A Hint?

Will HGTV Dream Home 2010 boast an ocean view? Photo by rawkblog4.
I just love all the wonderfully creative comments you’ve posted about the HGTV Dream Home 2010 site location and home design. I’ve compiled quite a list of must-see vacation destinations, that’s for sure!
But now we are getting closer to an announcement. And I am going to throw out a hint as to the location. A piece of eco-friendly decor will lead you in the right direction. This home accessory can be found in one of two photo galleries. Of course, I am not going to tell you what it is or in which gallery you will find it. Check out the HGTV Green Home Guest Bedroom Gallery or the HGTV Green Home Master Bathroom Gallery. Check them out, examine each photo, then come back here to post your theory. No suggestion is too outlandish.
Oh, and while you’re clicking through galleries, don’t forget to enter the HGTV Green Home Giveaway — and invite your friends to enter too!

Mary,
I’m not a good detective. The only thing I see is FLORIDA!
Read book titles–nothing. French soap-reminds me of New Orleans. Kohler old style faucets-maybe Georgia or one of the original colonies.
DBCoop, Marie Miller and all other sleuths, we need your assistance. Jump on this clue and give us an answer!!!
DB Coop is D B Cooper who long ago hijacked a plane in Seattle WA and made the pilot fly to Portland OR with the 727 back stair open and down. He bailed out over the forest somewhere in between and was never found. Although some of the money was. So must be somewhere on the WA or OR coast.
Mary,
Went through the photos a second, third and fourth time but the only thing that popped out was the name of the French soap – Mistral – which happens to be a restaurant in Boston.
Tried reading the book titles but the print is distorted when enlarged. Guess I’ll have to wait for the “Super Sleuths.”
Lovelykitty, where are you? You have great sleuthing skills.
I was able to tell by the first two photos in the links. The large seashell painting in the guest bedroom and the seashell frame and mirror in the master bathroom. So the home will have an ocean view. Love it!!! and it does not rule out New York.
Looking at the lovely picture over the bed, I discovered the 20th century conchologist is R. Tucker Abbott who founded a museum on Sanibel Island, Florida. But he did a lot of his work near Delaware and Washington, D.C. also but my guess is where there are conch shells is where we will find this new house being built. So with that information and not very many clues in the bathroom, going with that for right now.
Dear Mary:
I’m frustrated…the drop down menus on the left of the screen are covering half of the photo & clue…wassup?
Anyone else having that problem? I am most anxious to read the clues & see the photos!! Help!!
It is the shell in the master bathroom. The HGTV Dream Home 2010 will probably boast an ocean view.
Sea Shell is the clue! East Coast!
“The focal point of the room, a reproduction of the first print in Ottolander’s Conchology Studies series, serves as the first clue to a subtle shell theme and stands in for a more elaborate headboard.”
How exciting…the race is on. It’s almost like the Kentucky Derby all over again!
I’m going to go out on a prickly limb, so to speak, and focus AWAY from the sea shell, tropical beach theme of the 2009 Green Home, since I feel that’s more a reflection of the current home’s location in Port St Lucie, Florida.
So, my interest is peaked by the Guest Bedroom photo gallery vignette of the nightstand tables, especially the cactus-shaped papier-maché lamps (hence, going out on a Cactus limb) by Stray Dog Designs, which are complemented by an aloe-vera plant…and framed prints. Then there’s also the basketweave textured throw in citrus green. Might that indicate a Southwest Dream Home site for 2010?
Anyway, right or wrong, it’s great to be out of the Dream Home starting gate!
The Dendrobium Orchids in the master bathroom are native to Southeast Asia but can be grown in all manner of climates, from hot, wet lowlands to high-altitude, colder mountains… soo hmmm? Maybe the Palm Fronds in there would be easier to pin-point???
Lessie,
The Sandhill Cranes in the photos of the guest bedroom are found in Florida too!
Dear Mary: Even though I cannot see all of the clue, and photo, I’m going to make a comment….Yep, the RACE is on!!!
The lovely conch art in the bedroom has written on it: “Conchology!” I agree with
collegemom about the 20th century conchologist being R. Tucker Abbott who founded a museum founded a museum on Sanibel Island, Florida!! There are three museums in the United States that have readily accessible to the general public mollusk collections. One being the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History in Washington DC; one being the The American Museum of Natural History (AMNH) in Upper West Side, Manhattan, New York, and the third one being Bailey-Matthews Shell Museum in Sanibel Island, Florida. Could this be the big clue…especially since most rooms have shells?
Now, let’s see….Washington, DC, is a few hours drive away from several beaches. Destinations along the Chesapeake Bay and the Atlantic Ocean offer the region a wide selection of beach activities including everything from swimming to boating to crabbing to viewing wildlife. But, the photo is by the water…which does look like the ocean….Washington, DC, is probably out!!
The Upper West Side, Manhattan, New York, is bounded on the south by 59th street, Central Park to the east and the Hudson River to the west. I don’t think this is it!!
Now I look to Sanibel Island, Florida, which has the only museum in the world dedicated entirely to shells. Sanibel Island is an island located on the Gulf coast of Florida, just offshore of Fort Myers. Located within Lee County, Sanibel is a barrier island. The City of Sanibel incorporates the entire island…could this be the right guess? Well, it is my guess for now, but I would think it strange that HGTV would choose yet another site in Florida?
I do like your synopsis Coop…it goes along with some of the wonderful house plans we’ve been exploring & thought would be perfect in the desert!
I’ll be happy
when I can see the whole clue & photo!!!!
It has to be the sisal-style nylon rug that serve as a foundation for a “happy island-inspired” decor.
Looks like California Coast to me.
my first guess would be somewhere on one of the coasts. thats about all i can guess for right now.
I like Coop’s reasoning. The cabin living novel in the guest bedroom is also intriguing? Dendrobium Orchids throughout are native to tropical areas. The picture of Malibu could be to throw us all off. In conclusion I am still confused????
Hmmm….I see orchids, and conch shells, South Seas….looks to me like it may be in Hawaii someplace. Just a wild, crazy guess!!! Can’t wait to find out!!!
HOW ABOUT US VIRGIN ISLANDS? OR ONE OF HAWAIIN ISLANDS?
My name is John Fleming and I have a few questions about your Dream Home. All of my questioning is centered around how you guys choose the property to build the dream home. I am looking for some specifics, in that I know of a waterfront in North Carolina, that is in a nice community with a 50′ boat slip.
1. When do you guys choose the property for the Dream Home?
2. What type of land (acres, scenery, etc.) do you guys look for when looking for a property?
3. What is the process of buying the land?….do you guys purchase the property from the owner or is the part of the deal and the owner gets paid later.
4. What is the selection process (i.e., how do you submit a property for you guys to review for selection?)
If you guys could get back to me as soon as possible I would appreciate it, as I have the property owners to report to.
Thanks
NO,NO, THE OTHER PERSON WAS RIGHT IT WILL BE IN THE SOUTHWEST SOMEWHERE…PHOENIX,ARIZONA!!
