Congrats Cheryl Smith! I guess if she’s not a blogger she doesn’t know about all of us, but that also means we won’t be able to find out if she’s keeping it or selling it.
I hope she realizes how wonderful that home really is and how wonderful if she could keep it, though I know it would be difficult for most of us to have kept it had we won. Whew, the anxiety is over and now on to the next one, yikes, it’s addictive!

Delise, It was Lovelykitty who told us that someone on the message board from Florida said that he saw his neighbor get ambushed by HGTV (Isn’t she a wealth of information). Jacqueline — as many of us thought the winners were notified in advance, I don’t recall anyone getting chewed up — hmmm….the last time some one was chewed up, I think it was ……me….because I said I wouldn’t be donating any money to the winners. But, since this was just my selfish statement, don’t forget the promise some of you other generous people made.
Yep….that is where the message board member said. Lakeland Florida. She lives next door and saw the whole thing.

I hope somehow we can get her on here, if she already isn’t, and invite her to the SISBP. Whether you can attend the one planned for Sonoma or have one of your own in the area you live, Lets all celebrate for the lucky winner and have a party, Lots of dreams, recipes, ideas, and friends were made and shared here. I won the day I meet my lovely new friends in person. I hope to meet even more of you in the near future. And no matter what any nay-sayer may say, I really do feel like this is a family – of dreamers and friends and I am so glad I was a part of this uplifting and wonderful blog.
Congrats to Cheryl!! At least we all know that the winner is notified a week in advance for sure. My husband is much more excited about the Green Home so hopefully thats the one!! i know a Cheryl blogged at some point. Was it her? She was not surprised. LOVELYKITTY’S SOURCE WAS RIGHT AFTERALL!
They obviously tell the person to act surprised as she was wearing a COCACOLA shirt which would have been blurred out had they not given her some $$ to wear it. So many questions were answered here. We celebrated with an early martini and empanadas here in fabulous Cali.

I actually saw the Dream Home special again yesterday and saw when the designers went inside this store in downtown Sonoma. That’s were they bought them. I posted the link to the video.

that would so horrible to sell it…how could anyone do that ?….my dream of owning a home in the state where i live…California…i would drop everything & move to Sonoma….i only live 4 hours away…..Congrats….hope you make a wise decision….
Congrats to Cheryl Smith. She seems sweet as does her husband. She was told she won out of so many entries and she said she has worked harder for so much less lol. She has eight grand children and couldn’t remember how many she had since she was so overwhelmed. She has a son in Lakeland and one in Michigan.

This wasn’t “live”, but it was still fun to watch (mostly because I had figured out that the winner had been chosen a week or so ago – it just had to be ahead of time!) I just wish HGTV wouldn’t advertise it as “live”. Of course, they have to keep everyone guessing so that they CAN sneak up on the winners ahead of time, right? Anyways, I watched here in California at 5:00 PST. They were showing the dream house and it was dark! I’m laughing because the sun was still shining here in Northern California, so that clued me in that this WAS pre-recorded! And when I saw that it was dark in the AMBUSH town, I knew it was back East.
ANYWAYS, way to go Mr. & Mrs. Cheryl Smith of Lakeland, Florida. You are sooooo gonna love living in the California sun.

Lovelykitty, you know how much I love and respect you, and all that you have added to this blog, I will be having a drink tonight…I hope there are no Mariachi Bands but if I email you later and people are getting all nasty , like you said they would, please forgive me now for anything I say or do, I have a wicked sense of humor and a very sharp tongue that I always try to keep in check. But when people hurt me or mine….. I walk away 99.99% of the time, I never want to be like the people who say or do mean things, But .01 -
It was heartbreaking to see my dream home slip away from my hands. It never looked more beautiful than it did tonight….or um, a week ago! I kept looking out the window hoping for a dark haired woman to pull up with balloons! Oh, how my heart sank when she mentioned Florida.
Congratulations to barefooted Cheryl Smith from Lakeland, Florida. She was definitely surprised wearing shorts, a red coca-cola t-shirt and wearing no make-up. A bummer that this all took place last week – something to keep in mind for the HGTV Green Home. It funny how HGTV made it appear as if the whole event was live though – very sneaky of them.
I still plan to send my congratulatory card and donation to Cheryl. I really do hope she gets to keep the house.

Well, if you think about it, they have to keep us in suspense! Of course they can’t ambush anyone on the 15th because everyone would be busy staring out their windows looking for them! ROFL.

