Another Clue for You

Could HGTV Dream Home 2010 border a lake? Photo by Jeff Pang.
While you ponder the year and its meaning, I’ve cooked up another clever clue. See if you can crack this code and figure out how this clue is connected to the Dream Home 2010 site location.

I read that the Plains Indians and the Indians in the Great Lakes Region lived in teepees. Chicago Bears football team has black bear. Quaker Oats has offices in Chicago, IL.
Yes, I have a Jack sighting. He and his shiny head were at the Atlanta airport boarding a plane for New York…
I forgot to ask MARY if her comment “See if you can ‘crack this code’” is a reference to the Navajo “Code Talkers” of World War II who served with the Marines in the Pacific theatre. The Navajo code was never broken by the Axis powers, and saved thousands of American and Allied lives during the war.
Hopefully, all of us HGTV Dream Home bloggers will have better luck cracking MARY’s clues! With hard work, perseverence, and a bit of luck—”Ni-hi-keh di-dlini ta-etin”.
“No force in the world we cannot conquer”! I like your thoughts Coop you must be referring to the HGTV Bloggers solving Mary’s puzzle. That’s pretty neat the Marines Fighting Song in Navajo!
Semper Fideles!
I’ll take the Albuquerque Tuscan with a Tequila Sunrise Coop. Actually I will probalby need two Tequila Sunrises, after I see how much the income taxes will be for us rich people next year!!
There is a restaurant in Massachussettes called Ravioli’s Brick Oven Pizzeria. Sounds very yummy! Also, 1620 is carved on the Plymouth Rock in MA. Very historical. There was a seashell pictured in the photos in guest bed, and Cape Cod peninsula has many seaside beaches and resorts. Have not checked on the other items yet.
Ed in Oregon, when you find out how much the taxes are for rich people next year, let us all know what to expect when we win the Dream Home (or Green Home)!
To one and all, and especially our resident Southern Belle, Marie Miller: for the briefest (re)introduction to Callaway Gardens in Pine Mountain, Georgia, check out:
http://my.hgtv.com/my-dream-designs/VacationHomes/Green-Home/detail.esi?oid=6719941
I don’t recall meeting your cousin Patsy there, Marie, but I met lots of very friendly folks working in every stop I made through the Callaway Gardens during my stay, and even some friendly geese that held me up for about ten minutes while they slowly crossed the road with their family.
The real estate developments there are varied, from cabin to custom, but all share in the splendid natural beauty of the forest and gardens. The Longleaf community is well built out, the Camp Callaway Cabins project is just in the intial build stage (with furnished models), while the Highland Park custom home sites are selling like hotcakes, with the first estate currently under construction.
The Callaway Gardens Lodge and Spa, just recently opened, is a polished gem in the wilderness…well worth a stay…AND, the housing projects and Garden buildings are eco-friendly. I hope Jack Thomasson can pick up one of the remaining wooded lots for a future HGTV Dream/Green Home. I think I could call Callaway Gardens my new vacation home without much coaxing, but I’ll have to wait for Ed in Oregon to report back on the taxes that the poor wealthy, or wealthy poor (however you look at it) will be paying.
Now, it seems to be time for a Tequila Sunrise. Cheers to all, and happy hunting.
Actually my sentence was incomplete. It was supposed to say …for us rich people next year when I win the dream home!!
Looking at a top rate being proposed at 39.5% + state income, the income tax on the dream home would probably be in the neighborhood of $1M! Ow!
Where are my sentences?
OK, I just know that it’s VIRGINIA!!! I’m so Excited. I’ll mention ALL of the CLUES and how they all Connect to VA in the Next Blog. I haven’t had the time to go back to the FIRST Picture Gallery though—I was so excited— I just had to go ahead and post this. In a few days, I’ll look at it— I know that all the Clues will Match Up Anyways.
The Clues ( Ravioli and Tee Pee) are Connected. Mary has a sense of humor— you’ll see why. The Clues ( Bike and Oats) are Connected too, and Lead us Right to the NEXT Dream Home. It will be in or near ROANOKE, VIRGINIA. It is Beautiful Country, and not far from the Scenic Blue Ridge Mountain Parkway ( I even think that it is One of Our Natural Wonders!)
I’ll be gone all day— going to Clearwater for the day. It will be nice to see the beach too. When I move to Virginia, Virginia Beach is quite a ride. But like This Blog shows— Lots of Nice Lakes! LOL— Joking— but I used to live in this area for a few years, (went to Liberty U. ) a long time ago— and it’s probably one of the BEST places to live in the Country!! I kind of always thought of moving back there, too!!! If I were to be so Lucky— it would just be fate—lucky fate— and maybe the Lord’s Blessing!!!