Marie Miller, I see you’ve been working faster than ‘Mine that Bird’ at the Kentucky Derby to untangle the hidden meanings behind MARY’s devious hint…despite your very frustrating webpage problem, which couldn’t be at a worse time. I hope it’s resolved, and quickly.
Actually, I’m surprised that there aren’t at least 120 posts already (perhaps by day’s end), with hundreds of anxious Dream Home Bloggers racing to click in and submit their guesses to this fun and challenging new thread.
You’re right, Ed, the beachfront photo may be just to lead us into temptation and stray from the the path of true and righteous contemplation of cacti and Tequila coolers.
Sandi R: true that DB Cooper was never found, but Coop HAS BEEN discovered (lurking among the HGTV blogs.)
Now, back to the difficult task before us..
I WOULD SAY THAT IS GOING TO BE BUILD IN NORTH CAROLINA, BY THE BEACH.
Such intelligent guesses. I am feeling Florida too, not just because of all the shells, which obviously point to Sanibel Island but because of the cheese plant which is so common in Florida. My negative against Sanibel Island is that it is absolutely at sea level and therefore in permanent danger of drowning – so to speak. Would HGTV really give away a dream home in such a risky place? I’ll go for the east coast and say Ponte Vedra Beach.
if anyone was smart enough to notice, there is a little caption below the picture with a link to who took the picture. click on the link and go to page 7 and scroll down a little and there is the picture titled MALIBU so i could be wrong but my guess is that the dream home is going to be in MALIBU!!!!!
Malibu is not “east” of Sonoma. I think it is begining to look like the New Jersey shores.
.
I can’t think we would have another DH in Florida so soon!
By the way-DH08,in Islamorada was sold at 1.65 million, right before tax day.
http://www.keysnet.com/business/story/95354.html
DBCoop,
I totally agree with you on the cactus lamps, aloe vera plant & even the daisy print on the pillow don’t fit with the coral & conch decoration in the guest bedroom. Even though I love the coast it would be a change of scenery. I realize most of the dream homes have been on water of some kind. Maybe they will find a beautiful lake to cool down in the heat of the day?? It has been fun reading everyones ideas.
I think the next dream home will be in Arizona because aloe vera grows in the dessert and the lamps are cactus shaped.
But, I love the St. Lucie house and spent time this winter just south of there in Hobe Sound and actually did a little house-hunting. This house has an Arts & Crafts style with the “green” thrown in for us tree huggers. Please, please draw my name!!
I think if the build a dream home in the southwest my spanish style home idea would fit right in.. It would be great if it was built in an area with alot of history. Maybe Tucson?? Anybody know of some places in the southwest?
Looking at the galleries, too many clues… I hope it is not Florida, it feels like it has been over done, let’s get a new location…
The above picture is of MALIBU, CA!!! I hope, hope, hope that’s where the Dream Home is! Right on the beach with private access, amazing views, and great location of Los Angeles nearby. I would loveeeeeee it, if that was the location and I was able to win. Good Luck to everyone and have fun guessing.
florida treasure coast!!! thats the clue I’ll bet.
I am having the same problem with the drop down menus on the left covering up the wording!!
DBCoop’s idea of the cactus theme may be the clue…especially the aloe vera plant, used for centuries for it’s medicinal qualities..could the next location be Sedona Az. with it’s many spas, and healing centers?
One thing I notice in a lot of rooms are orchids, so I’m taking a huge stab at locating where Jack have been roaming…could it be possible that our adorable Jack has been visiting the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens? In researching the area, I read where David Horak has been growing orchids in Brooklyn for more than 25 years. He is the curator of Orchids and the Robert W. Wilson Aquatic House at Brooklyn Botanic Garden. He is the current president of the Greater New York Orchid Society!
While I don’t think Brooklyn is the site for the DH2010, I just think the Orchids are a big clue, so I’m thinking it might be somewhere closer to the ocean, but not far away from Brooklyn…how about Atlantic Beach? It is only 42 minutes away from Brooklyn! “The beach clubs there are known farther afield because they have been used as the setting for movies like “The Flamingo Kid” and “Goodfellas” and series like “The Sopranos” and still look much as they did 50 years ago.” Could some of the titles of those books laying around in the photos of the bedrooms have the above titles? Don’t forget the clue about the “Conchology!” You know, found in The American Museum of Natural History (AMNH) in Upper West Side, Manhattan, New York! Two big clues….
Well, like you said, “No suggestion is too outlandish.”
If not, Atlantic Beach, maybe one of the other beautiful beach villages!
P.S. Coop…I’m still having the same problem with the photo and left columns hiding the clue information!
I’m attempting to identify items that don’t fit anywhere else… shells are out. Ignore them.
Lot’s of water and aquatic themes.
The Rosetti Letter. Venice, Italy? Venice Beach? Water theme… but California seems to be out of the picture for a while.
Cactus is highlighted. (Texas is probably out due to Tyler home, looks kind of Seguaro-ish, that’s Arizona not NM)
Aloe Vera is highlighted. (Mexico or Harlingen, TX)
Zebra print throw… could it be an African Dream Home?
The botanticals are highlighted. Henry Bradbury? Could he have something to do with it? Controversy in his life drove him into despondency and he committed suicide by drinking acid. This HGTV clue may have been enough to cause Messr. Bradbury to do it again!!!
Paula, there certainly have been suggestions in the past from bloggers about scenic Sedona, or upscale Scottsdale, Arizona. In New Mexico, the Land of Enchantment, colonial Santa Fe and the Town of Taos (meaning the “place of red willows”) were also mentioned as great potential Dream Home locations. I don’t recall if either of those State’s two largest cities, Phoenix, Arizona or Albuquerque, New Mexico were mentioned in the blogs.
Lead by our Chief Blog Officer and Senior Editor, MARY, will we be heading for some Southwest sun-country sizzle, or to the sea-shelled sea shore of the Atlantic Coast? Who knows, maybe there could even be a gracious Southern Belle in our Dream Home future! (After all, ‘Mine that Bird’ certainly overcame the odds to cross the finish line with surprising speed and determination.) So place your bets (blogs, actually) and let’s get on with the (win, place, or) show! In this game, winner takes all….
By the way, Marie Miller, since I can only imagine your problem (and unclear if your problem is at the initial Dream Home or subsequent Green Home webpage), my “fix it” ideas are quite limited. Have you tried accessing the Dream Home Blog (or Green Home photos) from different “start” pages? Perhaps try to enter through the ‘Dream Home Central’ page (if you don’t already do so) since there you have a choice of using the “Blog” tab header, or clicking on the “Location, Location—Decipher the First Clue” window. I’ve used the alternate approach plan a few times in the past when I’ve encountered programming problems with on-line click-throughs. I’ve even been lucky enough to get past the problem by simply shutting down and rebooting the computer to resolve stubborn computer kinks, but generally less successful than the stealth approach. Hope you can get through your Dream Home drama soon.
