially this late in the game, but I still leave a note on my front door when I have to go away
BTW, in that one in thirty nine million chance I would win, everyone here is invited to a backyard bar b q!
How are they going to contact a family member when they only have one number. I gave them my cell number. I’m the only one who answers it. I feel too many of us are giving up. Keep it Alive.
Ingrid and BoBo – I just made my way to the video with Gail interviewing you and BoBo. Okay, those of us with dogs all think our dog is the cutest or best; however, BoBo is adorable and should be in commercials. My Gracee will enjoy playing with BoBo at the dog park.
It is a quiet Sunday here in So. Cal., just waiting and dreaming about who will be the lucky winner. I have read, thankfully only a few postings, where people have given up dreaming on the DH09 or they feel the winner is already notified.
Allow me a brief moment to share with you a life lesson I learned what seems like a long time past. In sports, the player is conditioned to never stop or quit play until the whistle, horn or other notification apparatus sounds. Never give up on a dream or your dreams until the final whistle. In this case, it is dreaming about a life-changing event and on March 15 if you are not the winner, then the whistle blew. Move on to your next dream, which fuels the imagination to dream of great things.
Keep on DREAMING BIG!
My family and dog Zoe are waiting for our place in the Son-oma. “God knows the meaning”
We got a word from a famous person…who said that: “God would give us vineyards that we didn’t plant and houses that we didn’t build.” We sure hope that this is the one. A place in the sun! Seek 1st the kingdom of God and everything else will be added to you.
“Don’t stop believin’, Hold on to the feelin’”!
Tamara in Alaska
Until March 15th, keep the DREAM Alive! Happy Dreaming Everyone!
Ingrid: Have you thought about contacting the Advertising Agencies for the dog foods? Any Account Executive worth his/her salt would jump on the chance to at least present “BoBo Super-Dog of Sonoma to their respective clients. Just an idea, because BoBo is so adorable (as are many, many other pooches) but he is already famous, at least on this blog.
Keep the Dream alive and thank you HGTV.
This is THE PERFECT DREAM HOME in the PERFECT PLACE.
STEVE LEDSON IS MY HERO. Giving to the children of the Sonoma community. I am California Dreaming. I believe that the ambush will be in Racine, WI, more specifically, MY HOUSE. Good luck to all of us DREAMERS. The winner should give back to Sonoma as Steve did.
Fellow Bloggers: You have all responded to everything else I wanted to say, but a note about Jacqueline. Ynotme: You were right on, But after her negative posts, she had a little glimmer of hope, so I think she was just trying to prepare herself for disappointment. She certainly didn’t rain on our parade, dreamers. We love HGTV, the Dream Home in Sonoma, the Green Home, and the fun of this blog where we have met so many wonderful people. Where else would you read that Coop was spotted in a book store in NY? Vibes are so telling and mine are saying hi to Brenda and her “girls”. and also that it’s time for me to quite for tonight.
Nope, have to say hi to 2 cherubs and 4 dewdrops. You are always on my mind and in my prayers.
Now. Pleasant dreams.
Have you changed your time, HGTV?
Now I’ve done a MM. Meant quit for tonight Yes.
I was looking thru video’s and they were showing the outside of the house and low and behold guess who I saw walking on the sidewalk??? Ingrid & BOBO! I even drew it back so I could watch it again~hehehe. Wow you 2 really are famous!
What a letdown it’s going to be for BoBo and I after all the excitement of the DH fades away ! I guess my husband and I can filter thru all the offers that Bo should(rightfully) be receiving…and we will definitly be attending the MEGA garage sale that the new owners of the DH will have(since everyone says that they won’t be able to afford to live there!) I wonder how those sofas will fit in my living room? Or I will for sure buy the outdoor furniture and that great lantern on the table. I hope the prices will be reasonable !!! I’ll let everyone know if a garage sale is ever planned…OK? Ingrid from Sonoma
ps…Lily-Beth Reilly; yes,all my relatives are from Denmark. Thank you for the kind words.
Good evening everyone. Thank you for your words of encouragement. I felt if I wasn’t notified by last Friday that it was over for the annoucement. Whoever is the fortunate person to win this house is truly blessed and I will be very happy for the family.
I just wanted to say thank you.
Have a great evening all. Time to watch the RV special

Hello All!