The key is to look out your window the week BEFORE the “Live Reveal”. Of course, it would be a bummer to see the “party” at your neighbors, then realize what the party was about, then have to deal with your neighbor for the next week saying stuff like “I wonder who will the Dream Home next week”, and “Sure is a nice home. I just have a feeling they’re gonna announce my name…” and also “Well I’d like to tell you that was the HGTV crew giving me the keys to the Dream Home, but I can’t, until next week that is.”
WELL IT’S OVER…FOR NOW. THEY SEEM LIKE A SWEET COUPLE…HAPPY ….SHE WAS WEARING A RED COCA COLA TEE…..AN UPCOMING SPONSOR….(don’t they usually blot that out…just asking) I, too, am disappointed that they made it seem llive…LOVELYKIDDY…YOU ARE SOMETHING GIRL…YOU’VE BEEN ON THE BALL AND TELLING US THINGS BEFORE WE COULD EVEN AS!! ATTENTION SUPERFAN HUNTERS….TA DA…LOVELYKITTY HERE!! YOU COULD REALLY REPRESENT THE WHOLE SHEBANG! IT WAS A LITTLE ANTCLIMATIC…SO MUCH BUILD UP AND I’M SURE WE HAD SO MANY QUESTIONS THAT WERE NOT EVEN ASKED…LIKE HOW MANY ENTRIES AND HOW ETC. ON AND ON….I’M SURE IT WILL COME OUT….THEY DIDN’T NEED TO SHOW EVERYTHING ALL OVER AGAIN…WE’VE SEEN THE FIREPLACE….THE FOYER….ETC. A MILLION TIMES….IT WAS ALMOST FIVE MINUTES TO GO WHEN THEY ANNOUNED WINNER….SORT OF A LET DOWN…I WISH THEM ALL THE JOY, HOWEVER, OF OWNING THIS GREAT HOUSE…I HOPE THEY CAN AFFORD IT….I HOPE SO….IT WOULD BE GREAT TO HAVE SOMEONE STAY FOR A CHANGE….GOING TO THE OTHER BLOG NOW…

I too wish they had spent more time with the winners, We have all seen the home many times and most people watching tonight had probably entered and seen it too. I was much more interested in the family that won.
Wow, does no one on the west coast have any input or comments about the special?
What the h-e-double hockey sticks is with all the Florida winners? What about some west coast luck? No one deserved that house more than I did. I’ve been watching and waiting for the HGTV to build a DH like this one and it was given to someone else. There goes my desire to watch anything on that network again.

Arrh, my feelings are hurt HGTV, I was really hoping it would be live, but after watching the video clips and seeing the host interviewing her and the family obviously it was done ahead of time. I did find it interesting that Cheryl commented that she is so happy to have a home all paid for?! Not so true, unless the network is going to help pay off uncle sam. Or maybe since they’re retired the have the 700k+ saved. Don’t mean to sound like such a sour puss I’m just a west coaster that would have loved to have won or had someone on this side of the country win. Did anyone else think it was strange that it was only a 1/2 hr show, but on the t.v guide it was blocked for an hour showtime? I’ll still enter next year.
WHY NOT BUILD ONE HOUSE IN EACH TIME ZONE…THEREBY SATISFYING THE INEQUITY IN LOCATION THAT SEEMS TO BE AN ISSUE….THAT WAY THE WESTERN STATES WOULDN’T BE LEFT OUT….IT COULD BE GREEN. OR THEMED FOR THE LOCAL AND POSSIBLY COST SLIGHTLY LESS TO MAKE IT AFFORDABLE. OR HAVE AN EXPENSIVE HOME FOR THOSE THAT WOULD FINANCIALLY QUALIFY WITH THE CAVEAT THAT THEY MUST KEEP THE HOUSE FOR A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF TIME IN ORDER TO ACCEPT IT. THERE ARE A LOT OF VARIABLES HERE….ANY ONE OF WHICH WOULD WORK…THERE COULD BE MORE COVERAGE ON THE WHOLE PROCESS AS THE GIVEAWAY PROGRESSES….ON A TV SHOW MADE FOR THAT PURPOSE …LIKE A ONCE A WEEK SPECIAL. THEY HAVE A BONANZA HERE…I HOPE THEY PAY ATTENTION TO WHAT THE FANS ARE ASKING FOR. AND PLEASE…LETS SUPPORT THE NON AGEISM FACTOR THAT REARED ITS 50′S HEAD REGARDING THE SUPERFAN….I THOUGHT IT WAS A TYPO WHEN I FIRST READ IT….25 YEARS OLD…..REALLY/! IS THAT THEIR CORE AUDIENCE. I HAVE GREAT LOOKING ACTRESS FRIENDS WHO THEN WOULD BE CONSIDERED TOO “OLD”…