This Dreamhome is in Port St. Lucie, Fla.
this shot is a picture in malibu, california…im a reall good detective!
Yes, that picture is Malibu…but I am sure no one is giving away land in very pricey Malibu!
If you thought Sonoma was exspensive
Other than shells and other sea type items I see Orchids. The guest bedroom has a Caribbean theme and the master bedroom color looks like a Caribbean blue. So I say some where it is warm enough for orchids and near the Caribbean.
roatan
Hey Marie,
I have the same issue with the links covering part of the blog. Hopefully, it’ll be corrected before the next clue is revealed!
My hunch is Sedona, AZ for DH 2010. A beach setting would be nice, too, but I think HGTV would like a change of pace to a desert-style home this time.
This is my favorite part! I love to play detective.
I think it all still ties back to HGTV bring the Dream Home to Grand Central in NYC this past January. It was to create some sort of interest!
Thank you for the advice Coop….I will try that…right now as a matter of fact…cross your fingers that it works…I have a problem looking at the world with half of it missing?!! Somewhat like the glass half full?
Coop:
It did not work…I’ve tried accessing the “Clue” page several different ways & each time it comes up with the side catagories spread across half the screen..this is too weird!! I’m reading the clues with half the words missing, so my guesses are probably half on target?? I’m not sure I understand why HGTV is showing us a picture of Malibu…I can see most of the photo..What am I missing on the left side of the photo..I can only guess they are comparing it with the next site for the DH2010..the East Coast?
Okay Coop, this is even more weird….it’s like writing and/or reading in Chinese…by right clicking on the drop down menus & choosing “encoding” and then choosing “right to left,” I’m able to see everything…only it’s backwards!! How fun is this? I don’t think I’ve really missed the jest of any of the clues, except where it said , “This home accessory can be found in one of two photo galleries. Of course, I am not going to tell you what it is or in which gallery you will find it.!” So, I know it is limited to only one set of photos? So, I will stick to my guess that the orchids play a big role in the whereabouts of our next DH2010! This is too “off the wall” typing and seeing it marque from right to left! Have a great day to all!!
This is so exciting, and SO MUCH FUN, MARY!!! Looking at the picture above, it’s Not Florida— there’s No mountains in Florida. My First Gut is either N.Y. or New England. Or maybe, could that be North Carolina ?( I don’t think so though, because of the color of the sand ) I’ll look at the galleries later, and check back in later!!!!
Diana B.
Diana: I have to agree with you..I’m thinking somewhere connected with New York, or at least somewhere part of New England…maybe Boston? But, I’m sticking with New York because of the orchids???
fanny: i have to agree. It maybe in rhode island or providence
MARIE MILLER= This is SO MUCH FUN, ISN’T IT??? A lot more suspensfun than watching “American Idol”— but I was out on my patio, and thinkin’, would there be Open Decks (in a condo or villa) in N.Y or New England? Wouldn’t it be hard to clean up the snow and ice build-up?? I don’t know– just wondering.
I think the Color of the Sand is Maybe a clue. OK, NORTH CAROLINA, VIRGINIA, and TENNESSEE Bloggers– Where are you? What’s the color of the sand on your beaches and lakes???? Right now, I’m Stumped!
I’ll look at the photo gallery later— I think we should look in the Direction of an “Eco Friendly Decor” as the CLUE—
Diana B.
You’ve got me, Marie. During all of your online work with languages, were you reseaching Chinese at any point? It does sound like an encoding problem, but I’m afraid I don’t have any more viable suggestions. And you’re not missing anything on the left side of the photo, other than the ocean and Malibu hills in the background. Unless Barbra Streisand is selling her home there (not that I’ve heard), Malibu’s not the clue.
My thought on the clue that Mary is directing us to is that we should be looking at one particular photo (vignette) within either of those two galleries, and then at “a piece of eco-friendly decor” and a “home accessory.”
I’ve already put myself out on a limb (ouch!) with my wild guess, now we’ll just have to wait for more hints to ’sea’ where the next Dream Home may be.
Speaking of, sometimes you can’t see the Southwest for the seas…so put that Conch shell up to your ear and listen for the soft whisper to appear—but don’t tell anybody–it’ll be our little secret.
I am going to have to go with my gut on this one. Borrowing from the aloe vera plant clue I think its going to be somewhere in or near a desert. Say Arizona????
Is it possible the reclaimed Cypress wood used to make the bed is a clue? Marie Miller, or DBcoop any ideas? Maybe Tennesse, Louisiana, or Florida?
I don’t think that they would give a clue that is too abstact so I am going with the sea shells! Plus, everyone wants an ocean view. I bet it is east coast ocean (because of the whole east of sonoma comment) although I wish that it was west coast!
A quick thought Marie—assuming? that you bring up the Dream Home blog from a bookmarked/favorite places link, have you tried accessing the HGTV website through Google, or by entering the URL directly? (Perhaps you already do so.) Anyway, IF that works for you, delete any previously saved bookmark. Again, just a guess on my part.
And for my reasoning on MARY’s Dream Home 2010 location “clue”, I just stuck to the ABC’s of super sleuthing—Aloevera, Basketweave, and Cactus.
I just can’t wait. The picture posted view from the balcony, grass, palms, water, sky, weather all clear. I love that picture. I hope my future home will have location like that. Greenery needed. Please make new location surrounded with grass, palm trees and water and void empty views with out it.
Perfect location shown on picture front.
I know it can’t be Hawaii, but I have to say that or North Carolina.
blue glass mosaic tile to match the Florida Treasure Coast!!!!! Beautiful.
The nautilus shell was apparent in both the bedroom and bathroom pictures. The USS Nautilus, a submarine is housed in Groton, Conn. So, if I had to guess I’d say Groton, Conn will be the site.
All quiet on the Western Front in Oregon. Does that mean the news is good, Marie? The “Eastern” front seems to be another matter, as guesses are all over the map. And I’m still wondering, east of Sonoma are the East Mountains of New Mexico..any chance?
Will MARY’s hint be the ‘Guiding Light’ that shines brightly enough to get ‘The Young and The Restless’ among us through the next several exciting ‘Days of Our Lives’? Or, will the clock tick ever so slowly ‘As the World Turns’ while we wait for another hint to be dropped for the still clueless here in Dreamland.
And if I get caught out on that cactus limb and hung out to dry with a bad guess, I’ll rest comfortably knowing that I’m still able to visit with ‘All My Children’ and blogging buddies online—from my bed at ‘General Hospital’.
Just remember, as they always say, if you’ve only ‘One Life to Live’, live it as a blogger…(with HGTV)
Not to fear Coop, I am hanging out on that limb with you too. The cacti vases & the desert succulent along with the basket weave point West in my book too. Too bad there was’nt a Navajo blanket or Hopi baskets in the picture too.
Mary definitely needs to get off the stick & let all us anxious bloggers in on the secret. I am not ready for blood pressure medication yet. That picture from the 2008 Dream Home Balcony has too many people chomping at the bit for an ocean view. The Malibu picture isn’t helping matters any either. Much as I enjoy blogging with everyone I want to know and I want to know now! Where is the next Dream Home Location?????