Wow, you guys are really good at this!!
I really think the dream home will be built in Connecticut now.
Ivoryton is a small village in the town of Essex in the state of Connecticut in the United States. It was known for its production of pianos in the early 20th century and takes its name from the IVORY industry that imported tusks to be shaped into the covering for piano and organ keys. There is not a single town, city, or place named Ivoryton anywhere else in the world. Was large amount of ivory imports there.
Connecticut is home to Mohegan SUN which has a gaming TEEPEE where you can WIN.
The Old State House is said to be haunted by ghosts from its past. THE FIRST WITCH HUNG IN HEW ENGLAND WAS IN THIS LAND IN 1647.
The Paugusset, an Algonquian people, once lived in the area that is now ORANGE. When originally settled by English colonists, Orange was simply the northern and eastern district of the now neighboring city of Milford, Connecticut.
RAVIOLI – Italians in general make up over one-fifth of the total population of the state of Connecticut.
SURF- CT is home to the SURF Club and SURF fishing. There are a few places to surf in the eastern end of the state that will get some swell bending its way along Long Island Sound
Listing of Black Bear sightings by city: http://www.depdata.ct.gov/wildlife/sighting/bearsight.asp
MODERN – More than 60 years ago, New Canaan became a popular center of experimental Modern residential design after a group of architects from Harvard University, including Marcel Breuer, Landis Gores, John Johansen, Eliot Noyes, and Philip Johnson – the “Harvard Five” – chose the town as the location to build their Modern-style homes in the late 1940s. Hallmarks of their designs included open plans, generous expanses of glass, and an emphasis on horizontality. This spring, celebrate their creative genius, the homes they designed and the Modern architectural style they inspired by touring unique exhibits and attending various tours and lectures.
There are lakes named Black Bear Lake in 3 states that I could find, NJ, AK, and Idaho
CT is home to some of the best MOUNTAIN BIKING trails
I love the idea of the state bear and smokey bear in New Mexico maybe just maybe could still be the southwest, warm southwest
The RFP link that I put up in an earlier post calling for submissions for the 2010 Dream House was created on January 29, 2008 with a submission deadline of July 9, 2008. The 2010 Dream House is to be built by July 31, 2009. So any LLCs would be created from end January 2008 until July 2008.
PALIWODA PLLC has an address of 215 S. Lake Drive Stanford CT. It was registered in CT. on Feb. 20, 2009. Here is a link to show homes in the development there http://www.donnellyestates.com/html/estate_description.html
Or how about Shorefront Park in Norwalk?
Good morning HGTV Bloggers! I hope you are all enjoying your tea this morning! I know I am very much enjoying your company right now!
Okay, sooooo, I don’t think anyone is with me on the whole South Carolina thing so I will forget about making Huguenot torte this morning
However, what can I serve you this morning?
Will it be a Chorizo Breakfast Burrito or Huevos Rencheros Grilled Breakfast Pizzas with Memelede De Cacto and some Bischochitos for Coop? Christine?
Or, maybe, I can get the recipe for the Monday Lemon Drop Cupcake, soaked in Citron Vodka and frosted in Lemon Creme Cheese Frosting from Mini’s Bakery in Salt Lake City, along with some honey scones and green jello for my new friend, Marie Miller? Personally, I’m digging the Citron Cupcake idea
Then again, we may be having some Johnny Cakes, Egg Pie, Virginia Ham and Mush with our blogging buddy Diana B!
Cathy Lemar, would some Soft Molasses Cake with extra nutmeg and Election Cake work for you?
By the time we finish these yummy meals, lunch may be served. Ed in Oregon and W…what do you think of a nice Lobster Bake Chowder served with Parker House Rolls and, of course, we need dessert…I think Boston Cream Pie would work!
Oh, Mary…you will be joining us I hope! So, Mary, WHERE would you like us to meet you?
Bon Appetit!
Living the Dream!
The picture perfect The picture beautiful!!!!!!
I don’t want to live next to bears. I prefer some safe worry free place and very near to stores restaurants and happenings.
I don’t want to feel solitude. I want safety and worry free comfort in center of happenings and beautiful views with extra clean air and pure water. No tornados, hurricanes, earthquakes, cold or dangerous animals.
The black bear is New York’s second largest land mammal; only the moose is larger. As recently as the mid-1990s, black bears occupied three relatively distinct ranges: Adirondack, Catskill, and Allegany. http://www.dec.ny.gov/animals/6960.html
Black Bear Campground offers scenic camping near New York City, in Orange County, New York. http://www.blackbearcampground.com
Bears and Broadway!
Not to try and critique too much, but it sure seems like so many of these clues that “defiantely” point to a location are to vague. For example…
Someone mentioned the clue Orange as a clue to tangerines, a school’s colors, etc. pointing to Virgina. While I certainly don’t know if it’s Virginia or not. Burnt Orange is one of the colors of Texas University also, and one of Okalahoma State’s colors is orange, Oregon State, Miami…and so on. Plus if we are talking fruit I think Florida (oranges) would be a much more likely canidate.
Black bears- I’ve seen a lot of research that says “black bears are know to inhabit this area…”, fact is that American Black Bears inhabit 41 of 50 states in the US ranging from Alaska (I still remember the one the came about 2 feet from me at a campsite in Valdez) to Maine, to New Mexico. Again maybe not a significant piece of info in that regard.
With that said the enthusiasm and research on here has been both impressive and entertaining!
Oh, and Im still rooting for New Mexico!!
Hi, Mary
By looking your pictures I believe, THE BEAUTIFUL 2010 Dream House will be built in Alaska. The reason why is that I will never forget how beautiful was the nature over there!
Could be Northeast Pennsylania.
cedar rapids michigan just a guess:)