As all of you have suggested that it is not over until it is over; I agree. However, I was not trying to put a damper on dreaming; I am a realist. I believe in dreams and everyone has the right to dream. Reading your posts seems to me that within yourselves you know you have not won, but you are trying to keep just a little hope. That’s fine. I am just saying that in reality, if you have not been contacted by now, you are not the winner. We should be celebrating whomever the winner is. I also was at the salon saturday and ran across this statement in a jet magazine, “Happiness is a secret so dear it can only be whispered!
Kathy: I was not trying to rain on no one’s parade. It seems that when I posted a positive post earlier in this contest, no one responded but MLuciano. Now it seems that my previous post is of a negative nature and I get a response Hmmmmmmmmm! what’s up with that!
Also, I agree whomever posted that a family member cannot be contacted because only the person who entered the sweepstakes number was on the entry. I am just a bit confused on how it all works and everyone here is just speculating. We really don’t know how it is done and maybe we will get a post on Monday on how it REALLY works as promised.
I also believe that, according to the rules, the winner has to complete some paper work prior to the ambush. So, if you haven’t gotten anything before now, it should make you think twice about being a winner.
I am with Jacqueline, but think that if HGTV wanted to get a number of a relative, they can and would, they have done it in the past!
That being said, I am trying to mentally prepare myself for the big disappointment, lol, but never fear, I hope still…
I think it’s going to happen tomorrow or by Friday. I don’t think they will do it before that because the word would get around about the winner. Just what I think and hope.
I to think there is still hope that one of us
is the winner. It makes sense that they will wait until the last possible moment to let the winner know. It will most likely be a day or two before the 15th, so that they can film it “live” and show it on the 15th.
This home is so amazing. I am looking at my cell everyday I feel so anixous I have missed three phone calls from numbers I do not know when I call back it just hangs up
but please you guys for the fun and spirit of things keep your prayers and dreams alive and well! Don’t give up nor in!!! That door bell could be your phone call!!! God Bless everyone connected to these blogs!!
I will continue to search the job market in that area!!! With Faith there must be Action!!
ps I’m willing to help with the grilling at the bbq!!! Luv all of you!
I believe that HGTV can get in contact with a relative is what I meant. I just don’t see how they do it. I also believe that they would not wait right up to the time of the ambush to contact the winner and there’s paper work to be filled out. Remember, in the rules, it states that the winner can be contacted on or about the 15th which means it could have been last week or this week coming. Anyhow, after wednesday, I guess I haven’t won. Unless, of course, my family is keeping it a secret. HMMMMMMMMMM!
Good afternoon everyone, I havn’t had time to blog. I work 60-70 hours a week and I’m a full time student. I have a lot on my plate until i win this wonderful dream home. Hopefully i will be finish with school in Dec. This is my dream home. I has always dream of living in Cal. but was trying to get a degree first in something. I miss Coop to. Everyone just keep dreaming and hope that it is them. I’m praying it is me. God Bless everyone.
in every hgtv give away sweepstakes the winner is always contacted 7-10 days after the drawing and then announced 7-10 days after that. I think it takes that long to do background checks and plan. dont forget most people dont work on the weekends so if the drawing was on tuesday it has only been three business days. hgtv gave themselves two weeks for a reason i would not give up hope until the show on sunday. Besides it seems every year they try to do something different so who know what or when they are planning my surprise or the lucky winners
This was just posted on the website.
Find out who will win the HGTV Dream Home Giveaway, a beautiful wine country home in Sonoma County, California. Monica Perdersen (from HGTV’s Designed to Sell) will showcase the incredible grand prize, while Chi-Lan Lieu will surprise one lucky unsuspecting winner at his or her home to let them know they’ve won.
I am sure some lucky person will find out on Sunday!!
Hello fellow Dreamers! I have not blogged in a while, I was just in the sidelines reading all your wonderful posts and comments. I have been too excited to post anything, and yes, time is really dragging on for me. Much too slow, oh well.
Katydid: Thank you for always thinking of me and 4Dewdrops! I always remember when you asked what direction the Dream Home faced. Remember that?
Ingrid & BoBo: Loved your 15 minutes of fame! Hope there is more to come. BoBo is so cute, he looks huggable.
Well, good luck to everybody, a week from today our waiting will finally end!