Oops getting too excited! Now I am having senior moments too. I meant to say cacti lamps not vases.
I noticed that there is a ceiling fan in the master bedroom. Is that the clue? Maybe the next location is going to be someplace tropical, like Hawaii.
My next observation was that the master bed and the guest bed each had a warm, cozy throw blanket. Could the next location be on the upper east coast where it tends to get chilly? I like Maine.
Finally, I noticed that there was a cactus accessory in the master bed. I think that this could be a clue that the next Dream Home is going to be in the southwest. I like New Mexico, Arizona, or southern California.
Coop: Be careful while you’re out on that limb…especially if that limb has anything to do with cacti…I got a whole foot full of cacti one time and it took me weeks to get all the prickles out…talk about ouch!!!
I, too, love listening the soft music played when you hold a conch shell to your ear! And, maybe it has something to do from childhood..it just puts a smile on my face ’cause I guess it is the smallest things in life that bring the most joys!!
I think you might enjoy this poem, “Conch”:
“Still drowsy in summer rest,
Leaves in the garden
Stir without motin,
Silently rustle,
Roused by deep waters
Far out to sea.
Windswept and wild,
This garden the sea keeps.
Inept tenders have marked out deep paths
Lined out with conch shells
Displaced and restless,
Hollow of life, filled with deception.
The leaves have been resting,
Silenced by conch songs.
Now, far to the east, warnings are stirring,
Spawning reality, drowning illusion.
Lost time is coming.
The conch shells wait,
Lulling and soothing.”
You see my heart belongs close to the sea, and that is why I’m hoping the clues to the next Dream Home takes us by the sea…somewhere in a small sea village, I thinking a New England state!!
Coop and Ed: I just got a real mental image of the two of you out on a limb…oh, my…such thoughts, such humor!! I certainly do see why you are thinking Arizona or New Mexico, or a more arid area, because of the Cactus Lamps, the Aloe Vera, etc.! If those equate to a piece of eco-friendly decor, you just might be right! ‘Cause, even though I am looking towards Shells & Orchids as my clues, I don’t see them exactly as eco-friendly?
By the way Coop, your dialog with all the Soaps was brilliant…I loved it & I must tell you…I am a “Days” fan from way back!! No other Soaps have wiggled into my life, but that one did…they are like family! I’ve grown up with Hope..amazing, huh!!
Has to be Florida…Sandhill cranes (black and white photos in a room awash in color…(a clue?!?)) are abundant in Central Florida. Floridas Treasure coast is the Palm Beach area. The shells make me think Sanibel Island. I am leaning toward the gulf coast. Then there’s Cape Coral… how obvious would that be? You want a guess? I’ll go with my gut…Central Florida, gulf side…I’ll say Cape Coral. Did I win? I’ve never been to Florida…Can I move in now????
The bed is reclaimed cypress wood. There are cypress trees, cacti, and beaches in Texas…so, my guess is Texas.
I’m going with North Central Florida where the Sandhill Crane may be seen nearly year round in yards. The photo in the guest bedroom of the Sandhill Crane says it was taken in the homes back yard.
I just finished studying all the photos again in the bedroom & came up with a new stab in the dark…”The guestroom bed, fashioned from reclaimed Cypress Wood….” is most definitely “a piece of eco-friendly decor” (which is what Mary says we need to find)!!
So, I did a little research and found “Rheingold Vat Reclaimed Wood Furniture!” Clarner Woodworks has obtained a limited supply of Rheingold Vat Wood, a collection of reclaimed old growth cypress wood and redwood that was once fermentation vats at the Rheingold Brewery in BROOKLYN, NY. This tight-grained wood dates to the late 1800’s and is an extremely durable and attractive wood. It is also historically important and environmentally friendly. Considering these attributes and its limited supply, Rheingold Vat Wood makes a unique and highly desirable choice for furniture-making, environmentally friendly gifts and collectible home decor…Featured in the Winter 2005 edition of BKLYN Magazine, this Rheingold Vat Reclaimed Wood was recognized for its historical significance!
Could this point to Brooklyn, to New York, to my little sea village in New York??????
Move over Coop & Ed, there’s a third person on your limb!!!!
My eye went to the driftwood lamp in the master bedroom. Hmm,, could this mean a dream house on a Driftwood filled beach in say Georgia or Oregon?
You’re probably better off, Marie, being out on a Cypress limb, and least for the time being. I’d also picked up on the reclaimed Cypress Wood bed, but pinpointing one locale based on “Where Could It Be?”…I mean, Cypress trees could mean anything from the Pacific coastline to the Atlantic seaboard, on down into Florida. As a matter of fact, speaking of Cypress, the following website makes a great “special events” location (in the Orlando, Florida area) though not a candidate for the 2010 Dream Home.
http://www.cypressgrovepark.com/
Cypress or cactus…can you give us a sign, MARY?
The decore of both rooms remind me of Key West, Florida, with all the blue it makes dream water all around me, and where else you can see the sun rise and set in the ocean without driving far from home? It must be Florida again.
Another guess: the Sandhill Crane photo. According to Wikipedia, the southern subspecis reside in the Gulf Coast area, Florida, Georgia and Cuba. However their northern cousins like southwestern US and Mexico.
Personally, I think the southern birds have the right instinct but their northern cousins – migratinging from Canada and Alaska – may have different nesting instincts.
I noticed the floor in the guest bedroom is Shaw “Wild Frontier”. Could this floor tie in with a western location?
Thank you, I enjoyed your Conch poem, Marie. “The conch shells wait, Lulling and soothing.” Perhaps they do indeed hold the key to life’s mysteries, which only the sands of time will impart. Either that, or our Senior Editor MARY will throw us a lifeline to haul us out of the drink (for the beachfront theorists) or toss us a canteen of water to quench our thirst (for the Southwestern conspiracy gurus) —in the form of another hint, of course.
Ed, good call on Shaw’s “Wild Frontier” flooring. Maybe a reference to Davy Crockett, “King of the Wild Frontier” who was born in Tennessee, and died at the Battle of the Alamo in San Antonio, Texas. Does that mean the Dream Home will be close to the River Walk? (Paseo del Rio)
I keep reminding myself, though, that MARY said “a piece of eco-friendly decor” and a “home accessory’ appearing in one of the photo gallery vignettes. The “Wild Frontier” flooring is throughout the house rather than just the Guest Bedroom, for example.
On the other hand, one guess is just as good as another, so every one counts, and each one is worthy of consideration. So are we all still confused now?
In the bathroom, there is a beautiful dendrodium orchid…. these are famous for growing in Juno Beach, Florida…. with is in Palm County…. Could this be? I could easily see my children and I living there!
I’m going to go with the cactus lamps…I’ve been hoping for a souhwestern home for forever(a ranch please?) so perhaps I’m just biased. But thats my guess.
I’m going with the warm southwest. Wouldn’t I love an adobe style house in the warmth of the Santa Fe area. I know I’d have company.
Good morning! I recently posted a comment on the Dream Home 2010 Home Style blog that was “awaiting moderation” for quite a few days. I wanted to share it with you again. This was posted by me on May 1st:
Okay…so I guess I have been blog stalking you guys for a long time…ahhh…true confessions will set you free!!
I really feel as though I know many of you since I have my morning cup of tea with you every day! I sit in my kitchen with my computer and each and every one of you are with me;)) We have wonderful chats until I need to go take a shower and get to work;(
I entered a video to become the next SuperFan…although I can’t imagine anyone ever filling the shoes of SuperFan Gail…even though she seems to be barefoot often these days. She is terrific and so down to earth…love her!
Well, DBCoop, or may I call you Coop…so glad you are feeling better! You seemed so mysterious to me at first and you still are a little. I really like that about you. I find your comments very entertaining and enlightening, to say the least! Thank you for the good conversations!
Marie…I am always so curious as to how you are so insightful…so creative with your writing…you have a lot of wisdom and you are so generous passing that along to us readers out here in BlogLand!
Ingrid and BoBo…you live in such a wonderful place! When HGTV stumbled across Sonoma, you were the icing on the cake! I would love, love to be your neighbor and see you walking BoBo through my neighborhood everyday. I can imagine chatting with you on my front porch every day and, of course, our dogs playing in my front yard together…wish you lived here in Pennsylvania!
Anyway, I just wanted to say hello and let you know that I really enjoy the warmth I feel from this blogging family!
Now, in closing, would you guys like honey or cream with your tea this morning? Maybe I’ll whip up some Pain Perdu as a treat for us!
Living the Dream!
Lynn
In the meantime, after reading all of your comments here, I am so excited with your ideas that I did a little investigating myself. Here are my thoughts…and, yes, I am going out on a BIG limb. This is one idea I came up with…After reviewing the Guest Bedroom information, this struck me funny: “The focal point of the room, a reproduction of the first print in Ottolander’s Conchology Studies series, serves as the first clue to a subtle shell theme and stands in for a more elaborate headboard.”…serves as the first clue?…hmmm. Maybe they ARE trying to tell us this is the first clue. According to teh website, these prints can be purchased at Mecox Gardens…hmmm…”Mecox Gardens can presently be found at eight locations: Southampton, East Hampton, Manhattan, Palm Beach, Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas and Houston.” I know we can eliminate Los Angeles so that leaves me with seven guesses.
How fun is this? Can’t wait for the next clue to see if any of these seven places have some sort of link;))

” A piece of eco-friendly decor will lead you in the right direction. This home accessory can be found in one of two photo galleries.”
The eco-friendly deco clue is the graphic reproduction of the first print in Ottolander’s Conchology Studies series.
Lynn Coggin: I have to admit my biggest inspiration on this site is COOP!! Reading his witty comments just fill me with revolutionary ideas!! And, bantering with all the bloggers seem to cheer me on!! I love HGTV & love participating!!!
Oh, yes I will take like honey with my tea this morning? And, you have now become my newest best friend with whipping up Pain Perdu as a treat! I love French Toast!! Wow! Are you always so ambitious in the morning?
Coop: I very much enjoyed the Estate House at Cypress Grove where “contemporary elegance meets the charm of the old South!” You know how I feel about the south, so if HGTV wants to build yet another home in Florida…it would be okay by me!! A lot of the clues have directed us to Florida, so I am totally confused! Your summations make total sense about the cactus lamps, etc. There are so many elements in the bedrooms that are eco-friendly, it is hard to pin point just one Mary wants us to pick up on…I guess that is what happens with clues! I get totally carried away with my thoughts…why else would I find myself in a little village outside of Brooklyn, New York? Like Brighton Beach, Coney Island, Gerritsen Beach, Gravesend, Homecrest, Madison, Manhattan Beach, Plum Beach, Seagate, Sheepshead Bay, or Atlantic Beach?
Yes, Atlantic Beach!!!
I always preferred honey & cream with my tea. Pain perdu avec cinnamon s’il vous plait. Bon chance on your video!
I hope that the location is not crowded like malibue!!! I think that the TYLER TEXAS dream home was the perfect spot! do another like that please!!!
I thought it was the East Coast some where … can’t wait to hear it exactly is … good day to all of you
The place is Fla. and I can not believe any one in this area will win
While I would like the California coast… as I already live across the street from the beach in SoCa… I think it’s Florida… that’s my guess because of the Dendrobium Orchid… but what do I know…
Make it a GREAT day!
Seashells … that is a clue so it is an ocean view home … by the ocean. etc.
MARIE MILLER= OK, yea, I’m totally Stumped too. I have to “catch up” on all of the blogs— will later or tomorrow. Yes— I’ve looked at the pics— and it is somehow leading me to either Florida or Somewhere in the South (even though the beach pic above doesn’t look like it)!!!! and YES! YES! YES!!!! Come on down to the “Sunshine State” Again!!! I’ll have to blog back down to DB COOP’s ideas ( I think that he’s pretty good at this).
Diana B.
to me that lkooks like the california coast line … I say they might be going to nor cal again Morro Bay, Carmel, Santa Cruz, or could be Oregon but not enough pine
OK— this is what I came up with. I think that there is ONE Picture that Maybe “HOLDS” the clue. It is under ” GUEST BEDROOM Gallery”, and it is the SECOND Picture. The Description states, ” The focal point of the room, a reproduction of the first print in Ottolander’s CONCHOLOGY Studies series, serves as the FIRST CLUE to a subtle shell theme and stands in for a more elaborate headboard”
Diana B.
It looks beautiful already, I want it!
I’m guess Captiva/Sanibel, Forida.
hrmm could it be the place I suggested Coral Gables … I am now downplaying the ocean view idea …. I see coral and sea shells everywhere
OK— I did some “Googling”, but I’m still Stumped and Miffed anyways— hopefully other Bloggers can Find More information???
This is what I found:
1. CONCH or “CONCHOLOGY” is found in southern waters and is particularly popular with FLORIDIANS!!!!!!
2. All ALOE VERA PLANTS are semitropical succulent plants, and may only be grown outdoors in areas where there is no chance of freezing temperatures.
3. I did see a “reference” that Aloe Plants are in the “same family” as Cacti—- but I didn’t get much information or confirmation on this.
4. I think that the ” Orchids in the Clam Shell” ( in Another Picture ) can be another clue. I mostly read that, “Dendrobiums prefer regular warm/hot temperatures of about 70-90 day and 65-75 night”– Dendrobium Orchids are from Thailand, India, and the Congo River in Africa. This is a Tough Connection or Clue. But ONE common denominator is that they have to be grown in WARM climates.
5. The American Orchid Society is located in Delray Beach, Florida— there are others too, though, in ( San Francisco and South Carolina!!)—- MARIE MILLER— the “White Orchids are from New York State”
HELP!!! WE NEED HELP !!!!
Diana B.
I think the decor screams coastal without a doubt, but not Florida. If the opening picture of the coast line shows mountains…there are no mountains on Floridas coast..east or west..I think maybe California coast or Texas coast..sandhill cranes are probably off the shores of Texas on the Gulf..the catus plants and the lamps leads me towards California..southwestern flare..that’s my guess!
Hawaii would be nice! I can hardly wait to see what the location is for DH 2010. This is the fun part – aside from guessing the building and design style.
Go to the bottom of the picture aqnd click on rawkblog4. It will have another website pop up. Scroll to the bottom and click on the button for page 7. Scroll down and you will see the picture labeled Malibu. I’m guessing it’s in Malibu?
Where’s Coop today? I hope he’s nowhere near the smoke & fire in SoCal! I figured he was due for another epithany.
The house is going to be in Amelia Island.
East Coast.
Finaly???
Massachusetts and Delaware have the beetle as State insects. Master Bedroom glass beetle and sea shell picture in Guest Bedroom.
Would be nice if Massachusetts/Cape Cod.
I live in Massachusetts wold be nice to win
There is a large framed photo of a seashell in the guest bedroom. Is this a clue that the next Dream Home is going to be a beachfront property? If so, I hope that the location will be in the northern part of the east coast, southern California, or Hawaii.
Hawaii
Sorry I meant epiphany. My fingers wrote something else. They need an edit function on this blog. Or else I need to start proof reading before I hit the post button.
It’s got to be the Northeast Coastline! Can’t wait to find out where?
Definetly is close to the water…the orchids only grow on warm and humid weather…maybe an island?
Greetings Fellow Dreamers! I usually don’t blog – I’m a closet blog reader. Coop & Marie – set your investigative skills to this thought – Mackinac Island! When I google some of the more obscure clues I get hits where Mackinac is concerned – Mountain, Bike, Oat, teepee, even Ivory is part of that place. Check it out!
Dear Coop: Where are you? We need your expert analogies here! What are you thinking…besides New Mexico? Are you convinced it will be NM or Arizona? By the way, I did find a great recipe for Lobster Raviolis from a wonderful restaurant in the New England area?
On the other hand, one of the clues is Ivory…so, in my mighty sluething…can you believe I found a site for “Ivory” homes? And, guess where they build? Give up? It is Salt Lake City, Utah!! They are the number one builders in Utah..oh my…I am so confused!! I also found a great Italian Restaurant that specializes in Raviolis in Logan which is located in northern Utah, north of Ogden & only about an hour away from Salt Lake City? What, you say explain the Teepee clue…okay…are you ready for this one? I have found a place called Smiley Creek Lodge, located in Salt Lake City! According to one manager (he manages the the Lodge in Idaho), it’s not unusual to see the rich and powerful drive up to Smiley Creek Lodge in a luxury sedan and spend the night in a teepee. Of course these teepees aren’t exactly roughing it with wooden furniture, floors and comfy electric blankets, luxuries unknown to authentic cowboys and Indians. Clue: Mountain…well, take a look at the photos of Salt Lake…beautiful mountain backdrop…maybe ivory may account for the snow in the winter (or maybe just salt..it’s white)..surrounded by the Great Salt Lake to the northwest and the steep Wasatch and Oquirrh mountain ranges on the eastern and western borders, respectively. The Great Salt Lake is fed by three major rivers and several minor streams. Talk about Water!!
Am I getting too far from realty? I’ve bounced from Florida, to New York, to New England…now back to Utah!! The clues are too loose…we need more definitive clues…pleeeeeeeeeease???
MARY– I was leading towards Texas at first too, because of their Beaches. (and the rumor is that it is going to be in the SouthWest)? That would be a great pic, Texas is Great— Love Dallas!!! But what threw me, was ” Conchology”. I do believe that I read somewhere that Conch Shells are in California, too ( I think– could be wrong about that– was googling too fast, LOL ).
MEG= Hmmm, Very Interesting!!! I’m going to check it out!!!!
Bloggers— do some Googling!!!! What I came up with, was that:
1. Aloe Vera plants can almost grow anywhere in the Warm Climate— it does “signify” SouthWest, I agree— but really couldn’t find much definite info. on it
2. Endodrium Orchids can grow almost anywhere in Warm Climates too
3. I think that the Conch Shell is more of a “narrowing down” clue— leading me to Florida ( yeahhhh !!!!! )– and there are a few “conch shells” in different pictures too!
But another clue , I think, was the “Sea Star” in Another Picture, that stood out with me. I read, “Starfish is known to occur throughout the Indo-Pacific region and the Gulf of California. However, it is not found on coral reefs in the Atlantic Ocean.
I’d like to know more about the beaches in Texas— it could maybe lead us in a different direction.
Diana B.
MARIE MILLER= Can you PLEASE, PLEASE Post that “Lobster Ravioli” recipe???? I was talking to my Dad, that I’d like to make it. I think that when you order it in a restaurant, you may be getting the “fake” lobster— you’d Never know either way, so I’d Love to have the Recipe!!!!
I’ve wondered, how long do you cook the lobster before stuffing into the ravioli shells???
Thanks—-
Diana B.
I feel it will be on the coast in washington state because of the tall coastal walls
OK, I think that I may have found “Another” clue– I just looked at the ” Guest Bedroom Gallery” Again— and looked at the FIRST picture. It is pretty much the Same as the Second Picture (which mentions a FIRST CLUE).
Anyways, the First picture describes a “Sisal Nylon Rug”. I just Googled it, and one Site is from Riverside, California, and another site is called, “Venice Beach Sisal Nylon Rug”— You know about the Popular Venice Beach in California???Remember “BayWatch”? I wonder if this means anything???
I know, I’m “into” googling, but I’m gonna try to get more info. and locations and whereabouts of the “conch shell”.
Diana B.
I can’t Think for Sure yet— but right now, I’m CALIFORNIA DREAMIN’—- how about one of those hot-dogs at PINK’s too????
Diana B.
Bathroom has orchids…can that be Hawaii???
It will be in Hawaii! The Aloe Plant is the only eco-friendly home accessory that I can see in either of the two pictures and it can be grown in Hawaii. It can also be grown in Florida or California but I don’t think they will repeat either of those two states anytime soon. I do not believe they have ever done one in Hawaii.
The home is in Florida. Trust me….he said.
beach front property!!!!
HOLA HGTV
Since “no suggestion is too outlandish”, my vote goes for Queensland, Australia. The hardy orchids would seem to be a very eco-friendly decor item. Given the moisture of the bathroom, they would require very little maintenance. Not to mention, the Dendrobium orchid is considered the floral emblem of Queensland. G’Day Mate….and I hope to see a Dream Home Down Under!!
Any chance it is Shell Beach, CA?
I believe the site is In the french named town of Absecon, NJ
which has a street name Aloe like the Aloe plant, This town is by the ocean and they have conch shells.
I believe that we are talking about Beaumont, Texas
If you think it is Florida you have never been there. There are no mountains in Florida.. Florida is FLAT.
In the past it has helped to carefully analyze the wording of the clues, not just the pictures. I think there is something to the last sentence….. “no suggestion is too OUTLANDISH” So, what does outland mean, is there an area where an island is called outland locally or something like that?
http://www.heritagelinkbrands.com/assets/client/File/HLB113_RecipeCard_LobsterRavioli.pdf
I believe it will be on one of the Islands. St. Thomas or the Bahamas. Hope I am the winner. I love the Caribbean and would like to retire there. Enjoy your show !
Considering all the pictures of sea shells, the words, ” island living” used in all the descriptions of the rooms… I would guess St. Thomas or the Bahamas. I would “die” to live in either locations.. Love the Caribbean. Please choose me
Cathy Lemar,
Thanks for the Lobster Ravioli recipe. Will try it.
CATHY LEMAR= THANK YOU!!!! I printed it out already. And I was just talking to my Dad about it again this morning. He mentioned an ad for a local restaurant stating ” macaroni with spinach” for $18.00—- that’s Really inflated. I’d rather have a Steak, myself.
I will make this at home—- at least I know for sure that it’s “real lobster”
THANKS AGAIN!!!!!
Diana B.
Or you could always buy it already made:
http://www.jameshooklobster.com/fresh-seafood/lobster-ravioli.html
Let me know how your ravioli comes out if you decide to make it….
CATHY LEMAR= THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! YOU ARE AWESOME!!!! A business in Boston? Yup, this is the “Real” thing— I am so GLAD that you Posted this Link!!!! I never thought about finding a business where you could order them from—It will sure be a Lot Better and a Better Quality than buying ( the brands in a bag ) at Publix, too — this is the Real McCoy!!!!
I will let you know. I will surprise my Dad for Father’s Day. I will order these, and then also make a Peanut Butter and Banana Creme pie for dessert, too.
Check the blogs after Father’s Day—- THANKS AGAIN!!!!
Diana B.
CATHY LEMAR= So check the blogs after Father’s Day, OK??? I’ll let you know.
This reminds me of Once getting ravioli’s boxed in Brooklyn— they were delicately and perfectly packaged and were light as a feather. Unfortunately, never saw them again in the store here in Florida. Or, it reminds me when I ordered ( via mail )stone crabs from Joes Stone Crab restaurant in Miami– another treat. I have a feeling this Link and business, James Hook, is on the Same Level.
THANKS AGAIN
Diana B.
Hi. So this is where everyone is hiding! I’ve been busy and didn’t know this was even here.
Look at the shore…not the white beaches of Florida. I think the image has been reversed to have us think West coast. I think it is the northern east coast. Earlier, I had guessed N Kingstown. There is a new development being built in the area. The shoreline with darker sand and the rock reminds me of this area.
Then, when I went back to look at the shadows on the rock….. Gosh, I’m totally confused. It does remind me of the Pacific Northwest. How could this be EAST of Sonoma?
How many clues do we get each week? My mind is so busy, it won’t be of any help until AFTER May 31st.
I’m going with the cactus and guessing Arizona. In fact, I’ll go a step further and be more exact with Sedona.
South Beach Oceanfront
South Beach Oceanfront would be my guess
If you click & drag your mouse you’ll hilite the hidden text in question. Then press to copy, and to paste in any text editor, and voila~ the mystery words will be found….
QUOTE
“Lessie,
The Sandhill Cranes in the photos of the guest bedroom are found in Florida too! ”
On vacation I have seen many Sandhill Cranes! Even in Wisconsin! Lot of good water up there!
I don’t vote for a desert Dream Home because not enough cool water around to swim and fish in!
Florida is always a great choice for a home give away! I do pretty good with real crime detective work but as far as home destinations..I really haven’t been to far from where I was born & raised..NC! I would love any destination! LOL. Keep up the awesome work with building these wonderful homes & making dreams come true for wonderful people to win! Thanks…
I hope that you will tell us the location soon. Or atleast give us another clue. I am getting anxious to find out where the Dream Home Team will be building next!
Based on this clue I think the dream home will be in Kohler, Wisconsin. I respectfully request that I be allowed to change my mind after additional clues are given.
Checking with the photo gallery in both bathrooms I’ve come up with Hawaii. Blue in both rooms along with, shells, bamboo decor, picture of islands over toilet in 2nd bath and orchids. The perfect place for a dream home.
I think that after reviewing the photos of the guest bedroom and the master bath that it may be in California. Everyone was pointing out the soap (Mistral) and that was first sold in San Francisco and now has a shop in LA. Though it’s not necessarily eco-friendly 2 out of the 4 authors of the books you can actually read the title and authors of live in San francisco. But let’s see where the next clue takes us.
Key West is know as the Conch Republic. Could the Conchology poster in the guest bedroom be hinting to another dream home in the Florida Keys?
Im thinking Atlantic but north. As long as its ocean front… my Ultimate Dream Home
what ever happened to the Cheryl Smith, when do you guys plan to give her the house, and if she did receive the house, when is it going to be televised, or shown on TV?
Massachusetts or Maine
its florida, and its a waterway you can see it from proch and from roof but looks like canal, conch shell would be beach
and there were no mountains near the house
I dont care if its in timbuktu , I would love to win it, I am from florida and it sure would be nice to go home again and live there!!!
I have to agree with DB Coop, the next dream home is going to be in the Southwest I’m going with somewhere in New Mexico, maybe Taos because of its artsy reputation. (main clue is the catcus lamp an then the flowery pillow on the bed,the red and green color schemes, and the aloe vera plant)
Diane B (not to be confused with Diana B)
The paper mache lamp shaped like a cactus and flanked by the aloe plants leads me to believe something desert-y like Arizona or New Mexico… hmmm.
I’m thinking, ocean-view, yes…where, not sure…Myrtle Beach, South Carolina? Maybe…do not over analyze photos too much.
The Mississippi Sandhill Crane has become the first endangered bird to have a young hatched where an egg was fertilized by a sperm that was previously thawed out from a cryogenic state. This occurred at the Audubon Institute as part of this subspecies’ Recovery Plan. I believe the site may be New Orleans, where the Audobon institute is located or near Bosque del Apache wetlands reserve in NM which would fit with the cactus lamps and Aloe Vera plant
For those guessing Australia or the Caribbean islands….. the dream home will be in the continental United States, that means only the states that are within the landmass of the North American Continent, excluding Alaska. And that does not include Canada or Mexico, these are not states within the United States, they are countries. Hawaii is an island, not connected to the land mass of the North American continent, so will not be included either unless they drastically change the rules they’ve been operating under for the last…. however many years? 12 years? The rules of the dream homes always only include the continental, contiguous United States.
I think this picyure is definitely not of florida. I have been there tons of tie and this looks like ausle Hault, maine
Definitely somewhere in the Carribean…why not? The beautiful blue mosaics, conch and seashell finishes all call out the beauty of this wonderful place!
Now I feel like one of the gang as my last comment is awaiting moderation. My guess for the next dream home is that it is going to be somewhere in New Mexico.(Even though I love the thought of a Southern Calif location, maybe around Escondido.)
Judging by the element colors in the master bathroom and the property link of the picture above
It will definately be a sea-side property in Malibu Beach, California.
When i ready about the eco friendly cypress wood I think about Cypress trees … someone said Amelia Island, state of Florida. Florida state shell is the conch.
Amelia Island, whomever said that might be on to something. The pictures throws everyone off because of the mountains. But aren’t those tress cypress trees.
Or I go immediately back to my original theory, of west coast northern california 101 coatsline.
MORE CLUES MARY!!!
)))
that is west coastline other wise the coastline if it was east coast would be in the right not the left.
I think that the next Dream Home will be located somewhere on/near the beach. Wherever it is… I know that it will be great! You and your crew always do a fantastic job! Keep up the outstanding work!
Somewhere in New England, rocky coastline.
Would the Outer Banks, North Carolina be too “outlandish” of a guess? They have cypress wood and it’s on the beautiful east coast Atlantic Ocean. I wonder….
Did you see the bright red bed made of cypress? What about an area with cypress wetlands? Perhaps in NW TN – Big Cypress Tree State Park is located there.
Nags Head, North Carolina ther is they have a conch shell bed and breakfast. Beautiful ocean veiws. check out there website.
hmmmm… the soap in the bathroom could be a very good clue as to a location in Florida. After the museum on Sanibel Island continue “up” the main drag. Cross to Captiva and you will end up at a wonderful location for a luxury, dream home – South Seas Plantation.
I think Maine or Massachusetts if it is coastal, or could Be North Carolina.
The soap…”South Seas” is in Captiva Island, Florida.
Shells, shells and more shells. Mmmm…. Xel-Ha, Mexico?
CALIFORNIA!!!!

The one thing that stood out to me was the table made of reclaimed cypress…a nice eco-friendly piece of furniture. It was made by a carpenter named David Brown. Cypress and David Brown both hail from California. There is a second table in the room also made by David Brown.
I think the home is going to be in Berkley California (or somewhere similar…San Fran?)
YNOTME= It’s good that you Clarified That. I still think that you are on to something, when you said, ” I think there is something to the last sentence….. “no suggestion is too OUTLANDISH” So, what does outland mean,”. And I really think that the Color of the Sand or Clay and those Mountains are pointing to something, too.
STEPHANIE= what do you mean about the coastline being to the Left or the the Right? I don’t understand????
As a Detective may say, ” My Leads are Starting to Get Cold”—- but I’m still working on this. I’m starting to think though, that it is Not Florida, and Not California either—- it’s somewhere else.
Check in Later
Diana B.
Duh it’s FLORIDA if you read the discription under the photo you would see it says clearly a FLORIDA treasure chest.
READ THE CAPTIONS UNDER THE PICTURE THE ANSWER IS RIGHT THERE!!
I too, thought that “Conch Shells” were only in Florida. I’m finding out that they are in other States, too. I think that “Conchology” is Possibly a Clue, but putting Too Much Emphasis on Florida. I read, “The History of the Conch Republic” which Defines Key West, was a tongue-in-cheek protest secession of the city of Key West from the United States on April 23, 1982. ”
“While the protest that sparked its creation, the original protest event was motivated by a U.S. Border Patrol roadblock and checkpoint which greatly inconvenienced residents and was detrimental to tourism in the area.”
I think that this is fun— I’ll come back later—- but I’m leaning more towards maybe Texas, or Tennessee? Or somewhere close to these areas.
Diana B.
You will see the captions only if you click on the links she put in her hint.

definitely the southwest…I’m thinking Scottsdale, AZ or possibly Sedona! The cacti hidden amongst the sea decor gives it away. Plus AZ is really growing and is one of the best places to live! The southwest gives the best views.
TERESA CASTILLO= Sorry, but No Comprende En Espanol—- I don’t have a Clue what you are trying to say, other than, ” Malibu”.
I don’t think that it will be California. I thought maybe, Southern CA., but then, when I tried to “do a Google Search” last week — this Popped Up:
It has to be the Sisal-Style Nylon Rug that serve as a foundation for a “happy …. Venice Beach? Water theme…
but California seems to be Out of the Picture …

YNOTME= when you Blogged, ” In the past it has helped to carefully analyze the wording of the clues, not just the pictures. I think there is something to the last sentence….. “no suggestion is too OUTLANDISH” — I think a Good Observation. This is what I found out:
1. The actor, Sean Connery starred in a movie, OUTLAND, and the theme was that he was assigned to a mining colony on one of Jupiter’s moons. There is a Jupiter in Florida—but Very close to Port St. Lucie. I don’t think that HGTV would pick a site this close to the Green Home.
2. After retiring the comic strip, Bloom County, he began his second comic strip- a little girl from the “wrong side of the tracks” in Bloom County, entered a magic doorway in the city of OUTLAND. Bloom County is theoretically somewhere in “rural” America. Maybe “Rural” America being a Clue?
3. There are “OUTLAND Businesses” in Minnesota; Charlotte, NC; and in Ontario and Alberta, Canada.
4. There is an “OUTLAND Trophy Award” for football, based out of Kansas.
I think that all of the above lead us Nowhere.
However, there is an OUTLAND EXPEDITIONS near the Ocoee River, one of the Top Ten White Water Rivers in the United States. It is a scenic area nestled amongst the trees, and the Appalachian Mountains in Cleveland, Tennessee.—-
Maybe RiverFront Property????
Diana B.
??????????? Cod, ????????????
Kap-Kabeljau, Massachusetts?
Looks like the So Cal coast above Malibu…north to Oxnard… or, possible location is around Big Sur. Looks like the “new” landscape there after the big 2008 fire. South Seas on the bar of soap could be possible clue. Even theme of spa-like rooms could be the location of either area with many luxury spas.
My guess is the home will be located in one of the deep Southern coastal states such as AL, LA, MS. The eco friendly reclaimed cypress wood bed is made from trees that thrive along riverway’s and bayou’s…henceforth a home where the rivers meet the ocean? Just a hunch…
maine or rhode island
It looks like MALIBU, California
Maybe Virginia Beech
Would the next home possibly be built in Hawaii? The giant clam is found in the South Pacific. The Hawaiian’s blow the conch shell in the evening and/or to call you to a luau. Is the Bradbury art seaweed or coral? It appears there is an orchid in the clam. It all reminded me of The Hawaiian Islands.

I’d say Delaware
I’ll guess Delaware
Texas has wonderful beaches. Lot’s of cacti and aloe vera. Also, lot’s of shells in general. Our coastline is long and the topography is much varied. I’m guessing Texas.
I think that is an ocean front viex house. I i really think and hope is located in Astoria, Oregon right at the beach the used to film the famous movie The Goonies. that will be a great location and it will bring some amazing memories!!!!1
